It should also be mentioned that it is being produced by well-known producers. I am more than sure that more articles will appear over time and I promise to add them when that happens. - Keep - adding the Stylus review and Squid's Ear review to the mix as well, I think that there is probably just enough out there to show that she meets at the least bare minimum level of notability. You could argue that she meets #7 of NMUSICIAN due to being a prominent representative of a very quirky style of music, in my opinion Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 22:17, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- Keep: Pitchfork is one of the most prominent music publications in existence (the review is somewhat early in their run, but Pitchfork fairly regularly removes old reviews they don't endorse), and Stylus was well-known while ran and employed reputable music journalists. I am less familiar with All About Jazz but its page here suggests that it appears to be considered reliable in the jazz writing field. The reviews are unambiguously in-depth and non-trivial. Thus, it passes both WP:GNG and WP:MUSICIAN criterion 1. There is also this retrospective piece (because I know someone will bring it up: one of those sites bankrolled by a brand, in this case Red Bull, but that releases actual longform music journalism that, in this case, is independent of the brand; the author, Clive Bell, is a journalist who specializes in Japanese jazz); it isn't significant coverage of the artist herself but does provide useful background of the scene she was involved in. (https://daily.redbullmusicacademy.com/2014/10/off-site-improvised-music-from-japan). There also appears to be some academic coverage (https://www.jstor.org/action/doBasicSearch?Query=%22ami+yoshida%22), and I suspect there is probably coverage in Japanese. - I wouldn't say there is a low bar for the notability of schools. It's about the same as other organizations. Especially considering the recent RFC about subject specific guidelines taking precedence over the GNG and school outcomes not being valid in AFCs anymore. --Adamant1 (talk) 03:17, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

- McCabe, Kathy (2015-05-02). "Making the grade in Lawrence". The Boston Globe. Archived from the original on 2021-02-27. Retrieved 2021-02-27.
The article notes that Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School is "modeled after Nativity and Cristo Rey (Christ the King) schools founded by Jesuit priests decades ago in major cities". The article notes that Lawrence is "one of the state's poorest cities" and Cristo Rey schools depend nearly fully on charity and companies. The article notes that Notre Dame's students are in a work-study program in which they spend five days monthly at a company. Their tuition is $12,000, and the work allows them to receive wages that pay for 60% of it, or $7,000, so they only need to pay $2,900.
The article notes "Notre Dame, located in the former St. Mary parish high school on Haverhill Street, must attract more business support to grow." It says that the work-study program makes the school $1.5 million annually. This is almost 50% of its $3.3 million yearly budget. The school has partnered with 74 companies at which its students work. Law firms, technology companies, and hospitals participate in the work-study program. The school has classes from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Volunteers help tutor students in "study halls". The school has vans that transport the students to and from work; the transportation can be 1.5 hours in one direction.

The article notes, "Notre Dame Cristo Rey (NDCR) High School began as a new school in Lawrence, starting with 80 students and totaling 270 students in 2016. It is run by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. ... In the 2015–2016 school year stu- dents at Cristo Rey Boston earned more than $2.6 million at 125 businesses and non-profit organizations. Employers pay about $34,800 per year for a team of four students, which equates to $23 per hour, according to John O’Keeffe, director of the work study program, though the program is sold both as a way for companies to get work done and an opportunity to help urban young people pay for a college preparatory educa- tion. The article notes, "When Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School was founded in 2004, its mission was to give students from low-income families in Lawrence the opportunity to receive a solid Catholic education and win acceptance at colleges and universities. Thirteen years later, Cristo Rey is batting 1.000, according to Sister Maryalyce Gilfeather, SND, PhD, the school's president and a longtime member of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur." The article notes that Anthony Zavagnin is the principal, the tuition is $7,750, and the students can "afford" that tuition by doing a "corporate work/study" job. The students work at MITRE, Raytheon, Lawrence Catholic Academy, Lawrence General Hospital, Lowell General Hospital, Ironstone Farm, New England Biolabs. The students do jobs that involve "filing, data entry coding and serving as receptionists" as well as nursing assistants. The students wears blue uniforms. Sports offered by the school include softball and basketball. The school is located at 303 Haverhill St., which housed for numerous years the all-girls school St. Mary High School, which stopped operations in 1996. The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur took over the building and established Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School in it. In 2008, the school's inaugural class of students graduated.

