Redirects for discussion (RfD) is the place where potentially problematic redirects are discussed. Items usually stay listed for a week or so, after which they are deleted, kept, or retargeted.
- If you want to replace an unprotected redirect with an article, do not list it here. Turning redirects into articles is wholly encouraged. Be bold!
- If you want to move a page but a redirect is in the way, do not list it here. For non-controversial cases, place a technical request; if a discussion is required, then start a requested move.
- If you think a redirect points to the wrong target article, this is a good place to discuss what should be the proper target.
- Redirects should not be deleted just because they have no incoming links. Please do not use this as the only reason to delete a redirect. However, redirects that do have incoming links are sometimes deleted, so that is not a sufficient condition for keeping. (See § When should we delete a redirect? for more information.)
Please do not change the target of the redirect while it is under discussion. This adds unnecessary complication to the discussion for both potential closers and participants.
Before listing a redirect for discussion
Please be aware of these general policies, which apply here as elsewhere:
- Wikipedia:Redirect – what redirects are, why they exist, and how they are used.
- Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion – which pages can be deleted without discussion; in particular the "General" and "Redirects" sections.
- Wikipedia:Deletion policy – how we delete things by consensus.
- Wikipedia:Guide to deletion – guidelines on discussion format and shorthand.
The guiding principles of RfD
- The purpose of a good redirect is to eliminate the possibility that readers will find themselves staring blankly at "Search results 1–10 out of 378" instead of the article they were looking for. If someone could plausibly enter the redirect's name when searching for the target article, it's a good redirect.
- Redirects are cheap. They take up little storage space and use very little bandwidth. It doesn't really hurt things if there are a few of them scattered around. On the flip side, deleting redirects is also cheap because recording the deletion takes up little storage space and uses very little bandwidth. There is no harm in deleting problematic redirects.
- If a good-faith RfD nomination proposes to delete a redirect and has no discussion after at least 7 days, the default result is delete.
- Redirects nominated in contravention of Wikipedia:Redirect will be speedily kept.
- RfD can also serve as a central discussion forum for debates about which page a redirect should target. In cases where retargeting the redirect could be considered controversial, it is advisable to leave a notice on the talk page of the redirect's current target page or the proposed target page to refer readers to the redirect's nomination to allow input and help form consensus for the redirect's target.
- Requests for deletion of redirects from one page's talk page to another's do not need to be listed here. Anyone can remove the redirect by blanking the page. The G6 criterion for speedy deletion may be appropriate.
- In discussions, always ask yourself whether or not a redirect would be helpful to the reader.
When should we delete a redirect?
The major reasons why deletion of redirects is harmful are:
- a redirect may contain non-trivial edit history;
- if a redirect is reasonably old (or is the result of moving a page that has been there for quite some time), then it is possible that its deletion will break incoming links (such links coming from older revisions of Wikipedia pages, from edit summaries, from other Wikimedia projects or from elsewhere on the internet, do not show up in "What links here").
Therefore consider the deletion only of either harmful redirects or of recent ones.
Reasons for deleting
You might want to delete a redirect if one or more of the following conditions is met (but note also the exceptions listed below this list):
- The redirect page makes it unreasonably difficult for users to locate similarly named articles via the search engine. For example, if the user searches for "New Articles", and is redirected to a disambiguation page for "Articles", it would take much longer to get to the newly added articles on Wikipedia.
- The redirect might cause confusion. For example, if "Adam B. Smith" was redirected to "Andrew B. Smith", because Andrew was accidentally called Adam in one source, this could cause confusion with the article on Adam Smith, so the redirect should be deleted.
- The redirect is offensive or abusive, such as redirecting "Joe Bloggs is a Loser" to "Joe Bloggs" (unless "Joe Bloggs is a Loser" is legitimately discussed in the article), or "Joe Bloggs" to "Loser". (Speedy deletion criterion G10 and G3 may apply.) See also § Neutrality of redirects.
- The redirect constitutes self-promotion or spam. (Speedy deletion criterion G11 may apply.)
- The redirect makes no sense, such as redirecting "Apple" to "Orange". (Speedy deletion criterion G1 may apply.)
- It is a cross-namespace redirect out of article space, such as one pointing into the User or Wikipedia namespace. The major exception to this rule are the pseudo-namespace shortcut redirects, which technically are in the main article space. Some long-standing cross-namespace redirects are also kept because of their long-standing history and potential usefulness. "MOS:" redirects, for example, are an exception to this rule. (Note also the existence of namespace aliases such as WP:. Speedy deletion criterion R2 may apply if the target namespace is something other than Category:, Template:, Wikipedia:, Help:, or Portal:.)
- If the redirect is broken, meaning it redirects to an article that does not exist, it can be immediately deleted under speedy deletion criterion G8. You should check that there is not an alternative place it could be appropriately redirected to first or that it has become broken through vandalism.
- If the redirect is a novel or very obscure synonym for an article name that is not mentioned in the target, it is unlikely to be useful. In particular, redirects in a language other than English to a page whose subject is unrelated to that language (or a culture that speaks that language) should generally not be created. (Implausible typos or misnomers are candidates for speedy deletion criterion R3, if recently created.)
- If the target article needs to be moved to the redirect title, but the redirect has been edited before and has a history of its own, then the title needs to be freed up to make way for the move. If the move is uncontroversial, tag the redirect for G6 speedy deletion, or alternatively (with the
suppressredirect
user right; available to page movers and admins), perform a round-robin move. If not, take the article to Requested moves. - If the redirect could plausibly be expanded into an article, and the target article contains virtually no information on the subject.
Reasons for not deleting
However, avoid deleting such redirects if:
- They have a potentially useful page history, or an edit history that should be kept to comply with the licensing requirements for a merge (see Wikipedia:Merge and delete). On the other hand, if the redirect was created by renaming a page with that name, and the page history just mentions the renaming, and for one of the reasons above you want to delete the page, copy the page history to the Talk page of the article it redirects to. The act of renaming is useful page history, and even more so if there has been discussion on the page name.
- They would aid accidental linking and make the creation of duplicate articles less likely, whether by redirecting a plural to a singular, by redirecting a frequent misspelling to a correct spelling, by redirecting a misnomer to a correct term, by redirecting to a synonym, etc. In other words, redirects with no incoming links are not candidates for deletion on those grounds because they are of benefit to the browsing user. Some extra vigilance by editors will be required to minimize the occurrence of those frequent misspellings in the article texts because the linkified misspellings will not appear as broken links; consider tagging the redirect with the {{R from misspelling}} template to assist editors in monitoring these misspellings.
- They aid searches on certain terms. For example, users who might see the "Keystone State" mentioned somewhere but do not know what that refers to will be able to find out at the Pennsylvania (target) article.
- Deleting redirects runs the risk of breaking incoming or internal links. For example, redirects resulting from page moves should not normally be deleted without good reason. Links that have existed for a significant length of time, including CamelCase links and old subpage links, should be left alone in case there are any existing links on external pages pointing to them. See also Wikipedia:Link rot § Link rot on non-Wikimedia sites.
- Someone finds them useful. Hint: If someone says they find a redirect useful, they probably do. You might not find it useful—this is not because the other person is being untruthful, but because you browse Wikipedia in different ways. Evidence of usage can be gauged by using the wikishark or pageviews tool on the redirect to see the number of views it gets.
- The redirect is to a closely related word form, such as a plural form to a singular form.
Neutrality of redirects
Just as article titles using non-neutral language are permitted in some circumstances, so are such redirects. Because redirects are less visible to readers, more latitude is allowed in their names, therefore perceived lack of neutrality in redirect names is not a sufficient reason for their deletion. In most cases, non-neutral but verifiable redirects should point to neutrally titled articles about the subject of the term. Non-neutral redirects may be tagged with {{R from non-neutral name}}
.
Non-neutral redirects are commonly created for three reasons:
- Articles that are created using non-neutral titles are routinely moved to a new neutral title, which leaves behind the old non-neutral title as a working redirect (e.g. Climategate → Climatic Research Unit email controversy).
- Articles created as POV forks may be deleted and replaced by a redirect pointing towards the article from which the fork originated (e.g. Barack Obama Muslim rumor → deleted and now redirected to Barack Obama religion conspiracy theories).
- The subject matter of articles may be represented by some sources outside Wikipedia in non-neutral terms. Such terms are generally avoided in Wikipedia article titles, per the words to avoid guidelines and the general neutral point of view policy. For instance the non-neutral expression "Attorneygate" is used to redirect to the neutrally titled Dismissal of U.S. attorneys controversy. The article in question has never used that title, but the redirect was created to provide an alternative means of reaching it because a number of press reports use the term.
The exceptions to this rule would be redirects that are not established terms and are unlikely to be useful, and therefore may be nominated for deletion, perhaps under deletion reason #3. However, if a redirect represents an established term that is used in multiple mainstream reliable sources, it should be kept even if non-neutral, as it will facilitate searches on such terms. Please keep in mind that RfD is not the place to resolve most editorial disputes.
Closing notes
- Details at: Administrator instructions for RfD.
Nominations should remain open, per policy, about a week before they are closed, unless they meet the general criteria for speedy deletion, the criteria for speedy deletion of a redirect, or are not valid redirect discussion requests (e.g. are actually move requests).

