Rollback granted
Hi 0xDeadbeef. After reviewing your request, I have temporarily enabled rollback on your account until 2022-06-30. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or RedWarn.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! ~TNT (talk • she/her) 12:18, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
- Feel free to ping me (or just make another PERM request) when you're nearing the end of the temporary grant
~TNT (talk • she/her) 12:19, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
- @TheresNoTime: My temporary perm is about to expire in less than a week and I want it to be extended. I believe my use of rollback has been sound.

IMDB links
Hi 0xDeadbeef
I noticed you placed an imdbtitle link in the EL section of Saburō Sakai. The reasons for not using that type of link are explained at WT:WikiProject_Film/Archive 79#Masking imdb links as wikilinks. There is a template {{imdb title}} which can be used in the external links section of articles instead, and I've made that change. Thanks. Mike Turnbull (talk) 19:12, 11 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the information. 0xDeadbeef (T C) 14:55, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
Hey
I'm around on Discord, via email, and onwiki if you ever need someone to talk to. I was in a very similar situation to you when I first started out. I understand it can be de-motivating to get told the stuff you've had said to you recently, but sometimes situations are more complicated than they might appear to be.
Just let me know if you ever need anything. –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 01:06, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
- @MJL: Thank you for offering help. I am not doing well in terms of real life so I will have to prioritize my real life over stuff over here. I totally understand that I am probably just an inexperienced users bumping into larger issues. 0xDeadbeef (T C) 14:54, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
twitter params
Hi, thanks for implementing a bot task for my suggestion. This page lists a few more parameters, you may find it helpful: https://github.com/Smile4ever/Neat-URL I saw "cxt" a few times but they are not as common as "s" and "t" Tehonk (talk) 12:35, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- I saw that as well when using AWB. I will change the bot task to match your suggestion. 0xDeadbeef (T C) 14:52, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
Don't give up
You know, when I started editing Wiki, I was discouraged too. I've been through alot through my Wiki career. But through it all, I was able to stay and keep contributing to enwiki. It may seem tough, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel (both on WP and in your real life). Whatever you are going through, i hope it comes to pass.
Good luck with the bot. Rlink2 (talk) 18:21, 14 May 2022 (UTC)

Question from Heili hei
Ask help of editing by from RainbowSilver2ndBackup and SpinnerLaserz without reference. I saw a number of Chinese-themed edits of these user in history. They add things out of nowhere and without sources and explanations, but when I can’t properly use wikipedia I don’t know how to explain it. And they also put sources that are not related in anyway, I went to check this out the links they added and I got angry about this so I started removing these without explanations. Since you know how to remove edits, could you look at these users and undone their edits what can be already from 2018 To 2022. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Heili hei (talk • contribs) 11:58, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @Heili hei: Do you have examples of their nonconstructive edits? I can't seem to find any.. 0xDeadbeef 12:12, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
Your can see from history, example Three Friends of Winter the vietnamese reference p. 30 is not about even this. I search ý nghĩa tùng cúc trúc mai bộ tứ quý and p. 30 mà dã biến thành biểu tượng của nhiều diều tốt lãnh khác.
Theo thống kê của chúng tôi đã có 5 bộ từ quý được sử dụng dont mean In Vietnam, the three along with chrysanthemum create a combination of four trees and flowers usually seen in pictures and decorative items. The four also appear in works but mostly separately with the same symbolic significance. SpinnerLaserzthe2nd has those accounts.. Its sane person who edit this things. Heili hei (talk) 12:45, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @Heili hei: You might have seen the warnings in your talk pages. I'd suggest you to stop removing content from these pages for now. Have a look at Help:Getting Started, and try not to focus on that specific area, or you might be stopped from editing. (blocked by administrators) There are many things you can do here, and it is not just limited to removing content. Wikipedia:Task Center may be of interest as well. 0xDeadbeef 12:55, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
I don't know if it's common. But why this person can even add everything of different culture with multiple user IDs. When the Korean wiki does not even have its own page on the matter? I don’t think one person even knows so much about different cultures.I see this user edits the wikipage last edited. Where to see all of this user edits? Heili hei (talk) 13:06, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Heili hei: From my end it looks like their use of multiple account names are legitimate. On a second note, you can't know for sure if they are experts on the matter or not. You only know when they are adding information with references and when they are not. 0xDeadbeef 13:12, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
I've also add new info in wikipages, not only deleted. But I look at the instructions, thanks for the suggestion :) . The wrong source information on the subject can't be deleted if there I'm not administrator? Why the administrator is not doing anything about his edits? Heili hei (talk) 13:11, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Heili hei: You are encouraged to add contents first instead of removing other people's edits. You can also try to add some references to claims that don't have references. 0xDeadbeef 13:17, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
If you notice that they put the wrong or editing with out refrence what should you do? Can I report it somehow. Heili hei (talk) 13:15, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- The most straightforward, and non-confronting way, is to add a {{cn}} (short for citation needed) tag to the sentence, if you think it needs sources to prove that the information is correct. It works like this:
Ducks are the best animal in the world.{{cn}}
- Will turn into:
- Ducks are the best animal in the world.[citation needed]
- Make sure that you put it directly after the punctuation mark, otherwise it will look ugly. 0xDeadbeef 13:19, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
It was helpful! If because of these deletions there will be a ban I'm waiting for a ban on ending? Heili hei (talk) 13:20, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- You are not blocked yet. However you are not in a good situation because people have given bad warnings to you. The problem is that if you do something that people do not agree with again, (for example removing things) they might block you to stop you from doing that. I would suggest you to make edits that you are absolutely sure that no one will disagree with you (for example, adding references, correcting typos, improving grammar, etc.) 0xDeadbeef 13:23, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Heili hei: I'd also suggest editing from a computer for better experience. Although it is fine if you do not have access. 0xDeadbeef 13:25, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
Can I become an administrator when I know how to use Wikipedia better. it's difficult? I would like to help others in the same way like you. Heili hei (talk) 13:26, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Heili hei: There are many ways to help people on Wikipedia, and it is not just limited to Administrators.
- If you can get a deep level of understanding of how Wikipedia works and are aware of the policies and guidelines for editing, I know of the Wikipedia:Teahouse where people can ask questions. People who help at the Teahouse have more understanding of Wikipedia than me, so you should try asking questions there!
- From my conversation with you, it looks like you are not at a very high level of writing in English. Would you like to edit for the Simple English Wikipedia? 0xDeadbeef 13:36, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
I don’t think I can undo what has already been done :(, I will follow the instructions better in the future. But what people can give warnings ? Some sites used to be controversial, but I didn’t get any warnings. (Does it depend on the user's authority?) Heili hei (talk) 13:36, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- Technically, anyone can give warnings. But if you are new here, you shouldn't be going around and giving warnings to people. The warnings that you get don't usually stick around for long. If you don't want to be blocked from editing Wikipedia, you can just wait for a month before editing again. 0xDeadbeef 13:39, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
Am still learning English so if I add new info, I'll just give an example of a short sentence where I can find reference. I could check the Simple Wikipedia. And thank u again Heili hei (talk) 13:47, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- No worries. Happy editing!

