Janardana (Sanskrit: जनार्दन IAST /janārdana/) is another name of Lord Vishnu in Puranas but it was more popularly the name of Shatrughan in the Ramayana until the upsurge of Bhakti movement. Janardana means "chastiser of the enemies." It was kept by sage Vashishta when Shatrughan killed Lavanasur in battle. “Janardhana” was a title given to Ravana also.
According to A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada' s commentary on the Bhagavad Gita, Alternatively, it means, "(the Supreme Personality of Godhead,) who can appease everyone's desires" as per swami's commentary on Śrimad Bhagavatam.
