Welcome to my talk page! If you haven't been here before, please read the below paragraphs.
Are you here because I reverted your edit? If so, please read the below
First of all, click on all the links in the template I left on your user page (usually there will be one), then take a deep breath, remember to avoid making it personal, and post here if you still think it necessary. If your request is a reasonable objection (I.e. I stuffed up, again, since I am not exactly perfect), I will typically self-revert (if the edit is still live), strike the warning template, and leave an apology note below it. If, however, the edit cannot be reinstated in its current form, but can be made suitable, I will give some direction to policies, guidelines or help pages, and suggest that you try to fix it yourself first (you will probably learn more this way than if I do it for you). If you still aren't sure how to fix it, then let me know and I will make the requested change. Dealing with discussions which need to be put on hold for a bit
If I am acting a bit odd-er Should I ever go on some random vandalism spree or start acting much weirder than usual, don't waste time warning me here, just limit the damage and block me immediately, as my account would have been compromised. Archiving and deleting I tend to keep this page trimmed down a bit, and will usually archive finished discussions fairly quickly (usually in less than a week). I don't like to delete them entirely, unless it is mere vandalism or personal attacks with no real critical value. Personal attacks with critical value will be archived as usual. I also delete any sort of "awards" given by editors later found to be sockpuppets, or evading a block. The archives can be found at Archive 0 (an old version of my talkpage) and /Archive 1. Stay safe and happy editing! Mako001 (C) (T) |

Edits to Beatrice Huntington page
Hi, you've just removed pictures that I added to the Beatrice Huntington page. I'm new to this, but I added them on purpose - please reinstate. Many thanks. TWSFAS (talk) 13:27, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, my bad, I didn't notice that you had added some photos as well.
- I will explain what the issue was:
- Basically, you can only specify one dimension for image sizes (e.g "180x200px" is an invalid entry, so it will not work correctly), even so, usually the size is not set as a specific number of pixels (e.g 200px). See WP:Images for more details on this.
- Also, I'm not sure why you added a few hundred spaces to the page, but you may want to read up a bit more on Markup and play around with it a bit in your sandbox until you get used to it.
- I can't reinstate the edit right now as I need to get some sleep, but you are welcome to re-add the images yourself. If it doesn't work quite right, or you still haven't added them by tomorrow, I'll do it myself, but I'll let you have a go at getting it right first. You can copy part of the article to your sandbox if you want to try formatting stuff there without messing up the article. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 13:53, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
Update about mind-blindness cleanup tags
Hey Mako001, it's been a couple of months since our discussion about Mind-blindness which was here. Since then I've learned more about how Wikipedia works and issue templates, and read the documentation for the "expert needed" template at Template:Expert_needed. Since I recognise now the initial tag was rather vague and it is not obvious how the tags still apply to the article, I've removed them again, this time making it clear that more specific issue templates would be beneficial. If you had any more specific cleanup tags in mind I encourage you to leave them on the article/sections/inline with more detailed explanations on the talk page if you can.
Wish you a happy day :) Darcyisverycute (talk) 13:34, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Darcyisverycute: Thanks, I'll take a look later, I might be able to help with the article itself as well. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 13:41, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Darcyisverycute: It looks like the issues have been resolved. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 09:47, 26 June 2022 (UTC)
Think Tools
Good day, I understand why my post was deleted ie no citation. I published two books on Amazon which I will citate, if it is in order?
Want to ask a question.
Think Tools are not exactly the same as Thinking Tools, does it need a separate page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CasOlivier (talk • contribs) 11:02, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- @CasOlivier: Before you add the content you want to add, I would like to ask you to consider the policy on "original research" and consider whether what you want to add would violate that policy. I would suggest you thoroughly at the criteria for inclusion and the content policies before you continue, as it is easy to fall into certain pitfalls when adding content when you are closely associated with the topic. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 12:16, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- I can't really answer whether you could cite those books, but they would need to be considered reliable sources according to Wikipedia's standards. If you read the pages I have linked to it may help to answer your questions. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 12:19, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
Scream
The page is bloated with reference that state the same thing. There is no need for 3 different websites that announce the release date, another 3 for every member of the cast, and so on. I suggest one reference and use the <ref name> command for the rest of the article. 186.12.116.89 (talk) 05:09, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
Mission failed successfully I guess?
