{{PD-SDASM}} Hello,
For whatever obscure whim, I returned to Flickr and found another bunch of World War I pilots. If you would care to insert these into articles, here's the list:

Incidentally, Beckhardt's photo was misidentified as Hermann Gilly, so I removed it from the Gilly article. However, as Gilly never flew a Siemens-Schuckert D.IIInor had a personal insignia of a swastika, it is obviously a (poor) photo of Beckhardt.
I hope you will post these, as I seem to be moderately hopeless at the task.

File:Boelckeo.JPG
Please remember that you are "indefinitely prohibited from uploading images or other media files to the English Wikipedia." (from your Wikipedia:Editing restrictions). Your upload of a new version of File:Boelckeo.JPG is a violation of that restriction. Fram (talk) 14:58, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
-
- Take it to Arbitration, I do not see adjusting the contrast of an existing image as a violation. Thank you for your concern. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 15:20, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
-
-
- I have no ambition to get you blocked for this. I don't think it is a smart move to test the boundaries of your restrictions though. Doing such things too often or too blatantly will get you blocked again, and for a longer time, and also reduce your chances of getting the restrictions lifted or modified. Fram (talk) 15:32, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
-
-
- Arbitration enforcement is not meant to be a punishment, it is designed to remedy a specific problem, which was uploading questionable content. If content is already vetted, and I adjust the contrast, it is not a violation of that restriction. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 15:37, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
-
-
- No, our policies are meant to prevent copyright violations. Restrictions are meant to save people the effort of having to check every edit an editor makes to see whether it violates our policies. "You are not allowed to upload questionable content" (or "to link to copyright violations", and so on) are policies which apply to everyone. "You are not allowed to upload any files" is a restriction which is much more strict, and which only applies to you. Claiming that if an upload (or article creation, or whatever) doesn't violate our policies, it should be allowed, is ignoring your restrictions. Fram (talk) 15:45, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
-
- Then take it to arbitration, so it can be made clearer. I can see that it is bothering you greatly, so have it cleared up. I do not see it as a potential copyright violation. You certainly are the Javert of Wikipedia. So please take it to arbitration. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 15:57, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- Please keep your personal attacks to yourself. If I thought this was a copyright violation, you would have been at arbitration enforcement. I said that it was a restriction violation. I can't help you if you can't see the difference between those two. Fram (talk) 22:23, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- You also see personal attacks when there are none ... --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 05:47, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
- Comparing people to fictional characters who are described in the novel as "a fanatic" and "[he] was to be pitied, as is every ignorant man who triumphs." and by critics as "He is "one of the most tragic legalists in Western literature" and "the consummate legalist"." is a personal attack. That "[he] finds himself unable to reconcile his life's work pursuing criminals with the nobility and justice shown him by the man he thought was a criminal, and takes his own life by jumping off a bridge into the river Seine." (as our article describes it) only makes it worse. Fram (talk) 08:00, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
- You do seem to me to be a somewhat fanatical legalist. Fanatical in watching my every edit. Legalistic in declaring that altering the contrast of an existing image is a violation of the ban and that restoring someone else's edit is a copyright violation. You are looking for a "gotcha" moment to get me permanently blocked, I would say the moniker is apt. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 03:16, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion
Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you. – Robin Hood (talk) 21:42, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
Fiona Graham
Hi Richard, re: the report on RfPP, you've been reverting a lot to restore that birth year. It might be best to leave it out until a wider consensus forms, especially as it might be the subject removing it, and you don't know which year is correct. Best, Sarah (SV) (talk) 02:29, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
-
- Can you cite some actual Wikipedia policy that says 5 - 1 = 0? You are using the fallacy of false equivalency as your argument. The subjects of articles do not get to override Wikipedia policy. They want the publicity of being in Wikipedia and also want to be the editors and remove what they do not like. You cannot have it both ways. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 03:11, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
Incomplete longevity claims
I think you're thinking of the content at Longevity myths or List of people reported to have lived beyond 130 (I don't know why 130). If the content was fleshed out (mythology, rumors, issues with inability to determine time properly) with actual secondary sources, I think the "incomplete" content could be merged into the myths article. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 07:40, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
Malcolm Orme Little
Yes. I checked with Laffaye. "Malcolm Little, 9th Lancers."Zigzig20s (talk) 21:45, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
- Added Lawley as well, for which Laffaye is explicit. The one I am unsure about is Thomas Hone for now.Zigzig20s (talk) 21:57, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you. If you'd like to expand Tommy Biddle, feel free to do so btw.Zigzig20s (talk) 23:40, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
- Are you interested in helping me out with more recent polo players like Nina Clarkin as well please? Also, it looks like Tommy Biddle's father also went by the same name, which is very confusing.Zigzig20s (talk) 17:52, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for February 26
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Orson Desaix Munn I, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Posthumous (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