The article notes, "Opened in 2004, Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School is one of six schools in Massachusetts run by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. The Lawrence school, which rents its space from a local parish, is the only Notre Dame school in the country that belongs to Cristo Rey, a national network of Catholic schools that serve disadvantaged youth."

- Comment.: I've tried to reorder the comments from the IP addresses so that they are more understandable. IP address 184.170.167.137 has been blocked for repeatedly removing the AFD tag on the article in question. The comments above repeatedly mention how notable the Sagamore of the Wabash award is, but it appears that the award is routinely given to all manner of people, both notable and not. This article notes that "thousands" have been awarded, that there is no centralized roll of awardees, and that the Sachem Award is more prestigious. The "Congressional Recognition" that is mentioned appears to be no more than a minor laudatory statement that was submitted into the Congressional Record (for example, the next entry in the Congressional Record is congratulating a couple on their 50th wedding anniversary). Finally, serving on a Presidential transition team is also not inherently notable; hundreds of people serve as transition team members every time there is a Presidential transition and while their work is important, it is ultimately just temporary and preparatory staff work. In fact, only one of the Department of Transportation transition team members appears to have an article (Polly Trottenberg, and she was Commissioner of Transportation in New York City and nominated to become Deputy Secretary of Transportation. I'm very sorry these IP users (who very much appear to have a close personal connection with Mr. Rodriguez) are taking offense to this AfD, but I still believe this article fails WP:NBIO and should be deleted. - Delete - I have performed a quick source analysis and could only find two sources that came close to meeting our gold standard of significant coverage in independent, reliable sources. That said, I am not particularly familiar with sourcing for airport-related articles, so an independent second opinion on some sources would be appreciated (noted in the table). All told however, I highly doubt this person meets the general notability guideline. Simply serving on a Presidential transition team is nowhere near close to being of inherent notability - hundreds of people serve on each team. ƒirefly ( t · c ) 13:06, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

notability not established, "first registered token IPO" does not warrant notability. sources are not guaranteeing notability. - Hi there, I hope I have included enough links now to additional sources. I edit on Wiki occasionally - and noticed land conservation in Canada has very little presence on Wiki. Most land conservation is happening with the support of the Canadian & provincial governments, through Charities/NGOs who participate in the government program. Nature Conservancy of Canada is the largest and Ducks Unlimited is pretty big. You've also got the three provincial umbrella land trusts, with OLTA being probably the largest. Land conservation is by its nature "local" - you can't conserve land outside your geographic boundaries. But through OLTA, UNESCO reserves are being conserved (Niagara Escarpment), and Canada's biodiversity treaty commitments being met. I created the thumbnail page first and invited others to add content. No one else did so - so I have supplemented and linked to the member groups. I would like to ensure the Project Drawdown page links to OLTA or OLTA members as a Land Sink. Critical to the fight against Climate Change. If Wiki wants to inform readers about wilderness conservation in Canada, I don't think it can do so without pages for the land trusts and umbrella organizations. The only important criterion is principal coverage of the subject in reliable, third-party sources. Of the sources you listed, only The Hustle and Washington Morning come close, but their "About" pages and editorial policies are not encouraging. Fails WP:LISTN and WP:NOT, particularly WP:NOTINDISCRIMINATE. Mentioning most of these incidents also goes against the principle of WP:BLP1E, as noted on the talk page. Most of them are just covered by local news, which is not noteworthy. The whole theme of treating "gender reveal party accident" as a notable category - and not singling out any other kind of party - also seems rather WP:OR and WP:SOAPBOXy, even if some source mentioned one when reporting on another. - Comment: Reporting on such accidents from gender-reveal parties seems to be a years-long theme of news media. to the point that there are now articles on the general theme of such parties ending in misfortune, sometimes including their own lists (e.g., 1; 2; 3; 4; 5). Just the New York Times coverage alone is considerable: "Explosive devices used at gender-reveal events have been linked to at least two deaths since 2019 and two major wildfires" it noted this week, after asking "Are Gender Reveals Cursed?" last year, after saying, the year before that, that "a plane crash could be added to th[e] list" of gender-reveal parties that "have ended in calamity". While each singular event may not be considered notable, surely the concept of "gender-reveal parties as a general cause of accidents" is. Crossroads, you say that this "Fails WP:LISTN", but don't say why. Reading through it, it seems crystal clear that gender-reveal-party accidents have with extreme frequency been "discussed as a group or set by independent reliable sources". --Usernameunique (talk) 08:12, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

