Personal blather
I'm twentysomething, a systems administrator, web developer and all-round geek. I'm currently completing a degree in engineering sciences, and currently enjoy pattern recognition problems. My thesis will be on acoustic triangulation, specifically aimed at solving 3D explosives detection used during cluster bomb testing. I'm a self-confessed technophile. Oh, and I'm also engaged to the love of my life. I'm apparently INFP, although I don't believe it to be a scientific method, as well as a sceptic in general. I'm -2.75 on the Economic left/right scale, and -0.97 on the Social Libertarian/Authoritarian scale, according to the Political Compass. This places me in the same quadrant as Mandela, Ghandi and the Dalai Lama, and completely opposite Bush, Blair and Sharon. Sounds about right.
I'm from Stellenbosch, near Cape Town, South Africa. I take an interest in articles specifically related to this part of the world, and I could probably be described as a spelling nazi. The first edit and article on the English Wikipedia under my username was made in September 2004, and was an amateurish attempt at highlighting a South African landmark. My 1000th edit (according to Kate's tools) was just a bit of housekeeping. I've been active on the Afrikaans Wikipedia since at least July 2004, when I started an article on politics. My Wikipediholic score is 130, apparently the optimal, most productive range according to the online version. You may or may not be interested in my contributed image gallery or to-do list. I actively hunt spam on Wikipedia, especially relating to (South) African topics.