JDR Parkway
Hi Richard. I was in discussion with several other users about the naming of the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Parkway and we all agreed that no comma might be better, though I also agree that our naming convention should match offical naming done by the entities that manage things. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Edward Eugene Loomis, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page General superintendent (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Programmability of Colossus computer
Back in November 2012 you changed the description in the lead of this article from "was at all programmable" to "was programmable". I wasn't entirely happy with that, but let it be whilst I investigated further. Colossus is described by some as programmable, by others as "semi-programmable", and some deny that it was programmable in any modern sense. The way that it was set up to perform a particular task was by operating switches and plugging on a patch panel. I therefore plan to return to the "at all" wording and hope that you won't disagree. --TedColes (talk) 09:32, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
As written I have no idea what "at all programmable" means. It just sounds like poor grammar. Can't you think of a way to phrase it where it has some meaning to someone who is not involved with the debate. Can't you just say "programmable". --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 15:36, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

In the case of the lede bit about Jekyll Island, I believe you've done this more than once now. Please self-revert. You may have engaged with this article unaware of the recent contentious history, but now that it's been pointed out to you in the wake of your edits, I hope you'll adjust your approach. Mullers
Enrique Muller was a photographer who was born in Germany(?) in 1846, and came to America. His son, Robert Enrique Muller, also known as "E. Muller", was also a photographer. In order to distinguish photographs taken by the father from photographs taken by the son (for purposes of categorization), it would be useful to know the father's date of death; might you be able to help out in this respect? Octave Homberg (1876–1941)
Hi. Postscript to Template talk:Authority control#How many databases:
Wikidata pages are common for people who do have biographies in other-language wikipedias, such as Homberg-1876 — at French wp fr:Octave Homberg (1876-1941) and at Wikidata d:Q15969995. Re the latter, its WD page history shows that it was created automatically from the FR.wiki biography 12 months ago. Commonly such WD pages do carry useful authority identifiers, altho this one does not; maybe it's rare for those with unlabeled pagenames, [Q#########].
- WD Search results: 'octave homberg' – now two hits whose exploration shows them to represent Octave Homberg (1844–1907) and (1876–1941).

Newspapers.com check-in
Hello Richard Arthur Norton (1958-),
You are receiving this message because you have a one-year subscription to Newspapers.com through the Wikipedia Library. This is a brief update, to remind you about that access:
- Please make sure that you can still log in to your Newspapers.com account. If you are having trouble let me know.
- Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, to include citations with links on Wikipedia. Links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed. Also, keep in mind that part of Newspapers.com is open access via the clipping function. Clippings allow you to identify particular articles, extract them from the original full sheet newspaper, and share them through unique URLs. Wikipedia users who click on a clipping link in your citation list will be able to access that particular article, and the full page of the paper if they come from the clipping, without needing to subscribe to Newspapers.com. For more information about how to use clippings, see http://www.newspapers.com/basics/#h-clips .
- Do you write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, let me know and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.
Finally, we would greatly appreciate it if you filled out this short survey. Your input will help us to facilitate this particular partnership, and to discover what other partnerships and services the Wikipedia Library can offer.
Thank you,

April 2015
Your recent editing history at Harry Kendall Thaw shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. WP;REDLINK
Hello Richard. You made this edit removing the navboxes from the sentence. I agree that the wording was somewhat misleading, but your objection, expressed in the edit summary, is actually taken care of in the following sentente where an exception is described. What the text meant, I think, before you removed the navboxes, was that in this template there should be no red links, because it is supposed to show what Wikipedia has on this subject
- Differently, the following template should indeed, under the mentioned exception, contain red links, because it is used to create more articles in a series
- I'm not sure what the appropriate wording of the guideline should be, to clarify this. Kraxler (talk) 14:18, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
-
-
- The problem is that it excludes succession boxes as in Lloyd B. Marsh. As it reads we have to remove the redlinks from them. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 17:06, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
- Interesting, I wasn't aware of the rule that would exclude them from succession boxes, I always include red links there. Where red links should not be included is in infoboxes, since they are supposed to give no original info, but only to repeat key info from either the text or the succession boxes, and the red links can remain only there. That paragraph of the red links guideline is definitely badly written, and needs some working-over. Kraxler (talk) 14:39, 1 May 2015 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Al Lewis 01.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Al Lewis 01.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 18:20, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Sam B. Boyd (fireman)
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Sam B. Boyd (fireman) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Zackmann08 (talk) 05:19, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

User:Zigzig20s/John C. Calhoun II
Are you interested in helping me expand User:Zigzig20s/John C. Calhoun II and are you able to find his picture please? WS to WP links - my two cents
RAN,
I looked at the discussion over at WikiSource, and at the comments on your talk page there. I don't get the same understanding from those discussions as what you've posted at JimboTalk (JT):
- At JT, your comments suggest that an admin at WS is removing WP links and has blocked you over your disagreement.
- At WS, the admin (who seems to want to work with you and unblock you) indicates there are WS conventions (for linking and some other things he documented on your talk page there) which he feels you've not been following.
- It is not clear to me if WP linking is well defined in WS policy, or open to interpretation but understood by editors there. If current convention works against your preference, you'd have some work to do to get consensus for a change.
I'm not sure your post at JT will accomplish a change to how WS works with regards to these issues. You might be best served by engaging the WS admin on your talk page there.
Good luck, JoeSperrazza (talk) 19:23, 30 June 2015 (UTC)
-
- I am not sure you should be removing my posts to another user. I think the right thing to do, if you disagree with it, is to tell me that you think I should not be making a post, not removing it. Like the guy at WikiSource you are enforcing your opinion, by removing my post, as if it was a rule demanding action, like it was a BLP violation. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 20:02, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