- Redirect to Doctor Who Online - I'm not positive that the site that produces this podcast is notable, itself, but just some quick searches shows that there is a far greater possibility of that than the podcast being independently notable. The website actually has some images of some of the magazine reviews being cited, and the coverage of the podcast in them is pretty slim. Redirecting to the main article on the fansite, with the potential to merge anything from the history deemed necessary, seems like the best step here. Rorshacma (talk) 16:27, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

This is an episode of the direct-to-video Vietnamese-language variety show Paris by Night. Although the overall series is notable, that does not necessarily mean that every episode is notable, and as far as I can tell the majority of episodes don't have individual articles on the English Wikipedia. This concept started from fan speculations, and the article comes off as WP:FANCRUFT that entertains a specific portion of audience. I am not sure if this deserves a standalone encyclopedic article, given that Taylor Swift has talked about this concept only once, and the rest of the article can be considered WP:SPECULATION. - Delete As per Ashley, pure WP:FANCRUFT. Hulatam (talk) 09:12, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- Keep I'm going to go against the flow here and suggest that since I managed to clean up and expand the article from the multiple, independent reliable sources already there to beyond a stub level, there is a case for improving this article and not deleting it. For the record, I don't believe I have ever heard one note of Taylor Swift's music, so the FANCRUFT accusations honestly can't be levelled at me. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:59, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- The problem is that the "Track 5" concept is made up by fans--Swift has only confirmed this concept for her most recent albums. She has not elaborated on it as part of her career overall. No indication of its significance in her discography/songs. And this is not a fan-wiki to begin with. HĐ (talk) 13:12, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- To note, even if this concept is verifiable, I earnestly think an article on this matter could constitute WP:INDISCRIMINATE. I do not believe a concept that is "a mythology she's built up with her fan base" is worth an encyclopedic entry. Even in the quote Swift said herself--she admitted she never had such a thing called "Track 5" in mind until it was started among her fans. Why an article on something so delicate that comes off as WP:FORUM or even WP:NOTGOSSIP? HĐ (talk) 13:25, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- An indiscriminate collection of information would be something more like List of Taylor Swift's shoe collection. I think the real test (and something I touch on in User:Ritchie333/Plain and simple guide to A7) is "can a neutral bystander improve the article", and the fact that I, very much a non-fan, have done so suggests that we can. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:30, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- Merge into Taylor Swift. I think the concept is worthy of mention given that it has garnered independent coverage, but I don't think it deserves its own article (yet). It could be merged into the 'Songwriting' section, or perhaps get its own. ƒirefly ( t · c ) 13:28, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

- Merging it to Taylor Swift#Songwriting can be a good idea. This section details how Swift writes her songs and does mention specific themes/topics associated with each album. I cannot guarantee if everything should be retained, however. HĐ (talk) 13:53, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

