15:00:40, 16 July 2016 review of submission by Aalnafia
Aalnafia (talk) 15:00, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
I have made a page about someone who's very notable in Riyadh city, his name is Khalid Bin Hamad Abuhaimed. I would love you to approve his page that I have made yesterday which you declined it early this morning.
Kindest regards, Abdulrahman Alnafia
-
- Do you mean Draft:Khalid Hamad abuhaimed? It has no references, and that is why it was declined. If he was well known in Riyadh, you should be able to find references to him in Saudi newspapers and magazines. We can accept references in Arabic (or other foreign languages). It is up to the author to establish that the subject is notable, via reliable sources. Robert McClenon (talk) 20:17, 16 July 2016 (UTC)

Hello, I really need assistance to publish with my clients WiKi Page. I first was told that I needed news coverage on the page, Then I updated it accordingly also even added his notable accomplishments. Then second I was told to tone down the promotional tone of the page. And here is where I'm get stuck at. I give you the rights to correct what needs to be corrected because I'm totally Stumped At This Time. Please correct his page properly & publish this WiKi Page. My client is a very well known Actor/Entertainer/Model. He has broken many records & continues to do so. Also he is related a Legend. Please fix this page properly and publish. We would really appreciate that. Right now our hands are tied in confusion & desperately need your assistance, Thank You!

- It sounds as if you may be writing in the wrong style. A professional writer should also be able to write in different styles, and also to use grammatically correct complete sentences. Examples of words or phrases that should not appear are: "Legendary", "unique", "the best of them", "Not just in ... but especially ...", Scene, "a new bright beginning of acceptance", using capitals on every word in a sentence, using all capitals in names, "most if not all major". See WP:Peacock for what kind of writing to avoid. We are going to have to have references that are not user generated content (ie not Wikipedia, YouTube or IMDB). The reference that shows that number of visitors to Las Vegas increases makes no mention of the person having boosted the numbers, so yo will need a better reference to prove that. The spelling and grammatical errors are not the reason that this was declined. But if you are writing this for money I would advise you that Wikipedia is highly visible, and everything should be correct. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:25, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
-
- I have a small point beside the tone issues, and the notability issues. In the third paragraph, you used capitalization in a way that is Unconventional In English, and Capitalized Almost Every Word. If your native language is English, you may have done that on purpose for emphasis, but it isn't appropriate in Wikipedia, and is similar but, but more obvious than, peacock language. (It isn't as bad as ALL CAPITALS, but it isn't appropriate.) Robert McClenon (talk) 14:04, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
-
Thank you for your insight on the corrections needed. Also, I'm Phillips manager & I'm not being compensated to write this WiKi page. The grammer we can fix, but your saying it's rejected because his name or commercial wasn't mentioned in the Las Vegas count of more visitors in 2014 website makes it a not strong enough reference. I could understand that. But, on the Ispot website it credits Phillip as a actor in that commercial (The Check Out). Also, The commercial was one of the reasons why we seen the spike of visitors of all types in that year. I believe I seen a article that says that commercial was a reason why Las Vegas had the most visitors ever that year, and the folks in charge of the Las Vegas visitors are stating that in this article I'm speaking of. The Fox 5 news made a article and broadcasted about the commercial. (Already listed as a reference). So, if I can find the article stating the spike in visitors was because of the commercial and/or is one of the reasons why we seen the increase, would that & the grammer corrections be sufficient enough to correct the issues of the page i'm having & could get his WiKi published then? Because Ispot covers him as a credited actor in the commercial & Fox 5 covered the news about the commercial, So all what I would need is that article?

- The most obvious flaw with the draft is that it fails to state what Hall is notable for. The opening section claims that he is related to Sheila Lambert and Jimi Hendrix, but provides no reliable source for either claim, and anyway notability is not inherited. - Draft:Melissa Ede ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Hello and thank you for any help i may receive in trying to create this page. I believe miss Ede is notable as in the term of a known transgender female. She has been in major newspaper articles and tv worldwide which there is plenty of evidence online. I think its important to have LGBTAdvocates visible so as to help others in the same situation as her.
She continues to show visability by tv and other media. In no way am i saying everything she has done is good as some of it is very controversial. But i do believe she deserves a place on here to carty on Advocating. I am not very good at this as only know basic computer skills so really would appreciate any help of people who are very experienced on here. Thank you very much in anticipation Rachael Dudding
RachaelDudding (talk) 16:52, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
- There are a few problems with the draft, both as to establishing notability and as to tone. The references are poorly formatted. The tone is too informal for Wikipedia. The comments about her going to Mars are initially very confusing, until one reads that she was simply on a list of people who applied to go to Mars. Put the references into standard in-line (footnote) form, and organize the draft in the way that existing Wikipedia articles are organized. She does not deserve a place in Wikipedia to carry on advocating. That isn't what Wikipedia is for. If she is notable, she deserves a place in Wikipedia to summarize what has already been written about her. If you have any more questions, we will try to answer.