- RN, please see this edit [4]. Until you noted it here, I had no idea I had reverted your post to JT. I did not intend to do so, didn't notice it, and went back to undo my revert - but that's already been done. I sincerely apologize and can only say it must have been a misclick. Thanks, JoeSperrazza (talk) 20:11, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

- Now there is a house to live in! You should be updating the tree at Familysearch when you tie together families. I have been doing it also. I also like it as a backup if the Wikipedia images and biographies get deleted. I also add my biographies to Findagrave if I know the cemetery, and even if I do not, I add a biography and fill in the cemetery later. Another good place to backup your biographies is Familypedia, you just cut and paste the whole thing and 90% of the templates will be identical, and the references stay in the same format. The more places you back things up to, the more likely it will survive the next 100 years. Someone can just add a "prod" tag to an article and it gets autodeleted in seven days if no one objects. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 22:42, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

There is an Ingram connection apparently, but I can't find any newspaper articles about a wedding or divorce, so I can't add it. (The Ancestry forum is not a reliable source.) Btw, there is already a Category:Drummond family for the Scottish family, so I am not sure how to create their own category...they might be vaguely related, but I don't think we could use the same one. No evidence this image was published in the early 1920s. The listed source says the subject died in 1978, so it's very possible that this came after 1923—we frankly don't know and the source adds no details about the image's origins. – czar 07:09, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

What do you think about this?

Proposed deletion of Hôtel de Ville, Arras
Hello, Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ). I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Hôtel de Ville, Arras, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:
- remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- save the page
Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Nrwairport (talk) 06:37, 16 August 2015 (UTC)

Hello Wikipedia Library Users,
You are receiving this message because the Wikipedia Library has record of you receiving a one-year subscription to Fold3. This is a brief update, to remind you about that access:
- Make sure that you can still log in to your Fold3 account; if you are having trouble feel free to contact me for more information.
- Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, make sure to include citations with links on Wikipedia: links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed.
- Write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, email me and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.

Shall it be changed to User:Richard Arthur Norton (1958-xxxx) (with the year in place of the xxxx) when that happens? Yazzzzz11111 (talk) 19:28, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
The reason why not
User:Richard_Arthur_Norton_(1958-_)#Why_can.27t_.22consensus_can_change.22_be_used_for_undeletion.3F: A practical reason is that in the time it would take for consensus to change, all google caches of the article would probably disappear. One of the reasons why consensus changes is that new users arrive to the project. These new users will probably not have seen the article, and by definition they won't have participated in the deletion debate. They might have a different opinion than current users about whether the topic is, e.g., notable, but how will they form this opinion without the information that was in the article, unless someone rehashes that information on the DRV page? In short, users will be less informed in the DRV debate than they were in the original AfD debate, so the decision will likely get worse, not better. Yazzzzz11111 (talk) 19:46, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

Arbitration clarification request
This concerns you. BMK (talk) 21:34, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Richard. I am assuming from your lack of reply to this and the edit restriction notification below that you do not intend to respond at the ARCA case. That's fine, but if that's actually the case, it would be very much appreciated if you could clarify that, either there or here. If I'm mistaken (which has been known to happen), then could you please post a statement, or indictate that you're preparing one, so that those of us who are waiting to hear your views before we make a decision know whether or not to continue waiting. Much obliged, Yunshui 雲水 06:46, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

I'll move it over shortly. I need to figure out how to preserve the edit history, might have to have an administrator's help for that. Hang in there, Richard, sorry that you're being put through the ringer again for nothing. —Tim /// Carrite (talk) 02:09, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

- The move function keeps the history intact from user space to mainspace. I wasn't sure that it would until someone asked me it they could move the article so they could work on it. I crossed my fingers and he made the move, and the history was intact with me as the creator, and all subsequent edits intact. I am amazed at how many interesting people I come across from the NYTimes obituary archive and the Bain photo collection. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 03:53, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

- I've moved Michael X. Mockus to mainpace. I hope to help clear some of your creations backlog as we move along now that things are fully clarified (and those controversial footnote quotes are gone). Best regards, —Tim /// Carrite (talk) 13:49, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
Notification of a community enforced Editing Restriction
Per consensus at this discussion, you are now subject to the following editing restriction with effect from the date stamp on this message.
- Richard A. Norton is hereby expressly prohibited from using the "quote =" parameter of the citation template in any edit that he makes.
Spartaz Humbug! 11:40, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
It doesn't seem that the closer has notified you that there was a second outcome of the debate. The following tag is to be attached at the top of your userspace new starts:
On the one hand that might feel like people are being mean to you for no reason, but I actually think this is a good thing since it makes clear that your userspace starts, if certified copyright clean, are expressly permitted to be moved to mainspace without charges of being an unauthorized proxy being leveled. Be sure you put the above tag on the top of all your new starts in user space, even the ones already existing because you have enemies and they will use that fact as a cudgel against you if you don't. Hopefully we'll be able to get the spigot opened up for your new starts over the next month or two.
I would also advise you strongly against directly soliciting anyone to help move articles to mainspace. While not expressly prohibited, a couple of the people in the debate indicated they would respond very negatively to that. It's still a grey area and you must be very careful to avoid grey areas... Anyway, even though it probably feels like you were beat up again, I think this all is a very positive outcome for Wikipedia and for you. Best regards, —Tim /// Carrite (talk) 13:56, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
- @RAN: In case you missed it at ARCA I offered to work through your backlog and clear what I can. If you have particular articles you would like me to start on or to avoid please ping me or let me know on my talk page. I want to make this explicit, here, so if you do ask me to do something it will not be 'soliciting' as I have already offered. JbhTalk 14:12, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
Michael Mockus
Thanks! But not much investigative work when you know how Lithuanians Americanize their name ;). I doubt that the other Mike was his son - the birth dates are too close. "Mockus" is a rather common last name in Lithuania. Renata (talk) 02:17, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
-
- I thought that I back calculated the age of birth for "Mike", but just now looking at the original document it does list this doppelganger as born on "08 Apr 1873", so just an unusual coincidence, I will try and find naturalization records under the name "Mykolas Ksaveras Mockevičius" or some close variation. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 02:22, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