This article concerns a grandchild of Franklin Delano Roosevelt who was a psychologist at Sarah Lawrence until recently. The article relies on essentially four sources: (1) bio pages at Sarah Lawrence, (2) a page from the FDR Presidential Library identifying her as one of his many descendants, (3) a directory of academics, and (4) a brief mention in an NYT obituary for her husband. IMHO, this does not qualify as significant media coverage given that, aside from the Sarah Lawrence pages, none of the other sources discuss her in any meaningful capacity. Likewise, BEFORE searches did not return any meaningful results.
So, I'm nominating this because I do not believe it passes WP:GNG or WP:NACADEMIC. If others can find sources meeting those criteria, I'm happy to withdraw the nomination. DocFreeman24 (talk) 00:05, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

- Keep: WP:NACADEMIC #5 pass by virtue of holding a named chair at a major institution (Roy E Larsen Chair of Psychology at Sarah Lawrence). Directing a large university center on education for twenty years and earning tons of awards for her research about teaching, both from her institution and externally, gives her a strong argument for NACADEMIC #7 also, and some of her awards could be passes of #2. And her books are widely reviewed; there is an WP:NEXIST pass of GNG here. - Astrophobe (talk) 03:59, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

- Propose deleting Category:Welsh-speaking academics ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Nominator's rationale: WP:NONDEFINING WP:OCTRIVIA Academics are not usually categorized by the languages they speak; indeed the norm in Category:People by language and occupation is to classify occupations utilizing the language itself, such as grammarians, lexicographers, singers, translators, and writers. This seems to be the only "-speaking academics" among the occupations.
- Moreover, the headnote states:
- This category includes academics who speak the Welsh language, regardless of whether they lecture or write in the Welsh language.
- Thus it has become a catch-all for Welsh-speakers who would not otherwise be categorized under occupation. Wikipedia:Categorization of people#By nationality and occupation, not a language that is incidental to the occupation.

- Oppose. Common sense dictates that the reader wants this information. I agree with what Deb says. Also: 80 lecturers at the Coleg Cymraeg teach only through the medium of Welsh. - The Islands regional unit is one of the most preposterous Greek administrative divisions. It was fine having it as a supercategory of other, more specific, ones, but it shouldn't have direct articles as members. You could say it's a "gerrymandering" type of division. There is no real geographic, cultural, or historical connection between these areas. I can't think of a good alternative merge right now, but I think it would be better to finish with the mainland categories before dealing with the Greek islands, which require a different approach anyway. --Antondimak (talk) 10:38, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- This is a weird administrative division indeed. For sure the first nominated category can be merged without any issues, since it is a container category. I could imagine an alternative merge of Category:People from Methana to Category:People from Troizinia-Methana and Category:People from Troezen to Category:People from Troizinia-Methana, so we leave one 3rd-level administrative alone because it is the only mainland part of this regional unit. Marcocapelle (talk) 13:03, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

- Propose merging Category:People from Neapoli, Kozani to Category:People from Kozani (regional unit)
- Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:SMALLCAT, this concerns categorization by 3rd and 4th level administrative divisions of Greece, leading to a endless series of single-article or 2-article categories. The proposal is to merge to 2nd level administrative division, except cities and larger towns, in this case except Kozani (43,000 people), Ptolemaida (32,000 people), Siatista (5,500 people), Servia, Greece (3,500 people) and Vlasti (meanwhile depopulated). The nomination does include people from Askio, Kozani, this is not a populated place but a handful of villages in the Askio mountain range and its eponymous 4th level administrative division. This is follow-up on this earlier nomination. Marcocapelle (talk) 09:05, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- People from Askio consists of people from Galatini and Eratyra, two communities in the same municipal unit which are a mere 3km apart. Independent communities with thousands of residents each, which were 30km apart, were considered to be the same settlement when all the areas of wider Athens were merged.
- When it comes to Eordaia, there is also Category:Ancient Eordaeans. I think it's useful to group modern Eordeans together with the ancient ones, and not have the settlements of modern Eordaia be scattered accross Category:People from Kozani (regional unit) as sister categories to "Ancient Eordaians".
- In Kozani (municipality) we similarly have Category:Ancient Elimiotes, where the situation is similar. --Antondimak (talk) 10:34, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- Distance in km is an irrelevant criterion. Athens is by far the most populous city in Greece so obviously distances are bigger as well. Marcocapelle (talk) 14:12, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- I am open to an alternative upmerge proposal of Category:Ancient Eordaeans to Category:Upper Macedonians and Category:People from Eordaia in order to keep the latter. But honestly when reading the articles it is not always clear that they were from Eordaia at all. Marcocapelle (talk) 14:12, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- I don't quite understand what you mean. Are you saying it's not clear in the articles in "Ancient Eordaians" that the people they refer to were from Eordaia?

