You are so Annoying person
In Maithili language Article, you declared that Devnagari(The most widely used script) and "The native name is given in the most widely used script" I question to you How? How can you tell this Statement Devnagari is most widely used script? And also tell me One more thing is this applicable for all language articles or Only Maithili language? Because I am unable to see this thing on Bengali language Article,Oriya Article,Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and also many languages. And Can you tell me why you removed Sotipura dialect of Maithili? Before removing Are you verify this Sotipura dialect on any search engine? Answer is No because If you Check this Sotipura then Google definitely would be show you some information about this dialect. Without verifying you removed this dialect from Article. Same like this fault you also removed Our Image Maithili in Tirhuta script and our Dialect list. Abhinav400 (talk) 18:29, 3 May 2022 (UTC)
- The use of Devanagari is documented at Maithili language#Writing system and the sources listed there. If you believe that information to be inaccurate, you can bring sources of your own and we can discuss that on the article's talk page.
- Now, whether only Devanagari should be listed in the
|nativename=
parameter of the infobox, that's another question. The normal practice is to give the name as written only in the most widely used script: for most languages there's just one, and the exceptions (like Serbian language or Punjabi language) are for cases where both scripts see comparable use. If you'd like to challenge this practice, you can start a discussion at Template talk:Infobox language. I don't know why you're bringing up Bengali and the other languages. See the infobox at Bengali language? It includes only the name as written in the contemporary Bangla script and not in any of the others mentioned at Bengali language#Alternative and historic scripts. - As for the dialects, I don't know anything about them. There may well be a distinct Sotipura variety. But if you add mention of it, you need to provide a source, that's a very basic requirement on Wikipedia. What you did here here was problematic because the content you changed had a source, and that source didn't support your addition. – Uanfala (talk) 21:55, 3 May 2022 (UTC)
Undo
Please note that you undid all my minor editing to the formatting in addition to undoing the addition of Alyssum serpyllifolium to the list. In the future, please be more observant of the entirety of the edit. Abductive (reasoning) 21:39, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- You mean all the spacing changes here? I didn't mention that because it was some unavoidable artefact of the editor you're using. If you did that intentionally, then you need to be aware that it's not helpful. Obviously I'm not going to change the spacing that other editors have used, but for the content that I contribute I prefer to use spaced equation signs in template parameters and spaces around section headings. I'm finding it strange that someone would take it upon themselves to manually change them. – Uanfala (talk) 22:02, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- The guys at WP:PLANTS are removing all spaces in the infoboxes, and I am merely following their lead. Tidying the citations is enabled by a number of tools, and the "tidy" spacing format is shown in places such as cite web and cite journal, and preferred by the majority of editors. Abductive (reasoning) 22:20, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification. Which are the tools that do this "tidying"? – Uanfala (talk) 22:25, 9 May 2022 (UTC)

Thank you!
I just noted that you revived the Find and replace page as a disambiguation page. Although "Find and replace"/"Search and replace" could arguably deserve a page of its own still, this is still a lot better than the redirect to Regular Expression, where I was unfortunate to find a link to the Afd before noticing the page was reinstated in a better form. You deserve a heart-felt THANK YOU for that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.186.55.135 (talk) 15:45, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's better than the redirect, but disambiguation probably isn't the best option either (I'm not sure the phrase "find and replace" is used for, say, the string functions). – Uanfala (talk) 22:28, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
signature
I just realised that you have copied my signature (kidding)
But from your talkpage, I see it was changed between 20, and 21 April. See you around :-) —usernamekiran (talk) 16:40, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
- Ah, so I have! I was trying to make my signature even more basic than it already was, and that was the only step I could take. I must have seen yours before that, so it's possible there may have also been some subconscious imitation at play. Our signatures aren't quite the same though, there's one very very important (in Wikipedia terms) difference: the brackets are inside the link in yours but outside in mine. – Uanfala (talk) 21:18, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
- hehe. One more general difference is that mine starts with a lowercase, and I just realised that yours has a space between the dash, and username. —usernamekiran (talk) 09:45, 18 May 2022 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Chuar rebellion requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. Noping
This mention somehow didn't lead to a notification. Looking at the ensuing exchange of rants, I don't really regret not being drawn into it, but I wonder why the mention didn't work. Maybe it has something to do with your new minimalist signature? –Austronesier (talk) 20:10, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
- That's strange. I have it in my settings to receive notifications when I successfully ping someone (that's a somewhat annoying feature, but I never bothered to turn it off). I'm sure I won't have paid any attention to whether I received such a notification after pinging you on that page, but now that I look at my notifications archive I see that my more recent pings are all mentioned there as successful. That will need investigating.. – Uanfala (talk) 20:39, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
About the recent WP:AE.