Hello, I see you reverted the image edit I did on your user page, which is quite ironic due to the reason why I did that. So, if you have seen the edit summary (which you probably have), I was attempting (and failing) to make a joke on that section. I found this 5-month-old fake 'last warning' notice made by a vandal who was peeved that all of his edits were being reverted by you and I thought it would be funny to add a stop sign to the 'semi barnstar' and add sarcasm to the edit summary. To my d̶i̶s̶p̶l̶e̶a̶s̶u̶r̶e̶ pleasure, you reverted my edit with the short edit summary 'Rollback edit(s) by Spodle (talk): Vandalism (RW 16.1)'. I find it quite ironic that you reverted my edit that was meant to mock a guy who was mad at you reverting his edits. My apologies for the bad joke and have a nice day on Wikipedia! :D SpodleTalk 05:49, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Spodle: I was a little confused as to why it was being done, and the joke looked at first glance like a rather oddly written insult by an LTA. I reverted first, then read the joke a bit more closely later, and then got it, but I was running out of break time by then. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 11:00, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
- Oh, my apologies for the really bad edit summary then. I thought that making an assumption that the joke would be easily understandable would be a safe bet, but it pretty much backfired (seeing your revert). (P.S: I thought that LTA stood for Long -Time-Adminstrators. Seeing the actual page, well you can fill in the blanks to see why I made (another) bad assumption.) SpodleTalk 11:37, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
New Page Patrol newsletter June 2022
Hello Mako001,
- Backlog status
At the time of the last newsletter (No.27, May 2022), the backlog was approaching 16,000, having shot up rapidly from 6,000 over the prior two months. The attention the newsletter brought to the backlog sparked a flurry of activity. There was new discussion on process improvements, efforts to invite new editors to participate in NPP increased and more editors requested the NPP user right so they could help, and most importantly, the number of reviews picked up and the backlog decreased, dipping below 14,000[a] at the end of May.
Since then, the news has not been so good. The backlog is basically flat, hovering around 14,200. I wish I could report the number of reviews done and the number of new articles added to the queue. But the available statistics we have are woefully inadequate. The only real number we have is the net queue size.[b]
In the last 30 days, the top 100 reviewers have all made more than 16 patrols (up from 8 last month), and about 70 have averaged one review a day (up from 50 last month).
While there are more people doing more reviews, many of the ~730 with the NPP right are doing little. Most of the reviews are being done by the top 50 or 100 reviewers. They need your help. We appreciate every review done, but please aim to do one a day (on average, or 30 a month).
- Backlog drive
A backlog reduction drive, coordinated by buidhe and Zippybonzo, will be held from July 1 to July 31. Sign up here. Barnstars will be awarded.
- TIP – New school articles
Many new articles on schools are being created by new users in developing and/or non-English-speaking countries. The authors are probably not even aware of Wikipedia's projects and policy pages. WP:WPSCH/AG has some excellent advice and resources specifically written for these users. Reviewers could consider providing such first-time article creators with a link to it while also mentioning that not all schools pass the GNG and that elementary schools are almost certainly not notable.
- Misc
There is a new template available, {{NPP backlog}}
, to show the current backlog. You can place it on your user or talk page as a reminder:
>NPP backlog: 11180 as of 01:00, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
There has been significant discussion at WP:VPP recently on NPP-related matters (Draftification, Deletion, Notability, Verifiability, Burden). Proposals that would somewhat ease the burden on NPP aren't gaining much traction, although there are suggestions that the role of NPP be fundamentally changed to focus only on major CSD-type issues.
- Reminders
- Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
- If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing
{{subst:NPR invite}}
on their talk page. - If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
- To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

How come the old versions of the page have the quote from the British consul Plowden looking normal but after adding that picture it looks squeezed to the left? - @ZKDemelash: I just checked what mobile view looks like, and it seems to be OK, with the quote appearing below the image. You can also switch to desktop view on a mobile device, by clicking the "Desktop" link at the bottom of the page, or clicking here. That is how I usually view Wikipedia, as I find the mobile interface good for reading and article creation, but not so much for finicky gnoming and other editing. You can switch back using the "Mobile view" link at the bottom of the page. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 12:10, 25 June 2022 (UTC)

Hello, take a look
Hello, I hope this message meets you well. Since you're online, if you aren't too busy, take a look at this page, give pointers and advise and review the page Neo (BBNaija). Thanks. Amaekuma (talk) 12:59, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Amaekuma: I think that some of the words used could be switched for a more encyclopedic alternative, for instance: "beef" would be better as "dispute". "Pants" and "panties" would be better as "underwear" or something similar, since "pants" in some countries (e.g. Australia) means 👖 instead.
