Ensuring that members of society have a home in which to live, whether this is a house, or some other kind of dwelling, lodging, or shelter, is a social issue. Many governments have one or more housing authorities, sometimes also called a housing ministry, or housing department. Housing in many different areas consist of public, social and private housings. In the United States, it wasn't until the 19th and 20th century when there was a lot more involvement from the government on housing. It was mainly aimed to help those who were poor in the community. Focusing on public housing, it does provide help and assistance towards those who are poorer and mainly low-income. A study report shows that there are many individuals living in public housings, there are over 1.2 million families or households. This type of housing was made more importantly to prove people, mainly those who are low income and elderly, with safe, affordable, and good housing units. There are many people who are apart of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), when counting, there is over nine hundred thousand participants in this program.
