Oregon Law
Per your note to another user, I thought you should know that the Oregon Legislative Counsel Committee won't be pursuing any copyright claims re: the ORS. Whew. It's still a bad idea to post the text of bills, of course. Cheers, Valfontis (talk) 05:22, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- @Valfontis: Well, that certainly is good to hear—though under WP:NFC posting the full text might still be a bad idea. I'm sorry to see you've had some trouble with the page author; thanks for maintaining a reasonable level of patience given the circumstances. Hopefully everything works out. Though I have to say, your state legislature is awesome! (you've probably seen this already). Thanks, Altamel (talk) 05:51, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hello: Regarding this edit: Consensus is that all edicts of government, without exception, including laws of Oregon, are public domain in the United States: Wikipedia:Public domain#Works ineligible for copyright protection and #Public records. This consensus seems to be based on case law and the position of the US Copyright Office. I am under the impression that there is no consensus to remove such material only because a state government wrongly claims it is copyrighted. However, Bills introduced into a legislature, which have not been passed by that legislature, are not laws or "edicts of government". So Senate Bill 166 isn't a law and will presumably be copyrighted for that reason. Best regards. James500 (talk) 23:13, 8 March 2015 (UTC)

Your post on my talk page is blasphemy and lies. How can you say anything is 'fact' when there is no evidence that everything we see isn't just a hallucination or an illusion? reality is just what the world collectively agrees is true. When someone experiences a hallucination we say what they see or hear isn't real because the majority do not sense it, but in reality there is no evidence what we sense is even there. Everything is opinion, even the so called 'facts' on this website. If this is such an 'objective' site, why should the opinion of the minority on what constitutes 'fact' be censored because of the opinion of the majority? Nothing in the end has any proof of reality, and fact itself is nothing but a fragile and false concept. Such clinging to concepts such as that is petty and illogical. Besides, it has a citation. I've done my research on this, this is objectively true — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lily1155 (talk • contribs) 04:11, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Exactly one month ago, you welcomed me to Wikipedia. I thank you for this, as now my editing skills have greatly increased, and I have found my place within the community of contributors. Just thought I'd show my appreciation! The best, Coderenius (talk) 17:35, 23 July 2015 (UTC) |

