Updating uploaded video
I just uploaded a video and after I discovered that my brother left the title card for the next segment in the video. Can I replace the video with a fixed copy, or do I have to remove the link from the Vesuvius page, delete the video, upload a new one, and replace the link? Don Wiss (talk) 13:15, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- If you go to the File description page of the upload, then under "File history" you will find an option: "Upload a new version". You can use that. —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 13:44, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
Missing Article
There was once a very detailed page on the Libertarian Party of West Virginia. It has been removed somewhat recently.
I was hoping to restore the original page if possible. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Will Hyman (talk • contribs) 19:48, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Will Hyman: Taking a look at the page log, the article was deleted by Liz in April due to a proposed deletion that there was
no evidence of notability independent of the federal party
. You could try asking for a refund, but it would help if you have reliable sources that establishes its notability as Wikipedia defines it. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 20:07, 15 July 2022 (UTC) - Hello, Will Hyman. That redirected article did not have any references to reliable, independent sources that devote significant coverage to this political party at the state level. The two references were to a voter registration number database, which is not significant coverage, and to the party's own web page about Will Hyman, which is not an independent source. Accordingly, you appear to have a Conflict of interest which you should disclose, and should edit very cautiously. Under these circumstances, the redirect was correct. - Will Hyman Wikipedia is not a voter guide and does not provide equal time for all points of view. Coverage of a topic depends on the coverage in independent reliable sources. Reverting to a previous version
Hi there. I looked up someone recently who is deceased but who I knew fairly well. Recently someone has gone in to his list and made quite unkind edits, for example commenting on the person's hygiene and calling him a charlatan amongst other insults. I'm all for critique but not for meanness! Is there an easy way to put it back to its previous version? Many thanks. Emily 107.2.26.67 (talk) 20:32, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, that can easily be done. Either we can explain to you how to do it yourself (which may not be that easy for someone with no editing experience); or you can specify who the person is, either in public here, or by going to my user page and clicking "Email this user". Maproom (talk) 20:48, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yes. Go to the page in question and click the "View History" button above the top of the article. From there, locate the offending edit. If it's gone unfixed so far, it's probably at the top of the list. If there is just a single vandalism edit, press "Undo" on the edit and publish your changes. For multiple vandalism edits in a row, find the last good version and select it by clicking the date and time of the edit. Then, review the page to ensure it is the right version and press "Restore this version" at the top of the page. See Help:Reverting for more information. your impact
hi,
for some reason the numbers on my "your impact" page keep changing radically, and some articles will disappear completely from the list even though they were at the top and my edit wasn't reverted. can anyone explain why? InfiniteSword (talk) 02:38, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- @InfiniteSword: Can you link to the page? RudolfRed (talk) 03:03, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- @RudolfRed: pretty sure they talk about the relatively new Special:Homepage feature, which is enabled for new users by default. @InfiniteSword: Unless I missread something, the list "your impact" is based on the number of views the articles got since you edited them, limited to data from the past 60 days. As a natural consequence, if you edit a frequently-viewed article, it will make itself to the top. Also, less-viewed articles are more likely to get bumped off the page, either because some other article you edited got more views and made it into the five slots, or because the 60-day timeout expired. InfiniteSword (talk) 12:27, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- @InfiniteSword: I'm fairly certain the panel checks for any article views since you've edited starting from 60 days ago, whichever comes first. It's possible that once a view goes past the 60-day mark, it is removed from the impact panel. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 13:11, 16 July 2022 (UTC)

Hello
I just wanna ask if I am qualified of having an alternative account or not in Wikipedia? Thanks. NewManila2000 (talk) 10:37, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- NewManila2000 There is no "qualification" required. You must fully comply with the provisions set out at WP:VALIDALT, however. Mike Turnbull (talk) 10:46, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
Okay, but I might create a problem on it since I had violated it before. NewManila2000 (talk) 10:54, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- Looking at your Talk Page archive, I can see you have had issues in the past. My advice would be to tread very carefully and make clear statements on the User Page(s) of any alternative accounts that link them to your main account and explain why you need them. You have contributed to Wikipedia over many years and I don't see why you shouldn't continue to do so productively. Mike Turnbull (talk) 11:29, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks, but I don't know what to do next since I had forgotten the emails and passwords of those accounts that are connected to my main account. In that case, I cannot edit directly to the talkpages of these accounts, but can appeal to the UTRS. NewManila2000 (talk) 11:56, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- If you cannot access an account, then it's not an alternative account of yours. You may leave those accounts as dormant, as there is no way to remove a user account from Wikipedia. In the interest of full disclosure, you are advised to mention them on your user page.
- If the only account you are able to log in to is NewManila2000, you are allowed to create an alternate account, though, again, declaring it on your user page is expected.--Quisqualis (talk) 19:35, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- As far as the Tagalog Wikipedia is concerned, NewManila2000 (you were community-banned), you will want to go to that Wikipedia in order to deal with any issues with your Tagalog Wikipedia accounts.--Quisqualis (talk) 19:47, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
Okay thanks, but I just want to add that I can edit in other wikis like in Tagalog because of being community banned in English Wikipedia before. NewManila2000 (talk) 01:06, 17 July 2022 (UTC)

