Copyright violations on Chartered Institutes for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity
Thank you for flagging the copyright violation. I agree with the removal. However, there was other content that was removed that did not come from the website you flagged. This included infobox additions, a new section, and other text in the introduction not related to the vision/mission paragraphs.
I have reintroduced these elements onto the page. I will leave mission/vision absent.
COI on my profile. Happy to add elsewhere if needed.

- While it may not seem like the right thing to do, it is convention, when identifying a copyright issue, to do a rollback, which sometimes picks up other copyright issues and sometimes picks up inrelated,a nd non-problematic issues. You are always welcome to restore the non-copyright issue edits.

Addition reaction
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Addition_reaction you really reverted all my work when i had everything cited??? Nickpayifson (talk) 01:26, 24 May 2021 (UTC)nickpayifson
- Nickpayifson, Citing is not enough unless the material happens to be licensed correctly and even then you need to do more than simply cite it. I confess I did not double check to see if a textbook were subject to copyright but I've never seen one that isn't. Let me know if you think I missed licensing compatible with Wikipedia. S Philbrick(Talk) 01:29, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
- Nickpayifson, Nevermind I just checked. Both textbooks are subject to full copyright. You cannot simply copy them. S Philbrick(Talk) 01:30, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
- Nickpayifson, limited excerpts such as specific formulae can be copied if enclosed in quotation marks or in block quotes but that's not what's happening here. S Philbrick(Talk) 01:31, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
How in the world could anyone describe an additional reaction without being copyright? What is the correct way to do this??? I didn't discover it so I have to get it somewhere Nickpayifson (talk) 01:34, 24 May 2021 (UTC)nickpayifson I hope you don't think your some hero ..smh annyoing as all get out.
- Copyright and licensing are very serious issues. Surely someone taking a college course would have heard about "academic integrity" and how your profs feel about "plagiarism" and such? You might not care, but Wikipedia sure does. I recommend you take a few moments to read WP:CIVIL as well. Your behavior on this website is not where it needs to be if you wish to continue as an editor here. DMacks (talk) 02:47, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
Just because you got offended doesn’t mean my behavior is out of Wikipedia policy! That’s called a personal problem! But I will edit that addition page everyday until every criteria for not plagiarizing and copyrighting is fulfilled! Have a great day!

Thanks
@Sphilbrick: Hi,
Thanks for your response @ Teahouse#requesting inputs.
Since I avoid boasting any thing on my user page then users go on to see draft deletion notices on my talk page and jump to preposterous conclusions. Most of Teahouse replies seem presumptuous to me.
If WP is an encyclopedia a sizable focus support needs to be towards finding and addressing knowledge gaps, my experience has been user spirit largely runs in opposite direction, due to lack of conducive environment for content contributors.
The fact is by now I have been able to develop at least couple of good collaborative articles and couple of drafts on WP.
As such I am quite systematic enough in finding knowledge gap areas, I do frequently visit recent changes of related articles and send in collaborative writing invitations to those who are already expanding related topics.
Any ways thanks for your relatively positive response. Best wishes.

Hi, Sphilbrick. Thanks for patrolling new pages. I've declined your deletion request for Draft:Saleem Saaed Qader, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to read the new tutorial for patrollers, criteria for speedy deletion, and particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion or proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. Thanks! ToThAc (talk) 01:50, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
- ToThAc, I wasn't patrolling new pages. A copy of Ben Carson ought to be removed, and it now has, but not at the time I tagged it. S Philbrick(Talk) 10:57, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
Kyiv National Academic Theatre of Operetta - Copyright issue...
Kyiv National Academic Theatre of Operetta
Thank you for flagging the copyright violation. I agree with the removal, but if I were to add footnotes and cite the referencing site, does that cover the copyright question (I completely forgot to cite)? There was other content that was not copyrighted. This included infobox additions.
Thank you in advance for your diligence. Markontour (talk) 22:48, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
- Markontour, I'm in the middle of something, I'll try to respond in a couple hours S Philbrick(Talk) 22:49, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
- Markontour, It is not uncommon for some people to think that a copyright problem can be cured by citations, but that's not the case. In most cases, the answer is that you should provide a proper citation to the source but you should write the material in your own words. There are some exceptions, for example if the source material happens to be in the public domain or properly licensed you can use that as is but you need to identify that the material is not your own and identify the source. Another exception is that short passages can be enclosed in quote marks or as a block quote if there are legitimate reasons that the material should not be rewritten, but I don't think that applies in this case. S Philbrick(Talk) 00:52, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
User:Shdjaoalxmx
You unblocked User:Shdjaoalxmx on 27 May. Since then, every one of Shdjaoalxmx's article edits have been reverted, either for grammatically making content worse, or minor vandalism. Please review contributions and consider restoring the block. David notMD (talk) 00:06, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
- David notMD, My rationale for unblocking had absolutely nothing to do with content issues. It was entirely procedural and I'll be happy to elaborate if you want to know more. If you are hesitant about blocking because I unblocked, don't give that another thought. If that editor's actions deserve a block I am not opposed. S Philbrick(Talk) 00:45, 7 June 2021 (UTC)