I'm new at this but I have some information for the Mel Gibson page for u. I heard all this straight from my Gramma, who was friends with him when he lived on the Beartooth and heard this from him she even bought his Suburban when he went off to film Braveheart. He wasn't looking forwardto filming that movie) : [Mel bought (for 2 mil) and lived on the Beartooth Ranch, between Columbus and Big Timber in Montana from the 80's to the 90's. His parents considered Montana to be their home and the Beartooth Ranch was Mel's escape from the stress and politics of Hollywood.]Sconant93 (talk) 15:10, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
Mel Gibson page
Hey I was on the Mel gibson page and ir wouldn't let me edit it and it was locked for vandalism protection and I notice that the top of the page it said you were the last one to edit it so I figured you were able to edit. So maybe then you'd be able to add that information cuz I can't. Sorry I'm new at this I just started today I was hearing this information straight from Grandma and I felt like I should add it. Didnt know how to open discussion Sconant93 (talk) 21:09, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Sconant93: Got it. I'm sorry, I got a little flustered and should have posted here instead. Let's keep any future comments on this page, that was my bad for splitting the thread up. Altamel (talk) 21:11, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
Lol sounds good
It is done
It is done, my friend! As of yesterday, the article on Özdere is fully completed like I said I would when you congratulated me, with images, citations and all, and nominated for DYK. I encourage you to provide feedback and to contribute yourself, I would love to see this article eventually reach WP:GA or WP:FA. Wishing you the best, Coderenius (☎) 17:11, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
- Great! At a brief glance I'd say the article may need some more sources before GA. It's difficult for me to make a detailed review at this time because my Internet connection is spotty, so I'll have to read through the sources later. I'm also going to make some comments on the GA page. Altamel (talk) 05:38, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
RfD Notice
I removed the notice from the page because I didn't see the listing at RfD. Where do you see it? Compassionate727 (talk) 17:36, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- @User:Compassionate727: TheChampionMan1234 added it to the discussion "Malaixiya" which was re-listed today, so you can find it WP:RfD. The addition was out-of-process, which probably explains why you couldn't find it. I'm fixing the RfD link now. Altamel (talk) 17:43, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks. Compassionate727 (talk) 17:46, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
Another review
I didn't know if you would be interested in reviewing Sagadahoc Bridge, another page I created. Thanks either way 331dot (talk) 15:16, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
- @331dot
Done There are few sentences that follow the original source a bit more closely (see WP:CLOSEPARAPHRASING) than I am comfortable with. I fixed the beginning of the Name and History sections, which I think takes care of the most egregious instances, though you might want to double-check the rest of the article as well. The article does seem notable, so there are no other issues. Good work! Altamel (talk) 15:58, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
Thanks
The vandals kind of got us on that one! Thanks for your help. Jacona (talk) 16:39, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Jacona You are welcome! But you see, if they hadn't overdone it, we might not have noticed the "Principal" mischief they were up to. Altamel (talk) 16:46, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
- P.S. It's amazing how long vandalism manages to stay on school articles. If you want a good laugh, check out these edits to Parish Hill High School. For three months, the article stated that the school had been the site of a battle between "pirates of the Red Sea" and Communists. Altamel (talk) 16:46, 10 September 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for your message on my talk page. In regards to the article you mentioned I tagged it with G1 as it was a wall of uncyclopedic text, incomprehensible in its form at then, with little value for Wikipedia. In hindsight, I could have tagged it wit G12 as well/instead, and I will try to be more careful in the future :) Kebabpizza (talk) 10:04, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
I think you gave the wrong warning
See mine. Krett12 (talk) 15:37, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Krett12 Hmm, I should been more careful with the revert edit summary. When I see an edit that inserts information that doesn't seem true my custom is to revert and mark it "unsourced", as an assumption of good faith, in case it was true. However, it is obvious that nobody is "king of the world", so I probably should have used a more precise edit summary. These were typical juvenile test edits, going around calling oneself "king of the world"— but labeling those edits "deliberate factual errors" seemed a bit harsh. When I went to place the user warning, I realized that the text of {{uw-unsourced1}} says "if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so", which would be bad advice for this instance, since there is no way to source a false statement! Upon reflection, I would have used an edit summary like "probably not true" and left {{uw-error1}} on their user talk instead. By the way, are you new to vandalism patrol? Reference errors on 29 October
Hello, I'm ReferenceBot. I have automatically detected that an edit performed by you may have introduced errors in referencing. It is as follows:
- On the Beit Ha'Chidush page, your edit caused an unnamed parameter error (help). ( | )
Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can . Thanks, ReferenceBot (talk) 00:26, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Partly done: check the talk page. Hope that helps. Altamel (talk) 20:13, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. You never have to apologize, btw, for doing something slightly different than whatever I suggested. A bit of pet peeve of mine. The only folks that owe me an apology are the ones that harass and bully me, create drama and ABF.

