Template:Stammbaum
Hi,
I understand why you have reverted my edit to Template:Stammbaum, and closed the discussion at TFD as wrong venue. What is the right venue?
The issue is that currently Stammbaum redirects to Template:Family tree which has been deprecated and is being merged with Template:Tree chart. While the syntax of the two is similar, they are not the same. See: Template:Tree chart#Migration from familytree
Having compared Template:Family tree and de:Vorlage:Stammbaum documentation, Family tree is not a direct equivalent of Stammbaum, which means anyone doing an import of a German tree will have to check that it works and if necessary edit it to work with Family tree.
My conclusion is that at some point Stammbaum could redirect to Template:Family tree. If this is going to happen, I'd suggest the sooner it is done the better.

Cleaning up ANI mess
Hi Pppery! I noticed you started trying to undo some of the damage caused by the massively blunt rollback of my edits at the ANI thread. I'm not too familiar with how mass rollbacks and un-rollbacks work, but if fixing things up would make it harder to un-rollback, it might be better to hold off. I'm hoping that the mass rollback will be quickly reversed now that the folks there have some context from myself and the VPR closing admin, and it'll be easier to do that in one fell swoop than to try to take everything on piecemeal. Cheers, {{u|Sdkb}} talk 20:03, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
- It's too late to "hold off"; I already finished reverting the edits it was clear to me needed reverting (I was being deliberately rather cautious). * Pppery * it has begun... 20:08, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
- It was also too late for a clean batch un-rollback even before my edits, given that Andrybak also engaged in piecemeal reverting. * Pppery * it has begun... 20:10, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
- Ack, this is a mess; I wish I had seen the thread before it was prematurely closed. I see that there is a request at JzG's talk page to undo the rollback, and hopefully he'll take responsibility for carrying that out. I'll let you know if I spot anything really urgently broken, since I don't think I should be making any template edits directly while the ANI thread is active. Possible Template Issue
Hi,
I am wondering if you can pull the template for DRN and see if there were any changes to it? To me, it appears OK, so it may be a BOT thing that I have asked them to give it a swift kick or life support. The bot should be taking what we put in the template and updating our table that we monitor. It looks like it stopped working some time ago and the owner of the bot seems to have vanished. Would I be able to get a copy of all the template changes so I can hopefully determine when this may have happened, please?
- Everything else in the table gets updated correctly except case status (hence why I am wondering if it is a template issue).
- We leave {{DR case status=}} empty until we the discussion has met the point we can open it. Then we change it to "resolved", "failed", or "closed" of which then the bot is supposed to change the table shown at Template:DRN_case_status
- I am also wondering why the 'hide' is located in that same cell. Maybe this is causing it not to update?
- I can go into the template and manually enter the numeral equivalent for the color and it works fine (I removed those edits)
- I just tried one more thing, but I need for the bot to run. In the actual DR instead of a status word, such as open, I put in the numeral 2 at the s= in the row when editing the template as a whole. *Update - This did not work, the code was still there, however, it was still reflected as new so I went back into the template and put the number corresponding to the color to it. --Galendalia CVU Member \ Chat Me Up 10:33, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

- @Galendalia: I don't exactly understand why I was asked about this, but nevertheless I've taken a quick look at this and observed that * Pppery * it has begun... 13:52, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
- The bot appears to have stopped correctly detecting the status at 17:07, 21 October 2019
- The only edit to DRN between the last successful bot edit and the first failed one was Special:Diff/922389728, which does not appear to botch the formatting at all.
- DRN had no cases at all for a few days in November 2019, and, when the first case came to break that slump and was put on hold, the bot still failed to detect it as new, ruling out the possibility that Special:Diff/922389728 broke the formatting in some way.
- Looking at the bot's source code, which is publicly available here, it defaults to "New" without reporting the error in any way if it encounters an error calculating the status.
- The above four things strongly imply that no one other than Hasteur can fix the bot.
- Your manual fix could not have possibly done anything, since the bot entirely overwrites the table with each edit.
- It looks like it's possible to write a Lua module to reimplement the task of extracting the status from the page, and use it, instead of the passed status parameter, in Template:DRN case status/row. I'll probably get around to coding that later today
- And coded, see Template:DRN case status/sandbox, which has exactly the same wikitext as Template:DRN case status, except for calling Template:DRN case status/row/sandbox instead of Template:DRN case status/row, and nevertheless produces the correct status colors. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:16, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hi. I asked you because I see you online a lot and you are also a template editor so I had wanted your input to see if it was broken, which is not as you pointed out (thank you for that). I will have to see about having the bot updated somehow as the programmer is no longer active from what I see in their logs. I had a thought but since the bot would overwrite the template I don't think it will work. I was thinking if we used your template, when the bot updates everything else if your template would color code it.Thank you for your input, Galendalia CVU Member \ Chat Me Up 17:07, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

