Requested moves is a process for requesting the retitling (moving) of an article, template, or project page on Wikipedia. (For retitling files, categories and other items, see When not to use this page.) Please read the article titling policy and the guideline regarding primary topics before moving a page or requesting a page move.
Any autoconfirmed user can use the Move function to perform most moves (see Help:How to move a page). If you have no reason to expect a dispute concerning a move, be bold and move the page. However, it may not always be possible or desirable to do this:
- Technical reasons may prevent a move: a page may already exist at the target title and require deletion, or the page may be protected from moves. See: § Requesting technical moves.
- A title may be disputed, and discussion may be necessary to reach consensus: see § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves. The requested move process is not mandatory, and sometimes, an informal discussion at the article's talk page can help reach consensus.
- Unregistered users and new (not yet autoconfirmed) users are unable to move pages.
Requests are generally processed after seven days. If a consensus is reached after this time, a mover will enact the request. If not, the request may be re-listed to allow more time for consensus to develop, or be as "no consensus". See Wikipedia:Requested moves/Closing instructions for more details on the process.
The Move review process can be used to contest a move. It is designed to evaluate a contested close of a move discussion to determine if the close was reasonable, or whether it was inconsistent with the spirit and intent of Wikipedia common practice, policies, or guidelines.

When not to use this page
Separate processes exist for moving certain types of pages, and for changes other than page moves:
- Making an uncontroversial move – if you can, do it yourself! If you can't, see § Requesting technical moves.
- Renaming a category – propose the move at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.
- Renaming a stub template – propose the move at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.
- Renaming an image or other file – see Wikipedia:Moving a page § Moving a file page.
- Moves from draft namespace or user space – (new/unconfirmed users only) add
{{subst:submit}}
to the top of the article. - Merging two articles – make a request at Wikipedia:Proposed mergers, or be bold and do it yourself.
- Requesting that page histories be merged – list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge.
- Contesting a move request close – use the Wikipedia:Move review process.
Undiscussed moves
Anyone can be bold and move a page without discussing it first and gaining an explicit consensus on the talk page. If you consider such a move to be controversial, and the new title has not been in place for a long time, you may revert the move. If you cannot revert the move for technical reasons then you may request a technical move.
Move wars are disruptive, so if you make a bold move and it is reverted, do not make the move again. Instead, follow the procedures laid out in § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves.
Requesting technical moves
If you are unable to complete a technical move, request it below.
- To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code filling in pages and reason:
{{subst:RMassist| old page name, without brackets | requested name, without brackets |reason= reason for move}}
- This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
- Alternatively, if the only obstacle to an uncontroversial move is another page in the way, you can ask for the deletion of the other page. For example, if the other page is currently a redirect to the article to be moved, a redirect with no incoming links, or an unnecessary disambiguation page with a minor edit history. To request the other page be deleted, add the following code to the top of the page that is in the way:
{{db-move| page to be moved here | reason for move}}
- This will list the undesired page for deletion under criterion for speedy deletion G6. If the page is a redirect, place the code above the redirection. For a list of articles being considered for uncontroversial speedy deletion, see Category:Candidates for uncontroversial speedy deletion.
Uncontroversial technical requests
- (-)-2β-(3-(4-Methylphenyl)isoxazol-5-yl)-3β-(4-chlorophenyl)tropane → RTI-336 (move (@subpage)) – It has a proper name, no reason for the ugly IUPAC title. Can't move it myself sadly. – Aethyta (talk) 06:58, 22 July 2016 (UTC)
- Template:The Voice Of China → Template:The Voice of China (move (@subpage)) – grammar. removing the caps from the letter 'o' in the word "of" – DerricktanJCW (talk) 09:49, 22 July 2016 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
- Pitchfork (website) → Pitchfork Media (move (@subpage)) – On 15 July 2016, the page was moved without proper RM discussion. The previous discussions were closed as no consensus (2009) and no move (2015). – 153.173.68.85 (talk) 06:55, 22 July 2016 (UTC)
- Template:Pitchfork → Template:Pitchfork Media (move (@subpage)) – Same as above. – 153.173.68.85 (talk) 06:55, 22 July 2016 (UTC)
Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves
The discussion process is used for potentially controversial moves. The move is potentially controversial if any of the following apply:
- There is an existing article (not just a redirect) at the target title;
- There has been any past debate about the best title for the page;
- Someone could reasonably disagree with the move.
