He graduated in Engineering management at the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1998[2] and then completed his studies with an MBA from the Yale School of Management in 2004.[3]
Career
Sesana began his professional career working in the main consulting firms: he joined Deloitte in 1999, in 2002 he was in Bain & Company, then in 2004 he joined McKinsey where he remained until 2013.[4]
At Generali
Sesana joined Generali in 2013 as Chief Operating Officer, a role he held until 2016, dealing in particular with the integration of Italian operations.
In May 2016 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Generali Italia,[5][6] from 1 January 2017 he also assumed the responsibility of Country Manager Italy, joining the Group Management Committee of Assicurazioni Generali[7] and finally, since 2018, he’s leading the Global Business Lines of Generali.
He is an expert in business transformations thanks to his long experience in McKinsey. He led the integration process of all five companies that merged into Generali Italia (the Italian branch of Assicurazioni Generali, INA Assitalia, Toro, Lloyd Italico and Augusta).[8]
His first business plan as CEO is centered on the redesign of those key business processes that have the greatest impact on the relationship with customers and agents.[9]
Under his leadership, Generali Italia starts to deal with prevention and assistance services, making use of much more technology: in less than a year were founded Generali Welion (2017), an integrated welfare company[10] and Generali Jeniot (2018), an IoT and connected insurance service company.[11]
Sesana's management has two main focuses: sustainability[12][13][14] (he has been awarded for his commitment by Forbes Italia and Business International in 2019[15]) and the vision of the social role of insurance in which Sesana is also personally committed.[16][17]
Other activities
Since April 2018 he has been a member of the Advisory Board of the International Center of Finance (ICF) of the Yale School of Management.[3]
From November 2019, for one semester, he was president of ELIS, a consortium that includes large companies, SMEs, universities and research centers.[18][19]

- in 2019 he was awarded with the CEO Awards prize for the Sustainability category by Forbes Italia and Business International[22]
