There should be an article about Jerry Goldsmith's score, as I've seen that one rather short album was released (Arnold's face is blueish) and later a special edition (Arnold's face is now reddish) of I think one hour long, or perhaps two. Importance? Goldsmith "Total Recall" one of his greatest scores, and his personal favorite. This would then make place for the following:
Total Recall - Most Expensive Film
Acoording to the page on Arnold Schwarzenegger, Total Recall, at that time, was the most expensive film in the world.
But it doesn't say anything about that here, is it true or not? And if it is, I think it should be on this page!
No way. Even if it was, it was soon overshadowed by Hook, then Waterworld and subsequently, Titanic. Pictureuploader
Themes section
I edited some of the stuff in the Themes section. Besides the information relating to how Total Recall relates to other sci-fi films, the only issue discussed in this section is whether or not Quaid's adventure is real or not. I figured it could have it's own title in bold, and storypoints which indicate both sides of the argument could be listed. The section is not cohesive at the moment, but the main pro/con points are in there now.
Budget
Can someone please clarify the budget figures please? In the infobox we have a range of $48–90 million, while the sourced range in the article states $48–80 million. One of these figures must be wrong.
Also, I can't access the book sources so can someone who does have access to these sources clarify the context of the highest figure. The Vest source states this:
"...Cinefantastique magazine, reports that Carolco Pictures, the production company that financed the film, estimated the budget to range between $50 and $60 million."
The $48 million figure would seem to be more or less in line with that, but the $80/90 million figure is way over that figure. Indeed, if it had cost that much it would have made Total Recall the most expensive film ever. Can we clarify the actual wording for the higher figures. For example, does it explicitly state the budget was $80/90 million, or does it just put the "costs" in this range (which could feasibly include marketing. It's just that the upper-bound figure seems very high to me for that period. Betty Logan (talk) 22:21, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This and this says it was one of the most expensive films ever made at the time, though Terminator 2 beats it out the next year, so that part is accurate.
DAvid Hughes in Tales from Development Hell says "Weinstein dismissed suggestions that a sequel to the $80 million Total Recall would be expensive by definition".
Future Imperfect: Philip K. Dick at the Movies says "The Internet Movie Database estimates Total Recall's budget as $65 million". It does mention a Cinefantastique magazine here but I don't have the book I'm just reading the Google Preview so I don't know an issue or anything.
It also says that "Grossing more than $260 million in worldwide ticket sales, Total Recall quadrupled it's $60-65 million budget. I can't give you an exact figure but I know Carolco spent a LOT on films because they made it back internationally and they were kind of pioneers in that. Hence spending 102 million on Terminator 2.
