Advice, please
I have come to doubt all the contributions made by User:Zos.soa. The user talk page is largely a resurrection of a deleted (and possibly self-promotional) article, and the mainspace contributions seem to be largely advertising, but in such quiet backwaters that they have been left unchallenged for over 10 years. But I'm reluctant to revert the lot without asking a second opinion. Advice, please. Philip Trueman (talk) 14:01, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

Unblock of Jayhawks1925/Wmorton1925

Ammonium diuranate structure
Hi. Are you sure that this structure is for "ammonium diuranate"? It has the same elemental composition, but the article you reference calls it "uranyl dihydroxylamide tetrahydrate". In other words, it's rather than (Actually, the picture makes it look like !) I have tried to find an on-line article giving the structure of ammonium diuranate, and I find that it has been done, but I can't access any of the articles without paying! From what I could read in the Google list of hits (https://www.google.com/search?q=%22ammonium+diuranate%22+structure) it seems that there should be ammonium ions, which your structure doesn't have. Please Ping me when you answer. Eric Kvaalen (talk) 08:08, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

Making Changes to Powwow page
I was about to dive back into updating the powwow page again. However, I wanted to ask more about your knowledge and study of powwows. I made a lot of changes a couple years ago that were readily deleted without being checked. Many of the drum groups I provided links to their music. I also corrected many of the euro-centric phrasing that was present on the page. Though, my guess many of the phrasing was taking directly from some of the sources cited? I have over 30 years of powwow experience and can provide updated sources as well as personal photos with correct dancer citations... Though, before I go through the trouble again I wanted to know your attachment to a lot of whats written. Some of my changes would address the usage of the term Native American or Native American music... and would correct that as being more specific to the nation or drum groups. Not all Native Americans make use of this style of singing nor drumming nor the delineation between North and South. Immersive Prophet (talk) 05:37, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
- I'm also noticing that none of your dances style descriptions have citations. Also, how does one access the wayback machine links? You cite the website a few times though the links don't seem to turn up any information. In fact a lot of the information on the page is lacking citations and is either out of date or incorrect. Are you drawing on personal experience for some of the descriptions?

