BOZ's autopatrolled right
Hi Moneytrees. Given the current large backlog at WP:NPP, I've been trying to find editors eligible for autopatrolled to ease the pressure. I came across BOZ (courtesy ping), who you pulled autopatrolled from in February following Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/BOZ. I'm not familiar with the format of CCI, but as far as I can tell the infringements are relatively minor, and BOZ has immediately acknowledged the mistake and helped with cleaning it up: so do you think it would be safe to restore autopatrolled? – Joe (talk) 17:03, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for recognizing me and speaking on my behalf Joe. Most of my new creations since the start of the CCI have been redirects, and this will continue for most of the rest of the year as I go through the remaining half of my CCI pages - I don't want to get involved in creating new articles until I have done my best to help clean up my mistakes. If you do believe I can be trusted enough to restore the autopatrolled right, I will always endeavor to use it responsibly. BOZ (talk) 17:27, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Joe Roe, To explain my methodology a bit, I see myself as having two choices to prevent further violations when I am actioning a CCI or someone with several warnings for copyvio; block or warn. In @BOZ's case, given their acknowledgement of mistakes and resignation as an admin (which I thought was very commendable), it was clear that they "got the message", so a block wouldn't be needed (I also thought one would be too excessive and mean anyways). That left the question of if there was anything else that could be done to lessen further copyright issues, which led to me revoking the autopatrolled right- not an easy decision. While the issues were on the smaller side, some had happened recently at the time and there appeared to be a lot of them. I've spot checked some of BOZ's recent creations and I found no issues I cared enough to point out. It's your choice on giving the right back. Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 21:00, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
