Sorry about how that help desk discussion I just had with you ended
Really, it was wrong of me.--Thylacine24 (talk) 00:56, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- You haven't done anything you owe me an apology over so far as I know, but I admit I did feel like I was somehow missing your point. Beeblebrox (talk) 01:27, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Beeblebrox: I felt like I was missing yours as well, but that's my own fault. It's just tough for me when I get divided answers over what to do when editing. I'll definitely take your advice about asking the people I've conversed with about this.--Thylacine24 (talk) 02:42, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Beeblebrox: Tried contacting the guy who disagreed with me over this. He still hasn't responded. Could you please tell me if you think I should just give up on this, re-ask the question, or pursue it some other way? Sorry to keep bothering you over this.--Thylacine24 (talk) 15:06, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
Arbcom cases
I'll post this here because there are possibly already people gunning for my blood for having the nerve to comment at all as a defrocked admin, but also because I have a great respect for your work: "...In any event Rexx is hardly the first person to just walk off when a case was opened, and historically I don't think that in and of itself has been seen as something to sanction over"
- actually, according to an arbitrary conclusion by the Committee, it is, and it was one of the very so called FoF I was desysoped, tarred, and feathered for, rather than admonished (which was the remedy most of the community were expecting, even including Iridescent). Some people claim that participation is required per WP:ADMINACCT, but like me, RexxS has participated at the beginning, and like me, he is naÏvely expecting the Committee to do some real arbitrating and thoroughly examine the evidence and the behaviour and motives of some of the plaintiffs - and those who comment loudly but who are not directly involved. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:53, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- I was thinking about admin conduct cases and realized that at the three I've actually been a party to, the admin in question did participate, ended up doing something that actually helped the case against them, and were removed anyway. I really don't blame anyone for not participating, it's just extra buttons on a website, not a court of law. Beeblebrox (talk) 22:21, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- Now the latest case is over and done with, you said previously above it's 'it's just extra buttons on a website, not a court of law', but a lot of people, perhaps most, who contribute to Wikipedia are mature, intelligent and educated (it's not supposed to a fan site for garage bands or matches with predetermined, scripted outcomes, and political election campaigns) and a lot of us - and you - take it very seriously, that's why we're here, and for such people its not so much the loss of those buttons, but the humiliation and character assassination that go with it are a real punishment and the committee must surely be aware of that, even if the clerks aren't bothered to do something about it. MfD nomination of Wikipedia:Give 'em enough rope
Wikipedia:Give 'em enough rope, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Give 'em enough rope (2nd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). Baird Jones
I wanted to write an article on Baird Jones. A user who you blocked had deleted the article. I was wondering if you could userfy it for me so that I may work on it. Thank you

BlackAmerican (talk) 09:06, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- Well, while I don't agree with the deletion, there's a not a lot there, no sources at all, just five sentences. But 2008 was a very different time around here. Anyway, I've userfied what was there at User:BlackAmerican/Baird Jones. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:31, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
Does this look like enough information to put into the main space? [1] BlackAmerican (talk) 11:48, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

UTRS 41528
Good morning. Hope today finds you well. MathKeduor7 (talk · contribs) Is requesting unblock at UTRS appeal #41528. I'd appreciate your feedback and any insights. The ticket contains content I could email to you if you do not UTRS. Thanks, --Deepfriedokra (talk) 10:13, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
- I don't frequent UTRS as much as I used to (arbcom appeals being more than enough) but I'm having a look at it now and will comment there. Beeblebrox (talk) 17:26, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
RexxS admonishment
I was interested to see your oppose at the RexxS PD. I always interpreted an Arbcom admonishment to be more severe than a warning, not a softened version of one. Like, I feel like it's the most severe remedy that Arbcom implements short of hard sanctions, and serves as a final "checkpoint" prior to sanctions going forward. I'm curious as to whether there are any examples of an admonishment proving to have no teeth? ~Swarm~ {sting} 05:25, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- I just think phrasing like "final warning" is more clear in its intent. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:28, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
Notice of noticeboard discussion
There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. It's just the Tenebrae thing, and I mentioned you. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 11:14, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
User
Hello. The user CrazonF1T looks like similar to Stephen C Taylor who you blocked last February. The way he adds contents reminds me of the same person. I can be absolutely wrong obviously. Therefore, I'm texing you in order to check this new user and whether I'm right or not.--Island92 (talk) 21:34, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
- Just ata glance it seems likely. I'll look a little deeper. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:52, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
Re: RexxS Arbcom
I have to say, I think you are getting a lot of heat for what was a difficult but ultimately fair decision. Keep up the good work. Hemiauchenia (talk) 15:35, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
- It's all part of the job. You can't do anything right when you're an arb, someone will always find fault. I knew that when I signed up for it. Beeblebrox (talk) 15:49, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – April 2021
News and updates for administrators from the past month (March 2021).
- Following a request for comment, F7 (invalid fair-use claim) subcriterion a has been deprecated; it covered immediate deletion of non-free media with invalid fair-use tags.
- Following a request for comment, page movers were granted the
delete-redirect
userright, which allows moving a page over a single-revision redirect, regardless of that redirect's target.
- When you move a page that many editors have on their watchlist the history can be split and it might also not be possible to move it again for a while. This is because of a job queue problem. (T278350)
- Code to support some very old web browsers is being removed. This could cause issues in those browsers. (T277803)
- A community consultation on the Arbitration Committee discretionary sanctions procedure is open until April 25.

