ITN recognition for 2019–20 Lebanese protests
On 23 January 2020, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article 2019–20 Lebanese protests, which you updated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. Stephen 01:04, 23 January 2020 (UTC) |
Avoid close paraphrasing
Nice to see all your contributions at Late-2019 Sudanese protests! :)
A request, though: please have a look at Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. The way that sentences and phrases are written in media sources are generally not quite appropriate for the context of a Wikipedia article. If pieces of sentences really are written perfectly, then quotes should be used. But in practice, you need to seek out the factual type pieces of information claimed by the source and write them in a way that makes sense here on the Wikipedia. If you're a bit uncomfortable in English, don't worry: it's better to write in wrong English rather than using copy/pastes from the sources. Other Wikipedians will (sooner or later) tidy up the English if they think it doesn't sound smooth enough; it will be easier for them to do the tidying (copyediting) if they do not have to check all the sources to remove copy/pasted material.
A computer screen + keyboard make it easy to copy/paste; but that's a bad idea here, except for "quotes" (or reference titles). Your only safe option for Wikipedia (or original writing) is to type out sentences yourself, after thinking of the meaning of what's in the sources.
Again: please read through Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing: other Wikipedians have put in a lot of effort to make that a good guide. Boud (talk) 00:08, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for the advise Boud, will try again now that I've read these guidelines. Idealigic (talk) 11:32, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
Iranian politics general sanctions notification
A community discussion has authorised the use of general sanctions to curtail disruption in articles related to post-1978 Iranian politics, broadly construed. Before continuing to make edits that involve this topic, please read the full description of these sanctions here.
General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

Discretionary sanctions notice
This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor. |

WP:GS/IRANPOL
Hi Idealigic. Excuse the apparent duplication, but the notice of IRANPOL given to you last May was with an obsolete template which doesn't set the notification tag in the history. You have recently edited People's Mujahedin of Iran which falls under these sanctions. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 03:23, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

Hey! You've been doing some great work on Timeline of the Tigray conflict but you're ref parameters aren't fully filled out, you keep only filling out url and title. A cite web template should generally look something like this: {{cite web}}

Hey Idealigic, It seems that you have violated the WP:CRP restriction, probably by accident. The longstanding version of the lead stated:
Then Stefka removed this from the lead asking for sources, with the edit summaryit [MEK] was involved, alongside Saddam Hussein, in Operation Mersad,[53][54] Operation Forty Stars, Operation Shining Sun...
none of these sources seem to say MEK was involved with Hussein in these operations (if I'm wrong, then please present the sources in the Talk page). I recently restored this as
The MEK and Iraq jointly launched several operations against Iran:Operation Mersad, Operation Forty Stars and Operation Shining Sun.
And I gave sources on the talk page. Yet you reverted me - that is a violation of WP:CRP. I suggest you self-revert until consensus develops on the page.VR talk 02:57, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
Noticeboard notifications
Note that when starting an AN/ANI topic about editors, you are required to leave a message on their talk page; pinging them is not sufficient. I have taken care of that for you. (Noting this hear to avoid cluttering the noticeboard itself.) Best wishes, —Compassionate727 (T·C) 15:54, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
- I thought pinging was enough, so thank you for letting me know. Idealigic (talk) 15:29, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
