Hi everybody. I'm Novem Linguae, which is Latin for the number of languages I want to learn.
I think everybody should go through a phase where they edit Wikipedia. It'd be good for them as intellectuals. From editing here, you learn a lot about writing clearly (copy editing), about evaluating the quality of sources (WP:RSP), and about giving the proper weight to things (WP:UNDUE).
Knowledge is our business. Absolute truth is out there, hiding amongst the noise.
I'm currently furloughed due to my industry getting hit by COVID. And I am also a little wiki-addicted. So I am spending a lot of time on here. I'm averaging about 1500 edits a month.
Tip to new editors: Policies around here are complicated. It takes a couple thousand edits to get a good feel for everything. Follow the lead of experienced editors. In my opinion, notability (figuring out what articles get deleted), WP:MEDRS (finding and evaluating sources from medical journals), and WP:FRINGE (figuring out what academic consensus is and then excluding material that scholars don't talk about) are the most complicated policies.
Please leave a message on my talk page if you'd like to discuss something. Happy editing!