Another one of your new starts moved, although there's probably little to recognize in it remaining. I had Healy on my to-do list myself for a long time. I have started putting the AN/I tags on your backlogged new starts, please do continue tagging those up so we can start getting serious about getting that backlog cleaned up. See ya, —Tim /// Carrite (talk) 22:29, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
- I've added a bunch more tags this morning, as you can probably see. Once everything gets flagged up we can see about getting stuff ported over to mainspace systematically. l haven't seen anything remotely touching upon true copyvio although a couple footnote quotes were long enough to get a few people's underoos bunched up. We want them to have comfortable undergarments. Best, —Tim /// Carrite (talk) 16:02, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom
I'm not sure if you've been following events there, but ArbCom seems to be creeping towards a finish in the "clarification" hearing against you started by Beyond My Ken. -LINK It looks like there is a pretty good chance that those guys are going to shut you down from additional new starts even on your user page, and will require a six month wait PLUS all the backlog starts to be either moved to mainspace or deleted PLUS the requirement of you to make "substantial progress" cleaning up your 10 year old editing before any appeal can be made. It is completely idiotic, of course, but ArbCom hasn't caught a clue in two earlier considerations of your situation so it would be a real change of pace for them to start to figure things out now... In any event, get your starts started on your user page if you have anything that you're burning to do.
I'm continuing to flag and clean out quotes from the backlog. Hopefully I will get to the end of 2015 tomorrow and then can start work on your 2014 list. Carrite (talk) 07:17, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

Redlinks on your user page
Richard, once again, it is important to turn those redlink proposed starts blue on your user page — User:Richard Arthur Norton (1958- )/David H. McCullough, User:Richard Arthur Norton (1958- )/James J. Gallagher, etc. It doesn't matter so much what the new "starts" say... "David H. McCullough was an American man." end of page, whatever. In the event ArbCom commits another idiocy and shuts you down from making new starts, the starts showing on your user page are apparently going to be grandfathered in, you will be able to keep working on those until someone comes along to certify them copyright clear and to port them over to mainspace. However, if ArbCom initiates new sanctions, you probably won't be able to turn the red starts showing on your user page blue and they're just going to have to be removed until a new ArbCom with an open mind is elected. So just crank out some stupid one or two line placeholder stubs as insurance if you have any intent on working on any of those pieces from the ground up. Don't forget to include the ANI-mandated flag at the top of each piece. Hang in there. —Tim //// Carrite (talk) 16:37, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

Arbitration motion regarding Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Richard_Arthur_Norton_(1958-_)#October_2015
- Discuss this at: Wikipedia talk:Arbitration Committee/Noticeboard#Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) October 2015
The Arbitration Committee has resolved by motion that:

Hello, we don't know one another but I came across your ban (I don't remember how now) and following a link to your user pages was shocked that so much good material was being kept out of the encyclopedia for reasons that I am unable entirely to fathom. I hope you don't mind too much that I might have jumped the gun in moving a couple of your pieces to mainspace on the spur of the moment. If there's anything that you consider particularly move-worthy, do let me know. --Andreas Philopater (talk) 09:25, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
-
-
- @Andreas Philopater: Thanks for the help, now I am banned from creating them in userspace so there is a list of ones that will never be written.
-
I think that you can still create article drafts in your userspace at meta, or in your userspace at the Simple English Wikipedia, both places which are outside the jurisdiction of the Arbitration Committee. In these cases, of course, others could create a placeholder stub in the mainspace for you to then copy your work here, where it belongs. (It is my understanding that you are banned only from creating articles, not from contributing to them if they have already been created.) 103.6.159.82 (talk) 19:29, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

- It is still possible. Pages from other WMF wikis can be imported with complete edit history. An established editor in good standing could post a request at WP:RFPI certifying your draft to be free of copyright problems and claiming responsibility for any copyvio that may be found later. 103.6.159.84 (talk) 17:33, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

