Torre dei Moro article
this time I try to be polite how do you say that there is copyright infringement if you rework a sentence in another language. this time I try to be polite how do you say that there is copyright infringement if you rework a sentence in another language. We are crazy, on the images I also give you reason, not I have a thorough knowledge of the licenses and their attributions. Okay I don't upload anything to wikimedia anymore. Okay, do you want to have a personal war? I do not think so. Among other things, I did not even want to do this article but tried to be scrupulous, objective and adherent to the information of the media. You don't like it, you can also propose to cancel it, maybe such a thing had never happened, a fire and thank goodness without victims. you want to do it again, write it better, do it, every contribution is welcome. but to claim that copyright is infringed by translating from another language is truly ridiculous. But how do you want to write this article in ancient Egyptian? --Peter39c (talk) 23:40, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
Or maybe you want it to disappear from English wikipedia or wikipedia, I don't want to disappoint you but I've been writing on wikipedia for almost 15 years. --Peter39c (talk) 23:47, 1 September 2021 (UTC) So you want to destroy my article and you want to hold the information hostage with that horrible copyright infringement template. --Peter39c (talk) 23:47, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Peter39c: Translating copyrighted works is considered a derivative work, and so your translation is a copyright infringement on the various news sites which you used to do the translation. See WP:DERIVATIVE where it provides the example: "The French translation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is a derivative of the English novel. Translator Jean-François Ménard required the permission of J. K. Rowling's agent, Christopher Little Literary Agency, to prepare, publish and distribute it."

Torre dei Moro fire article is gone, but I don't re-write it. --Peter39c (talk) 20:47, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
2021 Pantelleria tornado I have not written the article, I have included it in the list.[1] I don't even think about writing the article about the fire in Turin. I pretend that the misfortunes in Italy do not exist so there are no copyright problems Bye! --Peter39c (talk) 20:47, 10 September 2021 (UTC)

Does this file qualifies to replace non-free logo
I had created an svg logo [1] to replace non-free logo File:MasterChef India - Telugu Logo.jpg. One of the contributer doesn't agree with it. Before going further I want to know whether this svg logo has the acceptance to replace the non-free logo? Anoop (talk) 06:13, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Anoopspeaks: Your work is a copy of the logo with a different image format, so the licensing would come down to whether the logo meets the threshold of originality. I suggest you ask at Media Copyright Questions. -- Whpq (talk) 20:34, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
Curious about revert
Hi there. I'm curious about this revert. You say it's because of WP:ELYES, but that doesn't entirely explain it. The WP:CCSG, the Canadian Communities Wikiproject structure guidelines are for only a link to the official town link. However you removed the link to the official town link which to be honest seems a bit odd. As for the link being included because of WP:ELYES, that doesn't apply here. Remember ELYES is only that it is allowed under regular circumstances, not that it must be included. The image could easily be integrated into the article if one wished, it's clearly far out of copyright so a copy could be uploaded and incorporated quite easily. I can understand wanting to keep the image in the article in some manner, but to remove the official site of the down doesn't seem right. I think it would be best that the town link is included, as per the wikiproject guidelines, and the image uploaded into Wikipedia and incorporated into the article. Canterbury Tail talk 12:50, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Canterbury Tail: With respect to the Town of Oakville site, I understand that it is technically the official site, but removed it as it does not really provide much in the way of information about Palermo. You'll find some planning documents from the Town of Oakville about this area and that's it. It really feels like the external link is there just for the sake of a guideline versus being a useful adjunct to the article. Having said that, I don't have a strong objection to it and if you feel it really should be there, then feel free to add it.
- With respect to the image, if it can be determined that it is PD, then I am all for integrating it into the article. It surely would be better that way. I used an external link because the data page provided no guidance on copyright. I can certainly try digging a bit more into the copyright status. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 15:41, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
Turin fire in Piazza Carlo Felice
I can write this other article or someone else will take care of it. Or we put another nice copyright infringement template! Write it yourself if you want. Now I can not even update the old fire of the Moro tower ... however sometimes it is better not to write, not to remember and forget without any testimony like this umpteenth bad fire. Goodbye! --Peter39c (talk) 17:43, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Peter39c: Nobody is stopping you from writing an article on any of the fires, if you write it in your own words. As has already been explained to you, translating copyrighted works is not acceptable as Wikipedia only accepts freely licensed content. -- Whpq (talk) 20:37, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
Edit summary at Relative Justice
Please don't take my edit summary at Relative Justice the wrong way. It was an honest suggestion. Not saying my sources were great, but there are numerous sources on Google (non-primary) basically stating to the same thing, so maybe you could find one that you are satisfied with since you are dissatisfied with mine. I provided a third one in the article in response your criticism that it's not a satisfactory source. Hopefully, the third one does the job. Otherwise, I think you would be a great Internet source detector and could enhance that article. :) Happy editing. JudgeJudyCourthouse25 (talk) 15:08, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
New Page Patrol newsletter September 2021
Hello Whpq,
Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.
Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here.
At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.
There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.
If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.
Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. Indeed, if you are interested in coordinating NPR, it does not involve much time and the tasks are described here.
To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here. Sent to 827 users. 04:33, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
A question Mr Whpq
Here is something I asked on your commons talk page, but I didn't get a reply 👇👇
Hi Mr Whpq, I hope you're doing fine today. Please I want to ask, if I should download a file I posted on another space e.g Google map and post that same file here on commons, am I still the copy right owner of that image? Remember I was the one that posted that same image in that space and maybe for some reasons, I no longer have that same image on my phone, and I decided to download from maps or the website I posted it so as to post the same image here for a purpose, hope I'm not doing anything wrong by posting that image and by putting my name as the original author? And if I can post that image will I post it as my personal stuff or post it as fair use? Please my questions may not be straight forward, but please try and answer them for me, I'm expecting a response from you soon. Thanks. --Idoghor Melody (talk) 11:48, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
Hi Mr John, please you can also help clarify me regarding the above subject.Idoghor Melody (talk) 11:50, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