- Propose merging Category:People from Oinountas to Category:People from Laconia
- Propose merging Category:People from Pellana to Category:People from Laconia
- Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:SMALLCAT, this concerns categorization by 3rd and 4th level administrative divisions of Greece, leading to a endless series of single-article or 2-article categories. The proposal is to merge to 2nd level administrative division, except cities and larger towns, in this case Sparta, Peloponnese (17,000 people, ancient city). The nomination includes East Mani with 9 articles, since East Mani is not a populated place but a collection of different villages. This is follow-up on this earlier nomination. Marcocapelle (talk) 09:05, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- Keep East Mani East Mani has existed since before I started working on the categories. The area is culturally significant, as any other Greek discussant could confirm (see also Maniots). Mani in general has its own culture, which is significantly distinct from the rest of the Peloponnese, and its own dialect, which is more similar to that of Crete (it was even closer to the old dialect of Athens, before it went extinct due to it being made the capital) than the rest of Laconia. Despite the East/West distinction being significant in Mani, East Mani is also part of Laconia, while Mani as a whole is divided between Laconia and Messenia. Therefore it makes sense for it to be a subcategory of "People from Laconia". --Antondimak (talk) 10:12, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- We already have a Category:Maniots parented to both Category:People from Laconia and Category:People from Messenia so the ethnicity is well-covered. Marcocapelle (talk) 14:35, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- We would then need to upmerge to "Maniots" and include this category in both Laconia and Messenia (which would be inaccurate). This category is for the Maniots from Laconia, and "West Mani" is for those from Messenia, so they should probably be kept (apart from the cultural distinctions between East and West Mani being significant anyway). --Antondimak (talk) 18:14, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- You accidentally included Molaoi in the list, despite it having 5 articles and you not tagging it for merging (similar to what happened with Karditsa). --Antondimak (talk) 10:15, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you, I stroke it. Marcocapelle (talk) 14:35, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

- Propose deleting Category:Australian rules footballers' wives and girlfriends ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Nominator's rationale: Weird mix of lesbian footballers married to other footballers, sportspeople married to (some very low profile) footballers and only 1 or 2 women who fit the English celebrity stereotype of a WAG. Use wikidata to find spousal connections if you need to. Not this cat. Poorly defined qualifications, no parent article exists, not even a mention in WAGs#Other sports. - Keep Nominators very first line is homophobic, sexist and offensive in my opinion. Should not be tolerated on Wiki. Category was created as a subcategory of Category:Footballers' wives and girlfriends ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs). How is that a category allowed and this not ? Needs to be some consistency. Plus your main object seems to be that the WAGs are more famous then their partners. Djln Djln (talk) 15:52, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- No, they're saying the category is not a defining characteristic, because it has a mix of many different sets of unrelated people. Nothing homophobic at all about that. The "weird mix" comment clearly refers to the rest of the comment i.e. it doesn't use the standard definition of WAGs. Joseph2302 (talk) 18:09, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
Category:Perpetual travellers
- Propose Deleting Category:Perpetual travellers
- Nominator's rationale: Per WP:BLPCAT
- A Perpetual traveler (PT) is a term for someone who intentionally lives in multiple countries. The category only has two articles, none of which mention this term, but there is certainly expansion potential. The problem here is that this term has strong connotations of borderline legal tax avoidance schemes. Indeed, "Prior taxpayer" is an alternate name for the concept. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:32, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- Delete per nom. No objection against the category per se, but articles in here should contain adequate sourcing to qualify as a perpetual traveler. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:01, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
Category:Stroke survivors
- Propose Deleting Category:Stroke survivors
- Nominator's rationale: Per WP:NONDEFINING (WP:TRIVIALCAT and maybe WP:PERFCAT)
- We have a category for Category:Deaths from stroke so this is for people that survived strokes. There are 300+ articles in the category which generally mention having a stroke later in their lives. That could be just the beginning though: according to the main article strokes are the 2nd leading reason for death globally and about 17 million survive them per year. During the course of lifetime, people will have multiple non-fatal health issues and this seems too common to be defining. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:32, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