Connection not secure
Lately (using Chrome, Win 10 on a PC), I've encountered a browser warning about http URLs lacking the https security designation. I've been finding it on a lot of citation urls, as well as on WikiBlame. WRT the source citations, is this situation viewed as a problem? Quisqualis (talk) 19:29, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- This may assist you: Check if a site's connection is secure from Chrome Help. MinorProphet (talk) 19:52, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- HTTPS makes the connection between you and the web site safer, but the web site could be full of malware. Some large Open source and CHinese web sites don't seem to have https (list https://whynohttps.com/ avoiding].
- HTTPS is better, but I think Google may be pushing it because it may require it for some analytics on ads. Wakelamp d[@-@]b (talk) 02:11, 17 July 2022 (UTC)

If it can't be used, I'll find a selfie. 65.65.159.176 (talk) 01:27, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hi IP 65.65.159.176. Thank you for clarifying things a bit. This makes it easier to try and help you sort things out. First of all, you should take a careful look at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and also Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Dealing with articles about yourself because there are some important things about Wikipedia editing that you may not be familiar with. Persons who have Wikipedia articles written about them or who are mentioned in Wikipedia articles often mistakenly assume that they have some sort of editorial control of article content, but this isn't the case at all as explained in Wikipedia:Ownership of content; so, even though there is a Wikipedia article written about you, it's not technically "your page" per se in the sense that you have a claim of ownership over it. Article content is going to be assessed based on relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines, and for the most part you should refrain from directly editing the article and seek assistance from others when you feel changes are needed as explained here. Regarding the photo you uploaded, since you didn't take it yourself, you're not really considered the copyright holder. If you're unable to contact the person who did take the photo and get them to give their consent as explained here, the photo will likely end up being deleted in a few days or so. If you would like to upload a photo that you've taken yourself, then you can. Before you do so though, you might want to read through this and this to make sure you understand some things about uploading and licensing images via Wikimedia Commons. Finally, it would probably be less confusing to others if you stick to one account when editing Wikipedia. So, if you're also user Lafcadio4, please try to remember to log in to your account when you want to post something. Sticking to one account will make it easier for others to know who they're interacting with; in addition, although there's no reason to not take you at your word that you are indeed William Benton the writer, there's also no way for any Wikipedia user to verify such a thing for certain. You might want to take a look a WP:REALWORLD for reference and you may also want to consider having your identity verified by WP:VRT if you want it to be clear to everyone that you're indeed William Benton. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:04, 17 July 2022 (UTC)

- (edit conflict) Hi Lafcadio4. The "problem" with that photo is that it's being currently used on lots of other websites and all of these uses (as far as I can tell) predate its upload to Wikimedia Commons. You state that the photo is a
personal snapshot
taken 2014 in the description on the file's page. Does this mean that you took the photo yourself? In your post above, you seem to also be signing it as "William benton". Are you William Benton (writer) who is the same person shown in the photo? The author of the photo is given as someone named "E. Fattakova". Are you E. "Fattakova"? When it comes to photos, it's almost always the case the person taking the photo, not the subject of the photo, who is considered to be the copyright holder of the photo. For Wikimedia Commons purposes, only the copyright holder of a photo can upload it and give their c:COM:CONSENT to release it under an acceptable Creative Commons license. If you didn't take the photo and its copyright ownership wasn't subsequently wasn't transferred to you, you can't really upload it to Wikimedia Commons because it's not considered to be your own work. If you did take the photo or its copyright was subsequently transferred to you, then you should follow the instructions given in the notification I left regarding the file at c:User talk:Lafcadio4 and have your copyright ownership formally verified as explained in c:COM:VRT#Licensing images: when do I contact VRT?; otherwise, the file will end up being deleted in a few days if copyright holder consent remains unverified. -- Marchjuly (talk)

