Query about other account
I see that this account was created immediately after another account of the same name was renamed to Missvain. Are you the same person? The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 12:05, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
- (tps) @JamesBWatson: Yes, this is the same account which was renamed. The user page for this account redirects to the other.
— Berean Hunter (talk) 13:44, 25 September 2015 (UTC)- @Berean Hunter: Yes, because a redirect is automatically created when an account is renamed. I have known cases where such a redirect has remained in place long after a different editor has created a new account with the same name, so the existence of a redirect is no proof. In fact, one of my reasons for asking Sarah whether she is the same person is so that the redirect can be removed if she isn't. I think it's 99% likely it is the same editor, but it seems to me reasonable to ask, so as to remove the 1% of doubt. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 13:54, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
- its me. Sorry on mobile. Missvain (talk) 14:30, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
Help with research
I'm curious about the user JPbio and their additions to The Word for World is Forest by Ursula K. Le Guin page. I'm researching the book and I would like to know the source you used for the passage "The Word for World Is Forest was initially published with no introduction, but Le Guin wrote an introduction for Gollancz's 1977 single-volume reprint. Le Guin has stated in this introduction that the Vietnam War was a major influence on this work. Her original title was The Little Green Men, but Harlan Ellison, editor of Again, Dangerous Visions, changed it with Le Guin's reluctant consent." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Redfreebluehope (talk • contribs) 03:12, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Bay Area WikiSalon series kickoff, April 27
The last Wednesday evening of every month, wiki enthusiasts in the San Francisco Bay Area will gather to collaborate, mingle, and learn about new projects and ideas. We have two brief presentations lined up for our kickoff event in downtown San Francisco:
- The Nueva Upper School recently hosted the first ever high school Wikipedia edit-a-thon. We will hear what interests them about Wikipedia, what they have learned so far, and what they hope to achieve.
- Photojournalist Kris Schreier Lyseggen, author of The Women of San Quentin: The Soul Murder of Transgender Women in Male Prisons, will tell us about her work and how she researched the topic.
We allow time for informal conversation and working on articles. Newcomers and experienced wiki users are encouraged to attend. We will have beverages and light snacks.
Please note: You must register here, and bring a photo ID that matches your registration name. The building policy is strict on this point.
For further details, see here: Wikipedia:Bay Area WikiSalon, April 2016
We hope to see you -- and until then, happy editing! - Pete, Ben & Wayne
Editor of the Week : nominations needed!
The Editor of the Week initiative has been recognizing editors since 2013 for their hard work and dedication. Editing Wikipedia can be disheartening and tedious at times; the weekly Editor of the Week award lets its recipients know that their positive behaviour and collaborative spirit is appreciated. The response from the honorees has been enthusiastic and thankful.
The list of nominees is running short, and so new nominations are needed for consideration. Have you come across someone in your editing circle who deserves a pat on the back for improving article prose regularly, making it easier to understand? Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up citations?
Please help us thank editors who display sustained patterns of excellence, working tirelessly in the background out of the spotlight, by submitting your nomination for Editor of the Week today!

GLAM Boot Camp announced (June 14-16 in DC)
You have expressed interest in the GLAM-Wiki US Consortium, so you may be interested in attending the GLAM Boot Camp next month in Washington, DC. This is a training designed to help Wikipedians interested in guiding museums, libraries, and other cultural institutions in wiki engagement. Travel funding available for those in North America. Since the event is coming up soon, please be sure to add your name to the page if you are interested -- and please pass this announcement along. (You may want to share on Facebook or on Twitter.) Thanks for your interest! -MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:24, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Pride 2016
Hi, Sarah! As a participant of WikiProject LGBT studies, you are invited to participate in the third annual Wiki Loves Pride campaign, which runs through the month of June. The purpose of the campaign is to create and improve content related to LGBT culture and history. How can you help?
-
- Create or improve LGBT-related Wikipedia pages and showcase the results of your work here
- Document local LGBT culture and history by taking pictures at pride events and uploading your images to Wikimedia Commons
- Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)
Looking for topics? The Tasks page, which you are welcome to update, offers some ideas and wanted articles.
This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. The group's mission is to develop LGBT-related content across all Wikimedia projects, in all languages. Visit the affiliate's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view. One does not need to identify as LGBT or any other gender or sexual minority to participate. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Wikipedia, plain and simple, and all are welcome! If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's talk page.
Thanks, and happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:43, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
