Password issue
I normally login as "Errantius", with a Safari password on my Mac keychain. When I added WP to Lastpass, the password was no longer recognised by WP - whether Lastpass was on or off, and also after WP had been removed from Lastpass.
I don't think I gave "Errantius" an email address. Can the password please be reactivated? (It is not the same as that for "rofish".) I'm quite well known as "Errantius" (and formerly as "Wikiain") and would rather not have to bother people by switching again to another account. Thanks Rofish (talk) 00:20, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- Rofish: Just noting that I've moved your question to the proper place. Isabelle 🔔 00:27, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Rofish: If you don't recall the password, and don't have email set up on that account, nothing can be done. The password cannot be recovered. RudolfRed (talk) 00:57, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- User:Errantius has not specified an email address. PrimeHunter (talk) 02:11, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you all very much. However, the password is not forgotten. I have a password in Keychain which was working perfectly well: it just is no longer recognised. It is the same for Wikipedia and for Wikimedia, and is what I had put into Lastpass for Wikipedia. Rofish (talk) 03:04, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Rofish: Passwords don't expire or stop being recognised. I don't know Keychain or Lastpass but try another browser or device without password software which may interfere with your login. Passwords are case sensitive. PrimeHunter (talk) 04:38, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

I have one more request. I have opened a new account, "Errantios" (now logging in as such) - which this time does have an email address! The name is as similar as possible to "Errantius", since I intend to use it in the same areas of interest and want it to be familiar to others.
I'd be extremely grateful if an Administrator would be kind enough to move all of the "Errantius" page, including history and watchlist if possible, to "Errantios" (I'd then alter the content to match) and add a redirect from "Errantius" to "Errantios" (or tell me that I can do it as "Errantios"). Thank you. Errantios (talk) 10:26, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

- Please clarify which problem you see. The IP made one mistake but fixed it three minutes later. Their edits [2][3] look harmless. If you think the IP edited the article while it was protected then that's not what happened. The protection expired, the IP made edits, and a bot removed the protection template. Editing
According to Wikipedia's founding principles: Wikipedia is an online free content encyclopedia project helping to create a world in which everyone can freely share in the sum of all knowledge. The project is supported by the Wikimedia Foundation and based on a model of freely editable content. The name "Wikipedia" is a blending of the words wiki (a technology for creating collaborative websites, from the Hawaiian word wiki, meaning "quick") and encyclopedia. Wikipedia's articles provide links designed to guide the user to related pages with additional information. I, as one of the users, found an error. Checked it several times in reliable sources. Corrected, since Wikipedia is a free field where knowledge is shared. But, as it turned out, true and verified information is not needed. I returned the truth several times again, but they threatened to block me for the truth! In the end, what is the priority for the principles of Wikipedia truth or politically motivated editors? I need to deal with this situation. When Wikipedia was created, I believed in it and donated money to its existence when it was hanging by a thread. Now that Wikipedia has grown and also pays editors, although we did all this for free, because we believed in the need for such a project, Wikipedia spits on the truth! "Wikipedia is written collaboratively by largely anonymous volunteers. Anyone with Internet access can write and make changes to Wikipedia articles, except in limited cases where editing is restricted to prevent further disruption or vandalism." Anyone can edit! except in limited cases where editing is restricted to prevent further disruption or vandalism." - Why was this added? In order not to write all sorts of nonsense and lies! But they use this to leave a lie and slander a real person!
So I ask you to consider and correct the injustice against Mr. Agalarov (link is attached) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aras_Agalarov. He is not on the sanctions list. This can be verified with the only reliable source: the US Department of the Treasury. They have a link https://sanctionssearch.ofac.treas.gov/ This Sanctions List Search application ("Sanctions List Search") is designed to facilitate the use of the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons list ("SDN List") and other sanctions lists administered by OFAC, including the Foreign Sanctions Evaders List, the Sectoral Sanctions Identifications List, the List of Foreign Financial Institutions Subject to Correspondent Account or Payable-Through Account Sanctions, the Non-SDN Palestinian Legislative Council List, the Non-SDN Menu-Based Sanctions List, and the Non-SDN Communist Chinese Military Companies List. Given the number of lists that now reside in the Sanctions List Search tool, it is strongly recommended that users pay close attention to the program codes associated with each returned record. These program codes indicate how a true hit on a returned value should be treated. The Sanctions List Search tool uses approximate string matching to identify possible matches between word or character strings as entered into Sanctions List Search, and any name or name component as it appears on the SDN List and/or the various other sanctions lists. To aid users of the tool, Sanctions List Search contains a feature entitled "Minimum Name Score" that functions on a sliding scale, allowing for a user to set a threshold (i.e., a fuzziness rating) for the closeness of any potential match returned as a result of a user's search. This feature enables Sanctions List Search to detect certain misspellings or other incorrectly entered text, and will return near, or proximate, matches, based on the confidence rating set by the user via the slider-bar. OFAC does not provide recommendations with regard to the appropriateness of any specific confidence rating. Sanctions List Search is one tool offered to assist users in utilizing the SDN List and/or the various other sanctions lists; use of Sanctions List Search is not a substitute for undertaking appropriate due diligence. The use of Sanctions List Search does not limit any criminal or civil liability for any act undertaken as a result of, or in reliance on, such use. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.30.195.150 (talk) 06:43, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
- I have removed it [4] with a better edit summary explaining why the source given in the article (which does name him) doesn't support the claim. Bots editing an already approved page
I can see what must be bots constantly editing a page within minutes of me editing the text (my. text is approved by wikipedia). - Hello IP! What page are you talking about? You haven't made any other edits besides this one (Excluding one from 2013). ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 11:49, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
- A bot will usually provide an edit summary. That should give you an idea of why it took the action. (You also say "my. text is approved by wikipedia". What do you mean by that?) Feline Hymnic (talk) 13:21, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
- The solution almost certainly lies in you engaging with the human editors who are probably reverting your edits because they don't think they are constructive. If you look at the history of the article in question you will see who is reverting you, and any edit summaries they have left, which will probably explain why they have reverted. Please read WP:BRD for what is going on and how to proceed. Like other repliers, I don't know what you mean by "my text is approved by wikipedia": there is no such concept as far as I am aware. Telling us which article you are talking about will enable somebody here to look at the issue. Please also note that repeatedly applying an edit without engaging with the editors who revert is called edit warring, and is regarded as disruptive. --ColinFine (talk) 14:09, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