Technical question
Is it recorded in the database whether an edit was actually made by user, or was imported either using import
or importupload
? – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 18:51, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- It is, in at least once sense, in that imported revisions have an out-of-sequence revision ID. Graham87 can probably explain this better than I can. * Pppery * it has begun... 18:54, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- In PHP, could you check if an edit was imported or not? – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 19:25, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- Indeed ... it's not recorded as such directly for each revision but only indirectly by such means as the revision ID being out-of-order, several revisions of the same article with consecutive revision ID numbers, and sometimes the username containing a ">" (random example). I don't do much programming so I don't know what is and is not possible. Graham87 02:40, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Graham87: Anyone who would know the exact answer regarding the backend/database? – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 02:48, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

Post-expand include size
I've completed work on the article 1st class Active State Councillor of the Russian Federation. The problem is that post-expand include size is exceeded and references do not render on the page. How can I solve this problem? K8M8S8 (talk) 19:22, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- @K8M8S8: The note at the top of the page says to use Module Cite Web, with a link on how use the module instead of the cite web template. Did you try that? RudolfRed (talk) 20:26, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- @RudolfRed: {{#invoke:Cite web|| replaces {{Cite web| But there is no {{Cite web| in the article — all references use {{Cite act| K8M8S8 (talk) 20:37, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- Apologies, I didn't look. I just assumed the error message would provide useful advice. Oops. RudolfRed (talk) 20:44, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- @K8M8S8:General suggestions for this problem include to split the page, reduce the content, reduce template usage, optimize the code of the used templates, or use "cheaper" templates. I made a solution which uses {{cite book}} instead of {{cite act}}.[1] The latter is a wrapper which causes overhead in the post-expand include size. It appears to render the same way but the source may not be as nice. The page now uses 78% of the limit so there is room for expansion. Feel free to revert me if you dislike the solution or find something better. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:01, 17 July 2022 (UTC)

What about Special:ExpandTemplates? Could it help to? K8M8S8 (talk) 12:04, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- @K8M8S8: Yes, that is the extreme version of reduced template usage. It can reduce post-expand include size to 0 but the source will often become very ugly and hard to maintain. You have 356 citations like:
{{cite act|type=Decree|index=885|date=12 June 1996|legislature=[[President of Russia]]|title=О присвоении квалификационных разрядов федеральным государственным служащим Администрации Президента Российской Федерации|language=ru|url=http://pravo.gov.ru/proxy/ips/?searchres=&bpas=cd00000&a3=102000503&a3type=1&a3value=&a6=102000070&a6type=1&a6value=&a15=&a15type=1&a15value=&a7type=1&a7from=&a7to=&a7date=12.06.1996&a8=885&a8type=1&a1=&a0=&a16=&a16type=1&a16value=&a17=&a17type=1&a17value=&a4=&a4type=1&a4value=&a23=&a23type=1&a23value=&textpres=&sort=7&x=55&y=14}}
- With my solution it became:
{{cite book|title=Decree No. 885 of 12 June 1996|publisher=[[President of Russia]]|chapter=О присвоении квалификационных разрядов федеральным государственным служащим Администрации Президента Российской Федерации|language=ru|url=http://pravo.gov.ru/proxy/ips/?searchres=&bpas=cd00000&a3=102000503&a3type=1&a3value=&a6=102000070&a6type=1&a6value=&a15=&a15type=1&a15value=&a7type=1&a7from=&a7to=&a7date=12.06.1996&a8=885&a8type=1&a1=&a0=&a16=&a16type=1&a16value=&a17=&a17type=1&a17value=&a4=&a4type=1&a4value=&a23=&a23type=1&a23value=&textpres=&sort=7&x=55&y=14}}
- With ExpandTemplates it would become:
<templatestyles src="Module:Citation/CS1/styles.css"></templatestyles><cite class="citation book cs1 cs1-prop-foreign-lang-source">"О присвоении квалификационных разрядов федеральным государственным служащим Администрации Президента Российской Федерации". - You can upload a new image by using the Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard, and add it to the article by editing the page and swapping the existing image for the new one. If you can't edit a page but still want to contribute the image, another user may be able to edit it for you. Of course, I'd advise against uploading the card if you're currently using it, or if it that has identifying information on it. WelpThatWorked (talk) 01:36, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

