Requests for page protection | ||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
This page is for requesting that a page, file or template be protected. Please read up on the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used only to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, the protection is listed in the page history and logs with a short description indicating why it was protected, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. Further discussion should take place on the Talk page of the article. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins do not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism. Note: Editors should not consider requesting page protection as a method for continuing an argument from elsewhere nor as a venue for starting a new discussion regarding article content. If a request contains excessive argument, appears to be intended to resolve a content dispute, includes personal attacks or uncivil comments, or has any other unrelated discussion, it will be removed from this page and no action will be taken.

List of totalitarian regimes
- List of totalitarian regimes (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – This list is highly disputed, and nearly every addition by an IP has to be reverted because it doesn't meet the sourcing requirements. I don't think IPs have the understanding of policy required to add countries to this list, and if you look through the history, it becomes clear this is a long-term problem. ― Tartan357 Talk 23:07, 20 June 2022 (UTC)

Reason: The protection template was inserted to comply with the BLP policy. However, DMX passed away over a year ago. 92.10.13.209 (talk) 22:47, 19 June 2022 (UTC)

Los Angeles
- Los Angeles (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Reason: There has not been edits from IP for about 3 years. I think this should be unprotected because there has not been recent history and I felt like this page is outdated after I read them. Asides from adding words for content, we should be feel free to add pictures about Los Angeles. And there isn't any section about shopping malls and literature, they need to be included to show any additional information about the city. LA continues to be an international and Major city and it needs more updates daily or weekly. 2601:205:C001:EA0:CD77:605F:EFF3:6FE9 (talk) 00:56, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- Declined There have not been IP edits to this page for 3 years because it's been semi-protected for 3 years. If this high-profile page was unprotected, the likelihood of excessive vandalism returning to this page is close to 100%. This page continues to be edited nearly daily by registered editors. If you'd like to add information to the article, you can either make edit requests on the talk page, or you can register an account (which takes less than 30 seconds and doesn't even require an email address) and wait a few days to be come auto-confirmed. The bar is pretty low. —ScottyWong— 01:17, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- But, can you explain of why if this high-profile page was unprotected, the likelihood of excessive vandalism returning to this page is close to 100%. Any explanation? 2601:205:C001:EA0:CD77:605F:EFF3:6FE9 (talk) 01:21, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- Common sense. And the fact that the page had been temporarily protected a total of 20 separate times before it was finally protected indefinitely. Can you you explain why it magically won't be vandalized if it's unprotected for the 21st time? —ScottyWong— 03:25, 21 June 2022 (UTC)

SM City Mindpro
- SM City Mindpro (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Reason: After being on indefinite pending changes protection for a year and five months with a temporary semi protected for ten days both by Samsara for the reason: "continuing disruption based on an earlier-reported and create-protected hoax", there are no persistent disruptive and vandalism edits in the said page after its protection took effect, meaning the current page protection is kinda useless and doesn't need it to have protection even if without any active vandals and disrupts for a very long time. CruzRamiss2002 (talk) 02:33, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- Unprotected This seems legit to me. Vandals had an opportunity to attempt vandalism while the article was PC protected, and they didn't. I think it's worth a try to remove PC protection and see what happens. Protecting admin is inactive recently. I'll unprotect. —ScottyWong— 03:30, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