Sproftacchel
- Sproftacchel → Photo stand-in (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: (@subpage) ]
This redirect was created in good faith but I am pretty sure that "Sproftacchel" is a made-up word that was added to Photo stand-in by a vandal. I have found no evidence for the word ever being used before it was added in 2021. See the Photo stand-in talk page for details. It has no (non-trivial) edit history and nothing links to it. I believe it should be deleted so it won't mislead users who search for "Sproftacchel". Jak86 (talk)(contribs) 16:14, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- Keep: From my research the nominator is almost assuredly correct that this is cytogenesis; however, with the length of time that "sproftacchel" was on wikipedia, there have been a number of people who use that term without other explanation. While it should be removed from the page; I think keeping the redirect could be helpful for navigation/information. It's a weird scenario. TartarTorte 17:40, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- In that case, would it be better to retarget it to the talk page section? I think keeping it like it is implicitly endorses the word as a valid synonym. It might be different if the article had a section about the citogenesis, but I don't know if it's notable enough for that. Jak86 (talk)(contribs) 18:06, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- I do think a talk page redirect could be worthwhile; having said that, unfortunately, cross-name redirects to talk are banned under WP:R3, so that probably wouldn't go well with closer. I think that having the redirect without having anything in the article isn't necessarily an endorsement. I just hesitate to call for deletion when there are people now using the term even if it is a neologism. TartarTorte 18:22, 5 July 2022 (UTC)

Template:Eq

- Template:Equal → Template:= (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: (@subpage) ]
- Template:Equals → Template:= (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: (@subpage) ]
Recently, {{=}} became a magic word. This means that any use of {{eq}} in any form will lead to issues with Category:Pages which use a template in place of a magic word regardless of how it's used. The redirect is also not currently used in capacity. I suggest deleting it to avoid encouraging calling magic words through templates. Aidan9382 (talk) 13:48, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- Delete: Per nominator. A largely unused template that links to a now magic word is no longer helpful. TartarTorte 15:52, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- Delete: This definitely shouldn't be a redirect at this point because the content of Template:= is somewhat technically sensitive (due to being one of the few template names that's special-cased by the software). We'd have to either duplicate the template or delete the redirect, and it doesn't make much sense to have a template that duplicates a magic word (especially when its name is longer and less clear than the alternative, yet short enough to confuse many people who might see it). --ais523 16:38, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- Question: Should {{Equal}} and {{Equals}} be included in this nomination? – Jonesey95 (talk) 06:30, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yes. Looking at a similar template, Template:!, it has no redirects. I imagine it had at least one if not more. Gonnym (talk) 07:19, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

