Flavan-3-ols have been investigated in a large (n=20,000 subjects, 3.5 yr) clinical trial (Women's Health Initiative#COcoa Supplement and Multivitamin Outcomes Study (COSMOS) and shown to have a beneficial effect on cardiovascular-disease risk. This is a single intervention study - but the largest ever undertaken in this field. The results of the study support the conclusions from previous systematic reviews on a much larger scale. Is mentioning this study (with a link to Women's Health Initiative#COcoa Supplement and Multivitamin Outcomes Study (COSMOS)) appropriate according to WP:MEDPRI?
The relevant section in my opinion is: Determining weight of studies requires reliable secondary sources (not press releases or newspaper articles based on such sources). If conclusions are worth mentioning (such as large randomized clinical trials with surprising results), they should be described appropriately as from a single study. |
I have added the following section to this entry which @Zefr has reverted without discussion. As the inclusion of the COSMOS-Study was subject to more discussion, I put it in a separate RFC. Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Music
A recently closed RfC here at WikiProject Music established consensus that navboxes of musician articles should not include discographical entries (albums, songs) that do not have their own articles, as these are not navigable links and so are outside the functional purview of the navbox. It was pointed out in this discussion that many band/ensemble navboxes also include names of bandmembers, even when those bandmembers are not linked to their own independent articles, and WP:EXISTING currently has a single exception for bandmembers. (I was unable to find any discussion on the insertion of this guideline, only this discussion challenging it in 2012.) Should unlinked or redirect bandmembers be included in navboxes (keeping WP:EXISTING as is), or should the consensus on discographical materials be extended to cover bandmembers as well, and WP:EXISTING be updated? This has been discussed at WT:Comics many times (one, two three, four, five), and I'm putting this here to get more/outside perspectives.
Over the last three decades, there have been many superhero films. During development, many characters are considered for inclusion, but not used. Some planned films die in Development hell. Some characters are alluded to in the film, but not actually present. Examples for your consideration include a director tweeting that a character was considered, an obvious Easter Egg, unfilmed scripts, and visual references to the character. With every new film, there is a wave a editors wanting to add these non-appearances to character articles. There is a large volume of websites catering to fans, and reasonably-acceptable sources can usually be located to support any Easter Egg. The best-sourced material of this kind is often included in franchise articles like Spider-Man in film, but those pages do not always exist.

When translating this article to no-wiki, and establishing the first biography articles there, I find some information that I can not fit into the en-wiki results. This article says that 4×110 yds relay was won by UK, with France second. GBR athletics also says this. But, reading about Camille Sabie, I find two sources stating that USA came second in a '440 yard relay'[1][2]. Is there error in GBR Athletics' results page? The relays results in GBR Athletics are a bit odd, as France is written one time, covering two years. Also, this article states that two outside games competitions were held; 100-m sprint, and the 4×100 m relay. I assume that the 4x100 m here equals 4x110y in the results in the en-wiki article. So, no one takes care about the portal anymore, since February 2021 the login did not work anymore, and since April 2022 the page is even offline. The service already lost its popularity in the years before, and there is no media coverage anymore. The result is, that there is no undisputed source which we could use for citation. I did add the information that the service is not functional anymore and used the Wayback Machine and some Uptime-Portal for citation, but this was considered as WP:OR. Otherwise the initiation was changed from "is" to "was" but without citation. So the question here is: Is it really WP:OR, and if yes, will we find another way to get more specific about the current situation of the project, or won't we be able to do any updates unless some media will report about this? - Flexman (talk) 14:10, 2 May 2022 (UTC) |