Use this process if there is any reason to believe a move would be contested. In particular, use this process before moving any existing page with incoming links to create a disambiguation page at that title. For technical move requests (e.g. spelling and capitalization fixes), see Requesting technical moves.
Do not put more than one open move request on the same article talk page, because this is not supported by the bot that handles updates to this page. Multiple closed move requests may be on the same page, but each should have a unique section heading.
Requesting a single page move
To request a single page move, edit at the bottom of the talk page of the article you want moved, without adding a new header, inserting this code:
{{subst:Requested move|NewName|reason=Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please present Google Books or Google News Archive results before providing other web results. Do not sign this.}}
Replace NewName
with the requested new name of the page (or with a question mark, if you want more than one possible new name to be considered). The template will automatically create the heading "Requested move 22 July 2016" and sign for you.
Use the code |talk=yes
to add separate locations for survey and discussion.
Note: Unlike other request processes on Wikipedia, such as RfC, nominations need not be neutral. Make your point as best you can; use evidence (such as Ngrams and pageview statistics) and refer to applicable policies and guidelines, especially our article titling policy and the guideline on disambiguation and primary topic.
WikiProjects may subscribe to Article Alerts to receive RM notifications, e.g. this page is transcluded to here. RMCD bot notifies many of the other Wikiprojects listed on the talk page of the article to be moved to invite project members to participate in the RM discussion. Requesters should feel free to notify any other Wikiproject or Noticeboard that might be interested in the move request.
Requesting multiple page moves
A single template may be used to request multiple related moves. On one of the talk pages of the affected articles, create a request and format it as below. A sample request for three page moves is shown here (for two page moves, omit the lines for current3 and new3). For four page moves, add lines for current4 and new4, and so on. There is no technical limit on the number of multiple move requests, but before requesting very large multi-moves, consider whether a naming convention should be changed first. Discuss that change on the talk page for the naming convention, e.g., Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (sportspeople).
{{subst:requested move
| new1 = New title for page 1 with the talk page hosting this discussion
| current2 = Current title of page 2
| new2 = New title for page 2
| current3 = Current title of page 3
| new3 = New title for page 3
| reason = Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please present Google Books or Google News Archive results before providing other web results. Do not sign this.}}
For example, to propose moving the articles Wikipedia
and Wiki
, put this template on Talk:Wikipedia
, and replace current2
with Wiki
. The discussion for all affected articles is held on the talk page of the article at page 1 (Talk:Wikipedia
). Do not sign a request with ~~~~
as the template does this automatically. Do not skip pairs of numbers.
RMCD bot automatically places a notice section on the talk page of the additional pages that are included in your request, advising that the move discussion is in progress, where it is, and that all discussion for all pages included in the request should take place at that one location.

Commenting in a requested move
All editors are welcome to contribute to the discussion regarding a requested page move. It is a place for rational discussion of whether an article should be renamed.
There are a number of practices that most Wikipedians use in such discussions:
- When editors recommend a course of action, they usually do so in bold text, e. g., Support or Oppose, which is done by surrounding the word with three single quotes on each side, e.g.
'''Support'''
. - Start comments or recommendations on a new bulleted line (that is, starting with *), and sign them by adding
~~~~
to the end. If you are responding to another editor, put your comment directly below theirs, making sure it is indented (using multiple *s). - Please disclose whether you have a vested interest in the article, per WP:AVOIDCOI.
- Please have a look at the article before making a recommendation. Do not base your recommendation solely on the information supplied by the nominator or other editors. To understand the situation, it may also help to look at the history of the article. However, please read the earlier comments and recommendations, as well as prior Requested Moves. They may contain relevant arguments and further useful information.
When participating, please consider the following:
- Ideally editors should be familiar with WP:Article titles, WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, and WP:MOS (among others) which sets forth community norms for article titles.
- The debate is not a vote; please do not make recommendations on the course of action to be taken that are not sustained by arguments.
- When making your case or responding to others, explain how the proposed article title meets/violates policy and guidelines rather than merely stating that it does so.
- Nomination already implies that the nominator supports the name change, and nominators should refrain from repeating this recommendation on a separate bulleted line.
