- The current month of BLPs we are addressing is NONE. THE BACKLOG IS GONE.
MARCH 2016: See Wikipedia_talk:Unreferenced_BLP_Rescue#Call_for_a_Cleanup_Drive.21
Welcome to WikiProject Unreferenced BLP Rescue. Several Wikipedians formed this collaboration resource and group in July 2010 dedicated to reducing the backlog of Unreferenced biographies of living persons (UBLP) articles. The backlog was eliminated on September 28, 2011, when all articles that were marked as being a UBLP were in a deletion process. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions and various resources; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians interested in the topic. If you would like to help, please join the project, inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list below.
Goals
The Unreferenced BLP Rescue Project achieved its aim of eliminating unreferenced BLPs from Wikipedia by concentrating on one month's tagged articles at a time. We found it was much more enjoyable and effective to do this important task as a team, rather than labouring on Gaelic hurler articles by yourself.
As of September 2011, we have eliminated 40 months of tagged unreferenced BLPs. An archive of our progress is provided below.
Our current task is to maintain the list of UBLPs to a minimum and ensure as new articles are created or old articles discovered, they are either referenced or deleted.
Scope
This Wikiproject covers all articles contained within Category:Unreferenced BLPs.
Current project - Maintenance mode
There are many ways to help keep the backlog to a minimum.
- This search using the WP:PETSCAN tool shows the list of unreferenced BLP articles that are NOT already proposed to be deleted.
- Category:BLP articles proposed for deletion by days left provides a list of articles nominated for deletion by the WP:BLPPROD process, which does not take into account notability, only referencing.
- View a random page from the UBLP list (including articles marked for deletion)
- For lists that show all UBLPs by topic (based on allocations to WP:WikiProjects) see:
- Sports and games
- Regional
- Political
- Music
- Art, Entertainment & Literature
- Everything else (Art, Entertainment, Religion, Science etc)
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography/Unreferenced BLPs lists all of the more generic taskforces associated with the WikiProject Biography
- Or choose from the lists based on allocations to categories (can be slow):
- Or choose from the lists based on allocations to nationality based categories (can be very slow):
Guidelines
Articles should have references from reliable sources added to verify information in the biography of a living person. The format of the citation should follow the guidance provided by Wikipedia:Citing sources.

Celebrating the completion of a month, a trophy is selected that represents a theme or significant event in the work for that month. For example, April 2008 had many Gaelic athletes, and so a Gaelic Football trophy was selected. The image need not be of an actual trophy, but should represent the theme.