Dear I made an edit on this page,you reverted it. I am new here,missing and learning at the same time. I want you to revert back my edits because I added a name of her fellow actor who has worked with her in 21 films and paired with her romantically in 13 films. The names of other actors in article( Rajesh Khanna and Devanand ) they acted with her in 12 and 7 movies together. How can an actor who worked with her in 13 films could not find mention while an actors with 12 and 7 moviews find mention. As I told you I may not have followed the guidelines because I was unaware. I REQUEST YOU EITHER YOU RESTORE MY CHANGES WITH REQUIRED EDITING OR TELL ME HOW TO DO THESE EDITS--Workhardalltime (talk) 08:07, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
- Workhardalltime, As a new editor, you may not be aware that it is considered good practice for editors to leave a relevant edit summary. It's not absolutely required so you can't always count on it, but I tried to leave and edit summary in all cases. If you click on "view history" you will see the recent edits in that page also shows the edit summary. In the case of the reversion of your edit my edit summary was:
- Copyright issue re https://www.hindustantimes.com/bollywood/jeetendra-turns-78-did-you-know-his-wedding-with-hema-malini-was-stopped-by-a-drunk-dharmendra/story-SN4QogQE72OljaqFbBWlCP.html
- It was my conclusion that the material you added was substantially copied from a copyrighted article. S Philbrick(Talk) 12:55, 7 June 2021 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Tayra Meléndez/College Statistical Totals requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. - For tps, this has been discussed at the subpage talk page. I think the issue is resolved. It may look like a very short article, but it is actually a subpage used for transclusion into the parent article.
Table IDs
Re your post at VPT. all HTML elements (without exception) may have an ID (but no more than one). Here's a table with an id in Wikimarkup:
{| class=wikitable id=fruitscolours
|+Fruits and their colours
|-
!Fruit ||Colour when ripe
|-
|Apple ||Red or green. Sometimes yellow. Or orange.
|-
|Banana ||Yellow. Except for some kinds
|-
|Blackberry ||Dark purple, almost black
|-
|Gooseberry ||Green
|-
|Lemon ||Yellow
|-
|Orange ||Orange, obviously
|-
|Plum ||Usually purple
|}
which produces
Fruit | Colour when ripe |
---|---|
Apple | Red or green. Sometimes yellow. Or orange. |
Banana | Yellow. Except for some kinds |
Blackberry | Dark purple, almost black |
Gooseberry | Green |
Lemon | Yellow |
Orange | Orange, obviously |
Plum | Usually purple |
There's a help page about this somewhere, Don't use {{anchor|fruitscolours}}
instead of id=fruitscolours
because it expands to <span class="anchor" id="fruitscolours"></span>
which has two problems if used in the same position as my id=fruitscolours
above - one is that it assigns the id to a span element, not to the table; the other is that a span element is only valid in places where plain text is permitted. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 07:44, 21 June 2021 (UTC)

Mistaken revdelete
You mistakenly deleted 4 revisions on my page Solar eclipse of February 28, 2101. The website nomad-tanzania.com has no text related to the article, and I did not directly copy text from there.🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 17:42, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
- Kepler-1229b, I didn't remove it, the text was removed by @Onel5969:. I completed the Revdel.
- I've temporarily restored so it can be reviewed.
- The text exactly matches that at https://www.nomad-tanzania.com/blogs/chada-katavi/1st-sept-2016-an-annular-solar-eclipse-in-katavi-and-mahale which is beyond coincidence. Is it possible you copied that text from somewhere else in Wikipedia which was also copied by that site? S Philbrick(Talk) 17:54, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
- Kepler-1229b, I waited several hours for a response but I see you are not active, so I have restored the revision deletion. Please write back when you've got some time to discuss. S Philbrick(Talk) 01:18, 25 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Sphillbrick:I'm here. That website could have copied from the article Solar eclipse of September 1, 2016. Al solar eclipse articles have almost identical text, so it is possible that the editor who posted that notice was mistaken.🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 02:33, 25 June 2021 (UTC)
- Kepler-1229b, A very common situation is that some other site copies from Wikipedia, and that site shows up as the possible source in a Copy Patrol report. Those of us that tend to work on those reports are aware of the potential for false positives, but our check is to look at the edit summary to see if it includes the required wording per WP:COPYWITHIN. If that isn't mentioned in the edit summary the presumption is that it has been copied from that source. It is possible to at the attribution after the fact as noted at the link guideline. Feel free to restore your edit and add the attribution. I see that you work on a lot of astronomy articles, and I suspect there are other similar examples where wording gets reused so I hope you will follow the guidelines if this situation occurs again. Ori (genetics)
I didn't copy anything from external sources with my edit at Ori (genetics). I restored this version of the history. The "all public logs"[1] says you think its a copyright violation of [2], but its the other way around. That post on the forum is tagged with 2009-08-09. Our article looks like this in 2008: [3] which is the same content on the forum. Ori (genetics) was merged with Origin of replication with this edit. I restored the ori article because there is no mention of ori in Origin of replication - it was removed after a rewrite of the article. and ping @Onel5969: Christian75 (talk) 15:27, 27 June 2021 (UTC)