- Do not make conflicting recommendations; if you change your mind, modify your original recommendation rather than adding a new one. The recommended way of doing this is to use strike-through by enclosing a retracted statement between <s> and </s> after the *, as in "•
SupportOppose".
Also, just a reminder that reasonable editors will sometimes disagree, but valid arguments will be given more weight than unsupported statements. When an editor offers arguments or evidence that do not explain how the proposed article title meets/violates policy, they may only need a reminder to engage in constructive, on-topic discussion. But a pattern of groundless opinion, proof by assertion, and ignoring content guidelines may become disruptive. If a pattern of disruptive behavior persists after efforts are made to correct the situation through dialogue, please consider a dispute resolution process outside the current Requested Move process.
Closing instructions
Any uninvolved editor in good standing may close a move request. Please read the closing instructions for information on how to close a move request.
Relisting
Relisting a discussion moves the request out of the backlog up to the current day in order to encourage further input. The decision to relist a discussion is best left to uninvolved experienced editors upon considering, but declining, to close the discussion. In general, discussions should not be relisted more than once before properly closing. Users relisting a debate which has already been relisted, or relisting a debate with a substantial discussion, should write a short explanation on why they did not consider the debate sufficient to close. While there is no consensus forbidding participation in a requested move discussion after relisting it, many editors consider it an inadvisable form of supervote. If you want to relist a discussion and then participate in it, be prepared to explain why you think it was appropriate.
Relisting can be done using {{subst:relisting}}
, which also signs it automatically, and is placed at the very end of the initial request (after their signature, and subsequent re-listers signatures).
When a relisted discussion reaches a resolution, it may be closed at any time according to the closing instructions; there is no required length of time to wait before closing a relisted discussion.
If discussion has become stale, or it seems that discussion would benefit from more input of editors versed in the subject area, consider more widely publicizing the discussion, such as to notify relevant WikiProjects of the discussion using the template {{RM notification}}. Applicable WikiProjects can often be determined by means of the banners placed at the top of the talk page hosting the move request.
- (Discuss) – Wikipedia:Credible claim of significance → User:Ego White Tray/Credible claim of significance – As the above RfC indicates, there isn't widespread support for this essay. It contradicts WP:INHERIT which is a more widely-accepted essay and it creates a really low bar for preventing CSD noms. Leaving this essay in the Wikipedia space creates a false veneer of community approval. Ego White Tray created this essay two and a half years ago and this should probably be userfied. - (Discuss) – British Empire in World War II → something else – The new name could be: *British Commonwealth in World War II *British Commonwealth and Empire in World War II or something else, or of course keeping the current name of just "British Empire in World War II", and let the closer decide which has the best argument and most support.
The arguments over changing or keeping are discussed exhaustively (and somewhat acerbically) above: Talk:British Empire in World War II#Empire or Commonwealth, usefully summarized here IMO: Talk:British Empire in World War II#Summary, where we see a strong majority favoring just "British Empire" (and the closer should peruse this section and count those voices, if they don't re-appear hear), but this was not formatted as a Requested Move so there was no final decision, so as promised I present this as such.