- Oppose - I think these two templates should be separate as they are widely used for two different things. "In-use" means that you are strictly editing the article, and want nobody else editing it. Under construction to me is seen as a rest period tag to inform editors that the article may not look right at the moment. I appreciate your suggestion but I do not think it will he a net positive. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 17:57, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

This template is a confusing addition that is mostly redundant thanks to {{Star Wars}}. It has an arbitrary collection of Star Wars media while the main template already lists them all anyway. The major difference is the list of character articles from these "spinoffs", but since a lot of the projects don't actually have much to do with one another this is just a random collection of characters from different films and TV series. The need for a template for an interconnected group of spinoffs will also already be covered by {{The Mandalorian}} since that will cover all of the spinoffs that directly relate to that series. So I don't see any need to keep this one. adamstom97 (talk) 07:29, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

James Merry (actor)
- James Merry (actor) (talk||history|logs|links|watch) (XfD|restore)
I created this page back in 2010 when he was a character in British soap opera Doctors. I have updated sporadically and now find it deleted. The deletion discussion suggested this actor appeared in YouTube shows, when in fact he is on the BBC every day in Waffle The Wonder Dog. He has also appeared in several other TV shows. Can I request this page is reinstated please?
Here are references for his career:

SmokeyJoe Can you advise what is a suitable source please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Frankcable (talk • contribs) 14:27, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- Endorse, at least for now. I sympathise with the original poster here - that AfD wasn't well attended and looks like one of our run of the mill deletion discussions, and had they participated may have run closer to a no consensus especially given the poor rationale of one of the votes (the Youtube one.) However, given the sources above this isn't a slam dunk restore by any means - the community has determined IMDB isn't reliable for notability purposes, and none of the other sources are secondary sources, i.e. unrelated to the actor or the shows they appear in. Therefore I'll reluctantly endorse, but if other, better, secondary sources are found, I'd be happy to overturn and relist so they can be presented and discussed. Discussion with closing admin
|
---|
Hi Sandstein. Would you modify your close of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Squad (app) from "delete" to "redirect to List of mergers and acquisitions by Twitter#Squad" with the history preserved under the redirect? This is needed to comply with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia since I had merged the article's content to the list. Thanks, Cunard (talk) 11:29, 27 February 2021 (UTC) |
During Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Squad (app), I had merged the content in Squad (app) to List of mergers and acquisitions by Twitter#Squad. Sandstein, the closing admin, deleted the article and has refused to restore the article's history, which is needed per Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
The closing admin wrote, "no, because otherwise anybody could prevent the deletion of content by merging it somewhere during an AfD. We routinely delete articles even though content from them might have been merged to other articles". The deletion does not comply with Wikipedia:Deletion policy#Alternatives to deletion. I merged the content to List of mergers and acquisitions by Twitter#Squad since I believed it would improve that article by providing readers background information about Squad, a company acquired by Twitter. The Squad (app) article did not contain copyright violations or BLP violations so there was no need to delete the article's history.
I ask the community to restore the article's history under a redirect to List of mergers and acquisitions by Twitter#Squad. Cunard (talk) 11:43, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- I recommend declining this request.
- It is an abuse of the deletion review process, which DRV should not protect. Cunard made the merger while the AfD was ongoing and about to be closed as "delete". They sought to prevent that foreseeable consensus outcome, which they do not contest, by merging part of the article elsewhere and now invoking attribution policy. But that policy was not intended to allow individual editors to prevent the community from deleting content by consensus. Because all editors must abide by consensus, individual editors cannot stymie it by invoking unrelated policies.