- There are also some possible peacock terms in the article ("eminent lawyer" for instance) which are probably not necessary.
- The controversies seem to take up a large amount of the article, and whilst it might be due weight, you may want to review whether it is or not.
- A grammar adjustment would be "He is a cousin to" --> "He is the cousin of".
- I would also suggest making sure that the topic doesn't clash with WP:BLP1E, basically, make sure that he is notable for more than just his participation in BBNaija.
- The last thing I can think of right now would be to check if this is the correct title, as he seems to be referred to as "Neo Akpofure"? The current tile would be a useful redirect though.
- The quality of the article overall is good. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 14:35, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- {{u|mako001} I have made all the adjustments you suggested. Thanks. I'll read up on the Wikipedia editing yardsticks you pointed out. Amaekuma (talk) 18:31, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- Let me know how it measures up against those yardsticks. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 03:22, 26 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Amaekuma: Quite a few of the sources seem to be tabloids. Generally, it is best to avoid using tabloids. Can I also suggest looking at WP:NOTGOSSIP? The article quality overall is good, but if the sourcing can be improved, it will be a lot more likely to survive a potential AfD. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 03:28, 26 June 2022 (UTC)

Reverted edit on Burmese calendar
Hello, I saw that you reverted my edit on the Burmese calendar page. This is my first night editing on Wikipedia, so I just want to double check if I messed up here? I edited "1/30th" to "1/30", and I was going based on the information off of this page. Was I wrong that 1/30th is the wrong misspelling there? Sorry to bother you about this! I'm new, so, still learning. And I hope I edited the talk page right, never done that, either. Hope you have a good day! HeyElliott (talk) 04:36, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- @HeyElliott: Sorry, my bad there, I misread it, I was thinking that it was supposed to be an ordinal numeral. I've reverted it back to the version where you'd corrected the typo. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 10:24, 27 June 2022 (UTC)

One-way quantum computing
Hi Mako001, I'm SebastianoCorli, I'm a new user to Wikipedia. Actually I'm attending the first year of PhD from Polytechnic University of Milan (department of physics), the main topic of my PhD focusing on measurement-based quantum computing. One of the PhD courses I'm attending focuses on how to modify and/or improve a Wikipedia article. I was just trying to edit the page in order to practice: sure next time I'll enhance my performances!
Hello Sebastiano, that is good to hear. If you can get your head around quantum computing, I'm sure you'll find understanding the guidelines to citing sources a breeze, and the Citation templates help quite a bit. If you have access to the material where the information you are adding came from, please feel free to cite it. If you are citing a journal, I recommend using Citation bot, all you need is the doi, and the bot fills the rest! Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 14:56, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot! I'm looking forward to see the results of the new work! By the time, I'll be editing on my sandbox. SebastianoCorli (talk) 15:25, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
Quizlet Wikipedia reversion edit
Hello,
I saw that you reverted the changes made to the Quizlet article due to a lack of references. Any changes to the article become verifiable by simply looking at the new site and comparing it to the old one. However, I've looked for quite some time, but it seems that no major company has reported on this issue. It seems that the company intentionally waited until June to change their site, as it's mostly relied upon students who would likely only discover the change months later. The company themselves haven't even made a statement on it, and rather simply called the period of change a maintenance break. The only other place on the internet that clearly demonstrates this would be their twitter, but that would be an absolutely terrible source to cite. I suppose the only line in my change that would be unverifiable for now. would be the negative effect on low income students and teachers. Quizlet plus is also listed as a controversy, which while it has caused some backlash, I don't believe the full extent of the backlash has happened yet, so I wasn't exactly sure what else to file it as. Basically, most things in the edit are obviously changed when looking at the website, and don't have a source because no other company said anything about it because they have no need to yet. - DeadPixelPro — Preceding unsigned comment added by DeadPixelPro (talk • contribs) 01:17, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- @DeadPixelPro: I'd suggest you read Wikipedia:No original research, which is why your addition cannot be accepted. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 08:49, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- I checked the No Original Research page. While I would have to rephrase some parts, I stated in the edit that certain modes were made hidden. This is easily verifiable and thus shouldn't count as "Original Research". Anyone could just go to the website itself and it would show what I stated in the edit. While some minor changes would need to be made due to a lack of source, the majority of it (the "Hidden modes" category) shouldn't require anyone to do any research - and no one will for likely months, since it's an educational site.