- Seigerman, the discussion has been relisted twice and generally should not be relisted again per WP:RELIST, so the discussion could be closed after another week or so. Number separator formatting
Hi,
Simple question, is there an adopted number formatting across wikipedia? We know that some countries use space, dot or comma to separate thousands and others use comma / dot for decimal units. Wikipedia being a worldwide open source of knowledge, I think that ISO-31 formatting should be considered, that is: space for thousands and dot for decimal.
The question arose while reading physical properties (mass and radius) of the Sun and Earth here on wikipedia, where units are not consistent between pages. I am sure this matter was already considered (maybe some numbers are stores as strings of text if not introduced in proper format by the writer)
Thank you, Alexandr Rosca Mawerick mc (talk) 15:58, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Mawerick mc: Welcome. Wikipedia uses . (dot) as the decimal separator never a comma. Sometimes comma is used for grouping and sometimes spacing such as in science and technology articles. See WP:DECIMAL and WP:DIGITS for more info RudolfRed (talk) 16:03, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

What happened to the named reference option in source editor?
When editing with the source editor, there used to be an option to pull up named references (see the ref toolbar at Help:Referencing for beginners. Now, despite using the source editor, I am seeing the citation option in the visual editor seen at WP:REFVISUAL. The re-use option is greyed out, so the only way I can see to use a named reference is to search for the reference name in the article. (If I switch to the visual editor, it does allow me to reuse a reference). Additionally, it seems unusual that there is no option to name a reference when filling out the new citation form without manually going into the source editor. Is using named references no longer encouraged? Thanks! Ryan Vesey 19:28, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, Ryan Vesey. I cannot help you with the technical challenge, because I create my references manually, using citation templates. I can assure you that named references are definitely encouraged and I create them all the time. Cullen328 (talk) 21:31, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @Ryan Vesey. It is still there for me. You have to click on the "Cite" at the end of the first line of the toolbar to make the references part of the toolbar appear. See meta:Community Wishlist Survey 2019/Status report 1#Named References in VE for a discussion of the difficulties with named references in the Visual Editor. - @Ryan Vesey - but when I enable the beta feature "New wikitext mode" in preferences, I see what you are seeing - the VE toolbar and the grayed out reuse references even though there are named references there. You can turn it off in the Beta tab in your preferences. StarryGrandma (talk) 23:22, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

- Are you by any chance referring to a photo or text shown to the right of a Google search? Google's Knowledge Graph uses a wide variety of sources. There may be a text paragraph ending with "Wikipedia" to indicate that particular text was copied from Wikipedia. An image and other text before or after the Wikipedia excerpt may be from sources completely unrelated to Wikipedia. We have no control over how Google presents our information, but Google's Knowledge Graph has a "Feedback" link where anyone can mark a field as wrong. How much weight do dictionaries get?
How are reputable dictionaries weighted compared to other reliable secondary sources on wikipedia?
For example, if the consensus among scholars in a field like psychology is different or more nuanced than the most common dictionary definition, then which definition has precedence on the page? And does this change for a specialized dictionary like a medical dictionary?
WP:NEUTRAL, WP:DICTIONARIES and WP:RELIABLE don't make it clear how different types of sources should be weighted, other than a preference for secondary sources. But let's say you're on a page that covers many topics and academic fields, such as woman. If you have 100 reliable sources that say one thing, and the dictionary definition says a slightly different thing, then which consensus gets the lede? I'm aware of WP:LEADFOLLOWSBODY, but it seems like this is often a chicken and egg issue where there is resistance to changing the body based on what's already in the lede.
And also, it would seem that dictionaries are mostly reliable, but may sometimes go counter to this line in WP:UNDUE: Keep in mind that, in determining proper weight, we consider a viewpoint's prevalence in reliable sources, not its prevalence among Wikipedia editors or the general public.
Since English language dictionaries are usually representative of the general public
(common usage), does that mean there are situations where they are not WP:RELIABLE? — Preceding unsigned comment added by The void century (talk • contribs) 19:35, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Wikipedia articles are more than dictionary definitions. I would give substantive sources a lot more weight in any article than a dictionary. However, are you talking about specialized use of terms vs. common use of terms? If so, ideally both would be covered. Perhaps in one article, or perhaps in multiple articles, such as what we have for water.~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 19:47, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Courtesy context link: Talk:Woman#Propose adding word "typically" to lede
- Regarding "...where there is resistance to changing the body based on what's already in the lede": I see no evidence to support this statement. The opposite is rather the case: there is often a rush to change the lead, in the absence of having laid a proper framework in the body to support it. This is a very typical newbie approach, and can even be seen among more experienced editors and is not altogether surprising, as the lead is the first thing one sees in the article; studies show that many readers never read past the lead (and editors were readers first). As you pointed out, WP:LEADFOLLOWSBODY is the way to go. Mathglot (talk) 20:19, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
Needing help with a table
I have been working to update the Tornado intensity#Typical damage chart with the most recent scale and came across an issue that I can't solve. If you look at the scale, the T0/T1 + T2/T3 + T4/T5 need to be in the middle of the three IF scales (IF0, IF1, IF2) respectively. The chart currently has the T numbers as 1 large followed by a 2 large block. If anyone can fix the chart to where it is in the middle of the 3 IF scale numbers, it would be much appreciated. Elijahandskip (talk) 20:59, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Elijahandskip: It depends on the browser. It already looked as wanted in Firefox but not Edge. Setting a larger width in T0 than IF0- and so on didn't work for me (they both displayed at the larger width). I found another solution [3] that works for me but it's not elegant. Screen readers may ignore the hidden borders and report a lot of cells to the left of "Intense" but that seems acceptable. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:56, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

