Disambiguation link notification for July 19
Hi. When you recently edited Write the Future, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Back To The Start (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Replaceable fair use File:Hans Karlsson.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Hans Karlsson.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 06:43, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
User:GeeJo/Draft
I found a link to this in one of the TFAR talk page archives. Wow, what a lot of work went into it! (I speak with a little knowledge on the subject, having done something similar at User:Bencherlite/TFA notepad for my own purposes as a new TFA delegate). Anyway, I hope you don't mind, but I went through your page and took out the articles that had appeared on the main page / been demoted at FAR since you last edited it. I've added a link to your page for my own benefit at my notepad page, and I'm sure I'll consult it regularly when I'm trying to work out what articles to schedule as TFAs. Thanks for your efforts. Regards, and best wishes. BencherliteTalk 23:54, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

I'm thinking of nominating The Life (advertisement) for GA status. I just thought I'd let you know first as you are the one who has done the vast majority of the work on it. Cheers, James086Talk 16:23, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

The Wikipedia Library now offering accounts from Cochrane Collaboration (sign up!)
Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization consisting of over 28,000 volunteers in more than 100 countries. The collaboration was formed to organize medical scholarship in a systematic way in the interests of evidence-based research: the group conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.
Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account. Thank you Cochrane!
If you are stil active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)
WP:FOUR RFC
There are two WP:RFCs at WP:FOUR. The first is to conflate issues so as to keep people from expressing meaningful opinions. The second, by me, is claimed to be less than neutral by proponents of the first. Please look at the second one, which I think is much better.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 06:33, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
Notification of automated file description generation
Your upload of File:ArbCom MTG Card.png or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.
This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Magic: The Gathering parody cards
Where'd you go to make your Wikipedia Magic cards? I've got a few ideas, but anywhere I find doesn't let me put in an expansion symbol. (I prefer to keep all discussions on one page, so please respond here) (I'll be off-wiki from Tuesday afternoon til Saturday sometime, so it might take a while before I respond) Supernerd11 :D Firemind ^_^ Pokedex 02:27, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- Man, I made those nearly a decade (and three computers) ago now. I honestly have no idea what I used, except that it was on the first page of results of whatever search engine I was using back then. I do recall that I added in the expansion symbol to the finished product using Photoshop, but that's about it. I'm honestly surprised that five of the six of them are still up and about.
- Looking back, Arbitration Committee definitely needs a massive rewording. "Skip a turn"? seriously? End the turn (activate only when you could cast a sorcery) would work, though that's not much of a drawback, since you can use it post-combat. Skip your next turn would work too, though I can't imagine a situation that would ever, ever be improved by using that card. Ah, and it needs to specify that the spells are cast 'without needing to pay their mana cost', too. Wheel War is pretty parasitic, I'd probably let it apply to all creatures. The rest aren't bad, though Collaboration of the Week should be a darned-sight cheaper for its effect. GG would probably do it. GeeJo (t)⁄(c) • 13:44, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- Maybe "Skip your next combat phase"? I was thinking of, among other things, a Legendary Land for each WMF project, a Cluebot creature with the Evolve mechanic, and a massive cycle of the various WikiFauna with corresponding effects. When I get back, I'll see about making some (minus the Wikipedia expansion symbol since I don't have GIMP or Photoshop or anything like that), would you mind if I added them to the existing gallery? Supernerd11 :D Firemind ^_^ Pokedex 14:33, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- Sure, no worries. You know that GIMP is free (and relatively easy) to use, though, right? GeeJo (t)⁄(c) • 15:00, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- Yep, and I'm quite fond of it! Unfortunately, my home computer died and the school doesn't like us downloading stuff, so I'm up a creek without a paddle in that respect. Supernerd11 :D Firemind ^_^ Pokedex 15:05, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Extended confirmed protection
Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
Hello,
Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers
Hi GeeJo.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)
ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.
Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.
We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.
For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:03, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