Can CSD templates for articles be applied to drafts as well?
Multiple times in the past I have seen draft articles where users create pages about themselves - usually just a single line with their name, age, and location. I have repeatedly put CSD A7 on pages such as these, and they have been deleted. I recently did the same thing as always, but had my edit reverted, with the reverter saying A7 is for articles only
. Looking at WP:CSD, this does appear to be generally true, with nothing saying that this could be used on drafts. What should be done about this? Should what is said on the page be changed, or is there something else that should be done to remove autobiography drafts. Thanks, ― Levi_OPTalk 19:11, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Levi OP: The A7 criteria is under the "articles" category, which reads
These criteria apply only to pages in the article (main) namespace. They do not apply to redirects.
. The concept of notability does not apply to drafts, A7 is not a valid speedy deletion criteria for pages in the draft namespace, and any A7 tags you placed there should have been declined. It is also worth noting that there is no ban whatsoever on writing your own autobiography, it is only strongly discouraged, and that writing such pages in draft space is the best way to go about creating them. In my opinion speedy deletion patrolling in draft space generally does more harm than good, draft space is self cleaning via G13, and sending a newbies first edits for deletion is rather WP:BITEY, even if they are utter rubbish. Unless a page is something like an attack page, a copyvio or would meet one of the criteria for oversight it's probably best to leave them alone. 192.76.8.73 (talk) 19:50, 31 January 2022 (UTC) - @Levi OP: In response to your section title question, only some CSD templates can apply to drafts (for example, CSD G5 can apply to a draft if the user who created it is blocked as a sock and there haven't been any substantial contributions by other users). However per what the IP said above, A7 doesn't apply to drafts because notability, while it does still technically apply to drafts in regards that if the topic isn't notable the draft won't be accepted, does not apply to the ability for the draft to exist. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 19:58, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, I should have phrased that better. What I meant was that the concept of notability does not apply when determining if a draft should be deleted. If you come across a "John doe is a Minecraft youtuber" type page in draft space the best thing to do is leave it alone, it's not a public part of the encyclopaedia, there aren't any speedy deletion criteria that would apply, an MFD discussion would just be a waste of time and the page is completely harmless. The general "G" type criteria apply everywhere, but none of them really apply to the tagged page. 192.76.8.73 (talk) 20:04, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
- The thing is, these accounts usually are created, make a draft page about themselves with no claim of notability, and then never edit again. If I can't remove them immediately, I think I'll just start a page of these so that I can wait the 6 months and remove them as inactive drafts. ― Levi_OPTalk 13:33, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

