Requested moves is a process for requesting the retitling (moving) of an article, template, or project page on Wikipedia. (For retitling files, categories and other items, see When not to use this page.) Please read the article titling policy and the guideline regarding primary topics before moving a page or requesting a page move.
Any autoconfirmed user can use the Move function to perform most moves (see Help:How to move a page). If you have no reason to expect a dispute concerning a move, be bold and move the page. However, it may not always be possible or desirable to do this:
- Technical reasons may prevent a move: a page may already exist at the target title and require deletion, or the page may be protected from moves. See: § Requesting technical moves.
- Requests to revert recent, undiscussed, controversial moves may be made at WP:RM/TR. If the new name has not become the stable title, the undiscussed move will be reverted. If the new name has become the stable title, a requested move will be needed to determine the article's proper location.
- A title may be disputed, and discussion may be necessary to reach consensus: see § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves. The requested moves process is not mandatory, and sometimes an informal discussion at the article's talk page can help reach consensus.
- Unregistered users and new (not yet autoconfirmed) users are unable to move pages.
Requests are generally processed after seven days. If consensus is reached at or after this time, a reviewer will enact the request. If not, the request may be re-listed to allow more time for consensus to develop, or the discussion closed as "no consensus". See Wikipedia:Requested moves/Closing instructions for more details on the process.
Wikipedia:Move review can be used to contest the outcome of a move request as long as all steps are followed. If a discussion on the closer's talk page does not resolve an issue, then a move review will evaluate the close of the move discussion to determine whether or not the contested close was reasonable and consistent with the spirit and intent of common practice, policies, and guidelines.

When not to use this page
Separate processes exist for moving certain types of pages, and for changes other than page moves:
- Making an uncontroversial move – if you can, do it yourself! If you can't, see § Requesting technical moves.
- Renaming a category – propose the move at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.
- Renaming a stub template – propose the move at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.
- Renaming an image or other file – see Wikipedia:Moving a page § Moving a file page.
- Moves from draft namespace or user space – (new/unconfirmed users only) add
{{subst:submit}}
to the top of the article. - Merging two articles – make a request at Wikipedia:Proposed mergers, or be bold and do it yourself.
- Requesting that page histories be merged – list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge.
- Contesting a move request close – use the Wikipedia:Move review process.
Undiscussed moves
Autoconfirmed editors may move a page without discussion if all of the following apply:
- No article exists at the new target title;
- There has been no discussion (especially no recent discussion) about the title of the page that expressed any objection to a new title; and
- It seems unlikely that anyone would reasonably disagree with the move.
If you disagree with such a move, and the new title has not been in place for a long time, you may revert the move. If you cannot revert the move for technical reasons, then you may request a technical move.
Move wars are disruptive, so if you make a bold move and it is reverted, do not make the move again. Instead, follow the procedures laid out in § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves.
Requesting technical moves
If you are unable to complete a technical move, request it below. If this is your first article and you want your draft article published, please submit it for review at Articles for creation, by adding the code {{subst:submit}}
to the top of the draft or user sandbox page instead of listing it here.
- To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code filling in pages and reason:
{{subst:RMassist| current page title | new page title | reason = reason for move}}
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page. - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Requests to revert undiscussed moves
Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves
The discussion process is used for potentially controversial moves. The move is potentially controversial if any of the following apply:
- There is an existing article (not just a redirect) at the target title;
- There has been any past debate about the best title for the page;
- Someone could reasonably disagree with the move.
Use this process if there is any reason to believe a move would be contested. In particular, use this process before moving any existing page with incoming links to create a disambiguation page at that title. For technical move requests (e.g. spelling and capitalization fixes), see Requesting technical moves.
Do not put more than one open move request on the same talk page, because this is not supported by the bot that handles updates to this page. Multiple closed move requests may be on the same page, but each should have a unique section heading.
