I've written an article about The Wharf and I tried to keep the article similar to articles about other attractions around the country, such as Navy Pier, Fisherman's Wharf, etc. Since I've declaired COI as a paid editor, I wanted to seek your feedback on the draft and it's tone. Any feedback or support you could provide will be appreciated. You can find the draft at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:The_Wharf_(Washington,_D.C.). Thanks for the help. SBCornelius (talk) 15:14, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
- I'll try to take a look at it when I'm doing with my current project, thanks. APK whisper in my ear 20:01, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
- @SBCornelius: I copy edited the intro. Please take a look at how I formatted the references and try to do that for the remainder of the article. You'll probably be reusing some of the references cited in the lede. If so, just add for example <ref name=wtop1/> if that's the case. (minus the nowiki markup I've added here) Check out WP:CITE for additional info. APK whisper in my ear 20:06, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
Washington, Virginia, edits by NYTTEND on 8 March 2020
Dear APK. Thank you for notifying me that NYTTEND has not been active for a few months. If you read my message to him, you can understand how disturbed I am that NYTTEND deleted an article I wrote about Washington, Virginia. I suppose I should wait for NYTTEND to respond to me. But if he/she doesn't, what do you suggest I do? The present version of the Wikipedia page on Washington, Virginia, is unreferenced, inaccurate, and incomplete.Harriswoodville (talk) 20:31, 14 October 2020 (UTC)
- Nyttend is a good, long-term Wikipedian and nothing he does is out of malice. I'm not sure why the changes were made other than Nyttend saying it read as promotional. If there is promotional language, then it seems to be minor. I've reverted to your version. I need to go through and look at any helpful edits that were made in the last few months. I'm busy today so give me some time. APK whisper in my ear 20:42, 14 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Harriswoodville: I noticed you removed the demographics section. It was using 2000 Census info so yes, that's very outdated, but articles on US populated places should include some type of stats on its residents. See if you can find the info from the 2010 census. APK whisper in my ear 20:46, 14 October 2020 (UTC)
- I added links to Wikipedia articles in the intro. Please go through the article and do the same for the first mention of these topics, like I did here. APK whisper in my ear 20:51, 14 October 2020 (UTC)
- I am so very grateful to you for restoring my original article. I am a new creator of Wikipedia pages, and it took me HOURS to create the Washington, Virginia, article that NYTTEND deleted. With regard to population statistics, the town has a population of only about 125 people, which is shown in the boxed information on the right of the first page (2010 data and 2018 estimates). A statistician has told me that it would be statistically inappropriate to break this small number into subcategories, particularly since the population is only an estimate to begin with. As you suggest, I will go though the article and add links to Wikipedia articles. Again, many thanks.Harriswoodville (talk) 20:32, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

I just saw your additions to Grant Road Historic District. Very nice job. I just moved out of the neighborhood and have thought for a while that that article deserves better. Going back a while, I referenced a number of the articles you expanded, particularly Dupont Circle Fountain, when writing my first GA, Peter Muhlenberg Memorial. Currently working on some articles about 20th century Maine newspaper publishers, but one of these days, I'm gonna get Tenley Campus up to GA status! Cheers! WINC/Winchester, VA
Hey APK, how have you been? Hope you are doing well during this crazy time. :) Not sure if you are still snapping pictures and what not, but I was hoping you could help me take one more set (at least a couple, not a set) of pictures of the WINC studios in Winchester before they are sold off. Unfortunately, the owners are about to sell off the building, which means this is the last chance to get the pictures (as this could happen at any time, just learned this today). So, I'm hoping you could help. Just a heads up, we are having the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival (no parades) over the weekend, so if you think about doing this weekend, just be weary of traffic and annoying people in Downtown Winchester. :D
WINC's address is still 520 North Pleasant Valley Road in Winchester if you are GPS'ing it. Much appreciated. :D Since you are taking a special trip, let me know if you need something for gas (ie: Venmo, PayPal, whatever). - Neutralhomer • Talk • 01:21 on May 1, 2021 (UTC)
- @Neutralhomer: Howdy, I'm back to my semi-retired status on here. Maybe I'll start up again in a few months which means more photos as well. Regarding WINC, I took this photo in 2015. Will that work? APK whisper in my ear 03:48, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
- Ah, this I did not know. :) That's actually the one we use on the WINC (AM) article. :) I was hoping to get something a tad bit more up-to-date (and a little more professional looking) but it's OK. :) I can always run Downtown Winchester and snap some shots with my cellphone. They won't be the best, but they will be better than nothing (that's where the "professional looking" comes in).
- Hope you are doing well. :) Take Care, Neutralhomer • Talk • 03:54 on May 3, 2021 (UTC)

- Ohh, gotcha! I worked on the article in 2014 and bought it to GA and FA, so that makes sense. :) I'm in Stephens City, so I'm not too far away. :) Yeah, it's sad. We (my parents and I) got here in 1992 when Dad got out of the Navy (I was just 11 at the time) and WINC-FM was the massive powerhouse that it was for years. Full staff (5a to 12a and weekends), a full news department, the Lewis family had it stacked. Things went slowly downhill when Centennial came around. They had a good thing with Active Rock on 104.9/105.5 and "The Bone", but they weren't smart enough to keep it. They were actually beating 99.3. That Classic Country format they hung onto for a couple years on 104.9 and later 105.5 had a 1.0 in the ratings. It was dead in the water and had ZERO advertisers. It never played any commercials. It was no wonder they had to sell WINC-FM. :( I wish I had some money to LMA either 104.9 or 105.5 from Metro Radio. I could make soooo much money, even with piddly 105.5's signal. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 21:56 on May 12, 2021 (UTC)

Washington, Virginia (again)
Dear APK, You have helped me in the recent past, and I am hoping that you can help me once again. If you recall, on 14 October 2020 you reinstated the text that I had created for the wikipedia page on the town of Washington, Virginia. Now another editor (Doncram) is demanding that the page I wrote on the Washington, Virginia, Historic District be eliminated and the text merged into the Washington, Virginia page. His justification for this is that the historic district encompasses the whole town. I and others have argued against this, but our arguments have had no effect on Doncram. I feel like I am at the mercy of an editor yet again. I believe that the two pages deal with very separate subjects, i.e., one with a description of the town and the other with the town as a National Register Historic District. Could you possibly find the time to read our arguments and the comments of Doncram; these can be found on the Washington, Virginia wikipedia page. If you believe that Doncram is correct, I will regrettably withdraw my objections to the merger, but I hope you can see some virtue in retaining two separate wikipedia pages. Many thanks to you.Harriswoodville (talk) 20:34, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