You take too much shit and get not enough praise, Richard. Let me do that now. Thanks for keeping your legs moving running the football through a pile on the Henry Johnson naming controversy. You proved to be absolutely right that the article name was conflated between the subject and another person. I think it will work out okay in the end but there are hoops to be jumped, it would seem. If you need to have a start made for a piece on the real Henry Lincoln Johnson, an attorney and civil service functionary who seems is notable in his own right, let me know and I'd be happy to get the ball rolling on it. Obviously that will have to wait for a few days until the naming issue on the other person resolves itself. —Tim Carrite (talk) 20:46, 28 October 2015 (UTC) |

Proposed deletion of Deluxe Archive Solutions
The article Deluxe Archive Solutions has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Doesn't meet WP:CORPDEPTH. Only claim to fame seems to be the Johnny Carson archiving; I couldn't find any sources that provide significant coverage of the company itself.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 16:05, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

File:Stucco relief, Sam Goldman house (Ferrer Colony, Piscataway).jpg needs authorship information
The media file you uploaded as File:Stucco relief, Sam Goldman house (Ferrer Colony, Piscataway).jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.
It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.
Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).
- If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which:

will produce an appropriate expansion,

ArbCom elections are now open!
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When editing an article on Wikipedia, you will see a small field labeled "Edit summary" shown under the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
I noticed your recent edit to Reggie Watts does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.
Edit summary content is visible in:
- User contributions
- Recent changes
- Watchlists
- Revision differences
- IRC channels
- Related changes
- New pages list and
- Article editing history
Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! bojo1498 talk 18:40, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

3RR warning
Please be more careful when you revert articles. You have partially or fully reverted Lists of deaths at Stuyvesant Polyclinic Hospital four times in less than a day, which is not allowed per WP:3RR. You reverted edits by Rich Farmbrough and me, beyond My Ken, and Liz (twice), so it's not as if it was an edit war with just one person (which also isn't allowed, but is more understandable). You have been warned in the past about avoiding personal attacks, and especially about comparing people to Javert. I notice that you have done the same this month at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement/Archive184#Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) and again now with this edit. You were asked already in December 2013 by @Carcharoth: to stop using this PA (in Wikipedia talk:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ), using it against another editor (in this case User:Beyond My Ken doesn't make it any more acceptable. While 210 might be optimized for your screen, you aren't the only person reading the articles. The default image size is controlled by the preference settings. On March 19, 2010 I added the New York Times obituary to the article on Pabst. There you are in an edit war over the order of his birth name vs. his professional name with another editor, and I expressed my opinion. You must have made over 50 edits to over a dozen articles this weekend. The only thing in common is that you are engaging in edit wars over minor issue with multiple people and your edits show up on my watchlist over and over again because of your edit wars. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 05:14, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
- [BMK writes] I have removed RAN's comment here, since he is banned from my talk page, but, in all fairness, it is, of course, available in the history of this page, for those who wish to see it. I have no interest in discussing matters with RAN, as his interpretation of Wikirules is.... different, shall we say, which accounts in some respects for his 3 active ArbCom sanctions. I also find it interesting that RAN reads this page: I do not read his, because I have little interest in interacting with an editor such as himself. I have made it clear in a number of places, that I wish to be quit of RAN, that I will no longer monitor his frequent violations of his ArbCom sanctions, but it is difficult to maintain a distance from him when he is following me around, reverting my edits for what appear to be the purposes of harassment. BMK (talk) 07:03, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
- My sympathies in dealing with BMK. Whether it's ignorance, arrogance or his usual belligerence, he's completely wrong about his claim that this "is the third time he's shown up at an article he's never edited before in order to revert one of my edits." You had edited every one of those articles before he did, per the revision statistics for G. W. Pabst (more than four years before BMK), Louis Comfort Tiffany (four-plus years before BMK) and List of mayors of New York City (a year-plus before BMK). I'll take a look at BMK's latest edit warring and see if there is any way that I can help settle any of these issues rationally and help avoid further conflict. "That isn't a real license"
Yes, it is. Mugshots are specifically public domain unless there is some law against it. There's not. Public domain is a real license. It can also have fair use justification if you want to argue it, but public domain material is free for everyone, no permission needed. Look it up. DreamGuy (talk) 00:42, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- (Talk page stalker here.) "Mugshots are specifically public domain unless there is some law against it." Not so fast. If you're talking about this image by the Colorado Springs Police Department, please provide a source for that assertion. Works by an employee of a local government are not necessarily public domain. Jonathunder (talk) 00:54, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- By the way, you had a fair use license. It also had rationale. Then you deleted it. Because I say it was PD you go back on yourself and say it wasn't fair use even though you first said it was. That's just spite.Since you were so obvious I deleted your bogus deletion notice. DreamGuy (talk) 02:33, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I responded to your comment on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/London Buses route 403 a few days ago, I was wondering if you'd noticed and care to comment? Specifically you cited WP:OUTCOMES, which states "Articles about individual bus routes are rarely notable, recommendations to merge into a suitable list article are common." which contradicts the reasoning you associated with it? Proposed deletion of NJ.com
The article NJ.com has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) and Wikipedia:Notability (websites) requirements. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back. Thank you,
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Trax Colton
- Was wondering why you deleted the "subscription required" template for the Time.Com ref, since the complete article is behind a paywall. Is there any more at that article about Trax Colton beyond the initial paragraph that is quoted I don't know, it's behind a paywall...there could be a quote directly from Colton, there could be some more details about his career...maybe he was offered a part in a movie that was written especially for him by some Oscar-winning screenwriter...but there's that darn paywall.
- Was also wondering why the NY Times external link was added since that information provides nothing new, just that Morelli/Colton existed, is of unknown gender, and was in two particular movies.