- I can see that you are finding Wikipedia's formatting to be difficult. The problems with your draft that have caused it to be declined have to do with formatting in general and with references in particular. At this point, rather than offer you specific advice, my suggestion is that you play WP:The Wikipedia Adventure to get practice in editing. Robert McClenon (talk) 21:55, 18 July 2016 (UTC)

Hi, wondering if all of the articles/books we have sourced are considered reliable? If not, hoping we can find out which ones are not reliable. Also, wondering how many more sources we will need. Thank you. Aswieconek (talk) 20:55, 18 July 2016 (UTC)

- The comment that I have does not have to do with the sources, which look reliable, but that the article needs to be edited to add links to other articles, such as the articles about notable people who are listed as having been photographed by him. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:33, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

- Do you want to resubmit Draft:Victoria Brynner? Try editing it and see if you can submit it. (It doesn't appear to have been submitted in the first place.) Robert McClenon (talk) 21:44, 18 July 2016 (UTC)

- @Laura bachrach: Please don't remove earlier AfC reviews or their associated comments. One of the many reasons not to do so is that the resubmission process is built into those reviews (the bright blue button in the big pink box). Old reviews will be removed automatically if and when the draft is approved. Before resubmitting, clarify the sources. The |last= and |first= parameters are for the names of the authors, not the name of the subject. Also, aim for at least three in-depth, independent, reliable sources. Time qualifies, but I'm not so sure about JustLuxe.com. --Worldbruce (talk) 02:41, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

Knowledge searcher 1 (talk) 01:03, 19 July 2016 (UTC) I tried to submit an article, so that one seeking information on a certain person would not be redirected to a page on a celebrity rapist. It was denied, even though it came from recognized and reliable sources: even from the person themselves, and with references. So, where are the mistakes, other then I wasted my time dealing with people who will only allow themselves and their friends to submit articles. As many articles on the internet is stating about Wikipedia descending to an oligarchy, which after this experience I am starting to believe and agree with. Below is my article show me my mistakes and how to correct them.By the way I took the example for this article from an article that was published.

09:26:22, 19 July 2016 review of submission by BN Berlin
Is it possible to use sources in a different language than english? And would you accept sources like stock market information and such?
- Hi BN Berlin. Non-English sources are fine, although equivalent English ones are preferred when available. The answer to your second question depends on what you mean by "stock market information and such", and on how those sources are used. To demonstrate notability, the draft needs in-depth, independent, reliable, secondary sources. For companies, this usually means articles with at least several paragraphs directly about them in major financial publications like The Financial Times, Les Échos and Focus Money, or mainstream newspapers and magazines like Tageblatt, Le Monde, and Der Spiegel. A stock quote is of little use because it is not in-depth. Stock analysts' published reports can demonstrate notability, as long as they contain substantive analysis and don't merely repeat information supplied by the company (such as from their annual report). Browse Wikipedia's featured articles about business for examples of the range of sources that can be used. --Worldbruce (talk) 18:50, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

I was wondering if I can use my sandbox to create another Wikipedia page while my "Ilona Kronstein" draft is awaiting review. Rotide123 (talk) 16:35, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Rotide123: Yes, you may. When the draft was moved to Draft:Ilona Kronstein, your sandbox became a redirect to the draft. It often isn't obvious to new editors how to turn their redirected sandbox back into an ordinary sandbox. Click User:Rotide123/sandbox. Because it is a redirect, it will take you to the draft, but in small letters under the name of the draft will be the text (Redirected from User:Rotide123/sandbox). Click that link to go to the sandbox itself.
- Edit the sandbox and replace:
#REDIRECT [[Draft:Ilona Kronstein]]
{{R from move}}

What parts should I be looking at to include or not include?Merv MC (talk) 10:34, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Merv MC. The most important things to include are multiple, in-depth, independent, reliable, secondary sources. Wikipedia is user-generated, so it is not a reliable source and should not be used as a reference. You may find it useful to study Sleepy Hollow Country Club, which is an example of a good golf club and course article. --Worldbruce (talk) 13:05, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

I have reviewed, improved and moved a draft article to List of longest train services in India. I assessed it keeping WP:NTT in mind, but in this case, I believe that this list is not just copied and pasted from the time table but provides some meaningful information. I cannot find the "approve" button in the relevant template and hope that another Wikipedian will press it on my behalf. --NearEMPTiness (talk) 12:03, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
NearEMPTiness (talk) 12:03, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
- Hi NearEMPTiness, I'm afraid you've created extra work for other people. 1 You are not a registered reviewer, thus you do not have the required reviewing script tool. 2 The draft author has not yet submitted the draft for review. 3 If it had been submitted in its current state it would have to be declined as there are no WP:INDEPENDENT WP:RELIABLE SOURCES cited in the draft, thus it does not yet pass WP:NOTABILITY. -- Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 17:40, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

Hello AfC helpdesk
I submitted this page on 12 July 2016 and everything seemed to go smoothly.
However I note that the page no longer has an awaiting review notification and the resubmit button is now prominent.
Can you please confirm that this page is in the queue? Or do I need to resubmit it?
Many thanks in advance.

- Hi RobbieIanMorrison, the page history does not show a resubmition on 12 July, you have however done a number of edits since the previous review on 6 July. So, yes, you do need to hit that blue button. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 23:13, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

- Many thanks for the quick reply. I have just resubmitted the article as you suggested. RobbieIanMorrison (talk) 23:19, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

I understand this type of writing is not my strength so I need some pointers on writing in a neutral tone. I went to the Teahouse as suggested and cannot find a way to contact anyone listed. I went to the IRC chat and got some very judgmental people who were talking down to me so I left. How can I reach out to someone for some pointers on how to clean up my entry? Thanks.