XFDCloser's "quickdelete" functionality on TfDs seems to put templates into holding rather than tag them for deletion. Opting out of AfroCine notifications
Hey there. Would you please be able to opt me out of AfroCine talk page notifications? I'm asking because I see you have been removing users from the list on Meta, but when I tried to remove myself from the list by editing the page, it was disallowed due to a filter that called it "spam", which is ridiculous. I'm not sure why—maybe because I have (next to) no edits on Meta? I find it strange that the talk page messages from AfroCine have a note saying "You can opt-out of this annual reminder from The Afrocine Project by removing your username from this list", but when one tries—or at least when I tried—to do so, they are disallowed. Is there any way to turn off this filter for users who may not have (m)any edits on Meta having their edits filtered when they try to remove themselves from the list? Module:Location map/data/Gilgit Baltistan/doc
Hello, Pppery,
I'm not sure why you want Module:Location_map/data/Gilgit-Baltistan/doc to be moved to replace the current page when it looks like it is full of error messages, at least with the scripts I have installed. It looks like the current page at this location is superior. Liz Read! Talk! 22:53, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Liz: The current page at that title is a transclusion of Module:Location map/data/Gilgit Baltistan/doc. What happened here is that Module:Location map/data/Gilgit Baltistan was moved to Module:Location map/data/Gilgit-Baltistan, including its doc page. The move of the module did not leave a redirect (since modules can't be redirects), but the move of the doc page did. I then tagged the leftover redirect for deletion as G8 (since it was documenting nothing), but before that deletion request could be actioned, the move was reverted (not moving the doc page because my deletion-tagged redirect was in the way). The reason that Module:Location_map/data/Gilgit-Baltistan/doc is erroring is that Module:Location_map/data/Gilgit-Baltistan doesn't exist, and the errors will disappear if you move the page to the correct title. The reason that the page currently there works is that it is a transclusion of the page I want moved there. * Pppery * it has begun... 02:12, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