Just to point out, the question is for X in "X in World War II" where "X" is the name of political entity; the question of adding "Military history of..." or anything else of that nature has just been decided and is off the table. Herostratus (talk) 04:51, 22 July 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Civil Services → Civil Services of India – A couple of months ago, this article was moved by User:Filpro from this name which it has had for 6 years, without discussion but with the logic that there is no other article with this name. There is of course Civil service with which this name is easily confused because it is the plural of that phrase. I don't see why Civil Services should not be a redirect to "Civil service", especially when Civil services (which the mover also changed to make a point) and Civil Service also point there. To argue that this is the common name is to ignore the fact that there are numerous other civil services in other countries that could also claim to be commonly know as just "Civil Service" by the local population. Filpro has not explained why the Indian Civil Services are so special that they need such a generic title. Are they referred to by this name by anybody outside India? If anything Filpro should have made a move request when the article was moved back to its original name by another user last month. 92.40.248.157 (talk) 21:12, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Japanese post-war economic miracle → Japanese economic miracle – Per my argument above. We have a duty to make all article titles as "short, natural, distinguishable and recognizable" as possible. The term "Japanese economic miracle" is short, has some use as a WP:COMMONNAME in academic writing (examples: 1, 2 and 3), and fits neatly with the majority of other articles listed in Category:Post–World War II economic booms. As a result, I believe we should cut the unnecessary extra word. —Brigade Piron (talk) 18:57, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – National Gallery → National Gallery, London – See the arguments above and on EventHorizon51's talk page. I do not think the discussion was correctly concluded. Rococo1700 (talk) 16:03, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Benjamin Hedges → Ben Hedges – Ben Hedges is the most common name for Benjamin Hedges in all types of sources (books - Ben vs. Benjamin; newspapers - Ben vs. Benjamin; standard references like Sports-Reference) and thus a more appropriate article title. (Stupidly, I created the redirect blocking this move myself back in the day...) Sideways713 (talk) 15:18, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Bounce TV → Bounce (TV network) – Despite the website calling the network "Bounce TV", I don't believe that the word "TV" is part of the actual name. Billboard Man (talk) 14:02, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – List of British Columbia Provincial Parks → List of protected areas of British Columbia – I have tried to boldly move this myself, but List of protected areas of British Columbia used to be a redirect to List of municipal and regional parks in British Columbia. This required a technical speedy delete, but in the two times I have attempted to do this, the admins do the exact opposite of what I'm trying to do. So I am doing an RM here to try and explain my case out in detail to prevent confusion, and get community consensus. All other Canadian provincial and territorial lists of provincial parks are formatted with the same title: "List of protected areas of [province/territory]". I am expanding these lists to include other "protected areas" that are not "provincial parks", but are designated and maintain with similar protections, by similar agencies, as part of the broader provincial/territorial system. I have proposed deleting the redirect so that this article, "List of British Columbia Provincial Parks" could be moved to "List of protected areas of British Columbia" and therefore become consistent with other provincial and territorial lists. I have also ruled out merging the two due to the sheer size of content. --Natural RX 13:57, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – National character area → National Character Area – "National Character Area" is not a universal generic term like "nature reserve", but the specific proper name for an officially designated UK region. As such it is invariably spelt with capitals e.g. the official government site is titled "National Character Area profiles: data for local decision making." And of the 10 valid entries at Google Books, 9 spell it "National Character Area"; one uses "national Character Area" and none use the present article title. Examples of typical usage: "Map shows ecological network coverage as a proportion of each National Character Area" in Mapping Wilderness by Carver and Fritz; and "A recent example is a substantial study conducted with members of the public who live in, work in or close to, or visit selected landscape character areas drawn from the National Character Area framework." in Evaluation of Methodologies for Visual Impact Assessments by Churchward. - (Discuss) – Port Adelaide Football Club best and fairest → John Cahill Medal – This page was moved to the generic name of "Port Adelaide Football Club best and fairest" with