Hi there! Could you revoke talk page access for a user you blocked, Keerthimurugesan? He's repeatedly copypasted his fake article content on his talk page after the block. I think it's only a matter of time before he does it again. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 18:46, 30 July 2022 (UTC)

Draft:Priority Technology Holdings
Help me understand how the article I created for the company Priority Technology Holdings was "Advertising" or "Copyright Infringement". I simply listed factual information about the company and its business focuses, and used pages of very similar companies fiserv as reference to structure the content. I populated the page using information from their investor relations page and cited it accordingly. Thank you. Erichpmeier (talk) 22:51, 30 July 2022 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Erichpmeier (talk • contribs) 21:53, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
- Erichpmeier, the article was a "this is what we sell", sourced only to the company itself, not independent verifiable sources. It was also a copyright violation of Priority's website. You are also clearly the same as blocked account 207.141.198.18, so I'm blocking you for block evasion Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:46, 31 July 2022 (UTC)
First and foremost, there has been absolutely zero ban evasion (until now). I started my first wikipedia account last week to learn to edit and create pages, in hopes that I could eventually create a page for this company. This has been a learning experience for me but I assure you I have absolutely no idea why my IP address was banned previously. I'm working from a company computer, so maybe that's it? This is incredibly discouraging.
Secondly, I find your approach of indiscriminately deleting pages (which you've done 170k times, apparently) to be at odds with the ethos of Wikipedia. I've done some reading and the narrative around moderators like you and the environment you create is what prevents a lot of people like me from learning how to properly contribute to Wikipedia. If there are ways I can improve the article, wouldn't it be better to maybe provide some pointers or useful input instead of deleting the page and banning me permanently? I was in grade school when you began your "career" as a wikipedia admin, so maybe bestow some of you wisdom upon new users in the spirit of IMPROVING the depth and breadth of information on this site.
You can acknowledge that this is a company that exists, is publicly traded and employs nearly 1,000 people. It's worthy of a wiki page and to insinuate that this is purely promotion is asinine. Work with me here...
Lastly, any "reliable source" that has information on this company is simply referencing information that was originally provided by the company itself. I can reference outside sources but those sources are informed by the company's website. It's a circular reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.159.24.33 (talk) 17:21, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
- First, it's clear from what you have said that you have no interest in Wikipedia other that promoting your company.
- Secondly, your ip address was banned because you did not declare that you are a paid editor, as required by our T&C ("paid" includes being an employee, not necessarily specifically to write the article
- I delete many pages because people assume it's free advertising. It isn't.
- Existing is not a criterion for notability, nor is number of employees. If you say there are no sources independent of the company, it's not notable by definition. Notability depends on there being genuine independent sources.
- I've already explained why your article appears promotional above
- Jimfbleak - talk to me? 18:03, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
How did I indicate I have no real interest in Wikipedia? I said I started my account to learn how to create and edit. If I'm going through this level of effort, I clearly care about learning how to utilize the platform. And this is not my company by any stretch of the imagination and has nothing to do with my job. I've also donated to Wikipedia on several occasions... not that I need to justify my use of this open source platform.
Secondly, by your definition, I could easily cite hundreds and hundreds of company pages that aren't noteable in any way. I sent you Fiserv as an example... that article is flagged left and right for violations but remains posted nonetheless. Stripe, Inc. is another example. They are notable but Priority is not? The intent of the creation of this page is not to sell products, but to inform readers of what the company does. Retail investors who rely on sources like Wikipedia to research where they will invest their hard earned money should be able to easily access information about this company. Sources regarding the company exist outside of the company, but my point was that many of those sources reference information that the company itself provides. I'm more than happy to find other sources but I'm not in any way confident that this will appease you.
It's clear that moderators like you are simply creating barriers to entry that are so high that you have to either have 20+ years of experience on this platform, or hire a company to do your article creation for you. Completely antithetical to the notion of epistemological pursuit. It's easier and more intuitive to become a citizen of another country than it is to write a single wikipedia article. Every counterpoint I render, you'll have another subjective rule or stipulation you can pull out of your back pocket. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.159.24.33 (talk) 18:40, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
- Erichpmeier, if you think I'm being unreasonable, do the following. You can still edit your talk page, and appeal your block by copying the following, completing it with your reason and saving it. {{unbiock|reason= }} That will create a pink box and soon attract the attention of an admin (not me).
- The fact that other articles have not been deleted doesn't help you, either they met the criteria or should be deleted as well. See What about article x?. Also note that many articles would have been accepted before the notability guidelines were made stricter. And that both have numerous references, not just a company self-reference.
- Retail investors who rely on sources like Wikipedia to research where they will invest their hard earned money should be able to easily access information about this company. —How is that not promoting your company?
- hire a company to do your article creation for you— really bad idea. Paid editors by definition, and many don't actually know what they are doing Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:09, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- I'm also going to be painfully blunt here: Retail investors have access to far better sources than a crowd-sourced, unvetted encyclopaedia. Any professional relying strictly on Wikipedia for their job is a fucking idiot. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v a little blue Bori 18:40, 5 August 2022 (UTC)