Requesting a single page move
To request a single page move, edit at the bottom of the talk page of the article you want moved, without adding a new header, inserting this code:
{{subst:requested move|NewName|reason=Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please prioritize searches limited to reliable sources (e.g. books, news, scholarly papers) over other web results. Do not sign this.}}
Replace NewName
with the requested new name of the page (or with a question mark, if you want more than one possible new name to be considered). The template will automatically create the heading "Requested move 08 April 2019" and sign the post for you.
Use the code |talk=yes
to add separate locations for survey and discussion.
There is no need to edit the article in question. Once the above code is added to the Talk page, a bot will automatically add the following notification at the top of the article:
Note: Unlike other request processes on Wikipedia, such as RfC, nominations need not be neutral. Make your point as best you can; use evidence (such as Ngrams and pageview statistics) and refer to applicable policies and guidelines, especially our article titling policy and the guideline on disambiguation and primary topic.
WikiProjects may subscribe to Article alerts to receive RM notifications, e.g. this page is transcluded to here. RMCD bot notifies many of the other Wikiprojects listed on the talk page of the article to be moved to invite project members to participate in the RM discussion. Requesters should feel free to notify any other Wikiproject or Noticeboard that might be interested in the move request.
Requesting multiple page moves
A single template may be used to request multiple related moves. On one of the talk pages of the affected articles, create a request and format it as below. A sample request for three page moves is shown here (for two page moves, omit the lines for current3 and new3). For four page moves, add lines for current4 and new4, and so on. There is no technical limit on the number of multiple move requests, but before requesting very large multi-moves, consider whether a naming convention should be changed first. Discuss that change on the talk page for the naming convention, e.g., Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (sportspeople).
{{subst:requested move
| new1 = New title for page 1 with the talk page hosting this discussion
| current2 = Current title of page 2
| new2 = New title for page 2
| current3 = Current title of page 3
| new3 = New title for page 3
| reason = Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please prioritize searches limited to reliable sources (e.g. books, news, scholarly papers) over other web results. Do not sign this.}}
For example, to propose moving the articles Wikipedia
and Wiki
, put this template on Talk:Wikipedia
, and replace current2
with Wiki
. The discussion for all affected articles is held on the talk page of the article at page 1 (Talk:Wikipedia
). Do not sign a request with ~~~~
as the template does this automatically. Do not skip pairs of numbers.
RMCD bot automatically places a notice section on the talk page of the additional pages that are included in your request, advising that the move discussion is in progress, where it is, and that all discussion for all pages included in the request should take place at that one location.
Occasionally the discussions for significant multi-move requests may be hosted on WikiProject talk pages or other pages in Project namespace. For multi-move discussions hosted on a page which is not itself proposed to be moved, specify |current1=Current title of page 1
for the first page to move.

Commenting in a requested move
All editors are welcome to contribute to the discussion regarding a requested page move. There are a number of standards that Wikipedians should practice in such discussions:
- When editors recommend a course of action, they write Support or Oppose in bold text, which is done by surrounding the word with three single quotes on each side, e.g.
'''Support'''
. - Comments or recommendations are added on a new bulleted line (that is, starting with *) and signed by adding
~~~~
to the end. Responses to another editor are threaded and indented using multiple bullets. - The article itself should be reviewed before any recommendation is made; do not base recommendations solely on the information supplied by other editors. It may also help to look at the article's edit history. However, please read the earlier comments and recommendations, as well as prior move requests. They may contain relevant arguments and useful information.
- Vested interests in the article should be disclosed per Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI.
When participating, please consider the following:
- Editors should make themselves familiar with the article titling policy at Wikipedia:Article titles.
- Other important guidelines that set forth community norms for article titles include Wikipedia:Disambiguation, specific naming conventions, and the manual of style.
- The debate is not a vote; please do not make recommendations that are not sustained by arguments.
- Explain how the proposed article title meets or contravenes policy and guidelines rather than merely stating that it does so.
- Nomination already implies that the nominator supports the name change, and nominators should refrain from repeating this recommendation on a separate bulleted line.[a]
- Do not make conflicting recommendations. If you change your mind, use strike-through to retract your previous statement by enclosing it between <s> and </s> after the bullets, and de-bold the struck words, as in "•
SupportOppose".
