Requested moves is a process for requesting the retitling (moving) of an article, template, or project page on Wikipedia. (For retitling files, categories and other items, see When not to use this page.) Please read the article titling policy and the guideline regarding primary topics before moving a page or requesting a page move.
Any autoconfirmed user can use the Move function to perform most moves (see Help:How to move a page). If you have no reason to expect a dispute concerning a move, be bold and move the page. However, it may not always be possible or desirable to do this:
- Technical reasons may prevent a move: a page may already exist at the target title and require deletion, or the page may be protected from moves. See: § Requesting technical moves.
- Requests to revert recent, undiscussed, controversial moves may be made at WP:RM/TR. If the new name has not become the stable title, the undiscussed move will be reverted. If the new name has become the stable title, a requested move will be needed to determine the article's proper location.
- A title may be disputed, and discussion may be necessary to reach consensus: see § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves. The requested moves process is not mandatory, and sometimes an informal discussion at the article's talk page can help reach consensus.
- Unregistered users and new (not yet autoconfirmed) users are unable to move pages.
Requests are generally processed after seven days. If consensus is reached at or after this time, a reviewer will enact the request. If not, the request may be re-listed to allow more time for consensus to develop, or the discussion closed as "no consensus". See Wikipedia:Requested moves/Closing instructions for more details on the process.
Wikipedia:Move review can be used to contest the outcome of a move request as long as all steps are followed. If a discussion on the closer's talk page does not resolve an issue, then a move review will evaluate the close of the move discussion to determine whether or not the contested close was reasonable and consistent with the spirit and intent of common practice, policies, and guidelines.

When not to use this page
Separate processes exist for moving certain types of pages, and for changes other than page moves:
- Making an uncontroversial move – if you can, do it yourself! If you can't, see § Requesting technical moves.
- Renaming a category – propose the move at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.
- Renaming a stub template – propose the move at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.
- Renaming an image or other file – see Wikipedia:Moving a page § Moving a file page.
- Moves from draft namespace or user space – (new/unconfirmed users only) add
{{subst:submit}}
to the top of the article. - Merging two articles – make a request at Wikipedia:Proposed mergers, or be bold and do it yourself.
- Requesting that page histories be merged – list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge.
- Contesting a move request close – use the Wikipedia:Move review process.
Undiscussed moves
Autoconfirmed editors may move a page without discussion if all of the following apply:
- No article exists at the new target title;
- There has been no discussion (especially no recent discussion) about the title of the page that expressed any objection to a new title; and
- It seems unlikely that anyone would reasonably disagree with the move.
If you disagree with such a move, and the new title has not been in place for a long time, you may revert the move. If you cannot revert the move for technical reasons, then you may request a technical move.
Move wars are disruptive, so if you make a bold move and it is reverted, do not make the move again. Instead, follow the procedures laid out in § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves.
Requesting technical moves
If you are unable to complete a technical move, request it below. If this is your first article and you want your draft article published, please submit it for review at Articles for creation, by adding the code {{subst:submit}}
to the top of the draft or user sandbox page instead of listing it here.
- To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code filling in pages and reason:
{{subst:RMassist| current page title | new page title | reason = reason for move}}
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page. - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Uncontroversial technical requests
- The Surrounded (novel) → The Surrounded (move · ) – Newly-created article about the novel, does not need "(novel)" in the article title, but there is an old redirect to the author's article standing in the way of a simple page move. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 14:29, 11 April 2019 (UTC)

- Contesting these simultaneously, as they were nominated simultaneously. I'll note that the character "區" means "district" and is a part of each Chinese name. Category:Districts of New Taipei, Category:Districts of Taipei, and Category:Districts of Keelung, lend support to including "district" as part of WP:COMMONNAME. WP:WIAN advises the use of widely accepted names, including government standards. A list of districts provided by Tainan City Government all include the "區" character. - @Ganbaruby: I think what Vycl1994 is saying here is nicely reflected in our naming convention at WP:NC-ZH. Sam Sailor 16:53, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Vycl1994 and Sam Sailor: I am aware that the official names in Chinese of these places include "district" in the name. However, both WP:COMMONNAME and WP:OFFICIAL state that official names are not necessarily the common name. WP:COMMONNAME also states that only English sources should be considered for the article title. We don't add the disambiguator in Taipei or Kaohsiung, so why should we do it here? Additionally, if you look at Category:Townships in Changhua County, Category:Townships in Yilan County, Taiwan, or any other Taiwanese county-level category, none of the articles have "district" or "township" at the end except when disambiguation is needed. Regarding WP:NC-ZH, I cannot find the place that says the word "district" has to be added, but rather should be only as a disambiguator, which these articles definitely do not need. I feel like the word "district" is extra and should be removed for for the reasons above and for conciseness in WP:PRECISE. ◢ Ganbaruby! 17:48, 11 April 2019 (UTC)

Requests to revert undiscussed moves
Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves
The discussion process is used for potentially controversial moves. The move is potentially controversial if any of the following apply:
- There is an existing article (not just a redirect) at the target title;
- There has been any past debate about the best title for the page;
- Someone could reasonably disagree with the move.