Georgian help needed
I would like to write a Wikipedia article about chashushuli, a tasty Georgian dish I have eaten recently. However, I am having trouble finding any material or references about it. Neither the English or the Finnish Wikipedia has an article about it, and all Google turns up about it are recipes. I have looked at the Georgian Wikipedia's article about Georgian cuisine, but the problem is that not only do I not understand Georgian, I can't even read the alphabet. If there is even some article at the Georgian Wikipedia where the dish is mentioned I could machine-translate it to English and use that as basis for writing my own English article. Could someone point me in the right direction? JIP | Talk 03:33, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- @JIP: You might try posting on the talk page of Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (country). As a long shot, you might try asking Labrang, since that user's page indicates a strong interest in Georgia. I found the user by looking at contributions to the Georgia (country) article. -Arch dude (talk) 05:27, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, JIP. I tried searching for ჩაშუშული and ჭაშუშული (which are the most plausible transcriptions of chashushuli) in ka-wiki, but neither found anything. There's nothing with that name in ka:კატეგორია:ქართული სამზარეულო which is the Georgian counterpart to category:Cuisine of Georgia (country). The nearest is ka:ჩაქაფული which is Chakapuli. There are some subcategories I haven't looked into. --ColinFine (talk) 13:51, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

IP making lots of edits to page
Hello! I came across the article Pixel art while looking through recent changes and it appears 1 IP address has been making many changes to the article. I can't tell if the edits are constructive or not because of the sheer amount of edits the IP has made which is making it hard for me to identify a good revision. Could someone help me out on this? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:46, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Blaze Wolf: I've left the IP a warning at their talk page asking they use the preview button in the future. Aside from that, there is not best way to check for good or bad edits in situations like this besides comparing how the article was before they begun working on it and how it is now, and verifying what was changed. From a quick glance, it's mostly the software list being refactored. It's for editors to choose whether that refactoring is constructive or disruptive to the article, and discuss in the talk page if needed. Isabelle 🔔 16:00, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Isabelle Belato: Alright thank you! Situations like this always bother me because it makes determining the good edits harder because so many of the recent edits have been made by a single user, sometimes with other users intermixed making it even harder. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:02, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Blaze Wolf:: I know nothing about the topic either but the edits appear constructive. The Preview suggestion is good because some of the edits are corrections that could be avoided with visual proofing. Then again, is the IP going to check his/her Talk page? Situations like this always bother me because it makes determining the good edits harder because so many of the recent edits have been made by a single user, sometimes with other users intermixed making it even harder. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:02, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
How to edit a already created page using the sandbox feature and not directly editing.
I would like to edit the Jacobi medical center page but i am inexperienced and would instead like to edit it under sandbox before actually editing it. Megabits13 (talk) 15:50, 1 February 2022 (UTC)Megabits13
- Megabits13 If you would like, you may simply propose what you wish to do on the article talk page. If you would like to do it yourself, you can copy and paste the text into your sandbox and then practice editing it. If you make a mistake in editing the actual article, do not feel bad; it can be easily reversed. 331dot (talk) 16:05, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Megabits13. If you want to test your edits to an article, you can either directly edit it and use the preview button to see how it looks before saving or, if you plan on working on it for a longer period of time, you can always copy and paste the content to a personal sandbox (usually at Special:Mypage/sandbox), where you can edit freely. After you are done with your sandbox, apply those changes to the article at main space, taking care not to undo any new edits that might've been made to it in the meantime. Article George Sargent (businessman) has been distroyed
According to George Sargent George Sargent (businessman) (1859–1921) is an Australian businessman, obviously ist is this person. But the article has been umformulatet beginning with this edit, now it is an radio announcer born (or active since) 2001. That should be corrected. -- Jesi (talk) 16:30, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- I've returned the article to the state it was previously in. The recent edits have been undone. --Jayron32 16:35, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

- Thank you for this Azeemdaar, but you should be aware that Wikipedia is not a social networking site or other means of promoting yourself. You may use your user page for giving basic personal information about yourself, but in the main article space, people should not post their own personal information. --Jayron32 16:33, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Azeemdaar: Also, you should not hijack the existing article about the cricketer Azeem Dar by replacing it with information about you. GoingBatty (talk) 16:45, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

Creating a page
Hello! I was wondering how to make a Wikipedia page. If you could redirect me to where I can create a Wikipedia page that would be great. Thank you! Have a good day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by UsernameUnnamed (talk • contribs) 17:28, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, UsernameUnnamed. Please read Your first article. It is quite challenging for a new editor to create an acceptable article, so be careful to follow the policies and guidelines. Cullen328 (talk) 17:37, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

