His Dark Materials
Hi. Yes this is about the talk page not the article or the task force. Primarily see Talk:His Dark Materials#Editorial (in)activity and Archive 2. Meanwhile, for visibility I outdented both of your "old" contributions dated December 2012, and I inserted the subheading "Soul" (on which I hope to respond specifically and soon) between them.
Now this is about the task force Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/His Dark Materials task force (which I won't be joining myself). I will look to tag it inactive (only 6 members and see its talk page!). If I find how to do so and do it, that may stimulate some response at the task force talk, or some response to you at the trilogy talk.

Deletions on City of London articles
Hello, I thought you might be interested that somebody has been deleting sections from City of London Corporation and City remembrancer. The anon IP refuses to engage in discussion when I've undone their edits, and has called the deleted parts "conspiracy theory", so I doubt they're acting in good faith. The page may well need balancing, but I don't think theor actions are helpful. Emma May Smith (talk) 13:37, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi Pincrete. Just a note to let you know the Sexuality of Adolf Hitler article has now been nominated for GA. Thanks again for your help in the clean-up. Diannaa (talk) 16:17, 8 February 2015 (UTC) |
- Yes, it has now passed GA review, thanks for helping to get it there. Cheers, Kierzek (talk) 16:03, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
Thanks...
Hi Pincrete
Thanks for the message about reverting my reversion on Godot. It's so civilised to get a message of explanation!
To be honest I reverted the edit because I felt that the editor who removed the Laurel and Hardy reference didn't 'get the joke' - but you're right, its relevance to Godot is pretty tenuous. Fair enough. Keep up the good work etc. Gravender (talk) 17:36, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
Category:American films
Please note that per the instructions listed at the top of the category page, this category should remain on all applicable articles regardless of whether the articles are also listed in appropriate subcategories. If you disagree with that policy, please feel free to initiate a discussion at the category's Talk page. Thank you for your understanding. DonIago (talk) 12:55, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- DonIago, can you point me in the direction of this gudeline? I looked before making my edit but could not find any such instruction. In this instance I approached the matter from the point of view that as Schindler's List was listed in 'American biographical films', 'American epic films' and 'American war films', there was no possibility of the reader not realising that this belonged with 'American films'. I took this attitude partly because 'American films', is such a massive master category that it tells the reader little. There are other pages I am involved with to which this guideline might apply. This film suffers from 'category overkill'.

- DonIago The category page says 'For convenience, all American films are included in this category. This includes all American films that can also be found in the subcategories.' Surely that isn't the same thing as the parent category must be shown on all American film articles?Pincrete (talk) 22:01, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

- DonIago Thanks for reply, I will go to category talk page for clarification. Another page I am involved with, Adolf Hitler, suffers from 'category overkill', As you probably know, AH was both Austrian and German, he wrote one book, a 20th Century, political book, which is also autobiographical and written in German. That one book legitamately places him in at least three/four sub-categories (more if you include 'Austrian'), however we have removed 'parent categories' from the article to avoid repetition. If you add to that - to most people - he is notable as a 'would be' artist, it is easy to see how the category section can become bloated with peripheral info (editors have actually removed him from 'artist' categories, since he probably never sold a painting and little but student sketches survive).

- Perhaps there is some special reason why US films have to be in the parent category as well as the 'subs', I randomly tried a few and found most but not all were. If you are right, I think it a silly guideline, because of the huge-ness and unconnected-ness of the parent category, but thanks again for reply. Pincrete (talk) 08:34, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

- DonIago … ps … Technically you appear to be correct, I tried The Muslims I Know, which is listed in sub categories, but not in the 'parent', it doesn't appear in the master list [1], nor in the 'M's. I've left a question on the category talk page, but that appears a little 'unloved'.Pincrete (talk) 13:36, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