the rationale of "the current award name of "John Cahill Medal" has only been in place since 1997 and ignores the rich history of the award"; there are numerous name changes of awards which do not "ignore" the history of the award, but they are simply a changed name. Many reliable sources use John Cahill Medal as the award name per [1], [2][3], [4], [5], [6] and the club even use John Cahill Medal [7], [8], and this is also in line with WP:NAMECHANGES. The navbox still uses "John Cahill Medal" per {{John Cahill Medal}} along with the category of winners Category:John Cahill Medal winners, another example of an award name change in the AFL was West Coast's best and fairest in 2013 to John Worsfold Medal and all relevant pages have been moved to the changed name. The photographer started as Rosalind Fox and did most of her work as Rosalind Solomon but in recent years seems to have been consistent in naming herself Rosalind Fox Solomon. (See for example her website.). This is a procedural nomination, I have no opinion. The text in green is by User:Hoary and I copied it from their original proposal. - (Discuss) – Link Light Rail → Link light rail – Sound Transit has updated its branding guidelines and no longer uses the terms we have used for Wikipedia articles. Light rail is not part of the Link name, with most news articles nowadays referring to the system as "Link light rail" or simply "Link". Additionally, "Central Link" refers to the project that built the initial 14-mile segment from downtown to the airport, and now that the line is extended to the University of Washington, Sound Transit has dropped the use of "Central" in its signage and online materials (e.g. schedules [referring to it as just "Link"). The May 2016 maps show that Sound Transit is already phasing in its "Red Line" branding despite the "Blue Line" (East Link) not opening until 2023. I am aware that we generally prefer full stops in name, but there is an exception in case An overwhelming majority of reliable sources do otherwise for that person. I checked the first 30 entries in a Google search and only one (other than the Wikipedia entry) used C.C.H. Pounder. The rest used CCH Pounder. I also note that her name appears in 123 articles as CCH Pounder: * NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series * Black Reel Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress, TV Movie or Limited Series * Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story * The Shield * Bagdad Café I won't list all 123 Only one of those articles: * Birdland (TV series) uses C.C.H. - (Discuss) – FC Alania Vladikavkaz → ? – For the 2016-17 season, there will be no team with the name 'FC Alania Vladikavkaz' in the Russian Professional Football League, the formally new team was organized and licensed under the name FC Spartak Vladikavkaz: http://www.championat.com/football/news-2509540-v-pervenstvo-pfl-budet-zajavlen-spartak-iz-vladikavkaza.html This is a bit of formality and technicality as it still will be owned by the local provincial government and the only reason there is no word "Alania" in the name is that the owners do not want to pay accumulated debts and they don't want the new club to be responsible for said debt. The new club will most likely be claiming the history of FC Alania Vladikavkaz, if not pay their debts. FC Alania Vladikavkaz was known in the past as FC Spartak Vladikavkaz and the redirect from FC Spartak Vladikavkaz to FC Alania Vladikavkaz currently exists. To complicate things, another Vladikavkaz team was called FC Spartak Vladikavkaz for one year only, see FC Spartak Vladikavkaz (2008). So I am not sure how best to proceed - create a completely new page for the formally "new" club organized in 2016 that will replace the current redirect for FC Spartak Vladikavkaz? Then every page that links to the "FC Spartak Vladikavkaz" redirect would have to be edited to point to FC Alania Vladikavkaz instead - you don't want a person clicking on the team name in some 1990s player's biography and getting to the 2016 club team's page. Call the new team's page FC Spartak Vladikavkaz (2016)? Not very convenient either. Any thoughts? Geregen2 (talk) 16:13, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Jack Schlossberg → Jack Kennedy Schlossberg – I want to give a background on why I am request this move in the first place. The original name of the page was "John Schlossberg", however, most reliable sources state that the young man and grandson of John F. Kennedy goes by "Jack" instead of his birth name of John. He also goes by Jack Schlossberg on Twitter. So there is no question whether we should name it John or Jack. It is whether we should name the article Jack Kennedy Schlossberg, which I am proposing (instead of doing a WP:BOLD move because it may be controversial). I believe it would be better to name it Jack Kennedy Schlossberg, even though he himself does not go by Kennedy, is because it is WP:COMMONNAME, which many reliable sources state him as Jack Kennedy Schlossberg (see [12][13][14][15][16][17]). Most of his fame comes from being the only grandson of John F. Kennedy and a heir of the family, anyway. That is why I propose moving it to Jack Kennedy Schlossberg. ✉cookiemonster✉ 𝚨755𝛀 21:19, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Walter Bishop (Fringe) → Walter Bishop – Walter Bishop, the fictional character from the television show Fringe, is the primary topic for the name Walter Bishop, getting the most views in the last 90 days (I can't add the link, for some reason it removes all of this text. Check it out for yourselve, please :o). The other two Walter Bishops, Walter Bishop Jr. and Walter Bishop Sr. are not primary topic, getting much less views than the fictional character. Besides, the other two Walter Bishop's do not go simply by "Walter Bishop", instead, they go by their name + a suffix at the end, while the fictional character does not have a suffix. Therefore, Walter Bishop the fictional character should be at "Walter Bishop" and a hatnote can solve any confusion. ✉cookiemonster✉ 𝚨755𝛀 20:31, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – List of rail accidents by country → List of rail incidents by country – The use of the term "accident" is loaded and often not correct. The term can be seen to imply that the event was unavoidable, when a chain of events that led to the incident often includes many actions that were in fact avoidable. As such, "accident" often violates WP:NPOV and is thus generally avoided by scientists. The term "incident" is neutral and should replace "accident". See also the related category discussion, where "road accidents" were renamed to "road incidents". I note that the Indian list already uses "incidents". As part of this mass move request, I have adjusted some of the titles to achieve a mostly common naming format (railway -> rail; train -> rail) using "List of rail incidents in Foo", but have left the "American railroad" terminology and the Australian naming convention unchanged. - (Discuss) – Battle of the Egadi Islands → Battle of the Aegates – This article concerns an important event in Roman history, and so most scholarly literature uses the Roman name, not a modern one. The article was originally created at "Battle of the Aegates Islands", and remained there for several years, until another editor moved it without discussion, claiming that this name was "far more common". This Google Ngram appears to demonstrate otherwise: there are no book hits at all under the present title. A regular Google search shows hits, but many fewer than at the original name or the proposed name. "Battle of the Aegates" should be preferable to "Battle of the Aegates Islands", since there are no other Aegates; the name is derived from the island of Aegusa (now Favignana), which is one of them. "Aegates Islands" is also unidiomatic in English, since Aegates is plural: we say "Bahamas" or "Bahama Islands", not "Bahamas Islands"; "Caymans" or "Cayman Islands", not "Caymans Islands"; so with the Balearics, Canaries, etc. The current page at this title is a simple redirect to this article, and it shouldn't be too hard to fix the other links here, as there are only a few dozen. - (Discuss) – Allegheny station (Broad Street Line) → ? – We need consistent disambiguators here. For some background, per WP:USSTATION, most SEPTA stations that require it are disambiguated by system - ie, (SEPTA) - but in some cases like these, SEPTA has multiple stations of one name, so we must disambiguate by line. In many areas, we just use whatever the line's article uses; in these cases that would be Broad Street Line and Market–Frankford Line. In a lengthy discussion here, Dream out loud suggested using "SEPTA Broad Street Line" and "SEPTA Market–Frankford Line" instead. This got some support, but it hasn't been consistently implemented, and both are still in use. This RM is an attempt to settle that. My personal preference is for the more concise disambiguators (XXX YYY Line), but I'm fine with (SEPTA XXX YYY Line) so long as it's consistent. - (Discuss) – Philippine Drug War → Rodrigo Duterte's campaign against illegal drugs – I know the article is longer, but the phrase "Philippine Drug War" (all words capitalized suggesting its a proper name of the campaign) is neologism. Unlike the "Mexican Drug War" this phrase has yet to be used extensively by academic sources. However I do acknowledge, that the creator of the article may have modeled the campaigns name to that of Mexico under good faith. Also it also implies that there was no crackdown on illegal drugs in the Philippines before. The previous RM, which was started before the album was released, failed largely because at that time there was no evidence the album is more significant than the song. Long-term significance is not a concern because the album and its title track are the only topics named "Dangerous Woman". The album has received 4x the page views of the song and is therefore the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for "Dangerous Woman". For obvious reasons, Dangerous Woman (disambiguation), A Dangerous Woman, Dangerous Women, etc. should remain targeted to the disambiguation page after this move. SSTflyer 14:07, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Teochew dialect → Teochew – #Teochew nowadays in English world, especially in SE Asia which is a main area that Teochew people inhabits in overseas, usually refers to the Teochew dialect, just like "Hokkien". This reason comes from my everyday life in Singapore, Internet evidences are also available, for example [24], [25], [26]. #Since Hokkien