- First, I am not a regular reviewer of new articles, simply somebody who has had a lot of experience in creating them. I looked at your draft: (1) It is not long enough; you have much more information available to you than you have used. You could certainly use almost all the article by Pu Jiaru titled "Chu Wanghua's Piano Music Creation and Value Research." Therein you'll find a good story of Chu's life, which you should use and carefully cite to your source. (2) That other source, "1977 Letter to Deng Xiaoping," seems to be just propaganda: Don't use it. (3) You could use https://www.australianmusiccentre.com.au/artist/chu-wang-hua, but since the biography was provided by Mr. Chu you would have to say so in your article. (4) This looks like a good reliable source: https://kuscholarworks.ku.edu/handle/1808/19442. It has a little bit about his life but more about his music. (5) In summation, if I were you I would take the article back and add more about his life based on good, reliable sources. (6) For help, go to any other composer on Wikipedia and see how the article is written. (7) Right now your article is not ready to be used. Best wishes in writing for Wikipedia! Good luck! - I want to translate this from zhwiki, but the article at there have almost no source. QiuLiming1 (talk) 04:38, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- WP:Stub Yes, of course, but stubs also need good sources, and you have to show any editor that your man is really NOTABLE and that RELIABLE SOURCES have said so. Whoever approves your work to go into main space (it won't be me) will expect them. Why not use the Chinese article and look for sources yourself? In short, I think you need to do more RESEARCH on your proposed article. BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 04:49, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

Good luck! BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 02:47, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- I will look at it right now and give you my opinions. BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 02:12, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
Where is the list of all the "Series" grouping of articles?
On some articles on there is a side box saying that "this article is a part of a 'Series' on _______, such as 'Sociology' or something. I really like this feature of some articles and I was hoping someone could point me to a list of all the 'Series' that have been curated as a way to more systematically navigate through Wikipedia's articles. Elias Stassinopoulos (talk) 04:42, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- Read this: Wikipedia:Article series. Good luck! BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 04:51, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Elias Stassinopoulos: In case you don't notice it among the "See also" links there, a "list of all the 'Series' that have been curated" with those side boxes is available at Wikipedia:List of article series. Deor (talk) 13:55, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
2 minor questions on William Greene (economist)
After my edit, two questions remained open:
- A Comma question, see in-line-commentary in wikisource. (I am only en-2, de-N, not sure about en grammar.)
- In the disambiguation page William Greene, he is categorized "Business figures". In fact he is a scientist.
--Himbeerbläuling (talk) 06:12, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- Himbeerbläuling, I have added a comma as you suggested. It is arguable that an economist is a business figure, otherwise you could move him to the "Other" section. TSventon (talk) 06:49, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thank You. I think it is Resolved. --Himbeerbläuling (talk) 17:05, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

