Vkusno i tochka (Russian: Вкусно – и точка, lit. 'Tasty and that's it' or 'Delicious, full stop' or 'Tasty - period' or 'Tasty and dot')[1][2][3][4][5][6][7] is a Russian fast food chain mostly based in former McDonald's restaurants, with a menu that largely consists of rebranded McDonald's items. McDonald's closed their Russian stores in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine; Vkusno i tochka restaurants mostly occupy former McDonald's restaurants that were sold to business magnate and entrepreneur Alexander Govor.[8][9][10][11]
History
On 8 March 2022, facing continued pressure on social media due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, McDonald's announced the temporary suspension of operation of its restaurants in Russia, while also announcing at the same time that it would continue to pay its employees in the country.[12][13] The restaurants were taken over by the former CEO of McDonald's Russia, Oleg Paroev, and remained open as of mid-March 2022.
On 16 May 2022, the company decided to leave Russia altogether.[14] On 27 May 2022, it was reported that McDonald's was selling its stores in Russia to a local licensee, Alexander Govor. Patent filings showed "Fun and Tasty" and "The Same One" as some of the possible brand names for the firm taking over McDonald's in Russia.[15] Shortly after the announcement, the company replaced the McDonald's logo in favor of their own logo.[16] The new name of the chain was later announced as Vkusno i tochka (Russian: Вкусно и точка), translated as "Tasty and that's it".[17][3]
On 12 June 2022, the restaurant chain reopened 15 restaurants in Moscow.[4] The next day, the restaurant chain reopened 50 more restaurants in Moscow and the wider Moscow region.[18]
Menu
According to the General Director of the chain, at the initial stage of the opening, the restaurants will not carry every menu item that they had originally planned for due to supply chain issues and packaging logistics. According to the quality manager Alexander Merkulov, the dishes contain the same ingredients and are made with the same equipment as when McDonald's operated the restaurants, but are served with different packaging.
Unlike the original McDonald's, "Vkusno i tochka" does not serve the Big Mac, the McFlurry, and salads. However, it does serve fried shrimp.
As of June 2022, the chain serves the following items (the McDonald's items they replace are in parentheses):
- Hamburger, Cheeseburger and Double Cheeseburger
- Grand burger (Quarter Pounder with Cheese / McRoyal) and Double Grand
- Grand Deluxe (Quarter Pounder with Cheese Deluxe)
- Fishburger (Filet-o-Fish) and Double Fishburger
- Chickenburger and Chicken Premier (McChicken and Seriously Chicken)
- Caesar Roll (McWrap), Caesar Roll Bacon, and Fresh Roll
- Fries and potato wedges
- Chicken nuggets, chicken strips, mozzarella dippers, and shrimps
- Coca-Cola Zero, milkshake, sundae, tea, coffee, and juice
- Breakfast pancakes, omelet, and cherry pie