Qasim al-Faqi
- Qasim al-Faqi → Qasim ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: (@subpage) ]
Originally created in error by block-evading sockpuppet JawnFamily when moving from Qasim ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr. We already are retaining the correct alternative name Qasim al-Faqih as a redirect, so to also keep this minimally different but wrong redirect seems superfluous.
Moreover, when one types in "Qasim al" or "Qasim al-faq" what should appear is the correct Qasim al-Faqih, not this. This is especially important given that the target page does not mention "Qasim al-Faqih" for the time being, giving readers the impression that "Qasim al-Faqi" is correct. ☿ Apaugasma (talk ☉) 01:00, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- Comment: I originally declined the speedy-delete WP:G5 nomination because technically, the redirect wasn't created by the sockpuppet (see the history) and if one person made an error in titling the article, another person might also, so the redirect seemed plausible. My edit summary had mistakenly recommended discussion at WP:MFD instead of here at RFD, so I have just moved it here. ~Anachronist (talk) 13:35, 5 July 2022 (UTC)

Redirect topic no longer mentioned on the target page, but these two terms seem to mostly be associated with Vyond/GoAnimate videos. Keep or delete? I'd like to request that this page be deleted rather than re-directed to Anthony Wayne. There is an existing page Isaac Wayne (1699-1774) but this page has a slight difference spelling "Issac Wayne (1699- 1774)" and has been incorrectly re-directed to Anthony Wayne. Martial arts craze
- Martial arts craze → Modern schools of ninjutsu (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: (@subpage) ]
Seems rather vague. I don't see why schools that teach martial arts is an appropriate target. Retarget to Martial arts or delete. MB 07:39, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- Delete This isn't an appropriate target, and it turns out that nobody thought that it was; this redirect wasn't created intentionally. Rather, it came about as a consequence of multiple rounds of bot-driven double-redirect fixing as a consequence of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Neo-ninja; as far as I can tell this would have been a quadruple redirect if not for the bot fixes, and some of the individual steps along the chain were a little dicey in the first place. It isn't surprising that, after what is effectively a bot-driven game of Chinese whispers, the resulting redirect doesn't make any sense. --ais523 16:07, 5 July 2022 (UTC)

- Retarget to Martial arts#20th century (1914 to 1989) which describes the popularisation of Eastern martial arts in the West. Martial arts craze originally redirected to Ninja craze (which made a lot more sense). That title was redirected to Neo-ninja which was later merged with Schools of Ninjutsu, and still later renamed to the current target. I tend to agree that that is too vague even for its original target. I also think that Ninja craze ought to be retargeted to Ninjas in popular culture#Modern popular culture which does indeed describe a modern ninja craze. SpinningSpark 08:40, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- I agree with your retarget suggestion for Ninja craze, but you can probably do it boldly; it shouldn't need a second RfD. I'm not so sure about the suggestion for the redirect under discussion, though. --ais523 21:03, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

Tramping
I recently changed the target of this redirect from Hiking to Tramping in New Zealand, owing to Tramping being a term mostly exclusive to New Zealand whose subject is better covered by the latter article than the general article on hiking. That edit was reverted, so I figured it would be a better course of action to open a RfD instead to hold a broader discussion rather than attempting to change it again. I'd also note that, as far as I can tell, all but one of the articles which link to tramping are doing so in a New Zealand context (the exception being Eddy Joe Cotton). Aether theory
- Aether theory → Luminiferous aether (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: (@subpage) ]
I have just put in a link in an article to aether theory expecting it to go to aether theories. It doesn't, it goes to luminiferous aether. It seems perverse to me to have the singular term not redirect to the article titled with the same plural term. I would have boldly changed it, but all the current incoming links seem to be intended for luminiferous aether. SpinningSpark 21:01, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
- Retarget and change the incoming links. There aren't that many incoming links, so it should be easy to sort out. "Aether theory" does not unambiguously refer to luminiferous aether, and it makes sense for the singular case to redirect to the plural. A redirect to a disambiguation page isn't necessary, because linking to aether theories naturally sorts out any ambiguity. – Scyrme (talk) 21:54, 11 July 2022 (UTC)

- Delete PTC Nine since it's ambiguous and can refer to any storm, but keep PTC Three as it includes the year which makes it unambiguous and harmless. Single-party government
- Single-party government → Government (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: (@subpage) ]
Delete to encourage article creation. This redirect is linked to a wikidata item that corresponds to a government formed in a multi-party republic that only consists of representatives of one party. This is distinct from One-party state, and isn't described in detail at the current target of Government, which would be less-than-useful for readers searching this term. signed, Rosguill talk 20:13, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
- Keep Two possible ways to improve are:
- add a section to the page Government about "Single-party government" vs "Coalition government" and redirect to that section
- edit the page Single-party government and turn the redirect into an ordinary page
- Deletion of the redirect or retargeting to One-party state are not useful.
- Taylor 49 (talk) 20:23, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
- No objection to adding relevant content at Government, but that's something that should ideally be done before the redirect is created, rather than creating a redirect that does not help our readership. signed, Rosguill talk 20:30, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
- Would retargeting to Dominant-party system as {{R from related term}} be helpful? I understand that there's technically a distinction in that a single-party government isn't necessarily a lasting, continuous situation but a dominant-party government is a type of single-party government, and the lead section of the dominant-party system article explicitly addresses the distinction between this and a one-party state, so it may be helpful in that regard. If the redirect is simply deleted it seems like it will eventually just be recreated; someone may even mistakenly redirect it to one-party state. It may be better to retarget it to a section or article which explains the distinction now to avoid this problem. – Scyrme (talk) 20:25, 11 July 2022 (UTC)

- After a quick look: Dominant-party system is less bad than One-party state, still not good. A single-party government still can be a weak government without majority. Taylor 49 (talk) 20:30, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
- We have a such constallation in Sweden just now. The weak Single-party government is tolerated on borrowed time by some further parties sitting in the parliament but not participating in the government. Taylor 49 (talk) 22:03, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
- I don't think a confidence and supply relationship (which is what Sweden has, unless I'm mistaken) counts as not participating in government. If I'm wrong, I suppose this raises another issue that the encyclopaedia could clarify. Perhaps redirecting to a section on "single-party government" vs "coalition government" (as you suggested) would be the most helpful solution. – Scyrme (talk) 22:29, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
- A confidence and supply agreement is not participating in government, at least not as it worked for Theresa May's government. The partner party does not hold any offices, or take part in formal decision making, unlike a coalition. It is just an agreement that it will vote with the government in a confidence vote or a budget vote, thus ensuring that the opposition cannot immediately bring down the ruling government. The partner party is perfectly free to oppose the government on any other issue. SpinningSpark 05:40, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