Need help with Module:Archive index on bnwiki
Hi, i recently imported Module:Archive index on bnwiki. It works but not fully. Problem is, on bnwiki we use Bengali numeral but i think module looks for English numeral. So, instead of /সংগ্রহশালা ১ module looks for /সংগ্রহশালা 1 . Could you please tell me in which line(s) module looks for this, so i can use something like this to convert en to bn digit. A quick note
Hi Pppery, I noticed that you recreated Idea (philosophy) while I was in the middle of a round-robin page swap. I suppressed the redirect so I could move the holding page Draft:Move/Idea (philosophy) back to Idea (philosophy) and preserve the page history. Just wanted to leave a quick note to make sure there isn't any confusion. – Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 16:15, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
- Apologies, didn't realize you were still working when I saw the redlink at VPT. At least it didn't cause any harm since page movers can move pages over single-revision redirects to any target. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:24, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
- No worries. It took me a while to complete the page swap because I mistakenly moved the subpages of Idea when beginning the swap and I needed to revert some of my own moves. 🤦 I was granted page mover rights fairly recently and am still getting used to the tools. Everything should be in order now though. – Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 16:44, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
Tagging pages for deletion
Hello, Pppery,
I just deleted some templates you tagged for speedy deletion. In the future, when you tag a page for deletion (CSD, PROD, AFD/CFD/TFD/etc.), could you post a notice on the talk page of the page creator so they are aware that their page was deleted? Since they don't have access to their deleted contributions, they otherwise may not know that the deletion even happened.
If you utilize Twinkle, and set up your Preferences to "Notify page creator" , the program will post this notice for you any time you tag a page. This makes things very easy. Thank you for all of the work you do! Liz Read! Talk! 21:59, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- Good point. I generally prefer to make edits manually rather than using scripts, but you're right I should be more consistent about notifying the creator. * Pppery * it has begun... 22:03, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Nonexistent Template
I made a error proposing the deletion/merge of a non-existent template titled The Super League, while what I wanted was make a proposal for the merge of an article into another. So I have removed the entry from the proposal. I have since made the correct proposal of the article, as well as a proposal for a speedy deletion of the mistakenly-generated "destination" template (which now exists but didn't exist until I made the proposal). --Loginnigol (talk) 18:11, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
Thank You
I really appreciate you jumping my template request up the queue and actioning it for me. NZFC(talk)(cont) 20:44, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
Closure templates
Ok so that one made me chuckle. Clearly I've closed a lot of CfDs over the years lol
Thank you very much for catching those : ) - jc37 02:06, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
A cookie for you!
Just wanted to say thanks a lot for your help as an awesome Wikipedian in general! Your contributions definitely don't go unnoticed. |
South Georgia (island)
Thanks for catching that hatnote at South Georgia (island). I actually had the article watchlisted when it was added, but somehow missed it. GA-RT-22 (talk) 02:06, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
AFC redirects and categories
Can you create some of the requested redirrects and categories per WP:AFC/R? 2601:584:180:3D80:5DA1:C495:3AB4:56C1 (talk) 19:26, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
Hey, can you help me?
Hi Pppery, I met you at Village pump (technical) and then saw a template you put up on some Media wiki election software. So I came here directly for your help. Actually you must've known through all those help-seeking I did at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical) that I was working on creating some templates. These templates were made to be used for recording results of rank-choice voting systems, they are Template:Election box roundwise rank choice begin, Template:Election box roundwise rank choice candidate & Template:Election box roundwise rank choice end. Now, that it has become pretty complicated, and a documentation will be very much required, I need to use some examples over there. So I came up with an idea to hold an election (as per guidelines of WP:FUN) among fellow editors to give them a small break by asking them to rank their favourite fruit, or maybe comic superheroes or something like that, results of which could be used to make the documentation. But I don't know if any of the existing Media wiki softwares can help me in it? Or if using external softwares is acceptable? Can you please help me? Thanks. Cheers! - I'm not sure what
[I] saw a template you put up on some Media wiki election software
is referring to, and have no particular interest in this subject matter, so I'd recomment asking someone else or posting this at some more central noticeboard. * Pppery * it has begun... 23:20, 14 May 2021 (UTC)- Well, I was referring to the template you had put here mw:Extension:BucketVoting more than a year ago. But I'm not really sure, where to ask. This, I believe, doesn't belong to any Village pump page out there. Thanks. CX Zoom (talk) 00:19, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
- Oh, yes, a few months ago I marked a bunch of extensions on MediaWiki.org that were clearly not maintained as unmaintained. That doesn't mean I'm interested in the subject in other contexts. I'm not sure either what the best place for this is, but my talk page clearly isn't it. * Pppery * it has begun... 00:22, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Close of move request
Regarding Template_talk:Box_Drawings_Light_Vertical#Requested_move_19_April_2021 ... you marked this as a non-admin close, but I am an admin. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 18:39, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- I know you are an admin; the non-admin closure template indicates I'm not one. * Pppery * it has begun... 18:42, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- but ... I closed and not you. Curious about your thinking in this matter. Thanks. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 01:24, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
- The non-admin closure template is immediately followed by signature, which makes it clearly (in my opinion) reference me. I don't feel strongly about this matter, and would be fine with you removing the template, or even reverting my closure entirely and re-closing it with your own signature. * Pppery * it has begun... 01:30, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Federazione Italiana Canottaggio (Italian Rowing Federation)
Is it possible to create a {{sports links}} of the athletes referred to in this federation? --Kasper2006 (talk) 16:43, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
- Almost anything is theoretically possible, but I have no interest in this particular subject (my edit to {{sports links}} was solely technical gnoming), and thus would recommend asking someone else. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:45, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Question about template nomination with cross venue notification
If I'm not mistaken you once nominated a template in RfD (or one of the other venues) and then did a cross nomination notification on TfD. Do you remember what template you used for that? Gonnym (talk) 14:34, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- If you are talking about Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2019 June 26#Template:BOTREQ and Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2019 May 26#Substitution of_Template:Smiley, then I just used standard TfD boilerplate and then the
#section-h
parser function to transclude the discussion from elsewhere (which I believe I typed manually without substing anything). I have no recollection of starting any other discussion listed at multiple XfD venues. * Pppery * it has begun... 14:39, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
MusiCCbrainz, not MusiKKbrains please!
Hi Pppery, thanks for changing the AC template. However, all links to MusicBrainz are written with a K instead of a C. Can you change this? Thanks! Fram (talk) 18:32, 7 June 2021 (UTC)

User:Jimbo Wales Revision 1023984146
Hi Pppery, I noticed you reverted my edit 1023984146 on Jun 6 with the reason of "See Special:AbuseFilter/803". My original edit was primarily made to remove information about Jimbo's page not being semi-protected, which it's not right now, so could you please explain your reasoning why? Thanks, InvadingInvader (talk) 10:24, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
- The page is, functionally, semi-protected, because any edit by a non-autoconfirmed user will be disallowed by the edit filter I linked to. * Pppery * it has begun... 12:43, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
- OK thanks for clarifying. I'll add a padlock for clarification.InvadingInvader (talk) 13:40, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
- Never mind the padlock...not working. Probably something with perms... InvadingInvader (talk) 13:54, 8 June 2021 (UTC)

It's there! RFPP is there!
Hey Pppery, there are two module-related checkboxes at WT:RFPP that now need your attention. Thank you very much for all the work already invested into this, and in advance for this last fix! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:33, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
- OK, I've done the one that only required template editor access, and coded the other one in the sandbox. * Pppery * it has begun... 19:13, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you very much! :) The heading level (currently 2) should probably be changed to 3 for the RFPP subpage. I'm not sure if this is easy to implement, and there is no hurry. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:28, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
A barnstar for you!
