Full Meetup Calendar |
For details of previous meetups please see Wikipedia:Meetup/Melbourne.
- When: 11am, Sunday 24 June 2012.
- Where: Computerbank, 483 Victoria Street, West Melbourne map, just down from Dryburgh Street.
- Why: Since January 2012, when our first Melbourne Meeting for the year celebrated the 11th Anniversary of Wikipedia, we formed a small committee of organisers to try and make sure Wikimedia Australia held these meetups on a regular monthly basis and therefore put in place a committee to make sure this happens. Steve Zhang is the Coordinator of the organising committee, and we also have Anne Frazer, Secretary of Wikimedia Australia, and Brian Salter-Duke, a long time committee member and past Public Officer, who presently make up the committee. In January this year we held our WMAU Melbourne meetups at Errol's Restaurant and in the last two months have moved the meeting to Computerbank. We hope the new venue suits people and welcome your comments as it has been our intention to keep the meetups going on a regular monthly basis. Food and beverages are provided at these meetups and we welcome your attendance, participation and contribution to an ongoing conversation about Australian content on Wikipedia and conversation about supporting requirements to make that happen efficiently and successfully by all those interested. Please let any of the WMAU Melbourne Meetup committee know if you have anything you want to include, or simply write up your ideas in the following space below for discussion.
Computerbank is a not-for-profit organisation, housed in a small building at 483 Victoria Street, West Melbourne, just down from Dryburgh Street. It's only a few minutes away from the previous venue for the meetups, which were held in Errol Street, so not too much further to travel. 'Computerbank recycles donated computers and distributes them to disadvantaged individuals and country groups.' www.computerbank.org.au

- With the retirement of thousands of baby boomers over the coming years, should Wikimedia Australia develop a policy on recruitment of people who may be looking for activities to stimulate their minds in their future years?[1] [2]Cuddy Wifter (talk) 02:13, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