Please remember that reasonable editors will sometimes disagree, but that arguments based in policy, guidelines, and evidence have more weight than unsupported statements. When an editor offers an argument that does not explain how the move request is consistent with policies and guidelines, a reminder to engage in constructive, on-topic discussion may be useful. On the other hand, a pattern of responding to requests with groundless opinion, proof by assertion, and ignoring content guidelines may become disruptive. If a pattern of disruptive behavior persists after efforts are made to correct the situation through dialogue, please consider using a dispute resolution process.
Closing instructions
Any uninvolved editor in good standing may close a move request. Please read the closing instructions for information on how to close a move request. The Simple guide to closing RM discussions details how to actually close a requested move discussion.
Relisting
Relisting a discussion moves the request out of the backlog up to the current day in order to encourage further input. The decision to relist a discussion is best left to uninvolved experienced editors upon considering, but declining, to close the discussion. In general, discussions should not be relisted more than once before properly closing.[b] Users relisting a debate which has already been relisted, or relisting a debate with a substantial discussion, should write a short explanation on why they did not consider the debate sufficient to close. While there is no consensus forbidding participation in a requested move discussion after relisting it, many editors consider it an inadvisable form of supervote. If you want to relist a discussion and then participate in it, be prepared to explain why you think it was appropriate.
Relisting can be done using {{subst:relisting}}
, which also signs it automatically, and is placed at the very end of the initial request (after their signature, and subsequent re-listers signatures). When a discussion has been relisted a bot partially underlines the "Discuss" link in the lists of debates: (Discuss).
When a relisted discussion reaches a resolution, it may be closed at any time according to the closing instructions; there is no required length of time to wait before closing a relisted discussion.
If discussion has become stale, or it seems that discussion would benefit from more input of editors versed in the subject area, consider more widely publicizing the discussion, such as by notifying WikiProjects of the discussion using the template {{RM notification}} or {{Mdn}}. Banners placed at the top of the talk page hosting the move request can often be used to identify WikiProjects suitable for notification.
Notes
- ^ A nominator making a procedural nomination with which they may not agree is free to add a bulleted line explaining their actual position. Additional detail, such as sources, may also be provided in an additional bullet point if its inclusion in the nomination statement would make the statement unwieldy. Please remember that the entire nomination statement is transcluded into the list on this page.
- ^ Despite this, discussions are occasionally relisted up to three times.
Current discussions
- This section lists all requests filed or identified as potentially controversial which are currently under discussion.
This list is also available in a page-link-first format and in table format. 50 discussions have been relisted, indicated by (Discuss)
- (Discuss) – Fraternities and sororities → Student fraternities and sororities in North America – I realised that the immediate above move request cannot be dealt with without taking a little bit larger context of niche articles into account. Hence this renewed request (and the former one may be dropped). The request concerns WP:GLOBAL, WP:PRECISION, WP:CONSISTENCY, and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC - i.e. occupying "Christian fraternity" with disambiguator? No way, this should redirect to Fraternity. That is, if none wants to write a new article Christian fraternity possibly bordering WP:ORIGINALRESEARCH on the WP:GLOBAL intersection of fraternity and Christianity in general. - (Discuss) – John Higgins (snooker player) → John Higgins – I'm pretty certain Higgins is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for his name. Whilst there is a lot of "John Higgins" at John Higgins, none of them are nearly as notable as this four time world champion (7 times World Championship finalist). I did a pageview analysis on the page, and nothing gets anywhere near as much traffic (if at all). Whilst this isn't a surefire way to denote the primary topic, it's a good indicator. - (Discuss) – Sobibór trial → Sobibor trial – Since these are articles about the German camp Sobibor and not about the Polish village Sobibór, their main title