- Keep - These terms translate Mei Fei (梅妃; Consort Mei), Mei Guifei (玫贵妃; Noble Consort Mei), and Wen Guifei (玟贵妃; Noble Consort Wen) respectively. The name of the article for Noble Consort Wen on Chinese Wikipedia is 玟贵妃 , however on Japanese Wikipedia it is 玫貴妃 .
- Notably, 玫贵妃 is a redirect to 玟贵妃 on Chinese Wikipedia, although the inverse is not true of Japanese Wikipedia. Also notably, 梅妃 is a redirect to 江采蘋 which corresponds to Jiang Caipin. The current redirects on English Wikipedia mirror exactly those on Chinese Wikipedia.
- Assuming the titles of the articles on Chinese and Japanese Wikipedia are correct, and that the redirects on Chinese Wikipedia is likewise correct, it makes senses that their respective translations redirect to the equivalent target on English Wikipedia. – Scyrme (talk) 21:42, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
- Comment I think the confusion on this issue is because there's nothing in the Noble Consort Wen page that refers to her as "Noble Consort Mei", or explains why this term refers to her rather than Jiang Caipin. If that could be explained somewhere, the decision on the redirect would be easier. Tevildo (talk) 17:33, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

This redirect page should be deleted since it is itself a talk page for another redirect page. - Restore to talkpage status, I guess. I don't think it's a very important question whether a talkpage of a redirect should be a redirect, proper talk page, or redlink, but I do think that redirecting a talkpage when not part of a pagemove is generally unnecessary (courtesy ping Morriswa), so, given that we're here, let's restore Special:PermaLink/621976383 and leave it at that. But I'd stress that I don't think discussions like this are a good use of volunteer time. Divine Liturgy of Saint Gregory

The redirect leads to an unrelated article. The Divine Liturgy of Saint Gregory is an Eastern Orthodox liturgy of the Western Rite Orthodoxy (source). I would've suggested retargeting to Violence in art but that article does not yet have any information specific to television. - Keep and think again. Which percentage of violence would you say comes from language (or sound) in movies? Be specific. If we talk about the US, at least on TV four letter words are bleeped out, aren't they? I don't know how it is with cinema presentations. But how often do you hear a one-to-one reiteration of the result of torture or killing in explicit dialogue? In Apocalypse Now, afair, the graphical violence makes up almost 100%. In every horror movie I watched, pictures are foremost. Monsters do not declare whom they will eat and how. They just do it. Where does 'violence' in language even start in general? While your general impulse is probably valid, please prove to me that it's not mainly the depiction of violence that people can and will find appalling, disgusting, revolting. -- Kku (talk) 10:14, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

- The Beautiful Truth → Max Gerson (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: (@subpage) ]
Redirect not mentioned in target. This resulted from a merger in 2011, where content about a documentary film was merged into the biographical article about the film's subject; however, that content was removed before the end of 2011 as not significant or noteworthy, and has never been restored in the intervening decade. So there's just no purpose to retaining a redirect if there's no content in the target article to explain why it's redirecting there. Bearcat (talk) 18:56, 10 July 2022 (UTC)

- Redirect both to Antisocial personality disorder as the other article only mentions "dissocial" in the context of the disorder, while the disorder article explains that "dissocial personality disorder focuses on affective deficits" and thus explains it better. GreenReaper (talk) 12:33, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- Both should redirect to Anti-social behaviour. I originally created the Dissociality redirect for use at ICD-11. In the ICD-11, there are no separate personality disorder categories in the traditional sense. Instead, the ICD-11 uses two categories: Personality disorder (6D10) and Personality difficulty (QE50.7). Both are measured by five treats, with Dissociality (6D11.2) being one of them. Both redirects should not point to Antisocial personality disorder because the ICD-11 considers this category to be somewhat obsolete, even though many believe that category-based diagnosing should be retained. Cheers, Manifestation (talk) 15:36, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- Comment: There is currently no #ICD-10 paragraph in the article Antisocial personality disorder, so the second redirect should be fixed anyway. - Manifestation (talk) 15:36, 25 June 2022 (UTC)

- No, redirects that clearly cause WP:R#ASTONISH situations for a large fraction of readers are definitely not innocuous. Would you prefer to turn LGBT culture into a redirect to LGBT culture in New York City and move the article to "LGBT culture (general)"? Cell tropism
- Cell tropism → Tropism (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: (@subpage) ]
Created as an unsourced stub of 2 sentences in 2008, this was then promptly redirected. The trouble is, the target is a about a different sense of the word "tropism". - Retarget to Endothelial cell tropism for now. It probably doesn't capture all uses of the term, and a WP:BCA is probably warranted, but the article repeatedly uses the term "cell tropism" so seems like an adequate target for now. Mdewman6 (talk) 20:26, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

Shi Hao

There is not a clear connection between "Shi Hao" and Posthumous name as far as I can see by Googling. There is Shi Hao (bobsledder) who is a living person. This mixup caused this page to be tagged as an attack page but I'm sending it to RFD in case there is some connection between the page name and the target that has been missed here. This redirect has existed for quite a few years without challenges so perhaps there is something here that we are not seeing. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 18:59, 2 July 2022 (UTC)

- Comment Worth noting that this term is already mentioned in the Template:Infobox Chinese at the target. The fact that the template autocollapses the transcriptions sections even when there's only one transcription is rather silly: doing so doesn't save any vertical space at all, but hides the mention of the transcription from readers who try to Ctrl+F to find the mention of their search term and end up with nothing. This problem has come up at multiple RfDs. 61.239.39.90 (talk) 02:19, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