Good morning Beeblebrox. In adding my last comment to the section I sorted a couple of very minor typos in your last comment. I know this is normally considered bad form but I hope that with a courtesy note here you will not mind. I will instantly self-revert if you wish. Springnuts (talk) 08:38, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- No problem. The space bar on my laptop has been sticking a little bit. It's driving me nuts. Beeblebrox (talk) 15:15, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
Can you indef my old account?
I have an old account, Another Wiki User the 1st, and I’m wondering wether you could indef it. It’s user page is fully protected. I have no interest in using it anymore. Another Wiki User the 2nd (talk) 21:52, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not at all sure why that would be necessary or helpful, but in any event it was already done by another admin nearly a month ago. Beeblebrox (talk) 22:00, 3 April 2021 (UTC)

- No trouble at all, this is why we have admins. Beeblebrox (talk) 20:35, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
Formatting of discussion thread comments
Regarding this edit: as unsolicited advice, please feel free to ignore the following, particularly if you are aware of it already. By adding a comment starting with :*
in between two comments starting with *
, you closed a bulleted list, opened a first-level unbulleted list, and nested a second-level bulleted list item within it containing your comment. Because the following comment now has a different first-level list type than the comment you added, the two lists you created were immediately closed and a first-level bulleted list was opened for the next comment. This amounts to four additional announcements made by screen readers for the extra starting and ending of lists. Could you consider following the guidance at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Accessibility § Lists and Help:Talk pages § Indentation to help avoid extra announcements? (An essay I wrote, User:Isaacl/On wikitext list markup, also goes into a little bit more detail.) isaacl (talk) 00:35, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- I try to be cognizant of this sort of thing, but sometimes, as in this case, I can't actually tell why my comment isn't formatting the way I thought it would. My personal preference would be that all discussions that don't require numbering using # consistently used the same formatting, i.e. colons, which is a simpler system that is easily understood by all, screen reader or no. In the past people have been critical of me for not using the exact same formatting as the person before me, so I was trying to do that. I realize this situation is not of your making, but at a certain point it just feels like to many rules for something that should be simple and consistent. Beeblebrox (talk) 01:04, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- Well, as mentioned in both of those guidance pages and my essay, the nutshell advice if you're the first person to reply to a comment is to copy the prefix of the comment to which you are replying, and add the character of your choice, which for you would generally be

. If you're not the first person to reply, then copy the prefix used by the reply immediately before yours at the same nesting level. I too would prefer to reserve the use of bulleted and numbered lists only within each person's comment, so replies would only start with colons, but people like to keep doing what they're doing. Using list markup for threaded conversation isn't a great fit. Visually both in markup and displayed output it resembles the old-school visual ident style used on Usenet and text email, which is likely why it was adopted. isaacl (talk) 01:24, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Possibly stale page restriction
Hi, I was recently doing a review of all the page restrictions I've placed or taken ownership of over the years using the American Politics AE template, and I noticed that a majority of the pages were no longer battlegrounds and didn't require restrictions anymore. I was looking backwards a couple of months on the article history and talk page looking for major disputes, and for the most part things were pretty quiet. I've removed the BRD restrictions from about 70% of the articles that I had put them on, and the 1RR restrictions from probably 90% of pages.
I figured while I was at it I might as well try to track down the other pages with active sanctions and see if the admins who placed them might also be interested in doing a similar review. Here's what I found for you: Template:Editnotices/Page/List of concentration and internment camps - Talk:List of concentration and internment camps ~Awilley (talk) 01:20, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
- I've looked, and it probably can go, doesn't seem to have been invoked in a while. FYI in case you weren't aware there is a general review of DS as a whole going on right now at Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions/2021 review. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:57, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