The users who help out at WP:GL are no different from any other Wikipedia user in that they are all WP:VOLUNTEERs, and tend to work on things that interest them. Try asking at c:COM:GL. Add Magazine to Wikipedia
How can we add of Soigne' + Swank Magazine to the Wikipedia Platform ? 2601:58C:4305:A8B0:AC13:997:3D6B:3BA8 (talk) 11:11, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- There is already an article here, namely Swank (magazine) but that is about a pornographic magazine, so I assume you mean a new article describing soigneswankmagazine.com. To warrant an article here, the magazine would need to meet our general notability guidelines for periodicals. Please read that guidance before thinking about drafting anything or you may be wasting your time. A brief Google search didn't look promising in terms of WP:INDEPENDENT sources but I'm no expert in the topic. Mike Turnbull (talk) 12:17, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- Also notice that if you are in any way connected with Soigne' + Swank, then you have at least a conflict of interest, and you may be a paid editor. Please read those links carefully, and make whatever declarations are appropriate. ColinFine (talk) 15:13, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
Wikipedia Library access problem
I posted this query on the Wikipedia library talk page here, but have got no response, so I'm trying here as well. Some time ago, I applied for access to the Rock's Back Pages collection, which was granted. According to my library homepage, I still have access to the collection. But when I actually go into the Rock's Back Pages website, I cannot view any articles - they all require additional sign-in. Any help greatly appreciated. --Viennese Waltz 11:13, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- Apologies if I'm repeating things you have already tried, Viennese Waltz but are you sure that you can see Rock's as one of the collections that are your personal set when logged in here on the library? This will be the "My Collections" tab, not the "Available Collections" tab. Then you must use the "Access Collection" button on that page: it won't work if you merely open Rock via another browser session. If all this fails, your best set will be to ping one of the WMF's editors to the library talk page so they can help you there. There is also a "Contact us" link at the very bottom right of the Library page. Mike Turnbull (talk) 12:06, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks Mike. Yes, it's in My Collections, and I have a button that says "access collection". When I click that, a new tab opens with the URL www-rocksbackpages-com.wikipedialibrary.idm.oclc.org. This brings me to the collection, but clicking on individual articles requires additional sign-in. I'll contact them as you suggest. It's a pity they don't seem to watch the library talk page without being pinged. --Viennese Waltz 12:13, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
Help for article review
I had created a draft named Draft:Government Boys Primary School, Mothparja and submitted it to review through AFC process. But I don't know why it haven't been reviewed. So someone please check it. Thanks.FAAHS (talk) 12:54, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- @FAAHS: Hi there! At the top of your draft, there is a big yellow box that states "This may take 4 months or more, since drafts are reviewed in no specific order. There are 2,623 pending submissions waiting for review." You may continue working on your draft while you are waiting. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 13:17, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

1. How to add more evidence to archived sockpuppet investigations 2. How much behavioural evidence is enough?
I started this [4] sockpuppet investigation months ago. I put a plenty of effort of showing the user behind the account is indeed one who has been indefinitely banned. The use of "Check user" tool was denied, I never understood why, but thought the behavioural evidence should have been enough. I have shown the users share a strong interest in the same nische topics, share the same self-declared political view, share the same self-declared, and rather unusual ancestry, use of similar wording and use of edit summaries to taunt people and know the same languages [5]. My lastest additional evidence was denied [6]. So my question is how can I continue with this case, and what kind behavioral evidence should be enough to proof the sockpuppetry case? Sietecolores (talk) 15:24, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- Scanned the long report, and it was investigated and closed as "a many-year pattern of reports that don't pan out". I'd advise you to trust the process and the people administering it. If it didn't work out the way you wanted, either let it go, or come up with some incontrovertible evidence that is really new and persuasive, but absent that I'd move on. Creating a biography on Wikipedia
I would like to write a biography on Wikipedia for someone in the creative arts. How do I go about doing so please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by J86G (talk • contribs) 17:43, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, J86G, and welcome to Wikipedia. My advice to new editors who are asking about creating a new article is always to spend a few months making improvements to existing articles and learning how Wikipedia works before even trying it.
- Then the absolute first step is to find the reliable independent sources that are a non-negotiable requirement in order to establish that the subject is notable, because if you can't find them, there is no point in spending any more time on this.
- I suggest also asking yourself why you want to create an article on this person. If even part of your mind is saying "to tell the world about this person", then you have a conflict of interest (this is usually interpreted as "if you are connected with the subject", but I think it applies more widely). If your purpose is to improve Wikipedia, that's great; but creating an article is not the only way of doing that, and for an inexperienced user, it is a difficult and often frustrating way to try and do so.
- If you decided that there are enough sources, please read your first article. Then you can use the articles for creation process to create a draft. ColinFine (talk) 17:53, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- @J86G First you make sure you have the WP:RS demanded at WP:GNG. If you can find those sources, move on to WP:YFA. Also read WP:BLP, and, if it applies to you, WP:COI. Note that creating a WP-article that "sticks" is difficult without any previous WP-experience, and it's recommend that you get some before you try. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:31, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
Thank you both for your advice which is much appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by J86G (talk • contribs) 18:41, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