In the attempt to create an RFC for the ultratouchy subject which is "Zionism as settler colonialism", several of the active editors attempted to vote to kill the RFC before it could go active or be noticed on (currently) mistaken procedural grounds. WP:RFC currently recommends using short clear questions and avoiding open ended requests but there's nothing about either being mandatory and the ending policies assume that conversation be allowed to procede until there's consensus that the issues raised have been adequately addressed. The posters above on the other hand truly believed that it was fine to shut off requests for discussion that weren't narrowly tailored to individual questions. (This would seem to require multiple RFCs for a single page when the issues to be addressed, as here, are wide ranging.)
To my mind, it's clear that more involvement is always helpful, especially on ultrasensitive subjects. I know more recent wikipedians are more generally in favor of tighter gatekeeping, but do the admins really want cliques of local editors shutting out open requests for outside voices? If some specific person is being unhelpful or disruptive, that can be pointed out separately. On the otherhand, WP:OWNERSHIP used to be viewed as a bad thing, which RFC was a tool to help address without brigading or building up teams of allies (which just repeats the same problem at a higher level). — LlywelynII 16:09, 11 May 2022 (UTC) |
Consensus is Wikipedia's friend. It is the backbone of discussion and the statute which decides all that is done here. However, sometimes I feel it fails to accurately represent the problem at hand. There are certain situations in which stalemates should be enough to continue with the implementation of guidelines/policies (see WP:LEADCITE).
WP: STALEMATE would address two issues: the relatively minor issue of what to do when stalemate happens, and the controversial issue of what to do when consensus isn't needed to proceed (WP:MINORCONSENT?) I think there is a need for a policy such as this, as sometimes stalemate proves that a problem is important enough to be addressed. This would apply only to specific policies and guidelines, and consensus would take precedent in most cases. What do yall think? Is it serious enough to pursue? 2ple (talk) 00:45, 11 May 2022 (UTC) |
Talk:Zionism as settler colonialism
We need a whole bunch more eyes on this article, its framing, and its intervention in other Wikipedia articles on this topic if any of y'all have better blood pressure medicine or deeper knowledge of this topic than I do. It may be fine that the current lede of settler colonialism involves accusations of genocide or that this title is completely differently formatted for every other section link coming off of settler colonialism. I really don't know and I do appreciate that the current editors on this new page have been formatting well and finding sources to build their page. An intro "graph" of exactly 4 data points seems like an excellent example of how lazy and partisan "sources" on this topic can be, however, and I'd be much more comfortable with wider community involvement from both sides plus plenty of neutrals. — LlywelynII 23:15, 10 May 2022 (UTC) |
Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Lead section
Should the manual of style require citations in the lead for contested statements about BLPs? The current text is generally considered to contradict itself on this point; see discussions here for details and general implications about what this would mean for the text. --Aquillion (talk) 04:43, 8 May 2022 (UTC) |

The problem is that Hospitality Club does not really work anymore. But there hasn't been any official statment, because the creator(s) of the project just abandoned it.

Unsorted
User names
This page is for bringing attention to usernames which may be in violation of Wikipedia's username policy. Before listing a username here, consider if it should be more appropriately reported elsewhere, or if it needs to be reported at all:
- Report blatantly inappropriate usernames, such as usernames that are obscene or inflammatory, to Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention.
- For other cases involving vandalism, personal attacks or other urgent issues, try Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents; blatant vandalism can also be reported at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism, which is sometimes a better option.
Do NOT post here if:
- the user in question has made no recent edits.
- you wish to have the block of a user reviewed. Instead, discuss the block with the blocking administrator (see also Wikipedia:Blocking policy#Unblocking).
Before adding a name here you MUST ensure that the user in question:
- has been warned about their username (with e.g. {{subst:uw-username}}) and has been allowed time to address the concern on their user talk page.
- has disagreed with the concern, refused to change their username and/or continued to edit without replying to the warning.
- is not already blocked.
If, after having followed all the steps above, you still believe the username violates Wikipedia's username policy, you may list it here with an explanation of which part of the username policy you think has been violated. After posting, please alert the user of the discussion (with e.g. {{subst:UsernameDiscussion}}). You may also invite others who have expressed concern about the username to comment on the discussion by use of this template.
Add new requests below, using the syntax {{subst:rfcn1|username|2=reason ~~~~}}.

Reports
Please remember that this is not a vote, rather, it is a place where editors can come when they are unsure what to do with a username, and to get outside opinions (hence it's named "requests for comment"). There are no set time limits to the period of discussion.
- Place your report below this line. Please put new reports on the top of the list.