United States Olympic national soccer team

Olympic soccer teams, despite nominally U-23, may have up to three players who are over the age of 23. - Redirect to United States women's national soccer team. "United States Olympic national soccer team" could refer to the men's team (which is a modified U-23), but it most likely refers to the WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM, which in the United States tends to get quite a bit more coverage than the men during the Olympics. For example IRC networl, IRX network, and IRC betwork have one letter replaced with another right next to it and there are plenty more. I believe unless networj can be shown to be a common mistake it’s not needed.--70.24.248.109 (talk) 23:36, 2 July 2022 (UTC)
- Weak Keep - A google search for "networj" (then clicking on the "Yes, REALLY networj, not network" link) comes up with a fair number of technical forum posts and resumes with this typo. Doing the same for "networl" does not, interestingly enough; every google result I see appears to be intentional. Same for "betwork". Strange as it seems, "networj" does appear to be a far more common typo than the others... or at least it's easier to find examples via google. Fieari (talk) 06:24, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
- I just checked the typing patterns for this with a couple of fast typing styles; the way a typist's fingers move when typing "network" on a QWERTY keyboard (by far the most commonly used layout in English), "j" and "m" are the only plausible typos for "k" (and "m" is fairly unlikely in the most common typing style, being most likely to occur when using more fringe typing techniques). For example, "l" is unlikely as a typo because the typist would probably have either their middle or ring finger there, blocking the movement of the next finger along onto the "k" – and if they were typing more slowly and had moved it back, they'd have a finger directly over "k" and thus would be unlikely to hit the wrong position. So I'm not surprised that "networj" is the most common typo for this word. --ais523 09:49, 8 July 2022 (UTC)

- Comment. Redirecting to genus doesn't seem to make sense, considering the outcome of a similar species to genus redirect RfD discussion last month: Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2022 June 4#Parmotrema tinctorum. The name is "mentioned" in the genus article in that it is merely listed as one of many species in the genus, but, annoyingly, it is blue-linked, which deceives the reader. A redlink will prevent the reader from circularly redirecting back to the genus page for more non-information, and will encourage the creation of a proper article for the species. Esculenta (talk) 01:46, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- Delete. If there isn't an article for this species it should be a redlink. Tagging with {{R from species to genus}} and also {{R taxon with possibilities}} is better than nothing, but since this has been brought to RfD I think the best outcome is deletion (and then whoever actually creates an article gets credited for its creation). - Keep For all the policy-based reasons that Lugnuts mentioned. A couple of editors opposing a redirect does not mean that we should ignore all sitewide guidelines/policies on acceptable redirects, which clearly permit this redirect. This RFD seems very WP:POINTy to me... Joseph2302 (talk) 16:25, 2 July 2022 (UTC)
- Delete - Few if any of the "policy-based reasons that Lugnuts mentioned" actually apply. ATD says "A page can be blanked and redirected if there is a suitable page to redirect to" which doesn't apply here since the article was deleted already at AFD, and it is debatable (certainly not taken as a given) that this is a suitable target. PRESERVE only mentions redirects in the context of performing a merge which is not the case here. CHEAP has no relevance here as far as I can see. I also don't see which of the 6 reasons for not deleting apply here. While there is a small amount of information about this person at the current target, in order to see it you have to either waste time clicking on all of the countries under B (assuming you even realised you were taken to that section in particular) or would have had to know that the person was from Belarus. Even ctrl+F wouldn't help a searcher to find anything here. A7V2 (talk) 02:33, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

- Setindexify with the draft below the redirect per my comment below. What becomes of Draft:93.0 FM and 93.0 FM is a separate question. Mdewman6 (talk) 19:17, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
- The draft underneath at 93 FM and the draft at DRAFT:93.0 FM are two different topics. "93 FM" is a page listing radio stations advertising as 93 on the FM dial, while "93.0 FM" is for radio stations that actually occupy 93.0MHz. There are many stations that do not reside at exactly 93.0MHz but which advertise that they are 93 on the dial, and for which, you can usually have reception at 93 on the dial. (such as 92.9 or 93.1). An entry at 93 FM for 93.0 FM would interlink the two. -- 64.229.88.43 (talk) 02:16, 7 July 2022 (UTC)

- Comment there is no need to reconcile the two different SIA pages. They can exist as they are and all that is needed is to interlink the two pages, with a see also to each other. The two different SIA pages represent two different topics, one "radio stations representing themselves as 93 on the FM dial" existing at 93 FM (which do not necessarily broadcast at 93.0MHz, but also broadcast at similar frequencies, such as 92.9MHz and 93.1MHz), and the second "FM radio stations broadcasting at 93.0MHz" which exists at DRAFT: 93.0 FM . -- 64.229.88.43 (talk) 02:45, 9 July 2022 (UTC)
- I see, you want set indexes at both 93 FM and 93.0 FM. So Draft:93.0 FM is really a separate issue, and a lot of confusion was created by the one IP creating both a draft in response to another IP's comment and then drafting a separate set index to replace the redirect. I have revised my comment above. Mdewman6 (talk) 19:17, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
- That said, there is the existing precedent of 95 FM and 97 FM simply being redirects to 95.0 FM and 97.0 FM, respectively, rather than being separate SIAs. Going forward, all of these should be treated analogously. If we end up with a setindex at 93 FM, we should strive to create SIAs over the other analogous redirects. - I would agree that deletion is probably the best outcome per WP:REMOJI. "someone's face melting" is not an actual encyclopaedic topic and it's rather ambiguous, the current target isn't really a good fit, I imagine most people would use it to refer to warm weather, hyperthermia or something similar. 192.76.8.78 (talk) 18:35, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

- And someone would be seeking the content at Melting by using this emoji? It's only mainspace links are from articles about Emojis. Based on the external links, it is being used figuratively, to suggest someone is hot, or some other feeling, not the literal physical process. In terms of actual processes, could possibly also mean Dissolution. Mdewman6 (talk) 20:30, 13 June 2022 (UTC)
- Taking the examples of past Rfds linked at WP:REMOJI, we keep redirects from emojis for which there is an article about the specific thing depicted by the emoji, and otherwise we tend toward deletion. We do not have an article on Face melting or Melting face or similar (nor should we be expected to). Mdewman6 (talk) 23:54, 13 June 2022 (UTC)

- Unless there is another fish other than Betta splendens with an English common name of "Chinese fighting fish", which Google does not seem to know about after a quick search, then I think the redirect should stay. Someone searching for fighting fish who is not very knowledgeable may well search for Chinese fighting fish, conflating China with Southeast Asia. - Nick Thorne talk 21:43, 7 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hmm, I'm not really sure... a lot of geographical places could be wrongly conflated with others due to a lack of knowledge, but that could be a slippery slope; what's to stop someone from creating a redirect like "Canadian Civil War" redirecting to the American Civil War, or Irish Raj redirecting to the British Raj? I feel like we should assume most people are at least somewhat competent in geography before allowing a redirect like this. TraderCharlotte (talk) 22:54, 7 July 2022 (UTC)

