archive parameters
Hi. The archiveprefix seems a little off to me, but I cant be sure. What I am sure about is, the numberstart should be 55. Thats the archive subpage where the bot begins to store the recent archive. Currently, you have set it to 1, and maxarchivesize is 25000. So the next time bot runs, it will move the recent archive to User talk:Andrevan/Archives/1 until it is 25000 in size. After that, it will start archiving in the subpage which is less 25000 in size. I see you have already placed archive now template in a thread, so you can see where/how it goes. Let me know if you have any questions after the bot's next run. —usernamekiran (talk) 17:57, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note and the help. I just got @CX Zoom to help me by mass moving all the old pages from User:Andrevan/Archive2 etc to User talk:Andrevan/Archives/2 so hopefully now when it archives, it will go to the right place and update the indices. It seems that it wasn't documented but you can't archive to a different subpage from the page that's being archived - I guess it makes sense, but I had all those old manual archives dating back to 2004, and it did work to update the index with the old format, but was not archiving properly. It makes sense that the numberstart should be 55 (or 54 actually since the archive 54 isn't full yet), but that doesn't explain why it wasn't respecting the archiveprefix and the base page name. If you look closely at what the bot did, it was half-working with the old format. Anyway, I think everything looks better now, so with any luck it'll work now. Thanks again for checking in.
