Environmental impact of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine
I recently created an article for the Environmental impact of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Any help would be appreciated. Thriley (talk) 17:27, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
Wikipedia Article on Six-pack rings
The article on Six-pack rings says NOTHING about the danger of these rings to wildlife. They cause strangulation, starvation and death of many seabirds and other wildlife. This information needs to be added under under the Environmental Concerns section, with the advice given by many environmental organizations to cut apart the plastic rings before disposal or recycling. ````
Note:
My apologies if this is not the correct place to offer a comment rather than an actual edit. This is one of my first times contributing and my first in many years. I am in a rush but at least wanted to make note of this concern in case someone else is able to address it before I am.
Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Crescent1661 (talk • contribs) 22:27, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Crescent1661 that is a great place to comment, but you could also do it yourself. If you need resources on editing check out: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Climate_change/Small_to_medium_tasks, Sadads (talk) 00:32, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
Lost Data on Page
Apologies, I'm new here and just trying to help.
On the following page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmental_impacts_of_lithium-ion_batteries) located at the bottom of the paragraph headed "Hydrometallurgical Metals Reclamation" the paragraph suddenly ends. The linked article refers to (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrometallurgy).
"The amount spent over" doesn't give a lot of context, but the author's intent appears to be something about the cost of using hydrometallurgical metal reclamation in a specific case study.
(https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acssuschemeng.8b03545) suggests that "The hydrometallurgical process is considered to be the most suitable method for the recycling of spent lithium-ion batteries."
(https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0956053X21001082) concludes "Under the tested conditions, lower incineration temperatures (400–500 °C) seem to favor the formation of CO and CO2, which reacts with the electrode material starting a carbothermic reduction and helps to improve the leaching efficiency of metals from LIBs without additional reducers that are usually needed."
(https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fchem.2020.578044/full) discusses the hydrometallurgical process for lithium in greater detail, and discusses some other leaching methods in detail.
I hope this helps. VoidMagi (talk) 09:04, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
User script to detect unreliable sources
I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like
- John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14. (
John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.
)
and turns it into something like
- John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14.
It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} and {{doi}}.
The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed.
Do note that this is not a script to be mindlessly used, and several caveats apply. Details and instructions are available at User:Headbomb/unreliable. Questions, comments and requests can be made at User talk:Headbomb/unreliable.
