It is completely unsourced and does not indicate how this choir meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable music group. - Draft:Karl Zelik ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Hello! The AFC that I had submitted Draft:Karl Zelik was rejected based on notability, but I believe he meets notability criteria #1 for academics based on the combination of highly cited papers in biomechanics and a number of awards from biomechanics societies. What is the proper way to continue from this point? Thanks! JohnJoePayne (talk) 18:40, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
- Your draft was declined NOT rejected. Theroadislong (talk) 19:05, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
- @JohnJoePayne: In other words, you may improve and resubmit the draft. Here you say he is notable for having highly cited papers, and you may be correct, but the draft doesn't say anything about his papers being highly cited, or about the criteria for selection his "selected publications". The lead should make clear what he is notable for. The awards may not be as helpful as you think. The awarding organizations are notable, so it would be good if you added internal links to them, but not every award from a notable organization is a "highly prestigious academic award or honor", which is what Wikipedia is looking for. Did any independent (i.e. not Zelik, his employer, or the awarding organization) secondary source cover his receipt of the awards? If not, don't mention them in the lead. Similarly, has any independent source covered his being the chief scientific officer of HeroWear? Perhaps the business section of a regional newspaper? If not, including it in the lead sounds rather promotional. Also, external links, ones that take the reader away from Wikipedia, are not allowed in the body text. --Worldbruce (talk) 19:33, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
20:05:50, 13 May 2021 review of submission by Mrexcoder
Hi, I saw that reviewers rejected the article 'Minus Zero' stating that company is not notable as per references. But all articles were independent including renowned Economic Times, Dataquest India, etc. Only two of those were interview based. As per Wikipedia guidelines the company seems notable, and articles have proper coverage (not just passing mention). I even didn't add any info that was not covered by independent sources.
Can you let me know what were the errors regarding each parameter? It would be a great help to improve my future articles or edit and contribute better to Wikipedia
Mrexcoder (talk) 20:05, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
- Mrexcoder Your draft does little more than tell about the existence of the company. Wikipedia articles must do more, they must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the company. If you review WP:ORG carefully, it points out that announcements of routine business activities do not establish notability. 331dot (talk) 21:57, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

- Pjedicke As noted by reviewers, you do not have independent reliable sources to support the content of the draft. Interviews, information from the publisher, blogs, fan websites, and other similar sources do not establish notability. Independent reliable sources need to have a reputation of editoral control and fact checking, and be independent of the subject(no interviews with the author). Dear sir, madam, I am requesting a re-review. The subject of this article is a professional journalist: https://journa.com/denise-delgado. Also, a professional singer. She has performed often and in countries such as France, Belgium and The Netherlands. Furthermore, she is a public figure because she was a main character in a TV show. Her audience keeps on growing. In addition to all of this, she has her own business in content creation called ImContent (www.imcontent.nl). She is the role model for many, but especially for girls growing up. All the more reason to accept this article in Wikipedia.
Kind regards. HannieBeen (talk) 11:00, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

I had created this article about a school as I read somewhere that school articles are usually accepted. But I completely agree and respect your decision to delete it as otherwise a lot of wrong information can come to Wiki.
Can you share what else information, do I need to add to make this article acceptable? Can I add news links of Hindi website for adding creditability? I'm not sure if an news article written in Hindi can be added as reference. I intend to work on this draft to get it to acceptable standard and then publish it.

My article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Jeff_Burger) was rejected because it supposedly reads like an advertisement and doesn't quote independent reliable sources. But it consists solely of facts and is written from an objective point of view, and it cites such sources as Who's Who in America and the New Yorker. I am at a loss as to how to improve this entry and would be grateful for any specific suggestions.
71.187.40.39 (talk) 13:45, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
- The draft was declined, which allows improvement and resubmission, not rejected, which is final. Who's Who in America is considered generally unreliable. Most of its content is provided by the person concerned, so editors generally treat it analogous to a self-published source. There is a broad consensus that it cannot be used to establish notability. The New Yorker article merely quotes Burger briefly. That does nothing to help establish notability. Try to make better use of independent sources that contain significant coverage of Burger, and minimize non-independent sources. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:42, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