- Here's the website before the change: https://web.archive.org/web/20220613035239/https://quizlet.com/100692359/nclex-questions-therapeutic-communication-flash-cards/ Here's the website after the change: https://quizlet.com/100692359 . That verifies everything in the "hidden modes" category. The edits in the controversies category can be removed until a source verifies it in a few months when it becomes relevant again. In its current state, the article is giving false information (and the logo changed since then, but that wasn't updated in my edit). DeadPixelPro (talk) 03:24, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- @DeadPixelPro: Sorry, but this still really counts as original research, even if you think it shouldn't. However, if you must add it, at least ensure that you make it clear where you got it from, giving both links. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 22:06, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
The Broken Marriage Vow
The year shouldn’t be there since like how the tv article wiki guidelines says. If you look an American series article. There’s no year in there so a year shouldn’t be there. The year should be placed there if it’s a movie article. Like Top Gun for example. 122.54.93.91 (talk) 01:47, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
Change to Buck & the Preacher
Hi!
I just watched Buck and the Preacher a couple of days ago. Madge Sinclair is in the film but she isn't credited. I was surprised when I saw her. I don't think she had many lines, she was part of the first group that Buck helped out. You can see her in the first few minutes of the film. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.40.189.36 (talk) 02:37, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- If she isn't credited, and the only way you know she was in was because you watched the film, unfortunately, you can't add that. That is because Wikipedia doesn't allow original research. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 21:54, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
You removed my edit
Hi I removed feminist from "marxist feminist" because the only proof of a marxists feminist the nyt "arts" article provided was "Nina Power, a British philosopher and self-described “open-minded centrist” with roots in Marxist feminism" (she is an "open minded centirst" not a marxist feminist) and does not mean that the magazine has "marxist feminists" writers just because one British philosopher (who even the nyt does not describe as a marxists feminists) wrote an article in the magazine. Marxists do write in the magazine but not marxists feminists, that is very misleading.
The second paragraph I removed is also very misleading and alot of the info there is twisted from the nyt article, for example the paragraph I removed stated that "initially considered envisioned that the magazine would be a nonprofit supported by donors, but later decided to pursue a for-profit model and incorporated Aponte with the condition that half of the site's content cover "material concerns"." is misleading compared to what the nyt article actually says... and the info about how the site was initially going to be funded seems completely irrelevant. Also this paragraph has outdated info as well when it says that there is a paywall on the magazine when currently that is not true and the paywall was removed a while ago. And the nyt article says nothing about a "subscription based business model" and just references the magazine may have subscribers in the future. Ptero60 (talk) 05:47, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Ptero60: Thanks for the explanation, just remember to provide an edit summary, particularly when removing material. You are welcome to reinstate the edits if you haven't already done so. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 10:45, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

- @Cabayi:: That was largely why I hadn't sent them to AIV, as it definitely isn't a VOA. The first two are definitely vandalism, but the third I'd agree that the intent was apparently constructive. FWIW, I'd say the soft block seems most appropriate. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 12:22, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
Charlie Gracie
I made mention that Charlie Gracie was born the same day as his contemporary Bobby Darin. Gracie and Darin were both born on May 14th, 1936. They were both Italian-American. They were born on the east coast; Gracie in Philidelphea, Darin in NYC. They both began in the 1950s doing Rock'N'Roll, then did other genres such as jazz, pop, country, and folk. In 2022, as this era of artists are mostly dead and/or forgotten, I thought this was an interesting bit of information. I also added this to the Bobby Darin wiki page, saying that Darin was born the same day as Gracie. 69.14.164.134 (talk) 13:24, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, but it isn't encyclopedic to include trivia in articles, hence why it was removed. Even if it is correct, it is still not really relevant to the topic at hand, unless it had some impact or effect on the articles subject, which I would presume it didn't. my edits to "screwdriver"
I'm new to editing Wikipedia, so perhaps you can offer me some personal guidance. Should I have communicated with you directly before submitting my second, more modest single-word edit? Also, I notice that other editors don't use their real names. Should I consider using a pseudonym instead? Ron Blewitt (talk) 14:43, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- Nah, that second edit was fine. It's a bit hard to gauge what the scope of an article should be at times, and it's something you can only get with some practice and by reading a few other articles.
- Regarding using your real name, you may want to read this paragraph on using your real name as a username. If you need any more advice, or would like more details, either ask me here, or ask at the Teahouse. I'm in UTC+8, so it's a bit late right now, and I might not get back to any queries until the morning. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 15:09, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
