Welcome to the Human Rights WikiProject on the English Wikipedia! We are an informal group of wikipedians dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to Human rights. Do join us and contribute to the project's development. Thousands of people read our human rights articles every day and editing one is a great way to improve Wikipedia. Why not check out our most popular articles and see if there is a subject you are interested in that you think you could contribute to? Alternatively, say hello on the talk page or add yourself to our active list of WikiProject Human rights/Participants. We would love your help! |
A monthly popular pages report for this project is available, updated by Community Tech bot.
Scope
The project's scope includes all subjects predominantly pertaining to human rights, such as:
- types of human rights in all countries or rights violations
- laws and court decisions pertaining to human rights
- individuals or organizations known for human rights advocacy
- recipients of major human rights prizes
- individuals who are subjects of major advocacy by human rights groups, such as Amnesty International-designated prisoners of conscience
- genocides, pogroms, war crimes, police brutality, censorship, and other events widely discussed in a human rights context
- participants in International Criminal Court proceedings
- works enumerating or discussing human rights
To avoid diffusing the project's focus, articles on countries, governments, political parties, and political leaders are generally excluded unless they meet one of the above categories.
Goals
- Improve the project's most-viewed pages to Good Article status or higher
- Create, expand, and improve other articles within the project's scope
- Provide a centralized location for discussion of human rights topics
- Tag and classify human rights related articles by status and importance

- Can we please get to the bottom of Dorothy Dandridge's involvement in the U.S. Civil Rights Era? A rumor has been circulating that she dipped her toe in the pool at the Hotel Last Frontier in Vegas after she performed there for two weeks, but the veracity of this claim is hard to pin down, especially with Snopes saying it may or may not be true. Perhaps you have some resources to bring to bear on the matter. -- ke4roh (talk) 00:18, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
Seeking help with Lever Brothers, a company that used forced labour extensively in the Belgian Congo. I want to expand it but another editor who has threatened to either block me or have be blocked keeps deleting large passages seemingly at random.
- Can someone help with review of draft article about Omar Alshogre, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Omar_Alshogre), survivor and advocate for justice for prisoners in Syria? There is a similar page in French Wikipedia but nothing yet in English where it would be more helpful. Probonostockholm (talk) 11:37, 10 March 2020 (UTC)
- can someone make an independent article about the mass human rights abuse in Turkey against Kurds? The Kurdish-Turkish conflict article had enough material as well as the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has an extensive 25 page report about them (linked hereafter) [1]. - Kevo327 (talk) 23:44, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