I promise that I am not being snarky or sarcastic. However: I hit the "Random" link a lot at Wikipedia, and there are a lot of stubs about insects, sports players, and villages, all of which seem to exist for the sake of existing. Therefore, the rejection reasoning "Mere existence does not show notability" doesn't make sense to me. Can someone explain the difference, please?
XtinaS (talk) 14:15, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
- Most insects and villages are considered notable enough for articles, sports people need to pas the criteria at WP:NSPORTS and films need to pass the criteria at WP:NFILM, your draft was sourced to IMDb which is not a reliable source. Theroadislong (talk) 15:11, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
- Ignorance remediation time: If this continues to be determined not notable, would removing links to that page be useful? (See John Sparkes for an example of what I mean.) XtinaS (talk) 15:43, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
- @XtinaS: Removing the inter-language link Melancholia on John Sparkes probably would be useful. If you do so, make very clear in your edit summary why you're removing it - that although an article exists on the German Wikipedia, it's sourced only to IMDb, which, being user-generated, is not a reliable source, and your searches of [wherever you searched] found insufficient sources to demonstrate notability. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:42, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I would like to ask for an advice on how to expand consensus gathering. In my humble opinion the article has been rejected and shut down by a small dissenting group and the previous AFD discussion on the topic is not based on a logical basis. I just would like to know if there is something wrong with the sources being provided and what it needs to be done to eventually improve the article. Many thanks Askadvice (talk) 11:40, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- Askadvice The draft was rejected, meaning that it will not be considered further. That, combined with the AFD, means that this person likely does not merit and will not get an article at this time. He has not been shown to meet Wikipedia's special definition of notability and no amount of editing can change that. If you have an association with this person, please review conflict of interest and paid editing. 331dot (talk) 13:39, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Askadvice. The previous AFD discussion was based on Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, so you are unlikely to convince Wikipedians that it was illogical. There are many problems with the sources. Examining a handful of the provided ones at random:
- Elle and La Voce di New York are passing mentions, not significant coverage of Morassutti.
- Letteral Mente has none of the characteristics of a reliable source. It says its information is "tratto liberamente dal Web", and mentions Wikiquote.org specifically. In addition to not being reliable it is likely circular.
- Il Piccolo, Messaggero Veneto, and comingsoon.it are independent, reliable, secondary sources containing significant coverage of Morassutti. However, Il Piccolo and Messaggero Veneto have the same publisher and what they say is very similar, suggesting that although the pieces were published two weeks apart and nominally have different authors, either the second borrowed heavily from the first, or both used a common source, such as a press release. They won't count as separate works towards notability, so pick just one so it doesn't look like you're trying to game the system.
- If the rest of the draft's sources are like the sample, then half to two-thirds of them don't suit your needs. Get rid of them, and make heavier use of the independent, reliable, secondary sources that contain significant coverage of him.
- The previous article was deleted, and the draft rejected, for the topic not being notable. If that can be overcome, the draft's promotional tone will need to be fixed too. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:32, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

Upon creating a page for Agensgraph, my article was denied due to a reason below:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject.
I checked the guidelines on sources and I got that blogs, PR news, interviews related to the topic's organization is not allowed to be used as a source, but then it got me wondering because Neo4j, one of the graph databases with wiki page has sources full of their own blog&websites and books are written by Neo4j personnel. I don't mean to be a snitch here, I'm just curious why Neo4j is allowed to use their own websites as source (even twitter), whereas AgensGraph doesn't.

- Wikipedia is forever a work in progress. It contains high quality articles and poor quality ones. The existence of articles that do not meet Wikipedia's policies and guidelines does not mean they have been in any way "allowed". It may simply mean that no one has gotten around to deleting them yet. So generally it isn't productive to compare a draft to other pages. The essay WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS may help you understand why. If you wish to learn from example articles, be sure to use only Wikipedia's best. --Worldbruce (talk) 06:22, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
- Neo4j's first actual edit was in February 2010 (it was originally a redirect). Drafting wasn't a thing until 2011 and wasn't mandatory until 2018. Our standards, and the enforcement thereof, have tightened over the years. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Jéské Couriano 06:29, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

I made this draft today but with only a few references to it but it got rejected stating it doesn't meets GNG parameter, I have added more references to It and I want AFC reviewers help in making me understand that weather it now passes GNG or not if No, Why despite of having More than 4-5 News Articles. and if yes How shall I add more info to it. Thanks
Suryabeej (talk) 14:09, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Suryabeej: It is not so much about the number of news articles but the depth of coverage in those articles. You need to show that multiple reliable, independent publications have written in depth about Batra. If the newspaper publishes a press release, that's not independent coverage. Nothing written by the institute that he is on the board for is independent. An interview with him isn't independent coverage. If the news article is only a few lines long that's not in depth coverage. Has anyone written a book about him? Or a chapter of a book about him? That would be good, in depth coverage. Dear Wikipedia,
My name is Cameron Smith and I work for Exact Editions. I request your assistance because we would like to update one part of our company Wikipedia page - the “Who They Work With” section.
This section lists some of the magazines we work with. We would like to edit this so that it is up-to-date and organised. We would like to add the new magazines that have joined the platform over the past few years. We would also like to categorize the list by genre of magazine so it is more organized and clear on the page. For example, having sections like Art, Music, Sport, Politics etc…
Please could you advise how we can change this in accordance with your standards and guidelines?
We look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Cameron (Exact Editions)

- @Smithcameron100: Hello and Welcome to the AfC Help desk. The first thing you should do, immedately, since you work for Exact Editions, is to read over WP:PAID and make the required disclosures. Since editing the article (not just "page") about a company you work for would be a conflict of interest, you should propose your suggestions on the article talkpage using the Edit request mechanism. Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide might also be worth a read. Best wishes, Victor Schmidt (talk) 16:42, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