RE: Draft:Jeff Dyer
You declined this draft as non-notable; however, he is notable as he meets WP:NPROF as a distinguished professor. I adjusted the declination rationale to v as the draft is still poorly sourced, so it's not a biggie. Cheers Curbon7 (talk) 02:57, 9 June 2022 (UTC)

AE review
Re: There has been no change in the sourcing of the article between the previous submission ... — Preceding unsigned comment added by SirWumpus (talk • contribs) 01:44, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
1/ Not sure how this works but https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Anthony%27s_Editor#History
vs the Wiki French version from some 3rd party 10y ago: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony%27s_Editor
How is my version less than the French?
2/ I'm unclear how to show more significant coverage beyond the direct history I know (tried to share images of published pages but was dinged by Wiki).
3/ Compared to the French version, I thought I provided more background. (Merde). — Preceding unsigned comment added by SirWumpus (talk • contribs) 01:31, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
(I do read French so know what I speak.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by SirWumpus (talk • contribs) 01:54, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hello @SirWumpus: our guidelines around notability and what articles should be included is stricter than French Wikipedia. There needs to be significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject. Most of your sources are debian, github, CUG, and IOCCC which are not reliable sources by Wikipedia standards. The book does not seem to mention AE so it currently fails our criteria for inclusion. (See also WP:GOLDENRULE, WP:General Notability Guideline and WP:Notability (software)) 0xDeadbeef 02:09, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- I don't know if you have noticed, but someone else submitted your draft for review after the first time. (See here) Hence I commented saying that there has been no improvement in sources. 0xDeadbeef 02:12, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- > The book does not seem to mention AE...
- Which book?** There are 2 books and a mag.
- I have physical copies of all 3 references.
- WHO could submit other than me? Only 3 users appear in the history (SirWumpus (Me), some Revtube (assumed Wiki bot), and 0xDeadbeef (well overcooked)) WHO is that user but my self to be (and yes I connect from a few IPs since the recent Ottawa storm that might reset some IPs).
- If you need public key setup then sure, point me at it. Didn't know was needed. Can do. SirWumpus (talk) 03:13, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- So weaker FR rules. I update the FR article and make the English look like chumps. SirWumpus (talk) 03:41, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- @SirWumpus: It was Revtube who submitted the draft for review again.. 0xDeadbeef 03:48, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- There is no need to setup a public key. 0xDeadbeef 04:02, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- The question of "which book" reference is still unanswered. SirWumpus (talk) 21:16, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- @SirWumpus: I was referring to The Craft Of Text Editing. 0xDeadbeef 23:40, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- Oh. AE is not mentioned in "The Craft Of Text Editing" book. I cited it because it was one of sources that explain the "Buffer Gap" technique used in AE's design (and Emacs). The 3 publications cited reference AE directly. The IOCCC reference was the 1st time the first version of AE was shown to the public. SirWumpus (talk) 16:07, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
- @SirWumpus, consider discussing notability at Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk, which will probably attract more attention from those who are more competent at evaluating the sources. 0xDeadbeef 05:05, 21 June 2022 (UTC)

Edit to rustlang page
I noticed you reverted my edit, but I was thinking that notability applies to lists per WP:LISTN and not article content. Is there something I am missing? If so, feel free to remove my edit once again. Thanks again for all the work you do, we really appreciate it. Rlink2 (talk) 15:26, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Rlink2 thanks for bringing this up. I want to bring the article to GA status and the current state of sources fails WP:V because a lot of them are WP:SELFSOURCE. For this concern, I am not sure if we should have cranelift in the article. 0xDeadbeef 22:39, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- Oh ok, that makes way more sense now. I just self-reverted. I was just confused because it said notability, but under WP:V and sourcing it makes more sense.
- Maybe i'll pick up on GA review by reveiwing this when you are done (I didn't have any major contributions to the article; and the only one i had was just reverted)
- Have a wonderful day! Rlink2 (talk) 22:45, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