- I've got one more comment here and that should be it for these pages, but the editor I pinged there is new and not online very often, so figure it may take a few weeks for them to respond. I'd like to be patient and wait for them, but thought I would let you know as well. Just as an FYI - this version has links to PDFs of the sources you couldn't access on Dropbox. Thanks again! Amb. Colleen Bell
Hi there, Altamel. In September you helped with a small request on the bio for Colleen Bell, the U.S. Ambassador to Hungary. I'm dropping a note here today to see if you might be able to assist me with a content update to a section of the Bell article. (You can find the request here.) As always, I'm happy to receive feedback and discuss further. WWB Too (Talk · COI) 16:46, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. re my ACE voter guide & guide to guides
I chose to separate the guide to guides onto its own page and have the ACE template link to my guide and not my guide to guides. As far as I can tell, this is acceptable, if not I am willing to delete my guide to guides. THEowner of a l l 22:52, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestion, which should have been an obvious thing to do. I'm going to have to stop editing Wikipedia after being up all night. I filed an SPI report at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Isla Riordan and another 38 accounts were found. --AussieLegend (✉) 03:50, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
- @User:AussieLegend Well, thanks for your hard work staying up all night to defend Wikipedia. I'll keep an eye out for any accounts behaving similarly and add them to the SPI. By the way, how did you find all those accounts? Is there some kind of tool to search for specific URLs in the page history? This might be useful for when I'm patrolling recent changes. Altamel (talk) 03:58, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
- I first noticed the changes at a few articles on my watchlist and saw that some were being repeated by different users so I checked each user's edits. That's where I got the different urls. I then used Special:LinkSearch to search for articles linking to the urls.watch.movietv.bizviewhd.mepopulartoday.biz --AussieLegend (✉) 04:14, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
The spamming has resumed (briefly?). The domains have been blacklisted globally and the accounts in the SPI checked and blocked, however the spam blacklist does not prevent edits like this. Please report any new domains to m:Talk:Spam blacklist. MER-C 13:46, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi Altamel
Thanks so much for your efforts on my behalf. As you can probably tell, my computer skills are very limited. If possible, it would be much easier if you contacted me by my email address which is:

In answer to your questions about my 2 requests from 2012 and 2016 respectively in relation to my Wiki page
-When I say that I edited the books, what I mean is that I was the person who conceptualized the anthology and chose its contacts, either by myself or with another editor, not simply that I corrected the copy ( though I did that too).

Hope that helps!

Request re: Smile Train
Hi, Altamel. I was wondering if you had time to revisit my two requests at Talk:Smile Train. I had a question regarding the Miss Universe content, and I also wonder if the "edit request" template in the second request needs to be updated accordingly. Thanks again for your assistance so far. Updates!
Hello there Altamel! It's so exciting to notify you again after all this time, first off I'd like to thank you for the wonderful Christmas/New Year's message! Might be a bit late, though. Happy St. Patrick's Day (it's still March 17th in Miami time right now) as well, if you celebrate that! Have you heard the news? The little article I'd been working on since my beginnings as an editor, Dilek Peninsula-Büyük Menderes Delta National Park, is now a good article! Thank you so much for your help in my journey as a contributor to the site, you've really been one of the pioneers of my success here. As a side note, you've already offered your take on the Özdere article on its talk page, but I still welcome you to help in the GAN process, since I intend on nominating it for GA very soon. Cheers, and the best to you! Coderenius (☎) 02:57, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
- Congratulations, Coderenius! Good luck with your future work. I'll take another look at Özdere when I have the time. My last review was performed while traveling, and having a spotty internet connection didn't help. Altamel (talk) 00:48, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

Does this mean you approved all of his proposed edits? If so that's fine and I'll let him know WhisperToMe (talk) 05:21, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
- Apologies for the ambiguity, and thanks for helping to clear the edit request backlog. I assume that marking an edit request as "answered" means that it has received a response, and as you gave a very thorough evaluation that I completely agree with, I deactivated the edit request template so that it no longer shows up in the backlog and no longer needs the attention of other patrollers. It does not mean I approved every edit, as some are still a bit close to the original wording as you pointed out. I have offered some suggestions on the talk page. Thanks, Altamel (talk) 19:47, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you, both, for your assistance. If either of you is willing to address the removal of Blackstone Group from the infobox, I'd be grateful. According to infobox documentation, the "owner" field should not be used for publicly traded companies. This is a very simple and quick improvement to make, but User:Toohool has declined to update the article because (s)he disagrees with the guideline. Inkian Jason (talk) 22:02, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
