Western Standard
Hi There,
Can you please undo your merger of Ezra Lavant and the Western Standard?
Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:56a:77a9:9700:3542:46d:1aaa:a1ee (talk) 20:49, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hello. This was not a unilateral decision on my part, unlike your revert of the careful merger work I did. The merge was done, by me, at the request of the folks at AfD. The result of the merging is out of my hands, as the merge was decided to be done by a Wikipedia community consensus, as opposed to outright deletion of the article. I am just the messenger in this—so to speak. You'll have to take up the reasoning for the merger with the folks that chose to merge the two articles. :~Regards, Rosencrantz, or is it Guildenstern?—a/k/a GenQuest "scribble" 01:01, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
Alternate Versions of Supergirl Merger/Deletion
Hello Genquest, I was looking at the Supergirl a bit ago and noticed that the link to the page "alternate versions of supergirl" under the "other versions" section redirected to the Supergirl page itself, rather than to the "Alternate Versions of Supergirl" page. Upon further investigation I found the discussion that was started about the topic here (Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Alternative_versions_of_Supergirl) with the consensus being a merger. However, the page was deleted without being merged. I poked around a bit more and found that History lists you as the last one to have edited the page, wherein your comment was "Complete the merge", so I figured I would let you know. I'm rather new at Wikipedia editing, still, so I'm not sure how to recover the information that was deleted in this now deleted page, or what protocol dictates should be done in this case. I would very much appreciate any information or help you could provide on the matter. Apologies if I formatted this post incorrectly. Cassandra Prime (talk) 00:32, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, CassandraPrime. Your post is fine. The content of merged pages can be found in the History Page of the source article (the one merged into the target). What you came across is a circular link, which should have been fixed during or sometime after the merge took place. Apologies for that. As far as recovering content from an article that has been merged, realize that all Reliably Sourced content should have been / has been merged to its new home. Anything left behind was either unsourced / uncited or not backed by what is considered a reliable source. You can see the merger here. As you can see, not much content was moved over. This was due to the issues above, which led to the article being put up for deletion to begin with. You are certainly encouraged to find additional sourced content to add to the target article.
- Anyway, have fun editing here. Regards, GenQuest "scribble" 01:04, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

Merge - need advice
Hi! As merging is not a process that I deal with often, I would like to ask for your advice on this case where I believe merger would be appropriate. While reviewing new articles at NPP, I came across these 2 - Supadmavyākaraṇa and Padmanabhadatta. The first one is a Sanskrit grammar and the second is it's creator. I started to improve the second article as I saw it first and I couldn't find significant coverage (even though he is often mentions in books and his work is important). The article about the work can be expanded as there's more analysis on it than currently presented. I thought it would be sensible to merge the articles into one Supadmavyākaraṇa and dedicate a section to the author. What do you think? Should I file a merge request for this one or can I just merge them? Thank you in advance! Best, Less Unless (talk) 14:36, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, Less Unless. Yes, I think a merge is appropriate here. Right now, both articles contain a large percent of duplicated materials, and share weak referencing (that I notice you are improving as we speak). The merge could probably go either way, but I lean more towards merging the Supadmavyākaraṇa article into a renamed Padmanabhadatta (but using his full name). You can merge them yourself, either BOLDLY or by going through a merge request process. Bold merges can be quickly reversed, but in this case, I think that should work. If it does get reversed, just file a request at Wikipedia:Proposed article mergers, and we'll get more eyes on it.
- Thank you! I think I will merge them. However I don't think the article needs renaming as all of the sources call him only by the last name (I personally haven't found a single one with his first name). So per naming conventions the name is ok. Less Unless (talk) 16:00, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
- Good! Let me know if you need any help or further advice. Thanks for your work. Good luck. GenQuest "scribble" 21:17, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

Gabby Goat
Unless I'm missing something, looks like when you merged Gabby Goat into List of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies characters per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gabby Goat, you forgot to actually copy the material into the target article. I fixed it, but just a heads up. Herostratus (talk) 08:12, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

Thank you very much for cleaning up my edits to Freaks.
I see on your page that you are interested in page mergers. It might be a bit complicated, but it seems to me that the page If and only if should be merged into the page Logical biconditional, or maybe the other way around. Mechachleopteryx: (talk) 20:32, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

- Mechachleopteryx I was reviewing/archiving my talk page, and thought, "What the heck, I'll slap the merge request banners on the two pages for you and see what develops. Then I found THIS. The same merger was proposed about nine or ten years ago, and was overwhelmingly voted down. I doubt that that consensus will have changed much since then. For now, I suspect that a review of that discussion would be your first step if you wish to pursue the merge. Sorry for such a long delay on this. Étienne de Perier
Hi GenQuest, I see you responded to a comment on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America about the Étienne de Perier article, which was blown up with an edit war recently. I've been working on a full rewrite, and it could benefit from having some more voices in the discussion. Everything's been rewritten and updated on the main article, except for the sections covering his time as governor. That section is in progress at Talk:Étienne de Perier/Temp. —Carter (talk) 19:29, 29 June 2021 (UTC)