Using wikidata links directly in articles, plus indirect violation of a restriction
I noticed that in an article like Coroner of New York City, you added multiple inline links to Wikidata pages you created, like [12]. As these links are blue, and hard to discern from standard wikilinks, they may be misleading to readers who expect a link to another Wikipedia article but instead end up at a quite different site.
Furthermore, in at least some of these Wikidata pages, you have added as (sometimes the only) source a link to a findagrave page you created ([13],[14]). Not only is this not a reliable source which should be avoided on Wikipedia, it also is a type of source you are explicitly disallowed to use according to Wikipedia:Editing restrictions: "Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) is prohibited from linking as a reference any external site to which he has contributed. He may provide such links on the talk pages of articles, so they may be reviewed by other editors for acceptance according to applicable Wikipedia guidelines and policies; if accepted, another editor may add these links as desired."
Linking from articles you created to Wikidata pages you created where the source is a link you are not allowed to use directly on Wikipedia seems like a very bad practice and may not be looked on favourably by Arbcom (enforcement) if put to the test. Please stop doing this. Fram (talk) 10:28, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
- Take it to ANI, have fun! Adding to Wikidata or Wikimedia Commons has nothing to do with any restrictions at Wikipedia, they are not the same entity, and Wikipedia has no !jurisdiction. I love what you call "indirect violation of a restriction". If I am not allowed to shop at Walmart and I shop at Target, I not violating any !law. If you think that Wikipedia should never link to Wikidata, then bring it up at ANI. It is like demanding that I never add a picture I loaded from Wikimedia Commons to an article. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 14:37, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
- Wikipedia has no jurisdiction on what you do at Wikidata, it has jurisdiction on what you do here, and if that is indirectly linking to pages you are not allowed to link to, then that may well be seen as a problem. To take your Commons example, you have another restriction which explicitly states "Should Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) upload a copyright-violating image to the Wikimedia Commons and subsequently make use of that image on the English Wikipedia in any namespace, he may be subject to Arbitration Enforcement as if the image were uploaded directly to the English Wikipedia in violation of this remedy. " So it appears that avoiding a restriction by using another Wikimedia site first and only then using that violation here is already covered in another restriction you have, and isn't so far-fetched as you want it to look like. Fram (talk) 08:22, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry, I haven't a clue what you are talking about, take it up at ANI. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 15:13, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
I have raised the issue at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement#Richard Arthur Norton (1958- )[15], you are invited to comment there. Fram (talk) 15:40, 6 January 2016 (UTC)

I don't know what you are thinking, but these links are in no way appropriate. Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. Your recent editing history at Lloyd D. Brown shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted.

I wonder if there is a bot for bare Google Books links that take the generator and combines it with a bare url and replaces it. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 19:15, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

- well, there is User:Citation bot/use, i was using it to fill out bare urls. and you can enable it as a gadget, seems unsupported. Duckduckstop (talk) 13:19, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Secretary of State
There are state secretaries of State, but they are called by their state. E.g. Secretary of State of Washington. The Secretary of State in the US is equivalent of foreign minister in other countries. NapoleonX (talk) 03:07, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Small world
I'm at a birthday party in London for Wikipedia – surrounded by the celebrities like Jimmy Wales and the WMUK crowd. They have a visualization of Wikipedia running on a big screen here and I was watching the edits just now. I recognised many of the topics and was especially tickled when I saw a big edit to Coroner of New York City pop up. I said, "I bet I know who did that – it must be Richard Norton". I was right. Thanks for beavering away to provide the cabaret while we party on... Andrew D. (talk) 20:45, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

Concerning the NYC Sheriff's Office
Good afternoon. Thank you for your contributions to the wiki page. However, the information you put as the historical part was already on the page in a previous section. Also, if you can take the individual county sheriff history parts and perhaps put them into a combined link in the "see also" section, that would be great. This way it makes the page seem more compact and a little less confusing. Thank you!
Postmaster of New York City
This edit totally messed up the table you made but I don't see how to fix it. I'll just revert tomorrow if you can't fix it either. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 20:03, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

- I think I fixed it already, it is not easy to work with tables. Plus I have to go back and link the people to the table from the article and add a category to the article. So much work. Next I have to add in the "office held" in Wikidata. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 20:07, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
- Certainly the table looks fixed now. Thanks ww2censor (talk) 20:10, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:James Hillier.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:James Hillier.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 16:52, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community for our evening "WikiWednesday" salon and knowledge-sharing workshop by 14th Street / Union Square in Manhattan. This month, we will also host a Newcomer's Wiki Workshop for those getting started on the encyclopedia project! We will also include a look at our annual plan and budget ideas, and welcome input from community members on the sorts of projects the chapter should support through both volunteer and budgetary efforts. We welcome the participation of our friends from the Free Culture movement and from educational and cultural institutions interested in developing free knowledge projects. We will also follow up on plans for recent and upcoming editathons, and other outreach activities. After the main meeting, pizza/chicken/vegetables and refreshments and video games in the gallery!
We especially encourage folks to add your 5-minute lightning talks to our roster, and otherwise join in the "open space" experience! Joseph P. Sneed

