Question from LiveXcharlie (05:39, 25 January 2023)
Hello, I just created my 1st account with Wikipedia. My reason for creating the account is I have 2 affiliate websites. The parent company I'm affiliated with does not permit their affiliates to be indexed on Google Search. I just read an article that recommended creating a Wikipedia account for each site. Both domains were purchased through Google Domains, I can provide proof of ownership and or any other credentials. My question/s are, can I even create my own business account? Where do I start? --LiveXcharlie (talk) 05:39, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
- @LiveXcharlie Whatever article you were reading lied to you. You don't want articles on companies you work for/run. Any reliably sourced scandal will end up in the article and stay there. Any disgruntled ex-employee and competitor will have be quite motivated to add negative information, whether or not that information sticks around. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if that article (or the site that hosted it!) was advertising a 'paid editing' service. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 07:30, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
Deleted images
Concerning the new article on the Portraits of Frederick the Great I think the images you have deleted should be added back. Kunst-Theodor (talk) 03:10, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Kunst-Theodor I suspected someone might've said that, which is why I stated in the edit summary
(they can be added back as the article expands)
. You can see the full edit summary here and here. Basically, my concerns about the images being in the article have nothing to do with the quality of said images, but rather, whether or not it makes sense to have so many in such a short article. - To my mind, for reasons of comparability and clarity, it would be desirable to have the images in the article, as the artists' names are mentioned. Kunst-Theodor (talk) 03:35, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Kunst-Theodor I've been editing Wikipedia articles for years. Images are pretty low on the list of priorities. The first priority is reliable sourcing, and clearly communicating what those sources say in words comes pretty close to that. We're building an encyclopedia, not a repository of photos or paintings.