I think this should be retargeted to Wikipedia:Article titles#Name changes, as with WP:NAMECHANGES. - @LaundryPizza03: I am only familiar with Yezo and Ezo as referring to the northern Ainu / Hokkaido. See also wikt:蝦夷#Japanese. While there is a geminate "s" in Japanese, I have never seen one in any name for the Ainu or Hokkaido. And while there are terms yesso / esso in Japanese, those do not refer to the Ainu or Hokkaido:
- 越訴 -- usually read osso (or in older texts, wosso), refers to a kind of legal suit that goes directly to a higher authority and bypasses lower courts. Made illegal since ancient times.
- 越俎 -- refers to the act of going beyond one's duties or mandate and interfering in the work of another. Rare term, may be obsolete in modern usage.
- Dictionary entries for both visible here at Weblio (in Japanese).
- Looking further just now, I cannot find any Japanese-language sources that use the term Yesso or Esso to refer to either the Ainu or Hokkaido: only Yezo (in archaic usage) or Ezo (in modern usage, since phonologically the mora ye merged with e).

Haw.

The current redirect target is a scientist of at best middling notability. However, "Haw." in political and legal contexts overwhelmingly refers to the highly notable U.S. state of Hawaii - see, e.g., the voluminous Google Books results for "Haw." and court, or of "Haw." and law. I would retarget to Haw. BD2412 T 01:44, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

- Retarget to Haw, disambiguation looks like the best option here. Rubbish computer (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 18:57, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- Retarget to Hawaii. I won't strenuously object to redirecting to the disambiguation page, but the nominator's own argument shows that when you have a single period after Haw, it overwhelmingly means Hawaii specifically, and people who search wikipedia for "Haw." with the period are likely confused as to what this specific abbreviation means. As such, it should go to what that abbreviation means, directly. Fieari (talk) 01:02, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
- Disambiguate, restoring the page to this rev. With the period at the end it is clearly an initialism; for someone trying to find out what it means this would be more helpful than having to trawl through the whole of Haw, where the correct answers are somewhat buried. If retarget, then go to Haw, not Hawaii. Hawaii is not the only valid possibility, even if it is more voluminous — current usage is overwhelmingly in the botanical context, even if not numerous. —2406:3003:2077:1E60:C998:20C6:8CCF:5730 (talk) 02:28, 1 July 2022 (UTC)

Odd unused WP:XNR that links to a category without the CAT: pseudoprefix. Also, this is a bit of a surprising redirect, so I think delete. - @TartarTorte There are nearly 4,000 redirects from various journal titles to this category, see Current Research Publishing academic journals&hidetrans=1&hidelinks=1&limit=500. These also appear to have been created as part of a bot task - Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/TokenzeroBot 6. Something doesn't seem right here, it seems the intention was to create redirects to the article on the publisher, but since the publisher itself is a redirect to this category they were created as category redirects instead? I really don't see the point of a category full of redirects that link back to the category, the category serves no useful navigational purpose and the redirects do not get readers to any kind of particularly useful content about the journal or its publisher (a page which says the publisher was on Beall's List but isn't notable enough for a proper article isn't particularly great). 192.76.8.85 (talk) 15:14, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

- Why on earth would this qualify for speedy keeping? First of all - something being nominated for deletion in the past does not make it exempt from ever being nominated for deletion again. Secondly that discussion was about the category, not the redirects contained within it. 192.76.8.85 (talk) 15:45, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- The discussion was both about the redirects and the categories, and everyone in that discussion understood that. And a speedy because the rationale is ill-considered, and there is nothing special about World Open Chinese Studies Journal that doesn't also apply to the tens of thousand of other redirects and the dozens of categories concerned. Any legitimate discussion needs to focus on the bulk situation, not on World Open Chinese Studies Journal. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 19:07, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- Keep. These categories which include only redirects to themselves were already discussed previously. (They were discussed as categories for deletion, but the points remain largely the same.) In short: they are here to redirect users who look for journals used in Wikipedia citations. Because citations are such a crucial part of Wikipedia, for questionable/predatory/deceptive journals/publishers, we'd like to present the user with a short information about that (of course with citations and with regular oversight from people working on the WP:CITEWATCH project and everyone else). There are no articles even for the publishers because they are not notable, there's nothing else to say about them. The format (mainspace redirects to a category) is unusual, but not against any rules and so far I haven't seen a significantly better proposal. See the previous discussion for details. Tokenzero (talk) 16:56, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- Comment: I would be ok with withdrawing if that's good with IP. In nominating the page I had not come across the discussion linked above. TartarTorte 18:13, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- Delete. Having read the previous discussion and the responses above I am unconvinced that this is a useful redirect. If these are supposed to be a tool for editors then they belong in behind the scenes project space, possibly as part of some kind of "list of predatory journals to avoid". As it stands these are in reader facing article space, and I do not think that sending readers to a dead end category is useful. If a topic is not notable enough for an article then they don't get an article, creating a "Pseudo-article" as a category page so you don't have to follow notability guidelines is just gaming the system. 192.76.8.85 (talk) 18:18, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

Originally a redirect to Middle east respiratory syndrome; currently a double redirect. This was very recently made an article via translation from de-wiki about a band; this edit was reverted and remade a redirect due to lack of notability, which I agree with, but then this redirect to MERS doesn't make sense. I don't see the connection between the Mahers and MERS. Iseult Δx parlez moi 14:07, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- The Mers people article was once at this title; when it was moved from Mers the redirect was not updated. Mers people now redirects to Mer (community), which was created later; the Mer article mentions Maher as another name. It looks like this is the only use; Mahers redirects to Division No. 1, Subdivision M, Newfoundland and Labrador as it's a place name there. Peter James (talk) 17:45, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- Retarget to Mahers. The quickly reverted article [17] was about a band that's probably not notable (though there are some sources online, so it's not as open-and-shut as it may seem at first). The German article was created at about the same time and then got quickly deleted [18]. Anyway, as pointed out above, there are two topics with the name on enwiki, and the small Canadian settlement is definitely not the primary topic. I've turned Mahers into a dab page (preferable to redirecting to Maher as there's little overlap between the two sets of entries). Bhagat Singh was not known as Bhagavath Singh, and there is no mention at the target, so it is unclear why the redirect exists. Jay (talk) 17:30, 20 June 2022 (UTC)