has a greater influence than Teochew, works on Hokkien in Wikipedia is much more better and completed than that in Teochew. In case of Hokkien, the page Hokkien refers to its dialect but not a disambiguation page, but Hokkien also has a proper disambiguation page to subdivide the usage of the term. #In SE Asia, people usually ask you "Can you speak Teochew?" but not "Can you speak Teochew dialect?", the use of Teochew referring dialect is conventionally adopted. #Currently the page Teochew redirects to Chaozhou (disambiguation), but Teochew does not refer to the Chaozhou city nowadays since CPC made a change in administrative divisions of former Teochew prefecture which established in Qing dynasty. During the end of Qing dynasty and ROC, which is a peak age that Teochew people started moving to SE Asia from China, Teochew refers to nine prefectures in eastern Guangdong which are Shantou(Swatow) city, Chaozhou(Teochew) city and Jieyang city nowadays under new administrative divisions of PRC. (清末民初,潮州概念已基本定型,这时潮州辖县共9个:即潮安(原称海阳)县、潮阳县、揭阳县、惠来县、普宁县、澄海县、饶平县、丰顺县、大埔县。(注:南澳县时为饶平县辖地,揭西县时为揭阳县辖地),现潮州市管辖原海阳县(后改名潮安)与饶平县。现揭阳市管辖原普宁市、揭阳县、惠来县。现汕头市管辖原潮阳县、澄海县(——南澳县建制于民国 时的1914年 ,潮州府时期未建县属饶平县管辖)). This reason also can be used for further change on page Teochew (disambiguation) based on the disambiguation page Chaozhou (disambiguation) currently. #Treating the term "Teochew"" just a romanisation of 潮州 which has a new Pingyin romanisation "Chaozhou" now, is not appropriate, "Chaozhou" is quite rarely used in English world when refering to Teochew which means the Chaoshan area nowadays in PRC. - (Discuss) – July 2016 Baghdad bombings → 2016 Karrada bombing – The title (as well as the first sentences) should be revised so it only refers to the Karrada bombing that killed 213+ people. The second bomb attack took place elsewhere in Baghdad and, with 5 deaths, is a common event that normally does not warrant an article on its own, as evidenced by the multiple other bomb attacks in Baghdad over the past few days. More importantly, the second attack does also not appear to have been directly linked to the Karrada attack. Referring to multiple bombings takes away from the severity of the Karrada attack. Furthermore, media outlets are now only referring to the Karrada bombing with no mention of the second one. Michael5046 (talk) 00:48, 5 July 2016 (UTC) --Relisting. - (Discuss) – Canon law (Catholic Church) → Catholic canon law – To introduce some WP:CONSISTENCY and improve PRECISION. This will (1) reconcile the inconsistency between Catholic canon law articles disambiguated imprecisely as (Catholic Church) with those disambiguated as (canon law), and (2) improve the precision of the (canon law) disambiguator by specifying that it is Catholic canon law in question. UPDATE: Per Randy Kryn's comments, I've amended the clerical celibacy entry. It did not deal primarily with canon law. The new nomination for that article's title addresses its WP:NATURAL issue. *Variants with fewer than 10 hits are not included. I may have missed a few. "Raymond Martini" is the single most common spelling. "Martini" with various first names is far more common than "Marti/Martí" and a bit more common than "Martin". "Raymond/Raymund" is also far more common than "Ramon/Ramón" or "Raymundus/Raimundus". The current form with accents on both names is quite uncommon. Based on these results, I propose a move to Raymond Martini. — AjaxSmack 16:48, 12 July 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Kodansha Comics USA → Kodansha USA – While working on Inuyashiki, I changed the text of to reflect what was stated in the given source and created a redirect from Kodansha Comics. However, after checking both the publisher's website[29] and other related news articles about the publisher, I see that "Kodansha Comics USA" is neither the official name nor the common name. The official name is simply "Kodansha Comics", which is an imprint of "Kodansha USA Publishing". News articles from Anime News Network and CrunchyRoll uses Kodansha Comics and Kodansha USA interchangeably. I even checked the copyright page of Shugo Chara vol 10, an early Kodansha USA publication, which states "Published in United States by Kodansha Comics, an imprint of Kodansha USA Publishing, LLC, New York". Per WP:COMMONNAME, this article should be moved to one of the two official names because "Kodansha Comics USA" is not used by either the company itself nor by any of the third-party sources that covers the company's publications and licensing announcements. —Farix (t | c) 13:06, 12 July 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Nu Virgos → VIA Gra – The new formation of the group uses the name "VIA Gra" since 2013 and no release of them has featured the old international name "Nu Virgos" ([36] [37]). Their social media pages and the official page use the name "VIA Gra" and therefore it suits better for search engines to find the article about the group. Of course, a note explaining that "Nu Virgos" was their name would be useful. As it can be seen in their discography, which I'm editing, the only notability their have received under the name "Nu Virgos" in terms of chart performance was in 2003 through their first English album Stop! Stop! Stop!, which charted in Finland and its title-track, which charted in Finland and