- Moreover, because Cunard does not contest that there was consensus to delete this article, a solution other than undeletion should be found that complies with both the AfD consensus and attribution policy. That solution is to undo the merger, which I have now done, and possibly also to revision-delete that content. It was in any case an ill-considered merger, because it inserted a footnote with article content into what was otherwise a plain list. This is also an indication that it was done merely to prevent a "delete" closure of the AfD rather than with an intent to improve the target article. Sandstein 12:53, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- Relist, specifically asking for discussion of the smerge option done by Cunard. The AfD nominator failed BEFORE, failed to note the possible merge option and explain why it was not suitable. This failure invalidates the consensus to delete. The obvious merge option has to be mentioned, and discussion allowed. Relist for a min8mum seven days. —SmokeyJoe (talk) 14:26, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- Why's it needful to relist, though? That's using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Clearly, the content should be deleted, because of the consensus to delete it; clearly, there should be a listing at the list of mergers and acquisitions by Twitter, because the app was acquired by Twitter. What's at issue is a technicality relating to the reuse of text in the light of WP:CWW. What we should do is restore Cunard's edit to the list of mergers and acquisitions by Twitter but remove the footnote he put in with that edit. (None of the other entries have footnotes.) The remaining text without the footnote doesn't meet the threshold of originality, so it doesn't create a CWW issue. By this means the consensus is implemented, the encyclopaedic information is preserved, and the process is correctly followed, without any further investment of editor time and attention on attribution technicalities, and I heartily recommend that this is what we do.—S Marshall T/C 14:51, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- Relist or userfy Preserving attribution is a legal duty which needs proper consideration and it didn't get it in this case. Redirects are cheap but Sandstein seems to have an obdurate attachment to hard deletion as they stated baldly that "I do not undelete articles, when I asked them politely to userfy in another case. Their personal bias makes them involved and so they should recuse from such cases. Andrew🐉(talk) 15:48, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- Endorse the deletion. This really isn't a deletion issue - there's a clear consensus the information should be deleted, and the merge attribution issue doesn't change that. WP:RUD appears relevant here - the merge is fine, as long as it's properly attributed. Furthermore, the information appears to have been merged into a list/table even though none of the other elements of the list contain any sort of prose, so there's a possible discussion to be had about content, but that's not for DRV. Friday Night Funkin'
- Friday Night Funkin' (talk||history|logs|links|watch) (XfD|restore)
This article has been deleted twice as a result of an AfD from December, but the topic has gathered attention surprisingly rapidly since then and I believe that it may now meet WP:GNG.
Sources:
Multiple in-depth articles/reviews in multiple gaming news outlets would appear to satisfy GNG. Given the popularity of the game on social media, I imagine the dead article title is probably getting hits, so it should be restored if notability allows. BlackholeWA (talk) 07:06, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- allow recreation It does seem to me there has been sufficient new coverage since the afd that the page could be recreated (that’s not to guarantee it’s notable, but that the situation has changed to render the Afds consensus, for lack of a better word, obsolete). The article itself was completely unsourced and fancrufty, so I see no value in restoring it. Eddie891 Talk Work 11:58, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- Undelete straight to mainspace. It was in development, and deletions reasons cited “TOOSOON”. It should have been draftified, not deleted. It now seems to be released, and there is a flurry of sources. —SmokeyJoe (talk) 14:34, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- Allow recreation, though if the article gets sent back to AfD, I'd note this discussion does not preclude it from being deleted again. I'm also against moving it directly back to mainspace due to the potential copyright issue noted in the final delete comment - if an admin reviews this and determines it's not an issue, then I'm content with a direct restore.