- Comment as redirect creator. The nominator and I had a discussion about this at the redirect talk page. To pull out a couple of my points. The target doesn't mention Bhagavath Singh but the film article does. From Bhagavath_Singh_(film)#Release: "The film opened in December 1998 to negative reviews with a critic from Indolink.com stating that the film spoils the freedom fighter Bhagat Singh's name...". I will be honest and say I can't remember why I did create the redirect but it seems plausible that this film in some way biographical and so therefore redirecting to the primary topic makes sense. If someone could find reviews or even just a plot summary that would likely clarify whether it is unrelated or not. Tassedethe (talk) 18:48, 22 June 2022 (UTC)

Sand battery

The current usage of "sand battery" is for a electrochemical cell filled with sand wetted by electrolyte. However, it is popularly a type of artillery battery [19], and a type of thermal energy storage sytem. The historical usage of the telegraph battery isn't more prominent that the military usage, found in many different wars in several continents. Thus this should either retarget to artillery battery or point to wiktionary. -- 64.229.88.43 (talk) 22:09, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- Given
there is no "sand battery" on wiktionary andthree claimed meanings here that are fairly independent of each other, it sounds like a disambiguation page might be the way to go unless someone has convincing evidence of a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. However, all of that is predicated on resolving User:Spinningspark's observation that those other two meanings (artillery and thermal-storage) actually mention this term. As far as a target for the electrical storage battery, it is mentioned in List of battery types but without any elaboration so that is admittedly a poor target; perhaps by the time this RFD closes someone will have written something more substantial. MB 23:55, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- There was this version [21] which was reverted -- 02:37, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- Use hatnotes. I'm not convinced that the artillery meaning is a genuine term of art describing a distinct type of battery. It looks to me more like a descriptive adjective for its location, much along the lines of "hill battery" or "trench battery". Much more common locations for artillery, but neither currently go anywhere on Wikipedia. That leaves only one other meaning. Use of the term for thermal storage, despite turning up on the BBC, is comparatively rare and mostly in quotes. Looking at gbooks results, they are still mostly for the 19th century electrochemical cell. That puts the electrochemical meaning as the primary topic. If the term is added to thermal battery then a hatnote at British and Irish Magnetic Telegraph Company#Sand battery could be added. The primary meaning may well change in the future, but per WP:CRYSTAL we should no assume that. It seems more than possible to me that better materials than sand will be found and used in the future as the technology takes off and this may turn out to be a short-lived neologism with no lasting notability. The dab now follows MOS:DABONE and brings us a little closer to the spirit of MOS:DAB; including the artillery meaning isn't really abiding by MOS:DABNOENTRY since it isn't mentioned at Artillery battery and the 3 instances of its appearance in other articles are just single mentions of the term regarding specific examples with respect to artillery, but it should really be included. Perhaps a cited definition can be added in one of the articles like Artillery battery, Shore battery, or Coastal fort. Mdewman6 (talk) 23:31, 7 July 2022 (UTC)

- Leaning towards retarget to the DAB page Fool's Day (disambiguation) since these seem like reasonable search terms for April Fools Day but also reasonable slight mis-spellings of the songs. - Retarget to Fool's Day. I don't think an apostrophe should make the difference in this case, especially since the article is about a song (typically listened to, so readers searching for it may not be sure what the punctuation should be). In response to CycloneYoris's point, if the song is too obscure to be the primary topic, then it should be moved to Fool's Day (Blur song); in that case, all of these redirects and Fool's Day can target either the disambiguation page or April Fools' Day. —Mx. - Keep. April Fools' Day (April Fool's Day) of course can be simply called "Fools' Day" or its variants. It's so apparent that it does not need to be stated in article April Fools' Day. A proof is that even Fool's Day (Blur's 2010 song), which the nominator proposes retargeting these redirect pages to, is actually talking about April Fools' Day (see its lyrics: "...On the first day of April..."). --Neo-Jay (talk) 22:47, 14 June 2022 (UTC)

- Keep and I also support moving Fool's Day to Fool's Day (song). The song is a clear reference to the day. The day clearly can be (and is) called "Fool's Day" sometimes, regardless of whether this is expressly mentioned in the article... [23] This google nGram shows that "Fool's day" is used at the start of a sentence without saying "April", but searching for "fool's day -april" [24] returns 0 results, showing that these references to a "Fool's day" are in fact referring to the one in April. Despite the existence of the disambiguation page, this is an unambiguous redirect with a primary topic. If they were actually looking for the song, they can easily find the disambiguation page once they reach the page for the day. Fieari (talk) 04:32, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

Within the field of firearms, it still does not appear to unambiguously refer to a varmint rifle, with most results either being about companies named Survival Arms or descriptions of "aircrew survival arms" that are not limited to this sort of rifle. Survival weapon, meanwhile, again primarily seems to refer to "aircrew survival" contexts, and appears to refer to a wide range of light weaponry not limited to a varmint rifle ([25], [26]). In the absence of evidence that the search term refers to any target in particular, deletion seems appropriate, although many of these would be appropriate redirects to Aircraft survival weapon, a likely notable topic. signed, Rosguill talk 17:57, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

- Delete most (except Libran, which should be a dab page). Most of these started off as very brief articles in 2006 before getting prompty redirected: there's no content to salvage there. The relevant conent in the proposed targets is slim, and there's no inherent reason why these elements of the fictional universe should redirect to the one episode that currently happens to mention them. If there are any readers looking for those topics, then they're probably better served by the search engine: it will throw up whatever pages will have relevant content at the time. – Uanfala (talk) 22:49, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