Use this process if there is any reason to believe a move would be contested. In particular, use this process before moving any existing page with incoming links to create a disambiguation page at that title. For technical move requests (e.g. spelling and capitalization fixes), see Requesting technical moves.
Do not put more than one open move request on the same talk page, because this is not supported by the bot that handles updates to this page. Multiple closed move requests may be on the same page, but each should have a unique section heading.
Requesting a single page move
To request a single page move, edit at the bottom of the talk page of the article you want moved, without adding a new header, inserting this code:
{{subst:requested move|NewName|reason=Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please prioritize searches limited to reliable sources (e.g. books, news, scholarly papers) over other web results. Do not sign this.}}
Replace NewName
with the requested new name of the page (or with a question mark, if you want more than one possible new name to be considered). The template will automatically create the heading "Requested move 11 April 2019" and sign the post for you.
Use the code |talk=yes
to add separate locations for survey and discussion.
There is no need to edit the article in question. Once the above code is added to the Talk page, a bot will automatically add the following notification at the top of the article:
Note: Unlike other request processes on Wikipedia, such as RfC, nominations need not be neutral. Make your point as best you can; use evidence (such as Ngrams and pageview statistics) and refer to applicable policies and guidelines, especially our article titling policy and the guideline on disambiguation and primary topic.
WikiProjects may subscribe to Article alerts to receive RM notifications, e.g. this page is transcluded to here. RMCD bot notifies many of the other Wikiprojects listed on the talk page of the article to be moved to invite project members to participate in the RM discussion. Requesters should feel free to notify any other Wikiproject or Noticeboard that might be interested in the move request.
Requesting multiple page moves
A single template may be used to request multiple related moves. On one of the talk pages of the affected articles, create a request and format it as below. A sample request for three page moves is shown here (for two page moves, omit the lines for current3 and new3). For four page moves, add lines for current4 and new4, and so on. There is no technical limit on the number of multiple move requests, but before requesting very large multi-moves, consider whether a naming convention should be changed first. Discuss that change on the talk page for the naming convention, e.g., Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (sportspeople).
{{subst:requested move
| new1 = New title for page 1 with the talk page hosting this discussion
| current2 = Current title of page 2
| new2 = New title for page 2
| current3 = Current title of page 3
| new3 = New title for page 3
| reason = Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please prioritize searches limited to reliable sources (e.g. books, news, scholarly papers) over other web results. Do not sign this.}}
For example, to propose moving the articles Wikipedia
and Wiki
, put this template on Talk:Wikipedia
, and replace current2
with Wiki
. The discussion for all affected articles is held on the talk page of the article at page 1 (Talk:Wikipedia
). Do not sign a request with ~~~~
as the template does this automatically. Do not skip pairs of numbers.
RMCD bot automatically places a notice section on the talk page of the additional pages that are included in your request, advising that the move discussion is in progress, where it is, and that all discussion for all pages included in the request should take place at that one location.
Occasionally the discussions for significant multi-move requests may be hosted on WikiProject talk pages or other pages in Project namespace. For multi-move discussions hosted on a page which is not itself proposed to be moved, specify |current1=Current title of page 1
for the first page to move.

Commenting in a requested move
All editors are welcome to contribute to the discussion regarding a requested page move. There are a number of standards that Wikipedians should practice in such discussions:
- When editors recommend a course of action, they write Support or Oppose in bold text, which is done by surrounding the word with three single quotes on each side, e.g.