headers should be the same as the ones in German Wikipedia. The English-speaking world has been using German names for the camps and Polish names for the localities where the camps were situated. Thus "Auschwitz" for the camp and "Oświęcim" for the town, "Kulmhof" for the camp and "Chełmno" for the village, "Belzec" for the camp and "Bełżec" for the village, etc. It may be further noted that the 1987 British TV film, which had a primetime network TV broadcast in the U.S., is titled Escape from Sobibor, not Escape from Sobibór. This triple nomination should be considered as part of the currently active nomination at Talk:Sobibór extermination camp#Requested move 14 March 2019. If these nominations achieve consensus, their associated categories and templates, such as Category:Sobibór extermination camp and Template:Sobibór extermination camp can be moved without further discussions. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 20:45, 21 March 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. bd2412 T 00:30, 7 April 2019 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Ian Alexander (actor) → Ian Alexander – The article for the actor Ian Alexander seems to literally be a thousand times more popular than the other Ian Alexander pages. The actor got over 100,000 views in the past 30 days vs. less than a 100 each for the politician or the footballer. In addition, the article for the actor cites 13 sources vs. just 2 for the footballer and 4 for the politician. It's silly that searching for the name takes you to a disambiguation page and it's likely just because the actor is young and only became notable recently. I've already moved the disambiguation page from Ian Alexander to Ian Alexander (disambiguation) and I've added a disambiguation hatnote to the actor's page. - (Discuss) – Gränby Ishallar → Gränby Ishall – Changed name to "Gränby Ishall" per [5]. The linked page says under the A-hallen section: "During the 2009/2010 Kvalserien to Elitserien it was named Zellout Arena before returning to Gränby Ishallar. [...] Now the arena is named Gränby Ishall". The title of the page confirms it and the text in that section makes it clear that it talks about the entire complex with multiple rinks. "Gränby Ishallar" is the entire complex with multiple rinks because "Ishallar" is plural for "Ishall". 37KZ (talk) 20:13, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – War in Afghanistan (1978–present) → ? – I think the titles 'Afghan conflict (1978-present)' or 'Afghan crisis (1978-present)' would be better suited than the current title. The term 'conflict' or 'crisis' is better for this wider spectrum of different conflicts that have taken place since '78. It puts it into line with other article titles like: *Iraq conflict (2003–present) (with Iraq War one part of it) *Ukrainian crisis (with War in Donbass one part of it) *Libyan Crisis (2011–present) (with Libyan Civil War (2014-present) one part of it) Using the same method, we could have e.g. Afghan crisis (1978-present) with War in Afghanistan (2001-present) as one part of this wider series of conflicts. Also I should mention that this article is also named too similar to War in Afghanistan (2001-present). It's not a confusion issue (as said by someone in a previous move request above) - but instead it's to do with accessibility: When searching for 'Afghanistan War' in Google you see the 2001-present article there, not this 1978-present article, partly because the 2001-present article is a lot bigger and known. This 1978-present article needs good distinguishing as a result, which would also greatly help people searching for this article in particular on Google or other search engines instead of the current 2001-present war. - (Discuss) – ExoMars 2020 surface platform → Kazachok – Per precedent set by the move discussion for Rosalind Franklin. It is the official name and common name for the spacecraft per coverage by third party sources [1][2][3]. The name also satisfies guidelines on both concise article titles and precise article titles. A {{Redirect}} hatnote on the top of this article that reads along the lines of ""Kazachok" redirects here. For the traditional Cossacks dance, see Kozachok" would suffice as a way to explicitly point readers to the similarly-named article, if that was where they were headed. According to Pageviews Analysis however, this confusion does not seem to be a problem as barely anybody is searching up the term "Kazachok" to look for "Kozachok" [4][5]. Another look at Pageviews Analysis shows us that for the "Kazachok" name at least, the spacecraft would be the primary topic [6]. – PhilipTerryGraham (talk · articles · reviews) 00:09, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Broccolini → Baby broccoli – This is a request move from amending the current article title for Broccolini to the general