Norway. The album was released in Japan, but didn't show any kind of reception in the region. The 2007 English album L.M.L. was released only in Russia and Ukraine. Even after different formations of the group, the group continues to release music in Russian under the name "VIA Gra", which is also their original name. The formation from 2013 on has released music in Russian and continues to use the name "VIA Gra". Lucas RdS (talk) 22:59, 30 June 2016 (UTC) --Relisting. Omni Flames (talk) 00:44, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Bishopric of Arad → Archdiocese of Arad – Recently, this page was moved to the current title with the rather bizarre rationale of "no such thing as Archdiocese of Arad". I'm not quite sure what the mover was thinking, because there very much is such a thing. If you take a look at its official site, you'll note that "arhi-" prefix. It means "arch", as in "archdiocese", a rank which it's held since 2009. As to the rest of the word, that tiresome debate over eeparchy/bishopric/diocese - well, "diocese" is standard English, which is why we use it for all similar divisions of the Romanian Orthodox Church. (Archdiocese of Bucharest, Archdiocese of Râmnic, Diocese of Caransebeș, Archdiocese of Vad, Feleac and Cluj, Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of America and Canada.) There is zero reason for an exception in this case, so I request we move back as soon as possible and end this silly experiment. @Jenks24:, @Andrewa:, as participants in the previous move request, you may wish to join this one as well. - (Discuss) – Ancient astronaut hypothesis → Ancient astronauts – "Ancient astronauts" is the WP:COMMONNAME, it's more WP:CONCISE, and is a better reflection of the article's scope per WP:PRECISE. Using my library's database to limit my search to peer-reviewed journals, "Ancient astronauts" gets a lot more hits than "Ancient astronaut hypothesis" (108 vs 8) and also without the peer-review filter (553 vs 17). "Ancient astronauts" already redirects here (singular and plural forms, with every combination of capitalization—which is more variations of redirects than we have for the current title). It's used in the plural form by academic sources more often than the singular form (108 vs ~40), so that's why I'm suggesting plural. IMO this article from 1984 in the journal American Speech supports moving the article to "Ancient astronauts". The summary blurb says: "'Among the New Words'. By Porter, Mary Gray, et al. Presents a list of new terms added to the American English vocabulary as of December 1984. Ancient astronaut; Backpack; Cabbage kid." (There were more words in the full list, and also definitions, but it made me laugh a little that those were the only 3 words in the summary.) It looks like the article was originally named "Ancient astronaut theory" until it was moved to "Ancient astronaut hypothesis" in 2008 by consensus (the normal definition, not WP:CONSENSUS necessarily), because editors thought "theory" was misleading and rejected OP's proposal for "ancient astronauts", partially to do with it being plural, but it's not clear to me if there were other reasons. IMO "hypothesis" lends the topic an air of scientific credibility that it doesn't receive in academic sources that, when they do use the whole phrase "Ancient alien hypothesis", it's either in scare quotes or preceded by "so-called". Plus, all of the academic sources that do use that phrase were journals related to religion studies, not science, with Numen and Nova Religio giving it the most coverage. —PermStrump(talk) 19:29, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Emmental cheese → Emmental – I think the cheese is the primary topic for Emmental, even if it is named after the valley. Page views show almost ten times the traffic for the cheese compared with any other of the contenders for the topic: [38]. Also Emmental is the proper WP:CONCISE and WP:COMMONNAME for the subject, rather than "Emmental cheese".[39][40] I'm open to suggestions about where the valley should go. Emmental valley seems natural enough, but could also be Emmental Valley, Emmental (valley), Emmental, Bern, Emmental, Switzerland etc. — Amakuru (talk) 08:24, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Southern Cross Nine → Southern Cross Ten – SCA itself actually don't call its Nine-affiliated stations "Southern Cross Nine" at all. Also, the remaining Ten affiliate in Northern NSW have dropped "Southern Cross Ten" name in favour of generic Ten branding. A page from SCA tells it. So, this article should be moved back to Southern Cross Ten, and the lead should be rewritten like below:
Southern Cross Ten is a name previously used by an Australian network of regional television stations owned by Southern Cross Austereo that affiliated to the metropolitan Network Ten. Since 1 July 2016, the stations that have switched affiliation to Nine Network, as well as the remaining Ten affiliates, all follow generic metropolitan network branding, thus leaving the stations without unique network branding. The network of SCA television stations not affiliated to Seven Network is broadcast in Queensland, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria and South Australia. On 5 November 2007, the network was officially purchased by the Macquarie Media Group.
