Interscope
Heya. The changes you made to the Interscope article weren't completely accurate. 50% of Interscope was purchased by MCA Music Entertainment Group in 1996 -- it was already owned by Seagram. It became known as Universal Music Group shortly thereafter -- well before it was acquired by Vivendi in 2000. I think it's a mistake to go into the changes in ownership so early in this article --- I think it unnecessarily confuses readers, and it's not central to Interscope's identity, which was inextricably tied to Jimmy Iovine until last year. I also removed the information about IGA for the same reason (and because there's a separate article on Interscope Geffen A&M). I've referenced the changes I made with citations from the LA Times, the NY Times, and Hits.
That said it seems like we have some common interests. Let's work together b/c there are some REALLY bad articles on labels! Some spinny, some just wrong. Are you up for it? Thanks, and nice to meet you! Julie JSFarman (talk) 22:58, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
- You're right! I was considering to contact you about how messy Republic Records and I do not know the delay, nice running into you though and thanks for the help. Smarty9108 (talk) 23:06, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
- OH NO...Now that I've seen that Republic article I can't unsee it. AMAZING! I'm on my way out but will hit you back later on. So glad you're into it! JSFarman (talk) 23:33, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
- I know...I fixed it...a little its so tragic lol. I am glad you are into stuff like this too! Smarty9108 (talk) 23:38, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

- The weekend arrives! Started working on the RCA controversy section but a lot more to do. Think I have to go to the library to do it. Do you have access to High Beam by any chance? Julie JSFarman (talk) 22:11, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry my friend, but I do not have any information on it. Smarty9108 (talk) 00:49, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
- Hello, just saw your Interscope edits and I'll comment on the talk page as well but I don't think it's appropriate to include statements from press releases in the article or report on new signings. There are dozens of artists signed every year and a press release is issued each time. If it's newsworthy (as it was with U2 and Madonna) I think it makes sense to include in the article but otherwise not so much. Maybe a recent signings section? Julie
- That's a great Idea. I'll probably get to it later the next day. troublednbored (talk) 04:31, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- I just completed moving the recent signings on Interscope to another section. Anything else? troublednbored (talk) 10:59, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
- Cool! I just did an edit and removed the quote from the press releases (and the press releases as sources). Maybe you can add refs? And/or add other signings from 2014 and 2015? Since you asked and everything. :) I hope you don't think I'm being too aggressive but I've worked in the music industry and as a journalist forever and these label articles bum me out. I'm wanting to be constructively helpful -- you have a talent for this and it would be very cool to get the articles in better shape -- just trying to offer the benefit of my (off-wiki) experience.JSFarman (talk) 19:34, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

Photo requests
Hi! Do you do photo requests in the DFW area by any chance? If so, are you interested in taking some pictures to improve Wikipedia coverage of certain articles? Which geographic areas do you prefer? WhisperToMe (talk) 13:09, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hello! I prefer areas nearby my home such as Haltom City, North Richland Hills, Hurst, Euless, Grapevine, Irving, Southlake, Lewisville and Flower Mound. However the latter locations, I am only able to do on special occasions. Thanks for contacting me! troublednbored (talk) 21:15, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
You're welcome! I would like for someone to photograph the following:
- Fort Worth
- American Airlines headquarters by DFW Airport: 4333 Amon Carter Boulevard, MD 5675 Fort Worth, TX 76155 (it's in the City of Fort Worth but the area is surrounded by the other municipalities you mention) -- This photo is the highest priority for me
If you want to try others, I can start a list with one city and add any that you want to do first/most:
- 'Irving
- Irving Independent School District headquarters: 2621 W. Airport Freeway Irving, TX 75062
- Irving High School: 900 N. O'Connor Irving, TX 75061
- MacArthur High School: 3700 N. MacArthur Irving, TX 75062
- Nimitz High School: 100 West Oakdale Irving, TX 75060
- CFBISD Ranchview High School: 8401 Valley Ranch Parkway East Irving, TX, Dallas, 75063

File:Mariah Carey - Love Takes Time US cover.jpg
CD edition was never released commercially in the United States. The cassette edition was. The CD one was used to promote Love Takes Time. I can't get angry at you because... well, I read your user page, and I can't because we might have same interests. Nevertheless, I am disappointed in you for not notifying me. To the very least, I discussed the deletion of the cassette cover with the administrator who deleted it. Actually, you replaced it with the CD cover, which is not a valid one to me. Ideally, commercial editions should be used. Look at Down So Long; I replaced the promo image with the commercial overseas one. Also, if you want the cassette cover improved, you should have gone to WP:GL/P. --George Ho (talk) 18:23, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
The DRV wasn't successful. I don't know how to convince you to switch the image back to the cassette one, especially since the Wiki-music community endorses all square-ish images used for CDs and vinyls. If I can't convince you, perhaps we shall take this to talk:Love Takes Time. --George Ho (talk) 17:53, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
- Or perhaps we shall consider that when the world does not agree with George, it might not be that the world is wrong? I'm no expert, just saying. Begoon talk 02:43, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
- I kind of agree with George, HOWEVER, if there is not an available US commercial CD cover available, the best we can do is just use a promotional cover, but do not use another cover from a foreign country. The cassette tape photo was uploaded via eBay in which I'm not certain whether we have the privileges to use the file from the uploader and in addition, the photo was self-taken carelessly. troublednbored (talk) 02:51, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
- George will argue for "his" image, to the death, because that's what George does. It's a bit boring now. Begoon talk 02:58, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
- I don't know anymore. troublednbored (talk) 03:05, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

I wish there is some way to change your minds. I was doing my best to give editors a good example of how to pick images. I copied the cassette image from eBay to discogs. I would love to take this to the talk page and make an RfC. However, I would do so if my efforts to change your minds are in vain. George Ho (talk) 08:17, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
I think I might rebut your concerns about uploading someone else's photo. Actually, the copyright of the image belongs to either Columbia Records or Sony Music Entertainment. It does not belong to the uploader himself (or me). I believe that using the image is fair use and does not exceed the limits of the US law. I cropped out the areas to make the image look good. George Ho (talk) 08:49, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
- Okay, how about if we use a Vinyl in the infobox? I'm assuming that "Love Takes Time" was also released as a Vinyl, according to eBay...troublednbored (talk) 02:53, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- Please respond as soon as you can. troublednbored (talk) 03:00, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- The vinyl release did not have a picture sleeve, unfortunately. Normally, I would prefer a side label over a picture sleeve of an overseas release for an older home release of a song. However, CD and cassette editions have pictures, and both formats were popular at the time. Therefore, a cover art is normally preferred to general masses. --George Ho (talk) 18:13, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
- Give me time to remaster the USA cassette cover. troublednbored 00:23, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
- Wait, but for example the single release of "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" by Michael Jackson did not have a cover art for the vinyl release in the USA, but internationally (I think) some releases had a cover art or picture sleeve for the vinyl release. troublednbored 00:33, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
- I did the side label because that was how the single was released and searched for by American customers. I substituted it for the overseas image that is similar to the Off the Wall album. This was released in 1979, not 1990. It's entirely different from newly released singles. Certain editors and I have different perceptions about giving readers an image. It's a long story unless you don't mind...
- BTW, Are you remastering the US cassette one with Mariah Carey on it? I'll ping Explicit to see whether the image may be undeleted. George Ho (talk) 06:44, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, the one I deleted. troublednbored 06:46, 8 August 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for reinserting the image. I had someone else upload a digitally remastered image. What do you think? George Ho (talk) 06:46, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
- Its excellent and thank you. troublednbored (talk) 08:19, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