'''Support'''
. - Comments or recommendations are added on a new bulleted line (that is, starting with *) and signed by adding
~~~~
to the end. Responses to another editor are threaded and indented using multiple bullets. - The article itself should be reviewed before any recommendation is made; do not base recommendations solely on the information supplied by other editors. It may also help to look at the article's edit history. However, please read the earlier comments and recommendations, as well as prior move requests. They may contain relevant arguments and useful information.
- Vested interests in the article should be disclosed per Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI.
When participating, please consider the following:
- Editors should make themselves familiar with the article titling policy at Wikipedia:Article titles.
- Other important guidelines that set forth community norms for article titles include Wikipedia:Disambiguation, specific naming conventions, and the manual of style.
- The debate is not a vote; please do not make recommendations that are not sustained by arguments.
- Explain how the proposed article title meets or contravenes policy and guidelines rather than merely stating that it does so.
- Nomination already implies that the nominator supports the name change, and nominators should refrain from repeating this recommendation on a separate bulleted line.[a]
- Do not make conflicting recommendations. If you change your mind, use strike-through to retract your previous statement by enclosing it between <s> and </s> after the bullets, and de-bold the struck words, as in "•
SupportOppose".
Please remember that reasonable editors will sometimes disagree, but that arguments based in policy, guidelines, and evidence have more weight than unsupported statements. When an editor offers an argument that does not explain how the move request is consistent with policies and guidelines, a reminder to engage in constructive, on-topic discussion may be useful. On the other hand, a pattern of responding to requests with groundless opinion, proof by assertion, and ignoring content guidelines may become disruptive. If a pattern of disruptive behavior persists after efforts are made to correct the situation through dialogue, please consider using a dispute resolution process.
Closing instructions
Any uninvolved editor in good standing may close a move request. Please read the closing instructions for information on how to close a move request. The Simple guide to closing RM discussions details how to actually close a requested move discussion.
Relisting
Relisting a discussion moves the request out of the backlog up to the current day in order to encourage further input. The decision to relist a discussion is best left to uninvolved experienced editors upon considering, but declining, to close the discussion. In general, discussions should not be relisted more than once before properly closing.[b] Users relisting a debate which has already been relisted, or relisting a debate with a substantial discussion, should write a short explanation on why they did not consider the debate sufficient to close. While there is no consensus forbidding participation in a requested move discussion after relisting it, many editors consider it an inadvisable form of supervote. If you want to relist a discussion and then participate in it, be prepared to explain why you think it was appropriate.
Relisting can be done using {{subst:relisting}}
, which also signs it automatically, and is placed at the very end of the initial request (after their signature, and subsequent re-listers signatures). When a discussion has been relisted a bot partially underlines the "Discuss" link in the lists of debates: (Discuss).
When a relisted discussion reaches a resolution, it may be closed at any time according to the closing instructions; there is no required length of time to wait before closing a relisted discussion.
If discussion has become stale, or it seems that discussion would benefit from more input of editors versed in the subject area, consider more widely publicizing the discussion, such as by notifying WikiProjects of the discussion using the template {{RM notification}} or {{Mdn}}. Banners placed at the top of the talk page hosting the move request can often be used to identify WikiProjects suitable for notification.
Notes
- ^ A nominator making a procedural nomination with which they may not agree is free to add a bulleted line explaining their actual position. Additional detail, such as sources, may also be provided in an additional bullet point if its inclusion in the nomination statement would make the statement unwieldy. Please remember that the entire nomination statement is transcluded into the list on this page.
- ^ Despite this, discussions are occasionally relisted up to three times.
Current discussions
- This section lists all requests filed or identified as potentially controversial which are currently under discussion.