- How do you think we could reference it?Zigzig20s (talk) 03:46, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
- That is tough, it would require a cascade of birth records and census images. Let me see if we can find one document that ties together the 4 generations, or at least 3 of them. Disambiguation link notification for February 28
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited New York City Sheriff's Office, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Patrick Campbell and William Jenkins (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Lena Frances Edwards.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Lena Frances Edwards.jpg.
Thank you. --Stefan2 (talk) 18:04, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

Article drafts at WP:RM
Hi Richard. I don't want to get bogged down in the detail of the ArbCom case, but I was wondering how it could be lifted, so you can create articles again. I'm guessing it's not a user-friendly process and involves some case going back to ArbCom? I'm happy to help, if needed. Of course, feel free to ignore this if you think it's too much of a headache to get this overturned! Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:09, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- I would love the help, as you can see on my page, I have hundreds of article titles that never get written, and a backlog of hundreds of written articles in my userspace. Even if we got the ruling to allow me to make articles in my userspace again, it would be helpful to all. I am not sure why they blocked userspace articles after ruling earlier that they were legal. We are mirroring the US criminal justice system here at Wikipedia punishing too many people for too long a period. I used to donate about 20 hours a week to Wikipedia, now I donate that time to Familysearch and other genealogy projects. I still load images to Wikimedia Commons from the Bain collection for an hour each Friday. Despite an equal amount of argument over copyrights at Commons, I am not banned there. For instance long arguments and multiple deletions over whether I own the copyright as a "work-made-for-hire" to my high school year book photo or the anonymous photographer does. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 15:11, 8 March 2016 (UTC)

- i feel your pain. team with your local museum; they are all looking for digital volunteers who know how to digitize, social media, viral interact; host some editathons - you could gameify your bio list for newbies to try; and you should use vicuna uploader,[19] and check out GWtoolset. [20] Fae has used it on NRHP photos, but only a couple 100k more LOC images to go.
- wikipedia is the best recruitment for other open knowledge projects on the web. it's WP's loss not yours. they're too stupid to drop the stick, let them poke their own eye out. Duckduckstop (talk) 19:09, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks Richard. I'll raise some questions to get the ball rolling to see what happens. On an un-related note, would you consider archiving some older discussions on your talkpage? It's quite a looooong scroll down to here! :D Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 19:29, 8 March 2016 (UTC)

- OK, question started. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 19:33, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
@Rich Farmbrough, Lugnuts, Carrite, The Traditionalist, Duckduckstop, Valoem, and DGG: Here's something to make the task of mainspacing RANs drafts (a bit) easier. Rename Draft:Richard Arthur Norton movelist to a convenient title, replace the xxx's with actual page names, and then you can begin moving drafts with just two clicks (no need to meddle with Special:MovePage interface -- everything is filled in). 103.6.159.93 (talk) 18:55, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

- speaking just as an editor, and not just with respect to you, regardless of who does it, quite apart from the matter of the restriction on you, I consider any method of creation that bypasses normal NP review and draft mechanisms to be undesirable, and I wish we could find a technical solution to anyone from doing it or using it. Kudpung, we're we working on something?
- And speaking as a arb, I suggest you write to the arb com. I make no personal judgment about whether this would be considered a violation of your restriction--I do not know what the the rest of the committee will think about this. DGG ( talk ) 03:42, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
- Huh? Who is DGG addressing, Farmbrough or Norton? What specifically is a "violation of [Norton's] restriction". I am not following the previous post at all. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 04:09, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
- part one, speaking as an editor is addressed to everyone. Part two is addressed to anyone trying to evade restrictions. The status of assisting someone to evade restrictions is something which is perhaps not really clear, but if it were me, I'd be cautious. --Please note I am not saying what I would decide if it ever came to arb com.I am just advising people to be careful because every aspect of W can be unpredictable DGG ( talk ) 05:49, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
- DGG, you are talking bullshit. The ArbCom made it very clear at WP:ARBRAN#Amendments that "Other editors may move pages created or substantially edited by RAN but only if they explicitly take responsibility for any copyright violations on that page." There is nothing here that requires ArbCom's permission or approval. Stop scaring away people from this. 103.6.159.87 (talk) 10:24, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
- @DGG: The current remedy cannot be appealed unless and until other editors have "dealt with" the remaining 300+ drafts. This despite the fact that there is no reason to suspect any copyvio in any of them.
- This, mind you, is only the lesser condition, and one which Richard has no control over. As such it stinks, on it's face, which is probably why some bolder editors have been prepared to put effort into helping Richard.
- Moreover, we are deprived of articles such as Landrum Shettles and Thomas Lyttleton Lyon until and unless someone else creates them, for no very good reason.
- All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 14:19, 11 March 2016 (UTC).
- Huh? Who is DGG addressing, Farmbrough or Norton? What specifically is a "violation of [Norton's] restriction". I am not following the previous post at all. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 04:09, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
- You are unlikely to find me defending the work of arbcom. Before I joined, I advised everyone who asked to stay well away. Now I know how it work, I give the same advice, only much stronger. However, the 2106 group is on the average a little better than the 2105, so I have some hopes for 2107. DGG ( talk ) 05:37, 14 March 2016 (UTC)
- @DGG: By pure coincidence, in spite of being on an extended Wikileave, I have this very week managed to drag someone out of retirement who can provide the background evidence needed for a compelling argument to get this done. The technical means is absolutely secondary - there's practically nothing that can't be done with Wiki software - so what we need is a clear consensus to go ahead to stop newbies and trolls from using the Page Curation tools. Unfortunately, the actual technical answer is one that cannot be done locally and needs the intervention of the WMF technicians - and that's another story. Sorry, did I say WMF? Does that organisation still edxist? Has it got any staff? Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 07:20, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