I've temporarily undone the RD one so that it can further be discussed. S Philbrick(Talk) 15:32, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
- Sphilbrick and Christian75 - when I looked at the history, to see if it had been split off, I noticed that size of Christian75's edit didn't match the prior version, so I didn't think it was a simple revert. I restored the redirect not only due to what I perceive as a copyvio, but also because the article was not properly referenced as per WP:VERIFY, and did not have enough in-depth coverage to pass WP:GNG. But Christian75's explanation seems to be correct regarding the copyvio. Onel5969 TT me 15:40, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
- Onel5969, I also notice the difference in size. My intention was to check a snippet of text to see if it was in the original I initially thought it wasn't but now see that I didn't look closely enough. I think we are agreed it was a reverse copy via Sonata copyright problem. Not quite sure what to do next. S Philbrick(Talk) 15:43, 27 June 2021 (UTC)

- Consensus has been reached to delete all books in the book namespace. There was rough consensus that the deleted books should still be available on request at WP:REFUND even after the namespace is removed.
- An RfC is open to discuss the next steps following a trial which automatically applied pending changes to TFAs.
- IP addresses of unregistered users are to be hidden from everyone. There is a rough draft of how IP addresses may be shown to users who need to see them. This currently details allowing administrators, checkusers, stewards and those with a new usergroup to view the full IP address of unregistered users. Editors with at least 500 edits and an account over a year old will be able to see all but the end of the IP address in the proposal. The ability to see the IP addresses hidden behind the mask would be dependent on agreeing to not share the parts of the IP address they can see with those who do not have access to the same information. Accessing part of or the full IP address of a masked editor would also be logged. Comments on the draft are being welcomed at the talk page.
- The community authorised COVID-19 general sanctions have been superseded by the COVID-19 discretionary sanctions following a motion at a case request. - DanCherek, I thought there was a way to access it I hope that works. Thanks. S Philbrick(Talk) 00:26, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

- is it "violation of our copyright policy"? --Adam majewski (talk) 19:01, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- Adam majewski, There are basically two questions:
- is it too close to some other text, and not one of the exceptions such as pure list data or acceptably short quotations
- is that of the text subject to copyright in a way that's not compatible with our licenses
- According to the CopyPatrol tool:
- CopyPatrol entry
- The overlap is 100%
- The copyright statement seems to allow broad usage, but it is a GNU license, not a CC license. If I am interpreting Wikipedia:Text of the GNU Free Documentation License correctly, that license isn't good enough. I also thought I read something recently about GNU licensing, but cannot recall where I saw it. I'd be happy to hear my interpretation is wrong, and if so I will happily restore your edit but I need confirmation that Wikipedia accepts that license. S Philbrick(Talk) 20:30, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

Many thanks AwesomeAubergine (talk) 10:04, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- AwesomeAubergine, That was not removed by me, but I tracked it down and placed it back in the draft. S Philbrick(Talk) 13:18, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- I noticed that you revision deleted a couple of copyright vios from that draft, but I think you may have missed one: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Girmit_Global_Museum&oldid=1034165324Jackattack1597 (talk) 20:31, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

Done Good catch. I know why I missed it, but that doesn't change the fact that I missed it. S Philbrick(Talk) 21:08, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

How long is the temporary restore for or can use it? AwesomeAubergine (talk) 07:28, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
- AwesomeAubergine, My reference to temporary restore simply referred to the edits that had been revision deleted. The revision deletion has been reinstituted so anything that's left visible is fine and can be used. S Philbrick(Talk) 13:09, 20 July 2021 (UTC)

Revdel
Howdy! User talk:ArtResearcher1955 contains more of the copyvio you had just rev-delled, as they say it is their original writing. However, it matches this. They also say they are a gallery, so it's UPE... --- Possibly ☎ 19:12, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