- (Discuss) – Grahamstown → Makhanda, Eastern Cape – A previous name change (immediately after the name change) was reverted with reference to WP:NAMECHANGE. Since then, reliable sources use the new name of Makhanda (e.g. News24, Mail & Guardian, Eyewitness News (South Africa), The Times (South Africa), Tufts University, Willamette University, iAfrica). - (Discuss) – Wager Mutiny → ? – As I explained, in October 2018, whether the incident was an actual mutiny is questionable. {| class="wikitable" | : This article's most cited reference is Stanley Walter Croucher Pack's 1952 book, entitled "The Wager Mutiny", which seems to characterize the events, after the wreck, as a "mutiny". I think this is highly misleading. It is not just that officer's authority over seamen ended when their pay stopped, when the ship was sunk, but officer's commission were also only for the ship, and ended when the ship was laid up -- or sunk. Similarly, the Navy regulations contained the same loophole. : I think including the word "mutiny" in this article's name lapses from WP:UNDUE, as does its focus on the chaos following the wreck as a mutiny. As per WP:UNDUE more focus should be given to (1) recognition that those who stopped following orders weren't necessarily mutineers; (2) Anson's reforms to the Navy's regulations to close the loophole that stripped officers of authority over ratings, when their ship was lost. |} So, I suggest that an article titles like HMS Wager incident, or Wreck of the HMS Wager would better serve our readers. - (Discuss) – List of Governors of New York → List of governors of New York – Wikipedia has a great problem with overcapitalization, going against its own Manual of Style (WP:JOBTITLES), virtually every other style guide (e.g. Chicago Manual), and basic English orthography. The word "governors" is always a common noun and should not be capitalized. While Governor of New York is properly capitalized because it refers to a proper office or a specific holder of the office, List of governors of New York ought to be lower case because it does not refer to a proper office or a specific holder of the office. WP:JOBTITLES explains that whenever the name of a noun denoting an office, title, or position is in plural, it should be lower case, and that is based on the vast majority of other style manuals.
It is worth noting that the word "governors" is already lower case in articles such as Lists of United States governors, List of United States governors, List of current United States governors by age, List of female governors in the United States, List of U.S. state governors born outside the United States, and List of minority governors and lieutenant governors in the United States. - (Discuss) – Sint-Jans-Molenbeek → Molenbeek-Saint-Jean – Recently, there have been a couple of attempts to change the lead to the French name for the town, which is in the form used at the town's website, along with the Dutch version (depending on which language you view it in). A misplaced attempt to request a move on the article was made with the rationale "the French name is used much more often and people are more familiar with it, therefore it makes sense to change it because it is confusing". This seems a legitimate issue for discussion, so I'm starting the move request, noting only that the Dutch name for the article has been fairly longstanding. I have several proposals: * Conservatism (linguistics) * Conservativeness (linguistics) * Linguistic conservatism * Linguistic conservativeness * Conservative language * Conservative and innovative languages The first four are all abstract nouns, which are often preferred over specific nouns when both essentially deal with the same encyclopedic concept. They diverge on two axes: one is "conservatism" vs. "conservativeness"; conservatism is a far more common word and should be used if it means the right thing (which Nardog is contesting). For the other part, a WP:NATURAL disambiguator (putting "linguistic" in front) is preferred if its prevalence is greater than or within an order of magnitude of the plain, ambiguous form; otherwise parenthetical disambiguation is fine. The last two are less aesthetically pleasing but benefit from not having to determine the noun form of "conservative". The first of the two is a short, simple solution, while the latter is a common way of covering antonymous concepts (e.g. Centum and satem languages). The downside is that "conservative" can refer to things which are not languages, as detailed in the article. King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 03:37, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Battle of Pressburg → Battle of Brezalauspurc – There are specialists of the history of the period who do not associate Brezalauspurc (as the venue of the battle mentioned in the primary source) with Pressburg, but with Mosaburg, consequently the present name contradicts WP:NPOV. - (Discuss) – 2012 Packers–Seahawks officiating controversy → Fail Mary – Per WP:COMMONNAME. The current title is definitely a "Descriptive name" but is nowhere close to it's common name. Previous concerns about using the name Fail Mary include WP:NPOV and that the name Fail Mary refers to the play, not the controversy. However, in the proceeding years these concerns have been alleviated by this play and the resulting controversy being known universally as the Fail Mary, even from the Seahawks POV. As an example, see here. A simple Google search will show you that Fail Mary is the most common name for this entire topic and that the current name, although very descriptive, is not commonly used. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 15:48, 2 April 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. - (Discuss) – Ontario Line → ? – Canuck85 moved Relief Line (Toronto) to Ontario Line. I checked their contribution history and could see 0 sign that they discussed this idea with anyone, prior to making it. This is counter-policy. There has already been some attempts to update the article so it reflect the new name. However, the basic premise behind this renaming is highly questionable. This renaming should never have been made, without a prior discussion. For weeks Premier Doug Ford has been saying that, once the Province takes over the TTC's subways, they will use "new technology". So, the Ontario Line will not use the rolling stock that was going to be used for the DRL. Neither is it going the route the TTC's planner spent years mapping out. I strongly urge contributors to stop trying to update this article, to reflect the new name, until we discuss, and sort out, whether we should have two articles, or one article. - (Discuss) – List of Phineas and Ferb characters → List of Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy's Law characters – Milo Murphy's Law was presented from the outset as being set in the same fictional universe as Phineas and Ferb, in fact in and around the same area and set after the events of the original series; Milo Murphy's Law character Melissa Chase is retroactively established as being one of the onlooking bystanders in the first episode of Phineas and Ferb, explained as having a fear of rollercoasters as a result. In the first season finale of Milo Murphy's Law, the character of Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz shows up, the more typical Phineas and Ferb crossover episode being the second season premiers. After this crossover, the characters of Doofenshmirtz, Perry the Platypus, Major Monogram and Carl joined the cast of Milo Murphy's Law on a permanent basis, in a recurring capacity for all except Doofenshmirtz, whose capacity is a supporting to borderline main one. Since then, even minor characters from Phineas and Ferb, such as Jeremy Johnson, have appeared in the occasional episode of Milo Murphy's Law. Given characters' story arcs are being continued from Phineas and Ferb, it makes the most sense to have both character pages be one, rather than having character information split across two pages once Milo Murphy's Law would have received its own individual page. This marks what the combined page would look like. Thank you. MacCready (talk) 16:09, 1 April 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 15:13, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – KCLA (defunct) → KCLA (Arkansas) – This RM follows from a recently concluded RfC. It proposes 94 page moves to change (defunct) disambiguators to more specific ones for radio and TV station articles in the United States and consolidates three previous RMs that led to fragmented discussions. (One article, KSGC (defunct), is new because it had not previously been part of a relevant category.) The goal of the changes is to replace the (defunct) disambiguator with more accurate, MOS-compliant disambiguators, or to remove it where possible. A further procedural and discussion history follows, as will a ping of all editors involved in the RfC and RMs. Raymie (t • c) 03:15, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Under-occupancy penalty → Bedroom tax – per WP:COMMONNAME – "Under-occupancy penalty" is an official name (various alternative wording is used), but "bedroom tax" gives over 10 times as many hits in the search engines and on the BBC news site. It's used by the media, charities, housing associations, quangos, local councils... Just about the only organisation that doesn't use the term "bedroom tax" is HM Government. - (Discuss) – Tour of the Basque Country → Itzulia Basque Country – As far as I understand, the race was officially rebranded as 'Itzulia Basque Country' in 2018. This is also the name registered in the UCI calendar for the current event, as well as last year's race (going back to 2017, the race was registered as 'Vuelta al Pais Vasco). More importantly perhaps is that the organisers use the same new name in all languages - there isn't any Tour or Vuelta in their press material in English or Spanish. It's also the name used in all language versions of their official website), and on screen graphics in the international broadcasts. Just 'The Itzulia' and 'La Itzulia'. Media seems to be aboard the train as well. I don't think this is a controversial move, but as there been an earlier discussion on moving the article I put this as a requested move. - (Discuss) – Fraternities and sororities → Student fraternities and sororities in North America – I realised that the immediate above move request cannot be dealt with without taking a little bit larger context of niche articles into account. Hence this renewed request (and the former one may be dropped). The request concerns WP:GLOBAL, WP:PRECISION, WP:CONSISTENCY, and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC - i.e. occupying "Christian fraternity" with disambiguator? No way, this