Jack TV (visually rendered in all capital letters as JACK TV) is a 24-hour Filipino cable and satellite television network based in Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City. It is owned by Solar Entertainment Corporation, and was test launched on May 5, 2005, officially debuting on July 12, 2005. It is available through pay TV providers such as Cablelink, G Sat and Cignal.
It offers Western comedy, animation, drama series and reality shows as well as teens' television programs from The CW, CBS, FOX, NBC, Bravo, FX, Syfy, E!, TBS, Comedy Central, ABC, USA Network, A&E, WGN America, Oxygen, and Netflix.
History
The station was formed as part of the discontinuation of Solar USA and its split into two networks. Comedy, drama, and reality shows moved to Jack TV, and the other programming was maintained on the new network C/S (now Solar TV).
However, when Solar TV was replaced by Talk TV (now CNN Philippines, owned and operated by Nine Media Corporation together with Radio Philippines Network), Jack TV reverted to its Solar USA programming while maintaining some of the programming that made it a staple in its early years.
On October 20, 2012, Solar Entertainment launched its secondary channel Jack CITY on BEAM TV, replacing CHASE. The channel was later re-branded as CT.
On April 10, 2017, Jack TV was Dropped by Sky Cable & Destiny Cable along with Basketball TV, CT, Solar Sports & NBA Premium TV.
Program distribution
Jack TV has its own and distinct programming generally aimed to a younger adult audience. Yet, its limitation as a pay TV channel, as well as frequency regulations on over-the-air television, allow the channel to lend some of their popular programs to sister channels ETC and 2nd Avenue (both having strong operations on terrestrial television), either simultaneously or time-shifted.