- Snow shoes are a must (if you visit during winter). You don't need bear spray. It attracts more bears than it deters. If you want to visit where I grew up then Tlingit will definitely help but English is fine too. If you would like to travel to where I live now you would need a guide but we have one of those. You might meet some Athabascans depending on the time of year. You can land on the lake or on the gravel airstrip and take a short ride or hike around the lake to the cabins and houses. We're about 100 miles from the closest "town" but we have plenty of supplies flown in throughout the Summer. I've been helping them organize as much as I can this year but its mostly falling on them since I am in Anchorage and may be for another month or so. - Gen, when life throws you so many curves you learn to accept that's how it goes. Once you realize that then a very freeing experience occurs. You can let go of the stress and worry and focus on details most people overlook. I exist in the details of life around me. The pink puppy bow in a young girls hair as she plays on the swing set in the park a block away. It catches my attention because the ears wave at me in the wind as her father pushes her higher. She feels the sensation of flying in her stomach and loses her breath as I catch mine. I see and feel the pure emotional connection between a father and daughter, their two song's interacting in the dance of life. The crack in the sidewalk made by the shallow roots of a tree along the path to get to the park. How long has the tree been there? What is its story? It has stood watch over this ground for decades and still claims control over it between the broken pieces of concrete. A single yellow flower blooming on the side of the road. What made that particular patch of ground just perfect for that single flower to grow and bloom just so I would see it and admire its beauty? The way the sunlight bounces off the fountain across the road from my apartment at exactly 8:52pm. The fact that the sun sets between two buildings angled just right to allow that sunlight to hit the water at just that specific time to give me that spectacular view. The details are where true life exists. I am there. That is home to me. --ARoseWolf 12:37, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi Genquest
I hope you are well! I opened a request to merge at Talk:Modern_history_of_Los_Angeles. It seems to have consensus from the respondents, but importantly it fixes a controversial split that was unilaterally performed prior. I wondered if you could take a look and see if it can be closed and executed. I am not very familiar with the merger process and wondered if you might be able to help, but I hope my reaching out isn't an abuse of process (if so, I apologize and please disregard). Hello GenQuest!
Since you works on Wikipedia:Proposed article splits, could you give a look in the case of splitting National_Museum_of_Brazil#2018_fire into National Museum of Brazil fire? This issue have been kind of in stand by since an editor merged the articles back in 2018, but there's an long consensus against the merge and pro the split in the Talk page. There's anything you could do considering how long ago the merge happened? Thanks, Erick Soares3 (talk) 01:39, 5 September 2021 (UTC)

Merge assistance
Hi @GenQuest:,
I hope you are well. You responded to my request for help a month ago at Talk:Modern history of Los Angeles (where we were trying to reverse a split back to History of Los Angeles. You were kind enough to help close the discussion and write up on it, but you finished with saying one of the discussion participants should execute the merger. As no one else has done so thus far, I suppose I should step up and do it. But as much as I have searched, I am having trouble figuring out what to do. Am I just moving content manually to the original History of Los Angeles from the split articles? Is there a mechanism I use? Any advice/help you provide would be immensely helpful, as I am not so well versed in merging, but this is definitely a task that needs to be done on an article as important as LA's history. I thank you in advance for any help you can offer. Cristiano Tomás (talk) 17:22, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
- Hey, CT, They are sometimes complicated. If you'd rather have a mergist do it, I understand. It would just take a bit of patience on your part. I can eventually get to it, but am extremely busy with RL events/work right now, and will be for the next ten days, so it may be a bit. It is also now part of the looooong "To Be Merged" que, (that is unfortunately running at about 14 months). I'll try to prioritize it in the near future if no one else gets to it. A lookie
Hi Gen,
It's been a few months since we worked on anything, but I enjoyed the collaboration between us. I'm working on creating articles for rivers, streams and mountains in my area in which we can find established reliable sources historically agreeable for article creation on geological subjects. I've started with Wild River. I thought it would be a challenge for me because it would be so easy to add original research because I know the rivers, streams, lake and mountains very well but because of constraints found in policy I will have to only use sources that are deemed reliable and only include the information those sources provide. I have found maps and some explanation by Robert Marshall from 1931. There is a hint to a private publication but no link to it. I can also find plenty of topographical maps but maps only get you so far. If you have some time and would like to collaborate more I am so willing to work with an amazing editor as yourself. If not I still think you are amazing so my opinion of you will be altered none regardless. It's just refreshing to work with someone sometimes. Once Wild River is completed my plan is to move on the Wild Lake. Sources will be critical as we are very remote here and notability will be based on not only that it exists but that it and the area is described. --ARoseWolf 16:27, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
- Hey, Rose, first off, I am so pleased that you have overcome the recent challenges facing you. That attests to your strength of spirit, and it terribly gladdens me (to wax poetic). Well done! As far as collaboration, just let me know what you need. RL is tying my hands a bit currently, as I took a third-party contract with Google that is taking up a yuuuuge amount of my time. I don't get to hang here lately as much as I would like. (But, this—too—shall pass.) I will review the articles and offer suggestions as time allows. Let me know what you need, and I promise to get to it at my earliest possibility. Your wiki-friend and compadre, GenQuest "scribble" 02:51, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