industry term for the vegetable/product, which is Baby Broccoli. This request does not concern whether the industry name given to “baby broccoli” makes actual sense. Instead, this request concerns the precision of the article name when readers view the page. In support of the move, I have provided links showing direct evidence that vegetable producers and average consumers alike refer to the vegetable as baby broccoli and not by the trademarked name Broccolini. - (Discuss) – Tintin and I → Tintin and Me – I moved this to the proposed title back in 2014 on the grounds that it was surely a more accurate translation, and the one used [by] the BBC. It was moved back by User:Prhartcom in 2015. Prhartcom's rationale seems to be based on the presumption that "and me" is always wrong and "and I" is always right, which is simply not the case. "Tintin and I are the subjects of this film" would be correct, while "Tintin and me are the subjects..." would be incorrect. But on the other hand we have "This film is about Tintin and me"; "This film is about the history of Tintin and me"; "This film depicts the relationship between Tintin and me" — "Tintin and I" would be wrong in each of these sentences. The links to PBS and YouTube no longer work. In any case, I don't think the translation used in the DVD subtitles should necessarily indicate the correct title for the article. Even otherwise educated native speakers of English often seem to use "and I" when they mean "and me", so it's unsurprising that someone translating from the French might make this error as well. Lately, the page was previously moved with no discussion on a single user's good faith request but to an amibiguous (this is not the only Thessaloniki airport) and non-official name on dubious WP:OR usage of WP:commonname. The WP:COI demands of the author of the work (see previous abortive RfC, and thread at top of this page) are irrelevant (see WP:OFFICIALNAME). Wikipedia does not mimic marketing capitalization gimmicks like "SONY" and "macy's". It would have to be shown that the capitalization in the title serves some kind of semantic purpose (e.g. is an acronym) in order for Wikipedia to ever put this in SCREAMING ALL-CAPS. A very large number of modern books, films, and other works are marketed in all-capitals on the covers, in print ads, etc., and we do not imitate this over-stylization. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 00:10, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
A simple Google search will show you that Fail Mary is the most common name for this entire topic and that the current name, although very descriptive, is not commonly used. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 15:48, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Major Crimes → Major Crimes (TV series) – the capitalised form is arguably best most likely to refer to the concept of a major crime, which has several uses as set out at Major crimes (disambiguation). If there is primary topic for the capitalised form of this title, is probably either the crimes defined as Major Crimes by the Major Crimes Act (an 1885 Act of the US Congress still in force today) or the Major Case Squads of police forces, which are often known as Major Crimes units.
A long-term broad concept title such as this should not be usurped by a minor contemporary TV show. That is both WP:RECENTISM and a systemic bias towards popular culture. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 11:37, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
It should be noted that on their website, the studio refers to themselves more as "kurzgesagt" more than "in a nutshell" [1], and on social media their name is simply "Kurzgesagt" on Facebook and Twitter [2][3]. In addition, there are over 12.9 million results on Google for "Kurzgesagt" [4], meaning that the name alone is prevalent without the "in a nutshell" subtitle. There is no need for the subtitle in order to create a more precise article title, as there is no other topic currently covered by Wikipedia that shares the Kurzgesagt name; the name itself is a redirect to this article. – PhilipTerryGraham (talk · articles · reviews) 21:41, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – List of Phineas and Ferb characters → List of Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy's Law characters – Milo Murphy's Law was presented from the outset as being set in the same fictional universe as Phineas and Ferb, in fact in and around the same area and set after the events of the original series; Milo Murphy's Law character Melissa Chase is retroactively established as being one of the onlooking bystanders in the first episode of Phineas and Ferb, explained as having a fear of rollercoasters as a result. In the first season finale of Milo Murphy's Law, the character of Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz shows up, the more typical Phineas and Ferb crossover episode being the second season premiers. After this crossover, the characters of Doofenshmirtz, Perry the Platypus, Major Monogram and Carl joined the cast of Milo Murphy's Law on a permanent basis, in a recurring capacity for all except Doofenshmirtz, whose capacity is a supporting to borderline main one. Since then, even minor characters from Phineas and Ferb, such as Jeremy Johnson, have appeared in the occasional episode of Milo Murphy's Law. Given characters' story arcs are being continued from Phineas and Ferb, it makes the most sense to have both character pages be one, rather than having character information split across two pages once Milo Murphy's Law would have received its own individual page. This marks what the combined page would look like. Thank you. MacCready (talk) 16:09, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
While I favoured having the town at the base name serving as a broad concept article at Talk:Antrim, County Antrim#Requested move 5 November 2018 and Talk:Donegal (town)#Requested move 23 March 2019 the consensus in both of those cases was that the town was not primary. In the case of Antrim the town has a population of 20,001, and the county-618,108. With Antrim, New Hampshire only has 2,637 (the others don't have stated populations). In the case of Donegal the town has a population of 2,618 and the county 159,192. While Donegal, Pennsylvania only has 116 and is named after the Irish town. Donegal, Perth County, Ontario is also named after the Irish town and doesn't have a stated population. In both cases the towns of Antrim and Donegal could function as WP:DABCONCEPTS for the counties and thus would be by far the most populated/significant but there was consensus against that. In the case of Longford the town has a population of 10,008 and the county has 40,873. Longford, Coventry has 18,538, Longford, Derbyshire has 349, Longford, Gloucestershire 1,218, Longford (ward) has 12,163, Longford, Newport has 102, Longford, Warrington has 8,012, Longford, Victoria has 929, Longford, Tasmania has 3,863 and Longford, Kansas has 75 (total 45, 249). There is also Longford (film) and several other places such as Longford, London that don't have population data. Longford, County Longford and Longford Town F.C. have 6, 191 views combined while the others have 4,123. [[14]] [[15]]. This isn't a WP:POINTy nomination but based on the previous consensus, if a town that has a county named after it and a few small places isn't primary then a town that has a county and some unrelated places that exceed even the county's population clearly isn't primary. I have chosen Longford, County Longford as the target like Category:Wexford, County Wexford due to the fact that Longford, Tasmania and Longford, Victoria are also towns and thus would be WP:PDABs and fail WP:PRECISION however I'm happy for Longford (town) to redirect to the Irish town or we could use Longford (Irish town). All of Access's most notable and widely-covered titles, including Beach Head, the Tex Murphy series and the bulk of the Links series, we developed under the company's original name. Its name changed three times during the last seven years of its existence, as ownership passed between other companies. - (Discuss) – The Midlands → Midlands – My primary reason for this proposal is that I believe that the title violates WP:THE. In The Hague, for instance, "The" is treated as an integral part of the name and is written in uppercase even in the middle of a sentence. But for the Netherlands, that is not the case. I think the Midlands are much more similar to the Netherlands in this respect. Note that the region is frequently referred to as "Midlands" alone in titles, which would be impossible if "The" were an inseparable part of the name. As the disambiguation page is in the way, something has to be done about it. Personally, I'd favor just asserting primacy as this page gets 10x the pageviews of the next contender, Midlands Region, Ireland. However, I would also regard moving the current page to Midlands (England) as superior to the present situation, as my intention is not to make this a dispute about the primary topic of "Midlands" but rather a proposal to remove "The" from the title. Their athletics website is also called UConnHuskies.com, they use UConn instead of Connecticut branding pretty much exclusively in sports, and ESPN uses UConn in their standings tables. However, CBSSports.com, Yahoo, and FoxSports.com all use Connecticut. A google search of UConn Huskies returns 9.6 million results, whereas Connecticut Huskies returns 6.4 million. Also of note, "UConn" is found 77 times in this very article, compared to 41 cases of "Connecticut". See WP:Common name. - (Discuss) – Department of Transport (Victoria, 2008–13) → Department