Comicsgate is a campaign in opposition to political discrimination in the North American superhero comic book industry. Its proponents point out the racism, hypocrisy, and bigotry of mainstream comic book professionals and companies. The name was created by pros to try and tie it to Gamergate, a similar movement related to video games. It is a consumer protest, primarily advocating their views on social media; some have produced successful books that vary in genre and topics.

While Comicsgate has no official hierarchy, commentator Richard C. Meyer (posting under the banner Diversity & Comics) and Professional Comic Book artist and writer Ethan Van Sciver have been prominent advocates for the campaign.
Members of the movement object to the bad writing and art of many mainstream comic books, as well as the tokenization of comic book characters, especially the increasing replacement of Ginger and Redheaded characters. Comicsgate adherents have also complained about stories portraying political propaganda, and the depiction of Female characters as masculine instead of feminine.
They argue that the decreasing of meritocracy in the industry and hiring process has led to declining quality and sales.