It seems clear to me that this emoji does not represent confusion but disconfort or being upset. Therefore, the redirect should either a) be retargetted to Comfort as it is the same place where Discomfort leads and also because "uncomfortable" and "discomfort" are in bold in the lede, b) be retargeted to the Wiktionary entry 'upset', or c) be deleted if no good redirect is found. - I do not know who gave it this name, but this face does not look confused to me. Emojis (see the table at Emoji#Unicode blocks) seem to redirect to what they represent, not to the name given to them (WP:SURPRISE). Veverve (talk) 12:44, 3 May 2022 (UTC)

- Comment/query. While WP:UCRN is about article titles and not about redirects, I think the spirit of that policy is relevant here. In other words, just as we don't choose article titles based on "official names" of things, we shouldn't redirect emojis based on their "official names" but rather (1) based on how they're actually used, and (2) what's most likely to be of use to the reader. The problem is, I have no idea how this is actually used or what readers who search for emojis on Wikipedia are looking for. @Veverve: when you say the emoji represents discomfort or upset rather than confusion, are you speaking about how the image appears to you or how you've seen it used by others? The latter would be a good case for retargeting, especially if examples can be found; the former not so much. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 12:49, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Arms & Hearts:
when you say the emoji represents discomfort or upset rather than confusion, are you speaking about how the image appears to you or how you've seen it used by others?
: I would say yes to both. However, I found no Pew Research Center study on how this emoji was perceived, so the way I saw this emoji being used remains an anecdotal evidence. - None of the RSs discussing it are of any help:
- Dictionary.com states the emoji "expresses confusion but also a range of other emotions, including bafflement, displeasure, disappointment, mild sadness, and self-pity. All of that can be earnest … or it can be ironic, you decide."
- The Reader's Digest states: "We were surprised to find out that this emoji is called 'confused face,' but on further reflection, it does have an aura of bewilderment."
- Veverve (talk) 13:06, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks Veverve. The fact we're bound to rely on anecdotal evidence here makes me lean towards deleting, but I'll wait and see if anyone else can offer any clarity. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 16:52, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Arms & Hearts:
- As with @Arms & Hearts:, I am definitely sympathetic to the idea that it should perhaps reflect the most common meaning rather than just a redirect based on the name. However, if we don't have a single obvious meaning, perhaps a short disambig page would be practical? "😕 ("confused face") is an emoji which has multiple meanings, and may be used to refer to: confusion ; disappointment; sadness..."
- This would let us cope with the moderately ambiguous ones which don't rise to the level of needing a full article like 😂, and it avoids giving a strange result for the readers who do think it means confusion. Andrew Gray (talk) 19:49, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
- Keep - how this appears in different font schemes is irrelevant. Unicode defines characters so that they have a universal set meaning upon investigation. That definition is generally what we follow; WP:EMOJI. — Godsy (TALKCONT) 23:21, 16 May 2022 (UTC)

- Delete. Arguments for keeping boil down to "it's the official name", which I find unconvincing for reasons laid out above, and I don't see any significant harm in deleting. Deleting also seems much more closely aligned with WP:EMOJI, which says redirects from emojis
are often kept if the character has a clear and definite meaning ... The outcome is usually deletion if the glyph is unclear
. There's no alternative target that would be obviously preferable to the current target, and I agree with Eviolite that a disambiguation page wouldn't be appropriate (so keeping would be my second choice). – Arms & Hearts (talk) 19:16, 23 May 2022 (UTC) - The current redirect isn't very useful. Despite its official name, it doesn't look very much like a confused face in my browser. Moreover, by landing at Confusion, the reader isn't keyed in on the fact that it even has an official meaning -- the redirection feels like an OR choice by a random editor. Unfortunately, by deleting the redirect we fail to provide even that information. This case would be best served by some kind of list of emojis, or a soft redirect to wikt:😕. Social unit
- Social unit → Level of analysis (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: (@subpage) ]
This was merged to level of analysis, but over the years, any mention of the term 'social unit' was removed from the target. The merge discussion (see talk page of both mentioned articlsS) was not attended - only the proposer suggested it and then carried out the uncontroversial merge. My query is inconclusive on whether this topic deserves its own entry, and as for the merger, I think unit of analysis would be better. Anyway, I am not sure what do; the current redirect is pointless (again, the target doesn't mention it), but deleting it would result in a loss of a past article without an AfD. Redirecting to unit of analysis is not ideal as that article also doesn't mention this. The old article did have some reliably referenced content, and I am frankly tempted to suggest restoring this pre-merge version, which could be AfD if anyone so desires. In either case, this redirect is currently not sustainable. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:05, 22 April 2022 (UTC)

- Restore Special:Permalink/475960620 and send to AfD. That venue is better suited to decide whether this should be an article, interwiki redirect, redlink, or something else. - The 2012 merge (see the "discussion") was a bold action, and so was the 2015 removal (in several unexplained edits [28]) of the merged content. Anyone should be free to boldly revert any of those two actions, and there's nothing requiring sending the restored article to AfD (though Rosguill above has cast doubt on its notability). Deletion is not an option because of the article content in the history that no-one is arguing should be deleted. Deletion, together with redirecting to Wiktionary, should be off the table for another reason as well: we already have an article on the topic right here on Wikipedia: Unit of analysis, as noted in the nomination. It may not currently have explicit mention of the term "social unit", but I can't see how this fact could possibly confuse readers: the article's title and first sentence are about "units", and the second sentence explicitly sets the context as being "social". Just retarget there, and leave the door open for further changes whenever someone makes another big bold edit. – Uanfala (talk) 12:14, 3 July 2022 (UTC)

Deletion to aid internal search results does not help as there are thousands of entries, all pointing to Bowling Green State University. Could not find a reference of the term in context of cannabis legalization on enwiki. Jay (talk) 06:53, 1 June 2022 (UTC)
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: For further consideration of the late disambiguating proposal.

- Soft redirect to wikt:Green state, seems plausible. Rubbish computer Ping me or leave a message on my talk page 17:28, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
- Disambiguate - The idea of some area being "a green state" is a general one that can relate to multiple articles. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 05:04, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
- Disambiguate. If a term can refer to several concepts, and there's relevant content about them here on Wikipedia, then you don't send readers away to other sites or present them with largely irrelevant search results, what you do is disambiguate. I've drafted a dab below the redirect (though I'm not sure how a link to Green nationalism can fit there). – Uanfala (talk) 12:54, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