of Transport, Planning and Local Infrastructure – The Department of Transport, Planning and Local Infrastructure link redirects to this page. However this page currently covers the previous incarnation of DOT prior to 2013. The start date of 2008 is also suspicious as stated in previous section on this talk page, hence the title of this page should not contain the year "2008" unless verified. The Department of Transport, Planning and Local Infrastructure is the last incarnation of the department prior to merging into Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources, hence it should be the new name of this article. It can be mentioned in the header paragraph something along the lines of "Prior to 2013, it was simply known as (or replaced) '''Department of Transport''', which in turn replaced the Department of Infrastructure in 2008". The current DOT wikipage will then simply be named as Department of Transport (Victoria), replacing the existing disambiguation page. This is because, anyone typing Department of Transport (Victoria) into the search box is probably searching for the current DOT and not a past/defunct DOT. It is also unusual for an existing and current organisation/agency to include years in the title. An {{About}} tag can be added to the top of the current DOT page instead, linking to the old DOT wikipage and the Transport for Victoria page, replacing the function of the disambiguation page. - (Discuss) – KCAP (defunct) → KCAP (1340 AM) – This RM follows from a recently concluded RfC. It proposes 11 page moves to change (defunct) disambiguators to more specific ones for radio station articles in the United States. In these cases, stations later used the callsigns in the same city or metropolitan area, making disambiguation by either frequency or time a must. I've chosen frequency in most cases, though time is more appropriate for the oldest stations to be considered: KFIO, WMH and WSM-FM. Raymie (t • c) 06:01, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Wikipedia:Community portal → Wikipedia:Community gateway – I propose this move because of the controversy around the Portal: namespace, and the danger of confusion (this in NOT a portal in the sense that the pages in the Portal: namespace are), It would be unfortunate if the strong feelings about Portal:'s tarred this heavily used page, which is a great asset to Wikipedia collaboration. I recommend this move regardless of the outcome of the concurrent page redesign RfC discussion. And of course with any move the relevant page and template content would be changed to match ("Welcome to the Community gateway!", etc.) UnitedStatesian (talk) 05:54, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – WLQR (AM) → ? – This one is confusing for people without a background in radio, so let's try and explain it simply. In 2010, Cumulus Media, a large owner of radio stations, sold a station known as WTOD in Toledo, Ohio. It desired to keep the WTOD callsign, so it parked it on the former WHSC in Hartsville, South Carolina, which it owned. In March 2016, the South Carolina station switched callsigns with 1470 AM in Toledo, then known as WLQR, and then a week later surrendered its license, having used the WLQR calls for just a week. Six months later, the Toledo AM station followed suit after trading its calls with an FM station (creating a WLQR AM which went defunct and a WTOD FM which is still around). The result: two defunct stations, including one article with an unusual nonstandard disambiguator. Proposals I'd like to consider: *Proposal 1 :*Defunct Ohio station: WLQR (Ohio) :*Defunct South Carolina station: WLQR (South Carolina) *Proposal 2 :*Defunct Ohio station: WLQR (AM) :*Defunct South Carolina station: WTOD (South Carolina), last callsign used for more than a week *Proposal 3 :*Defunct Ohio station: WLQR (AM) :*Defunct South Carolina station: WHSC (Hartsville, South Carolina), using the station's only callsign until it was used to warehouse calls for Toledo (it was used for 64 of the station's 70 years of broadcasting) I'm not sure which is right, but something has to be better than the current placement. - (Discuss) – KAPY-LP (defunct) → KAPY-LP (Port Angeles, Washington) – This RM follows from a recently concluded RfC. It proposes 70 page moves to change (defunct) disambiguators to more specific ones for radio station articles in the United States. In some cases, a disambiguator is being removed with the article reverting to the default (AM) disambiguator used when a station needs to be distinguished from a similarly-called FM or TV. In others, the disambiguator is the state, or if there is currently another station operating with the callsign in the state, the city and state. In a few cases, it is a city disambiguator. Separate RMs are planned to cover defunct stations where I have determined the best