- Draft:Mint 400 Records ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Hi, This page was initially marked by the WikiProject Record Labels as at the "Start" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft_talk:Mint_400_Records) which I assumed meant that the page was on the right track to gathering what they needed to be published as it's a notable New Jersey record label. So I know "Other Sites Exist" and each site should be approved by it's own merits but I've thoroughly researched about 100 labels and this label seems more notable and has been written about in every publication that is located in the region. It does seem that a while back there were journalists who had wiki pages and someone went around deleting every known journalist associated with this page: Jim Testa, Bob Makin, Gary Wein and others in order to discredit this page further. Is there some reason that this page which was posted at some point years ago, then taken down and marked as promising and also marked as a good start through the WikiProject Record Labels, but is now considered not able to even be edited or worked on? If I could just have some clarification on why this particular label is not notable when they appear to be very notable in the Tri-State area, then maybe I could better restructure the article instead of trying to use the old information that was in the wiki archives.
It does seem that this article keeps getting flagged for the subject being mentioned only in passing but all record labels are mentioned only in passing as they are the producers of the product that is getting notable mentions and press. It'd be like never allowing producers of music to get an article written even if they worked on the most popular releases of all time because they weren't written about directly but their work was. Why does the Record Label Project link say the "Quality Scale" does not apply for Record label entries but it clearly does? Is there people who strictly deal with record labels who are wiki admins that can give input here?
Also wondering why one of the last reviewers of this article deleted what another admin wrote that said this article should not be deleted even if its not edited for longer than 6 months? I don't remember the exact tag but it made it sound like this was a promising article that could eventually be published.
24.228.70.170 (talk) 19:53, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, the requirement for significant coverage in independent reliable sources does mean that some topics are not covered as well as others, but this is necessary for verification and notability purposes. 331dot (talk) 22:59, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
- Why do you get to decide the importance of this? There are literally thousands of articles about the music produced by this label and they are mentioned in the articles but as certain admins claim it is in "passing". Why out of nowhere is this article being flagged after years of existing? Shouldn't someone who deals exclusively with the WikiProjects for Record Labels at least have a look at this? I added the label.fm link to their full discography, how is that not verification that they exist and are the label for these releases?

I just want to know what I need to make the article acceptable in the eyes of Wikipedia. I have done much work in calculating the statistics of storing various sized used books in various sized contributed cardboard boxes and think this information ( Mean & Standard deviation) is of value to the general public. I can make the article more generic (remove St Francis church from article) and be more general in definition. Basically all the information is there to do a used book sale. The reason I have not worked on this page/article is that the COVID-19 pandemic suspended any work on our used book sale.

Hello, Could you please help me? My wikipedia article about Portuguese artist José Pedro Croft was decined because of 2 reasons: - "Copyrighted elements", but everything has been either written by myself or fully credited. Can we know which part is problematic? - "Undisclosed financial stakes": I expect no personal financial gain from this article, I have collaborated with the artist before but he is not paying me. I'm an art historian and this is an informative article based on books, press articles and museum websites. José Pedro Croft is one of the biggest living artists on the Portuguese art scene, with numerous international exhibitions and present in significant institutional collections - I sincerely believe that he should have a detailed wikipedia page in English.
Thank you very much!

Is there a reason this article can no longer be worked on and re-submitted?

- It was rejected as not notable. That's why. "Local" companies or record labels rarely meet the Wikipedia definition of a notable organization, as it requires significant coverage in independent reliable sources of the label itself, not just its musicians. 331dot (talk) 13:16, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

i was working on our community great personalities and i need to publish them as soon as possible to promote people Charankondaveeti (talk) 13:12, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
- Charankondaveeti Wikipedia has no interest in helping you promote people, whether you work for them or not. If you do work for them, you must review conflict of interest and paid editing immediately. You seem to fundamentally misunderstand what Wikipedia is, please review the five pillars. 331dot (talk) 13:14, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

I just received a message from Hoary saying the article that I have submitted was created. I tryed to google it but I can't find it yet.
Can you please tell me when the article starts to be visible for others on internet.
Thanks

- Artrencontre Assuming that the article is formally marked as reviewed by a patroller, it takes time for search engines to index articles. It can be quickly, but can take a little longer. 331dot (talk) 13:22, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

This was rejected as an article, but I thought it could be a Stub listed under American Zoologists. I was wondering how to resubmit it as a stub request.
Online801 (talk) 13:50, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
- Online801 Whether it is a stub or not, this person still needs to meet the notability criteria. The draft currently reads as a resume and not an encyclopedia article that summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to state. Please read Your first article. 331dot (talk) 14:05, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

Hey, I want an article to be published on this encyclopedia but I still can't get my head around the sources to be included in the article.

Hello! I have 7 independent sources for a contribution I've written on a musician. Two of them seem to be blacklisted. Are 5 sources enough? I am allowed to use anything from the artist's self-published website such as bio and early life info? Your help is much appreciated!
Thank you.