Hi, i saw you reported RuudVanClerk and on reading the report, i found that they were involved in disruptive editing like using sources which are not accessible to add those things on articles related to social communities which actually are not supported by source. I saw similar attempt at Koeri article. They use this source, unfortunately i can't see it.
- Nandan, Aniket (2019). "Exploring the changing forms of caste-violence: A study of Bhumihars in Bihar, India". European Journal of Cultural and Political Sociology. 6 (4): 421–447. doi:10.1080/23254823.2019.1668282. S2CID 211457321.
But they added, "Koeris work on the land of Upper Caste Bhumihars", but i think the page 421-447, that they mentioned may not have this particular thing. Also, other high quality sources used in article are contradictory to this. So, can you please tell me whether the pages of this source contain that particular thing or not. ? Admantine123 (talk) 10:44, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
- The paper doesn't seem to have any relevant content about the Koeri. There's only a mention of them as a "backward" caste on p. 423, and then on p. 429 that a particular interview excerpt on the topic of Naxalism came from a group discussion with "[a] group of farm workers and daily wage labourers of Koeri and Pasi castes" of one village in Bihar. No generalisations are made there about the Koeris in general, and there's no indication about whose land those specific Koeri individuals were working on.
- All of the half a dozen or so of the RuudVanClerk's content additions I've checked have featured source misrepresentation (sometimes subtle, often blatant), and that issue was the main reason they got indeffed. I don't think there's any need to go on giving them the benefit of the doubt. Their content additions should be presumed bad unless proven otherwise. – Uanfala (talk) 09:50, 31 May 2022 (UTC)
Would you consider becoming a New Page Reviewer?
Hi Uanfala, I've recently been looking for editors to invite to join the new page reviewing team, and after reviewing your editing history, I think you would be a good candidate. Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; the new page reviewing team needs help from experienced users like yourself. Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision (if it looks daunting, don't worry, most pages are easy to review, and habits are quick to develop). If this looks like something that you can do, please consider joining us. If you choose to apply, you can drop an application over at WP:PERM/NPR. If you have questions, please feel free to drop a message on my talk page or at the reviewer's discussion board. Cheers, and hope to see you around, (t · c) buidhe 00:19, 2 June 2022 (UTC) |
Central Bontok language
@Uanfala: The reason I sent article to draft is because it is not sourced, NOT because its not notable. Articles need to sourced correctly if they are in mainspace. You haven't addressed that lack of sources. scope_creepTalk 14:18, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hm.. I see that you've moved the article again to draftstapce, scope creep. At the time it had a number of incoming redirects, which I had earlier retargeted from the broader article Bontoc language. They appear to have been deleted now, presumably as a result of your second draftification. Would you mind cleaning up after yourself by tracking them down and having them restored, please?
- Also, I'm puzzled by your rationale. Here's what that looked like: it had two tertiary sources: Ethnologue and Glottolog (the latter only in the infobox), and every paragraph had in-text attribution. So in your view, that sourcing is not enough for a newly created stub to remain in mainspace? – Uanfala (talk) 20:41, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Uanfala: They are the same source. That whole series, I think there are either four or six articles in that series are badly sourced. The two references are the same reference in every article and main blocks of each article are unsourced. It not acceptable for brand new article to be unsourced. That is what draft is for. scope_creepTalk 04:37, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
- scope_creep, you're not getting what I've written above. You'll see what I meant if you read the articles: not just the references section, the article text as well. – Uanfala (talk) 07:56, 8 June 2022 (UTC)

D. tenuifolia, BrassiBase, placename style
Hello Uanfala- Thanks for your expansion of the D. tenuifolia article, and for alerting me the the existence of BrassiBase. I thought that resource warranted an article, so I started one. Re the capitalization of Western Balkans and Central Europe: While I'm aware that these terms are used in some contexts as placenames, my view is that in the context of an organism's range, it is more appropriate to treat the terms as merely designating geographical areas rather than as proper-cased geopolitical placenames. I admit I'm likely in the minority on WP in dialing back the inclination to proper noun style; just didn't want you to think my edits came out of pure whimsy. Eric talk 01:06, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for the note! I don't have strong opinions about the style rules here, but my inclination is to go for proper case when it looks like a proper noun, regardless of whether it signifies a political or a physical entity. Also, that appears to be what's being done for example in the corresponding category. – Uanfala (talk) 12:10, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
- I see your take, but I err in the other direction, I guess. Anyway, the nano-article I created yesterday got moved into draftspace for having no secondary sources: Draft:BrassiBase. So I added a bit of text and a couple refs. I attempted to make good general statements in my text, but as this is out of my area of expertise, any refinements you or others might make would be helpful. Thanks in advance. Eric talk 12:59, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
- I was delighted to see that article created. However, this is all outside my normal areas as well (even on Wikipedia, I only do botany as an occasional hobby). – Uanfala (talk) 16:46, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