Restoration
I was creating a page, and it self reloaded, causing my edits to be lost. Is there anyway to restore this? Hcoder3104 (talk) 17:50, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Hcoder3104: Hi there! Unless you can use the back arrow in your browser to get back to it, then it's lost for good. I suggest making small incremental changes in the future. GoingBatty (talk) 19:40, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Hcoder3104: Something that I do is to frequently copy the whole text, you can then either paste it somewhere else (like a notepad file) or, if you have the windows clipboard function on, it gets automatically saved. Isabelle 🔔 22:09, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
Unsolicited welcome for joining Malay Wikipedia
This morning I got an email that pointed me to a note on my talk page that said, "Thanks for joining Malay Wikipedia". While I have a personal interest in Malaysia, I do not recall explicitly joining anything other than en.wikipedia.org. I don't even know if there's really a difference between Wikipedia sites, in terms of identity and access management. I am suspicious, however, to have randomly received this message. Any idea of what might be going on? Jyg (talk) 18:12, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Jyg: My guess is that you had simply visited the main page of Malay Wikipedia and since you were logged in it gave you a welcome message since it was the first time you had visited Malay Wikipedia. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:13, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Jyg: Your login information will work on any Wikimedia Foundation project; other language versions of Wikipedia, Wikitionary, and so on. As Blaze Wolf correctly notes, any brief contact with another project might trigger such a message. It's normal. 331dot (talk) 18:17, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Jyg: Special:CentralAuth/Jyg shows your Malay Wikipedia account was created 27 May 2021, probably because you viewed a page while logged in. Today a bot posted a welcome message to your talk page and thousands of others even though you have no edits there (meta:Welcoming policy is a proposal by me to disallow that). This triggers an email notification if it's enabled at your Malay preferences. PrimeHunter (talk) 18:33, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

A Night at Switch n' Play director
I have been asked to prove I am the director of a film in order to request changes to the wikipedia page. How do I prove who I am?
Crs363 (talk) 19:20, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- Crs363 Your edit history has no edits aside from this one, and I don't see any such questions of anyone at Talk:A Night at Switch n' Play; where were you asked this? 331dot (talk) 19:26, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- If you claim to be a specific notable person, you can request verification of your identity through our Volunteer Response Team. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:29, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- They have raised a concern that the descriptions that were used in A Night at Switch n' Play were possibly offensive, or incorrect summations of the performers' gender identities. As of now, I've removed the descriptions from cast members as an interim solution. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:30, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
I am only notable in that I directed the film. This is the talk page where I was asked. User talk:ScottishFinnishRadish#A Night at Switch' n Play Here is the specific quote "you could make an account and reach out to WP:OTRS to prove, at least, that you're the director, at which point it's possible we can take you at your word that there we're describing the individuals offensively." Format Company Pages
I noticed some company pages have a "controversies" section while others don't. The same section is sometimes called "litigation" or "lawsuits". Would it be acceptable to rename those sections to "controversies" or "controversies and criticism"? People would then be able to add cases not involving litigation on every page, avoiding confusion and discrimination. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:A03F:8B17:1B00:A9CC:145E:BE9C:4C61 (talk) 20:58, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, IP user. The consensus, I believe is not have a "controversies" section in any article, whether it is about a company or anything else. See WP:Controversy sections. --ColinFine (talk) 22:01, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- The addition of routine lawsuits is often a tell of a competitor trying to make a rival look bad. WP:UNDUE addresses this. I've also seen disgruntled customers angry after a bad customer service experience, and try to add negative info about the event as a "controversy". A single incident does not a pattern make, so keep an eye out for those types of edits also. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 00:45, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
IP WhoIs location changed?
Hello! I recently came across an IP who had the shared IP edu template saying the IP is from the University of Nebraska (which I had previously changed to be UNL only to realize that's most likely incorrect, but it was originally non-specific) which was added by a user who has since passed away. I took a look at the WhoIs and it appears to have changed to be a different location (didn't necessarily say it was school district but looking at another IP from a school in Nebraska the provider appears to be a school internet provider), however this is the first time I've seen an IP being changed to a different location. Is this something that can happen or would it most likely just be a mistake from the now-deceased user who added the template? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 21:05, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Blaze Wolf: It can happen. Blocks of IP addresses can get reassigned to different companies or ISPs. Also, Geolocation is an imperfect art. See Internet_geolocation#Errors. An extreme example is 600 million IP addresses that were "relocated" to a farm in Kansas. RudolfRed (talk) 23:16, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

Acceptance of photo upload
Could anyone please help troubleshoot? The owner of the photo is trying to upload a freely licensed photo. Hello I have been trying to upload the image onto Wikipedia with no success, this is the message I get: Something went wrong We could not determine whether this file is suitable for Wikimedia Commons. Please only upload photos that you took yourself with your camera, or see what else is acceptable. See the guide to make sure the file is acceptable and learn how to upload it on Wikimedia Commons.
I log in and find the system to upload, check the box that says it is my own work, then push Save. The next panel asks for file name, description etc, then I push save and I get that message. I see the button for publish but it is not active, so nothing happens. So what should I do? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Postmodern Aesthetics (talk • contribs) 03:09, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

How can I publicize a RfC more widely?
I posted a RfC a week ago. Only 2-3 editors have responded. I would really like to put this to rest because it involves changes that have been made to 25+ additional articles. Only one of these is "high profile", and that's where the RfC is posted, but I'm concerned the material from that article is being "echoed" (if that's the term) by other websites. Meanwhile, I did post requests on two extra project talk pages. Is there more I can do? Thanks. Allreet (talk) 05:37, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