Ban Question
You mentioned that an edit I did was vandalism. How was it vandalism? How can I prevent doing vandalism? Shakespeare143 (talk) 10:30, 7 April 2021 (UTC)Shakespeare143 (talk) 10:18, 7 April 2021 (UTC) Also, when are you supposed to discuss making an edit before making an edit? I did not realize I was doing vandalism and I would appreciate not being banned. I also just undid most of the edits I made recently because I am worried that any edit I did before could be viewed as vandalism.
Shakespeare143 (talk) 10:40, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
Also, I'm confused because I thought it was common for Wikipedians to disagree with one another with what edits to include and what not to. Because each specific edit can be interpreted by another person as being biased/breaking Wikipedia rules/having a POV, why am I being warned for doing vandalism when instead there could be a discussion to improve the edit (or someone else just changing the Wikipedia page without a discussion)? Am I being warned more because I am new to Wikipedia? Do people post their edit somewhere else to be checked before posting the edit to the Wikipedia page?Shakespeare143 (talk) 11:08, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- Shakespeare143 when you are cautioned about your edits like the ones you deleted, you are supposed to read what is linked in the message. If you continue with your edits then the warning level is escalated as has been the case. In your case you can look at WP:BRD where you made some Bold edits and they were Reverted. You can create a section on the specific article talk page about the edit that was reverted and call for discussion. That would be the way forward in your specific case. Best! Vikram Vincent 11:18, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
Ok, thanks, I'll follow your advice. Shakespeare143 (talk) 11:26, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
Nonsense
You are not a historian, you are just an editor what source am I supposed to cite the old medallion of Murtag or his stone manuscript that is not published in any other language than Bulgarian even if I cite that you will still remove it, You don't have any information, I have the information and I'm trying to fix the falsehoods that are currently on display. I removed some text because it is false according to new data. For example I removed that Krum comes from turkic origin not only because it's false and also because you can make that stupid connection with every name. Capital City Service
Firstly I am very new to Wikipedia and not even sure if this is how to reply to you. I also had no idea that any messages were left re: edits to any info I have made.
I have no idea what a sandbox is but will look into it. I am also at a loss as to why you felt that stating that the C.C.S along with most Scottish Teams were approx 4 years behind their English Counterparts as it is FACT !
And that would have been the end of the matter but still Fact..However as I came across the message that it had been edited I was curious as to why a Fact would be removed.
As I have stated I am new to this and assumed it would have been revised by a CCS Member.
You will have to grit your teeth I'm afraid as trying to find out why I worked out how and who had revised it. So I read your profile.
So just for closure of the matter there are a few things I think I should bring up for your attention.
Firstly it states you have been editing etc for 15 years..I'm a Layman / Woman, however in the short time it took me to read your Profile information.
It came to my mind that unless you are / were a Member of the C.C.S.
If not ( highly unlikely ) 15 years or not you are Not Qualified to amend a Topic that you have no understanding of.
Also I feel I must add that although I added a few lines to update the subject matter to the relevant dates for anyone involved in Football.
Sadly after reading your profile I have to say I was extremely embarrassed to read such an egotistical biography of yourself and the subject matters you claim to have covered and photographs etc.
That I now realize that there are some people who assume they are a 'Jack of All Trades, Master of None'.
And that your life may be a difficult one if all you do is spend time correcting other peoples attempts to participate in a platform which should be for people to put contributions to matters they have knowledge of.
I now wish I hadn't found the messages. I think maybe a good starting point would be for you to look at 'Your Profile' and amend it.
Maybe you haven't changed it in the 15 years and have forgotten, maybe you were a teenager 15 years ago when you did the bio.
Either way You are No William Shakespeare, Karl Marx or even a Bronte Sister.
As you will be aware Andy Warhol said "Everyone should have their 15 minutes of Fame".
I think rather than amending subjects you have No knowledge of your next 15 years may be used for something productive, Charity Work or Write & Publish a few Books yourself.
Maybe Quantum Physics, Trainspotting, Stamp Collecting etc which may be used as Educational Books and take credit for your own work, instead of the image your bio portrays.
To conclude sadly You have my Sympathy that you have this feeling of Superiority over others, Maybe this has been pointed out before as I stated not sure how it works.
You will take it as a Character Assassination. It is not, It's an honest response to possibly the worst bio I have ever come across.
If your bio is one of fun made to look serious then my apologies..
I hope you have some friends to support you.
When my new book is ready for publication I may ask for your input, It's about English Football over the last 60 years.
I hope you are not upset by constructive criticism and may check back in a few weeks to see if you have indeed made the necessary changes to stop anyone else reading it feeling such sadness and a waste of 15 years.
Good luck for the future Angielufc1980 (talk) 01:43, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
- Even though something tells me I may regret this, Angielufc1980, I looked at your contributions (which have all been reverted, by the way), and I do get the impression that you honestly want to help. Therefore, I will give you some advice, since you're new. First, it doesn't matter what any of us know. It only matters what we can prove in reliable sources. You didn't provide a reliable source, so it was reverted. That's all.
- Second, the information may have been factual, but the writing was commentary, and encyclopedias are not written like that. Third, infoboxes are not the place for such detailed info.
- Fourth, a person's user page is hardly a bio. And finally, although I can tell you're upset, getting reverted is not the end of the world. We have rules here that need to be followed, and while anyone is welcome to edit, failure to follow those rules will likely end up in reversions. Simply read and follow the instructions, and everything will be ok. I'd start with WP:Five pillars, which are the most important rules. Everyone gets reverted at some point, so all you need too do is try again using reliable sources, encyclopedic style and tone, and stay within the rules. Keep in mind that not all information is encyclopedic. We're here to provide a summary of all knowledge, not all knowledge. I hope that helps, and if you try and work at it you may just become a good editor. But it takes time, and mistakes will be made along the way, so use those as learning experiences.
- A link to your sandbox is at the top of your screen. You can use that for tests, playing around, or writing drafts. Keep in mind that we like to WP:Assume good faith when dealing with other editors, especially those we disagree with or who have upset us, and anything about any living person must conform to WP:BLP policy --anywhere on Wikipedia-- including your sandbox. I hope that helps. Zaereth (talk) 02:20, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
Firstly there is no regret to feel from yourself. Thankyou for your well put together response it is much clearer now had I have known this info before I would have referenced it etc. I'm not upset and it's probably due to my age that when I was growing up we had The Encyclopedia Brittanica and access to librarys suppose looking at the title Wikipedia I should have worked it out. However I was led to believe it was the poor man's Google and just use if you can't find what you are looking for. However it was the person who sent the message who I was shocked by. Now I'm aware of what its supposed to be for I assumed to rectify information or add correct facts however the person who reverted the edit of CCS. Where was his reference to say that they could take it off and they had no way of knowing and on a subject they know nothing about. So really it is just a site where would be Authors can try their hand .Thanks anyway Angielufc1980 (talk) 22:04, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
- The message Materialscientist left you was a basic template people use, just to let you know what has happened, as a courtesy. It may sound a bit terse, but it is just a templated message. Very common around here. Nobody is required to know anything about a subject in order to remove unsourced information. The simple fact that it doesn't have a source is reason enough, plus there are lots of other reasons people can use.
- Here's the thing: we can't verify the true identity of any user here, so we simply do not rely on anyone's expertise because there is no way to know if they are truly an expert on any subject. That's why we require everything to come from some reliable source, because those we can trust. Any person who is truly an expert should have no problem finding sources, and that way, anyone who come here can look those sources up and verify it for themselves. That's the only way a site like this can work as an encyclopedia, or else we'd be just another blog site. You don't need a reference to remove unsourced info. (How would that even work?) But you do need one to add it. I hope that helps. Zaereth (talk) 22:28, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

