Talk:Suicide by jumping from height
Should this article about a particular method of suicide continue to include (i.e. keep) a list of specifically-named notable people who have died by this particular method? Does such a list have substantial value to explain or illustrate the topic of this article? Or should the existing list be removed (i.e. remove) with the consensus that it not be replaced without a new future consensus to do so?
The list in question is, as of this writing, the list beginning with "Prominent examples of autodefenestration include..." followed by a list of linked names. What this RFC is not: This is not on the question of whether such a list should not be included (a) due to concerns about either sensitivity for the surviving friends and relatives of people on the list, (b) due to concerns about whether such a list publicizes suicide in a way that might empower or encourage living individuals to kill themselves by this method of suicide or in general, or (c) similar concerns. This RFC is also not about the sentence beginning "The highest documented suicide jump..." What this RFC is: This is only about whether the list benefits this article under ordinary Wikipedia principles for inclusions of lists of things in articles. Please weigh in by beginning with Keep or Remove or Other meaning, respectively, Keep the existing list in the article, Remove the existing list from the article and do not replace it without a new future consensus to do so, or Other and explain. Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Music
A recently closed RfC here at WikiProject Music established consensus that navboxes of musician articles should not include discographical entries (albums, songs) that do not have their own articles, as these are not navigable links and so are outside the functional purview of the navbox. It was pointed out in this discussion that many band/ensemble navboxes also include names of bandmembers, even when those bandmembers are not linked to their own independent articles, and WP:EXISTING currently has a single exception for bandmembers. (I was unable to find any discussion on the insertion of this guideline, only this discussion challenging it in 2012.) Should unlinked or redirect bandmembers be included in navboxes (keeping WP:EXISTING as is), or should the consensus on discographical materials be extended to cover bandmembers as well, and WP:EXISTING be updated? How should the subject's nationality be described in the lead and short description?
It will be nice to have a solid consensus derived from an RFC on this point, as it has been a frequent topic of disagreement. I've taken the three most recent wordings, and as the second and third options are still in favor of including French nationality I've labeled them B1 and B2. I just happened to notice four pins on his uniform in the image. In the Star Trek universe, this implies the rank of captian, which he only temporarily is in a few episodes. Should this be changed to an image with only three pins? interstatefive (talk) - just another roadgeek 20:58, 2 June 2022 (UTC) |
Here to discuss the removal of gothic metal and gothic metal bands by DarknessGoth777. The template is for gothic subculture. The section is "Associated music". Gothic metal is associated with gothic subculture. I'm not saying it is or is not a gothic rock subgenre or have any intent on removing gothic rock. I'm saying gothic metal has an associated connection to gothic subculture, even if it may be less so than gothic rock. So my question to the rfc, is this alright to add or not? The article states: ″The psychological community has not accepted parental alienation as a diagnosable mental condition″ but the linked source says in its conclusions: ″There is almost no dispute among mental health professionals who work with children of divorced parents that PA occurs in many children whose parents engage in persistent, intense conflict.″ ″The inclusion of PA in the next editions of DSM and ICD will facilitate research regarding this mental condition, will strengthen the awareness and understanding of clinicians for PA″. How is it possible? This looks like an abuse of the source. Twilight 15:13, 29 May 2022 (UTC) |
Looking at reliable sources, how should we describe the political position of the Italian Social Movement?

Talk:List of longest-reigning monarchs
See #14th : Elizabeth II for Jamaica section above. I've noticed the inconsistency with having Elizabeth as 2nd and 14th longest-reigning monarch(s?), and other wikipedians have. But at least one wikipedian (two ? I'm not sure what Peter O. thinks about this specific number question) disagree, the discussion can't go further. There's also the more general issue of having two separate Elizabeth entry (one for Jamaica and one for the other countries), me and others are also against it, but it seems to me that it's less important as it's a presentation issue, not an inconstistency issue. Category talk:Flag template shorthands
Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking § What generally should not be linked says that major examples of countries which most readers will be at least somewhat familiar are usually not linked, implying that some of these shorthands should use {{flagu}} unstead of {{flag}}. So I propose changing the shorthands of sovereign UN member states (except microstates) to use the unlinked flag template while those of dependent territories and other non-sovereign entities (perhaps except the United Nations) remain linked as they are now. --Fernando Trebien (talk) 20:15, 3 June 2022 (UTC) |

Unsorted
User names
This page is for bringing attention to usernames which may be in violation of Wikipedia's username policy. Before listing a username here, consider if it should be more appropriately reported elsewhere, or if it needs to be reported at all:
- Report blatantly inappropriate usernames, such as usernames that are obscene or inflammatory, to Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention.
- For other cases involving vandalism, personal attacks or other urgent issues, try Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents; blatant vandalism can also be reported at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism, which is sometimes a better option.
Do NOT post here if:
- the user in question has made no recent edits.
- you wish to have the block of a user reviewed. Instead, discuss the block with the blocking administrator (see also Wikipedia:Blocking policy#Unblocking).
Before adding a name here you MUST ensure that the user in question:
- has been warned about their username (with e.g. {{subst:uw-username}}) and has been allowed time to address the concern on their user talk page.
- has disagreed with the concern, refused to change their username and/or continued to edit without replying to the warning.
- is not already blocked.
If, after having followed all the steps above, you still believe the username violates Wikipedia's username policy, you may list it here with an explanation of which part of the username policy you think has been violated. After posting, please alert the user of the discussion (with e.g. {{subst:UsernameDiscussion}}). You may also invite others who have expressed concern about the username to comment on the discussion by use of this template.
Add new requests below, using the syntax {{subst:rfcn1|username|2=reason ~~~~}}.

Reports
Please remember that this is not a vote, rather, it is a place where editors can come when they are unsure what to do with a username, and to get outside opinions (hence it's named "requests for comment"). There are no set time limits to the period of discussion.
- Place your report below this line. Please put new reports on the top of the list.
