WELCOME!! Hello, Derek R Bullamore! I want to personally welcome you on behalf of the Wikipedia community. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you haven't already, you can put yourself in the new user log and the list of users so you can be properly introduced to everyone. Don't forget to be bold, and don't be afraid of hungry Wikipedians...there's a rule about not biting newcomers. Some other good links are the tutorial, how to edit a page, or if you're really stuck, see the help pages. Wikipedia is held up by Five Pillars...I recommend reading about them if you haven't already. Finally, it would be really helpful if you would sign your name on talk pages, so people can get back to you quickly. It's easy to do this by clicking the button (next to the one with the "W" crossed out) one from the end on the left. If that's confusing, or if you have any questions, feel free to drop me a ♪ at my talk page (by clicking the plus sign (+) next to the tab at the top that says "edit this page")...and again, welcome!--ViolinGirl♪ 00:20, 18 December 2005 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Following the fascinating (and news-breaking) Tom Springfield saga, we now have the possibly equally involving Inez and Charlie Fox(x) saga. Inez's death at (allegedly) 79 or (in fact) 84 has not (yet) been widely reported. If you're interested in any way, I'd be interested to know what's said about their birth years and names in the "reliable" sources that you can find... Yes I watched the 'Springfield saga' from afar, but you were clearly much closer to that action than I. Funnily enough, I spent an hour or two yesterday looking at conflicting dates for David Whitfield's year of birth (1925 is correct), duly muddied by a statue of him erected outside the Hull New Theatre a decade or so ago, which cites 1926. For my money, both the statue and the accompanying text are rather naff and unprofessional.
Anyhoo, The Virgin Encyclopedia of Popular Music - Concise Edition - Colin Larkin - ISBN 1-85227-745-9; 1997, page 486, cites Inez Foxx born 9 September 1942, Greensboro, North Carolina and Charlie Foxx born 23 October 1939, Greensboro, North Carolina. The Book of Golden Discs - 2nd Edition - ISBN 0-214-20512-6; 1978, page 159, also states 9 September 1942 for Inez Foxx, but rather curiously lists her as the 'artist', with Charlie (no birth detail) as 'co-writer and her manager'. You will be aware that AllMusic has 1939 and 1998 for Charlie and 1942 for Inez. The curse of the showbiz age factor, I presume. Otherwise their 'one hit wonder' status, not quite, but you know what I mean, precludes their presence in any of the other copious tomes I possess. To be truthful, my current health status rather restricts my searching more thoroughly, although I did peruse, British Hit Singles & Albums - 19th Edition - ISBN 1-904994-10-5, were no birth information is listed.
The, not uncharted, dilemma of 'reliable sources' being anything but !

Thanks

To members who have added suggestions to the ToDo list at Yorkshire Portal.
To the football and rugby editors who have done stirling work in keeping abreast of the top clubs.
To all the WikiProject Yorkshire editors who have been busy on vandal patrol at watchlist.
Great!
Comments, questions and suggestions about this, or any, issue of the newsletter are always welcome and can be made by pressing the feedback button below...
The number has been kept deliberately low to give us a fighting chance of improving them to at least GA status, also so we can concentrate our efforts on these first.
Wiki Loves Monuments
September is the time for the annual Wiki Loves Monuments competition to get quality photographs of listed buildings and scheduled monuments in the UK. It would be good if any members in the Yorkshire area got out and about taking images of any monuments or listed buildings that they find. There are still several entries on the various list articles without images and it would be best to prioritise these if you are in the right place. Details for this years competition can be found here. There are cash prises of up to £250 for the best images that are submitted.
If you are not in Yorkshire then you are still able to join in as the competition covers the whole of the UK, separate competitions are available for other areas of the world if you are not UK based.
WikiProject Yorkshire Collaboration of the Month Project
The September 2022 articles selected below are an editor choice as there were no nominations on the project talk page.
The project is subscribed to a clean-up listing which lists articles tagged with various clean-up tags that need attention. The listing is refreshed by a bot on a regular basis.
Monitoring is essential Use the watchlist to keep an eye on changes to the project's articles so that vandalism and spamming can be removed as quickly as possible.
Moves Please be careful when performing articles moves and ensure that you also move all the talk sub-pages and update any image fair use rational. Otherwise the archives, to-do lists, assessment comments and GA reviews get lost and the image may be deleted as it has an incorrect FUR. You will also have to check that the Commons link is set correctly.
Would you like to write the next newsletter for WP:YORKS? Please nominate yourself at WT:YORKS! New editors are always welcome!