- Ok, here's where things get complicated. You need to read our policy on what constitutes a reliable source. The policy is WP:Reliable source. Daily Mail has been deemed unreliable because they have been caught too many time falsifying info. The FA source, well, that's what we call a WP:Primary source, meaning it is directly involved with the subject. As an encyclopedia, we are a WP:Tertiary source, meaning we use WP:Secondary sources for the most part. Primary sources like the FA decision is strictly forbidden by our policy on WP:Biographies of living persons, which trumps all other policies, in particular the section WP:BLPPRIMARY. For that reason, I have redacted that material here, and I would suggest you do the same if you've posted it anywhere else. Please read the BLP policy very carefully before you write anything about a living person, anywhere on Wikipedia. This includes talk pages. We take the BLP rules very seriously around here, because what we write here can have very serious, real-world consequences for living people.
- If you have any further questions, I would suggest asking on my talk page or yours. Materialscientist mostly just patrols new changes looking for vandalism and unsourced edits, so no point in filling up his talk page. There is a lot to know, but I would suggest starting with the policies I linked here, plus our three core policies, WP:V, WP:NOR, and WP:NPOV. Thanks, and have a nice day. Zaereth (talk) 23:51, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
Thankyou ..I'm so sorry but Daily Mail Fair play Most Newspapers are bogus..Are you including the same article in The Telegraph, The Guardian. And beyond belief The FA Commission Hearing having No bearing ..sorry what a crock of sh*t..you are being complicit in a living Woman's bad offensive behaviour and language and allowing her to climb the ladder with cash while people are not supposed to know ..A disgrace I shall use the Beano and Dandy instead as they make more sense than your Narnia State made up rules best thing is delete Wikipedia what a sham..I said I had not posted it on the Individuals page who was sanctioned ..However After reading your response I will now be posting it everywhere..It's not libel as it's True Facts that you opted not to share with the general public for what ever reason. Dhadi
Hi! You moved Dhadi (music) to Dhadi. Didn't that overwrite the dab page that was at this title? – Uanfala (talk) 21:54, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, but see WP:ONEOTHER. The other topic in that dab was minor, and redlinked since its creation in 2016 (by a sock). Materialscientist (talk) 07:23, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
- You believe Dhadi (music) is the primary topic? I disagree. If I search on Google Books, I see more or less equal distribution between the ballad singer and the hill state (which, incidentally, is currently inaccessible to readers because the dan age is gone and no hatnote has been added). Would you mind reversing the move, restoring the dab page, and then – if you still see a primary topic – starting an RM? – Uanfala (talk) 12:11, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
- Google is not a reference. Create a reasonable, referenced article on the hill state, and I'll restore the dab. Materialscientist (talk) 12:58, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
- Usage in sources on Google Books is one of the ways for gauging primary topics (see WP:DETERMINEPRIMARY). Also, the state of development of each article is not relevant for the primary topic status, and topics may also be covered within other articles (MOS:DABMENTION explicitly allows such entries on dab pages). And, I don't know if you're aware, but it comes across as a bit heavy-handed for you to demand that I create an article before you reverse a move you probably shouldn't have made in the first place – claiming a primary topic is almost always potentially controversial and should normally be done not boldly, but via discussion. – Uanfala (talk) 13:17, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
- There is no demand. In May 2019, a user made a request to speedy delete that dab; the request was justified, and was reverted by you. I've granted the request now, because that dab does not comply with our policies. The hill state is not covered on this wiki, and has been redlinked for 5 years with no action. Hence if you wish to revert my action, then please make that dab justifiable; the easiest way to that is creation of the redlinked article. Materialscientist (talk) 13:29, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
- Was the page tagged for G14? WP:G14 would have only been applicable if the dab page disambiguated zero extant articles. I don't know if it had red links, but red links are appropriate on dab pages (MOS:DABRL). Again, I ask you to self-revert: you made a bold action, that was challenged and now the right thing is for you to seek consensus for it. That's what BRD is, right? I can't revert this action myself, because it used administrative privileges which you have and I don't. – Uanfala (talk) 14:02, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

What do you know about Optical conductivity (AfD discussion)? Uncle G (talk) 10:20, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- Enough. The term is definitely notable and sufficiently used in physics and materials science, we just have too few editors who would be interested in cleaning up and expanding numerous stubs in these fields. Materialscientist (talk) 13:50, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- That is true in most fields. Worse, my and others' time is being consumed by the likes of Project:WikiProject California/GNIS cleanup task force, User:Hog Farm/C46, and User:Hog Farm/Missouri attention needed. Tens of thousands of stubs that need checking to see whether they are even true at all. Uncle G (talk) 14:20, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

I've never filed a request to the checkusers before, but I don't think it takes two months to answer a request. I would appreciate if you could assist me in this matter. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Hindu masculine given names
A tag has been placed on Category:Hindu masculine given names indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. Beth Bernobich edits
Hi, I see you reverted my edits for the Beth Bernobich page. Bernobich has deleted her old web page (beth-bernobich.com). She no longer publishes under her legal name and has moved entirely over to her pen name, Claire O'Dell. This includes re-releasing all her novels from Tor under Claire O'Dell. (See claireodell.com) This is on par with Alis Rasmussen and her pen name of Kate Elliott. Is there something Im missing about how to make these edits?