- Hydhomboy64, you can always resubmit, but take your time and look at other biographies here before you do so Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:56, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

We'll that cat's out of the bag. 😜 That's how I knew for sure they have a COI. I also noticed the mass-production of low notability pages. Not inclined to unblock. I guess I had a reason for not declining the unblock, but it eludes me now. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 09:50, 2 August 2022 (UTC)`
Genius Group
Hi, Jimfbleak. Can you please move the Genius Group page that you deleted recently to draft space? So that I can improve the article by removing the promotional content and the copyrighted content. Trepar (talk) 05:55, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

Jim Zockoll
Hi, Jimfbleak. Could you please guide me on your objections to an entry being created for Jim Zockoll. Jim is a pioneer within UK franchising, and his history in the founding of Dyno seems apt to be made available on Wikipedia. This information would be in addition to the current Wikipedia content that exists for Dyno found here: [(company)|https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyno_(company)]. Any information or rationale you can provide would be appreciated. --Zockoll (talk) 11:10, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

Panay Electric Company
Hi, Jimfbleak. Could you please move the page you just deleted Panay Electric Company [1]] to draft space so I can improve it and remove all the copyright violations (G12) and unambiguous advertising or promotion (G11)? Thank you. (talk) 16:00, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

Irving Dilliard
Hi @Jimfbleak, thank you for your comments about the copyright infringements on my draft "Irving Dilliard" proposed Wikipedia page. That was my first attempt at anything like this so it's all a steep learning curve for me (it took me a bit to even think I've figured out how to comment on this page to you); I thought I had attributed and cited the sources I used (and, admittedly, I used extensively, as I felt they were much more authoritative than I could be, but, I see that just sourcing and citing them is still not adequate now). I would like to try to write something up again on Irving Dilliard if that's possible, this time adhering to the Wikipedia guidelines (apologies again) more closely and with more awareness. I guess I don't know exactly how to go about writing a new proposed page on him at this point? Can I just do that as I did the first attempt, on that same page, using the same title (just his name, as it's a bio. page)? Thanks much. Mschusky (talk) 21:41, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
- Mschusky you can recreate at the same place, although Draft:Irving Dilliard is preferable. Two points
- You seem to have repeated all your reference urls at the bottom of the page, I have no idea why.
- You need wikilinks, like Collinsville, Illinois, Glen Carbon, Illinois and leukemia

create a page
hey i have a question about creating pages. i wanted to create the page "breakdance at the 2024 summer olympics". but i cannot create the page or upload something to it do you know why it isn't possible. and how can i create it? and i made a draft of it so should i send that you or something. FolmNL (talk) 10:59, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
- FolmNL as a new editor, you can't create an article directly until, I think, you have made 10 edits and waited four days. You can create a draft at Draft:Breakdance at the 2024 Summer Olympics, which is in any case a good idea for an inexperienced editor, or you can stick with your sandboxed version for now. There is no question of it being an article until it has independent verifiable sources. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what an organisation claims or interviewing their management. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:43, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
- Also, some of your text, like the months, is in Dutch Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:51, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
- FolmNL , you could, but that's a really bad idea because as it stands it would be rejected immediately. You have no in-line refs at all, see Modern pentathlon at the 2024 Summer Olympics Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:52, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
