Jordan Harbinger is an American radio personality, podcaster, voice actor, Journalist[1], television host, Lawyer[2] and businessman focused on profiles/interviews of notable individuals and providing self help advice, namely with respect to professional networking and social skills, human dynamics, Social engineering (security) and psychology.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10] His podcast, The Jordan Harbinger Show averages over 5 million downloads each month[11][12], making it one of the most downloaded podcasts in the world.[13]
Harbinger also does voiceover work for film and video games, including Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty and Red Dead Redemption 2[14]
Harbinger was kidnapped twice. Once in Mexico and again in Serbia[15], frequently travels to unusual destinations, and ran a tour company that took westerners to North Korea via China and has spent significant time in the country. Tours were supervised from beginning to end by North Korean minders and tour guides.[16][17]
He is also a strategic advisor to Himalaya, a Chinese podcasting company, aiding in a raise of over $100 million USD.[18]
Harbinger received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Michigan.[6] He attended law school on a whim.[19] While he was in law school, he started coaching other people how to network and become more confident, and started a podcast which was the predecessor to The Jordan Harbinger Show.[6][7] When Harbinger graduated in 2006, he moved to New York City.[7][20] Around that time he formed a company called "The Art of Charm" to turn his coaching into a business; the company was originally based in New York City.[7][21]
In 2007 Harbinger was hired by a Wall Street firm to work on mortgage-backed securities[19][20] and was laid off after around a year due to the 2007 financial crisis.[6]
By that time his podcast had gained traction, and he started focusing full-time on the coaching business.[19][7] In 2010 an app was launched, and by 2011 Harbinger had a radio talk show called "Game On" on both Sirius and XM Satellite that aired on Friday nights.[7][22] By 2011, Harbinger had relocated to Los Angeles.[6] By that time the company offered week-long "boot camps"[7], and offered other options like coaching over the phone.[23]
In 2013 Harbinger demonstrated at DEF CON how easily a person can be manipulated into divulging information with someone who may not be what they claim to be, based on the Robin Sage experiment of 2010.[8]
By 2015, Harbinger was rebranding himself more as a more general self-help personality and was profiling celebrities in the podcasts.[24][22][25] He is a recurring guest on the The Adam Carolla Show (podcast) alongside Gina Grad and Adam Carolla.
In early 2018, Harbinger split from his former partners and started a new podcast under his own name.[26][27]
The Jordan Harbinger Show was listed by Apple as one of the Most Downloaded New Shows of 2018.[28]