disambiguator is a year period or a frequency. In some cases, articles aren't listed because they are instead planned to be merged into other pages. A defunct station with a different disambiguator, WRCR (radio station), is also included as it is inadequate to differentiate from other radio stations with the callsign. - (Discuss) – Digital terrestrial television in the United States → Digital television in the United States – I have two contentions with this article's recent rename by Bankster: * The lede suggests the scope of the article is not merely broadcast television, mentioning cable and satellite services, so the rename actually is not in sync with the article's contents. * While I understand that the term "digital terrestrial television" is used in other parts of the world, it wasn't ever used in the United States. - (Discuss) – Carbost, Portree → Carbost, Trotternish – Per WP:UKPLACE we do not disambiguate by post town (assuming that Portree is its post town), Carbost isn't part of Portree in any way but is merely near to it, for example its not part of the BUASD or the parish (assuming that the parish still exists and Scottish parishes don't have much current status anyway). Compare this to Goodnestone, Dover which while not part of the BUASD or parish is part of the district. While Carbost, Loch Harport isn't ideal it is at least on Loch Harport. While Carbost, Trotternish also doesn't seem ideal since it appears to be on the edge of Trotternish it at least appears to be the most suitable form of disambiguation. - (Discuss) – Russell Investments → Frank Russell Company – As the step 1 of the proposed split (see above thread). This article was mostly about "Frank Russell Company", the central company of the former Russell group, not the subsidiary Russell Investments. Thus the article title should reflect this first to retain the purpose of this wiki article as an article for a company/group before 2015 split. LSEG only sold Russell Investments the second-tier subsidiary, not the subsidiary Frank Russell Company and all its subsidiaries. (see press release: "Frank Russell Company's asset management business ('Russell Investments')") The index provider "Russell" was "merged" or now sharing a trading name FTSE Russell with FTSE Group, thus future and current event of Russell as indexer should go to FTSE Russell. - (Discuss) – Pange lingua gloriosi corporis mysterium → Pange lingua – By far the more commonly known of the hymns in the English speaking world because of its association with Aquinas, the traditional use of its various parts in Eucharistic adoration, and the fact that is is sung on Maundy Thursday in Roman Catholic liturgies, making it one of the single most visible and noticeable Catholic hymns of all time. The current page at Pange lingua is little more than a glorified disambiguation page, and I'd suggest it could likely be G6'd and a hatnote added to this page to point to the other hymn. A misplaced attempt to request a move on the article was made with the rationale "the French name is used much more often and people are more familiar with it, therefore it makes sense to change it because it is confusing". - (Discuss) – Boe-OFT → Boeing Orbital Flight Test – While the missions may have been acronymically known as "Boe-OFT" and "Boe-CFT" internally by NASA, contemporary internal documentation now refers to Boeing by its full name without hyphens, designating the missions as "Boeing OFT" or "Orbital Flight Test", and "Boeing CFT" or "Crewed Flight Test" [1][2]. The full name of the missions would be both precise enough by Wikipedia's standards, and would be the commonly recognisable names. For the Boeing Orbital Test Flight, it is also the official name. For Boeing Crewed Test Flight, while NASA has recently opted to use "Crew" instead of "Crewed" [3], it seems the latter is more commonly used, with SpaceNews [4], Bloomberg [5], GeekWire [6], Houston Chronicle [7], and CNBC [8]. – PhilipTerryGraham (talk · articles · reviews) 00:35, 17 March 2019 (UTC)--Relisting. - (Discuss) – Charlestown Bridge → North Washington Street Bridge (Boston) – The bridge in Boston was renamed by the city in 1910 (see labeled page 4). The new name seems to be consistently used by the state and the city (including the mayor).[2] Local media also uses the new name.[3][4][5][6][7][8]
Update: The Charlestown Bridge was also the name of a weekly newspaper serving this area, which merged to become the Charlestown Patriot-Bridge in 2005.[9][10] This might result in some ambiguity when identifying usage of the name "Charlestown Bridge"; in fact, information about the newspaper and the bridge are conflated on several mapping/travel websites (see discussion).
The bridge in DeWitt, Arkansas is on the National Register of Historic Places. Its title needs to be disambiguated from the bridge in Boston.