should redirect to Fraternity. That is, if none wants to write a new article Christian fraternity possibly bordering WP:ORIGINALRESEARCH on the WP:GLOBAL intersection of fraternity and Christianity in general. - (Discuss) – John Higgins (snooker player) → John Higgins – I'm pretty certain Higgins is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for his name. Whilst there is a lot of "John Higgins" at John Higgins, none of them are nearly as notable as this four time world champion (7 times World Championship finalist). I did a pageview analysis on the page, and nothing gets anywhere near as much traffic (if at all). Whilst this isn't a surefire way to denote the primary topic, it's a good indicator. - (Discuss) – Ian Alexander (actor) → Ian Alexander – The article for the actor Ian Alexander seems to literally be a thousand times more popular than the other Ian Alexander pages. The actor got over 100,000 views in the past 30 days vs. less than a 100 each for the politician or the footballer. In addition, the article for the actor cites 13 sources vs. just 2 for the footballer and 4 for the politician. It's silly that searching for the name takes you to a disambiguation page and it's likely just because the actor is young and only became notable recently. I've already moved the disambiguation page from Ian Alexander to Ian Alexander (disambiguation) and I've added a disambiguation hatnote to the actor's page. The linked page says under the A-hallen section: "During the 2009/2010 Kvalserien to Elitserien it was named Zellout Arena before returning to Gränby Ishallar. [...] Now the arena is named Gränby Ishall". The title of the page confirms it and the text in that section makes it clear that it talks about the entire complex with multiple rinks. - (Discuss) – War in Afghanistan (1978–present) → ? – I think the titles 'Afghan conflict (1978-present)' or 'Afghan crisis (1978-present)' would be better suited than the current title. The term 'conflict' or 'crisis' is better for this wider spectrum of different conflicts that have taken place since '78. It puts it into line with other article titles like: *Iraq conflict (2003–present) (with Iraq War one part of it) *Ukrainian crisis (with War in Donbass one part of it) *Libyan Crisis (2011–present) (with Libyan Civil War (2014-present) one part of it) Using the same method, we could have e.g. Afghan crisis (1978-present) with War in Afghanistan (2001-present) as one part of this wider series of conflicts. Also I should mention that this article is also named too similar to War in Afghanistan (2001-present). It's not a confusion issue (as said by someone in a previous move request above) - but instead it's to do with accessibility: When searching for 'Afghanistan War' in Google you see the 2001-present article there, not this 1978-present article, partly because the 2001-present article is a lot bigger and known. This 1978-present article needs good distinguishing as a result, which would also greatly help people searching for this article in particular on Google or other search engines instead of the current 2001-present war. I am personally mostly in favor of changing the name to Afghan crisis (1978-present), but anything else similar I would prefer over the current title. Drayqueen (talk) 00:25, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – ExoMars 2020 surface platform → Kazachok – Per precedent set by the move discussion for Rosalind Franklin. It is the official name and common name for the spacecraft per coverage by third party sources [1][2][3]. The name also satisfies guidelines on both concise article titles and precise article titles. A {{Redirect}} hatnote on the top of this article that reads along the lines of ""Kazachok" redirects here. For the traditional Cossacks dance, see Kozachok" would suffice as a way to explicitly point readers to the similarly-named article, if that was where they were headed. According to Pageviews Analysis however, this confusion does not seem to be a problem as barely anybody is searching up the term "Kazachok" to look for "Kozachok" [4][5]. Another look at Pageviews Analysis shows us that for the "Kazachok" name at least, the spacecraft would be the primary topic [6]. – PhilipTerryGraham (talk · articles · reviews) 00:09, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Peter Maloney → Peter Maloney (politician) – Although I'm the original creator here, I did so at a time when neither of the other two hatnoted articles existed yet; both were created after this one was. I don't believe, however, that this one is so much more notable than the other two that he would qualify as the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for their shared name — he should also be moved to a disambiguated title, with the plain name converted to a dab page. - (Discuss) – Tintin and I → Tintin and Me – I moved this to the proposed title back in 2014 on the grounds that it was surely a more accurate translation, and the one used [by] the BBC. It was moved back by User:Prhartcom in 2015. Prhartcom's rationale seems to be based on the presumption that "and me" is always wrong and "and I" is always right, which is simply not the case. "Tintin and I are the subjects of this film" would be correct, while "Tintin and me are the subjects..." would be incorrect. But on the other hand we have "This film is about Tintin and me"; "This film is about the history of Tintin and me"; "This film depicts the relationship between Tintin and me" — "Tintin and I" would be wrong in each of these sentences. The links to PBS and YouTube no longer work. In any case, I don't think the translation used in the DVD subtitles should necessarily indicate the correct title for the article. Even otherwise educated native speakers of English often seem to use "and I" when they mean "and me", so it's unsurprising that someone translating from the French might make this error as well. - (Discuss) – Bentley (disambiguation) → Bentley – There are a large number of uses on the DAB page and while the company does get more views its own website includes "Motors" in the title. The university also gets a reasonable number of views. Others such as Austin Motor Company, Ford Motor Company and Lincoln Motor Company use the longer names at least for natural disambiguation and that would seem to be the case here. I suggest however that we keep the company at the top of the DAB since its likely the most likely topic but the places probably have more long-term significance. The company was founded by W. O. Bentley and H. M. Bentley and the surname derives from the places. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:24, 4 April 2019 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Eurobond → External bond – Eurobond (i.e. Eurodollar bonds) can be used in the plural, and Eurobonds (i.e. eurozone-issued bonds) can be used in the singular, making plurality entirely useless for distinguishing between the two topics. The first one is easy, as "External bond" is mentioned in the article as an alternate term, unambiguous and perfect for WP:NATURAL disambiguation. The second one I'm less sure about. The article says "European bonds" but that is ambiguous because it can refer to any bond issued in Europe. "Joint Eurobond", "Eurobond proposal", or "Proposed Eurobond" all sound fine to me. Happy to hear others' ideas. At the end of it, we should turn Eurobond into a disambiguation page and redirect Eurobonds to it, as neither topic is primary. - (Discuss) – Thessaloniki Airport → Thessaloniki Airport Makedonia – Per WP:officialname in it's logo and common practice across all of Wikipedia to include the full name & title. See List of international airports by country: e.g. Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (not Belgrade Airport), Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport (not Ohrid Airport). Notice Skopje Alexander the Great Airport dropped the name Alexander the Great because of the Prespa Agreement but that agreement does not require such renaming of the Makedonia airport. Lately, the page was previously moved with no discussion on a single user's good faith request but to an amibiguous (this is not the only Thessaloniki airport) and non-official name on dubious WP:OR usage of WP:commonname. Namely if you cut words from any official title you are going to have more Google results on the needless cost of precision,
unless we should call it just "Greek Airport" which has the most google results(e.g. "Airport" would have most google results naturally). An older move discussion[27] with many users participation was opposed to drop "International" from airport titles in Greece for the same reason. I propose the short official non-ambiguous title Thessaloniki Airport Makedonia, but we could also include the word 'International' as well Shadowmorph ^"^ 09:02, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – NGHTCRWLRS → Nghtcrwlrs – Per MOS:TITLE, WP:NCCAPS, MOS:TM. Wikipedia uses a sentence-case titles (and title case for titles of works), absent some very compelling reason to ignore our guidelines. The WP:COI demands of the author of the work (see previous abortive RfC, and thread at top of this page) are irrelevant (see WP:OFFICIALNAME). Wikipedia does not mimic marketing capitalization gimmicks like "SONY" and "macy's". It would have to be shown that the capitalization in the title serves some kind of semantic purpose (e.g. is an acronym) in order for Wikipedia to ever put this in SCREAMING ALL-CAPS. A very large number of modern books, films, and other works are marketed in all-capitals on the covers, in print ads, etc., and we do not imitate this over-stylization. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 00:10, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Longford (disambiguation) → Longford – Procedural nomination, I am neutral. While I favoured having the town at the base name serving as a broad concept article at Talk:Antrim, County Antrim#Requested move 5 November 2018 and Talk:Donegal (town)#Requested move 23 March 2019 the consensus in both of those cases was that the town was not primary. In the case of Antrim the town has a population of 20,001, and the county-618,108. With Antrim, New Hampshire only has 2,637 (the others don't have stated populations). In the case of Donegal the town has a population of 2,618 and the county 159,192. While Donegal, Pennsylvania only has 116 and is named after the Irish town. Donegal, Perth County, Ontario is also named after the Irish town and doesn't have a stated population. In both cases the towns of Antrim and Donegal could function as WP:DABCONCEPTS for the counties and thus would be by far the most populated/significant but there was consensus against that. In the case of Longford the town has a population of 10,008 and the county has 40,873. Longford, Coventry has 18,538, Longford, Derbyshire has 349, Longford, Gloucestershire 1,218, Longford (ward) has 12,163, Longford, Newport has 102, Longford, Warrington has 8,012, Longford, Victoria has 929, Longford, Tasmania has 3,863 and Longford, Kansas has 75 (total 45, 249). There is also Longford (film) and several other places such as Longford, London that don't have population data. Longford, County Longford and Longford Town F.C. have 6, 191 views combined while the others have 4,123. [[28]] [[29]]. This isn't a WP:POINTy nomination but based on the previous consensus, if a town that has a county named after it and a few small places isn't primary then a town that has a county and some unrelated places that exceed even the county's population clearly isn't primary. I have chosen Longford, County Longford as the target like Category:Wexford, County Wexford due to the fact that Longford, Tasmania and Longford, Victoria are also towns and thus would be WP:PDABs and fail WP:PRECISION however I'm happy for Longford (town) to redirect to the Irish town or we could use Longford (Irish town). - (Discuss) – Department of Transport (Victoria, 2008–13) → Department of Transport, Planning and Local Infrastructure – The Department of Transport, Planning and Local Infrastructure link redirects to this page. However this page currently covers the previous incarnation of DOT prior to 2013. The start date of 2008 is also suspicious as stated in previous section on this talk page, hence the title of this page should not contain the year "2008" unless verified. The Department of Transport, Planning and Local Infrastructure is the last incarnation of the department prior to merging into Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources, hence it should be the new name of this article. It can be mentioned in the header paragraph something along the lines of "Prior to 2013, it was simply known as (or replaced) '''Department of Transport''', which in turn replaced the Department of Infrastructure in 2008". The current DOT wikipage will then simply be named as Department of Transport (Victoria), replacing the existing disambiguation page. This is because, anyone typing Department of Transport (Victoria) into the search box is probably searching for the current DOT and not a past/defunct DOT. It is also unusual for an existing and current organisation/agency to include years in the title. An {{About}} tag can be added to the top of the current DOT page instead, linking to the old DOT wikipage and the Transport for Victoria page, replacing the function of the disambiguation page. - (Discuss) – WLQR (AM) → ? – This one is confusing for people without a background in radio, so let's try and explain it simply. In 2010, Cumulus Media, a large owner of radio stations, sold a station known as WTOD in Toledo, Ohio. It desired to keep the WTOD callsign, so it parked it on the former WHSC in Hartsville, South Carolina, which it owned. In March 2016, the South Carolina station switched callsigns with 1470 AM in Toledo, then known as WLQR, and then a week later surrendered its license, having used the WLQR calls for just a week. Six months later, the Toledo AM station followed suit after trading its calls with an FM station (creating a WLQR AM which went defunct and a WTOD FM which is still around). The result: two defunct stations, including one article with an unusual nonstandard disambiguator. Proposals I'd like to consider: *Proposal 1 :*Defunct Ohio station: WLQR (Ohio) :*Defunct South Carolina station: WLQR (South Carolina) *Proposal 2 :*Defunct Ohio station: WLQR (AM) :*Defunct South Carolina station: WTOD (South Carolina), last callsign used for more than a week *Proposal 3 :*Defunct Ohio station: WLQR (AM) :*Defunct South Carolina station: WHSC (Hartsville, South Carolina), using the station's only callsign until it was used to warehouse calls for Toledo (it was used for 64 of the station's 70 years of broadcasting) I'm not sure which is right, but something has to be better than the current placement. - (Discuss) – Digital terrestrial television in the United States → Digital television in the United States – I have two contentions with this article's recent rename by Bankster: * The lede suggests the scope of the article is not merely broadcast television, mentioning cable and satellite services, so the rename actually is not in sync with the article's contents. * While I understand that the term "digital terrestrial television" is used in other parts of the world, it wasn't ever used in the United States. - (Discuss) – Russell Investments → Frank Russell Company – As the step 1 of the proposed split (see above thread). This article was mostly about "Frank Russell Company", the central company of the former Russell group, not the subsidiary Russell Investments. Thus the article title should reflect this first to retain the purpose of this wiki article as an article for a company/group before 2015 split. LSEG only sold Russell Investments the second-tier subsidiary, not the subsidiary Frank Russell Company and all its subsidiaries. (see press release: "Frank Russell Company's asset management business ('Russell Investments')") The index provider "Russell" was "merged" or now sharing a trading name FTSE Russell with FTSE Group, thus future and current event of Russell as indexer should go to FTSE Russell.