User:Richard Arthur Norton (1958- )/List of billionaire divorces
Hi Richard. Just letting you know I've performed a histmerge on this page as it was incorrectly cut-and-pasted without the history. It was almost a decade ago though, so I'm not going to give you a lecture about it – it was possibly the norm then for all I know. I will, however, say that you should probably look into doing something with it. Either have it deleted if you never plan for it to go into article space again or start sourcing it because there are arguably BLP concerns. Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 13:52, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
- That isn't all. User:Richard Arthur Norton (1958- )/Baby killer was deleted as an unattributed copy of the deleted article. If you'd like to retrieve it, ask an admin to do a proper userfication. User:Richard Arthur Norton (1958- )/Pillar of Fire Church, User:Richard Arthur Norton (1958- )/Orland Albert Wolfram, User:Richard Arthur Norton (1958- )/Robert Barney Dallenbach and User:Richard Arthur Norton (1958- )/Cassius Marcellus Clay, Sr. were also deleted as they were unattributed copies. They were quite old and never used by you, and I reckon no longer useful as the mainspace counterparts have updated significantly.
- @Jenks24: You might also want to histmerge User:Richard Arthur Norton (1958- )/Roadway blogging, which is an unattributed copy-paste userfication by admin Stormie. 103.6.159.79 (talk) 16:53, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Leuven University Press
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Leuven University Press requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". A training session on editing Wikipedia will be held at 12:30 pm. Experienced Wikipedians will be on-hand to assist throughout the day. Please bring your laptop and power cord; we will have library resources, WiFi, and a list of suggested topics on hand. Light refreshments will be provided. Make edits! Ask questions! Be bold!

The image tag states that it is an image of PRP in 1918. In that year Percy Rivington Pyne II (1857 - 1929), the subject of your article, would have been 61 years old. His cousin, Percy Rivington Pyne 2nd (1881 - 1950), would have been 37 years old. I suspect, but at this point I can't prove, that we are looking at an image of the cousin who won the intercollegiate golf championship in 1899. This may be relevant to making a determination as there is a photo of a Percy Pyne who closely resembles the man in your article's photo taken in 1921 as he is part of a golfing foursome with President Warren Harding. Were you aware of the cousin and do you agree that the photo may be of him? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rbabecki (talk • contribs) 03:04, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

- Your argument is convincing. It may also be possible that Bain recycled an earlier photo for publication in 1918. Let me see If I can find more photos of each person ... the lesson for family members, do not recycle names, or if you do, stick to a consistent numbering system. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 03:07, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
- Another thing we can do is look at the Library of Congress Chronicling America site to see if that image was used in any newspaper article published in 1918. The article will properly identify the person. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 03:15, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
- You did excellent detective work! I found the same photo of him from 1921 playing golf with the president in a newspaper, so it is public domain. You should add it to the article. You should contribute to the Library of Congress project at Flickr Commons each Friday morning. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 03:20, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

- It looks like I properly identified him at Flickr Commons and then pasted him in the wrong article. Don't forget to update Wikidata. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 03:34, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

- Do you know how to edit Wikidata? The father son relationships need to be added, some of the entries have no birth and death data. How did you stumble onto such an obscure biography in Wikipedia? I will also add the photo to Familysearch. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 03:38, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
- I found photos of the 1857 one from his 1921 passport application. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 04:16, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
Congratulations on finding the photo of 1857! Well done! I believe there is a photo of his father here ""http://collections.mcny.org/Collection/[Percy-R.-Pyne.]-24UFQELFKPZ.html"" but I am too much of a newb to know how to get it within the rules.Rbabecki (talk) 11:42, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

- Get a free genealogy account at Familysearch, it has the passport application photos, you can find the names of parents and siblings and missing birth dates. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 14:00, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

Re: Arnas
"Next time you are at Arnas kyrka can you take a higher resolution picture of the tombstone of Reverend Carl Gustaf Näslund (1825-1889)? Or if you can contact someone at the church to take one for Wikimedia Commons. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 16:18, 15 July 2016 (UTC)"
- Hi. I'm sorry, it is highly unlikely that I will return there in the future since my one-shot reason for being there was to take pictures of the nearby school (see commons category "Arnäs skola"). Also, I have no more connections with that church than anyone else. Try asking local genealogists at the national forum here. --Bamsefar75 (talk) 19:30, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
Brice Goldsborough
Hello. In a comment on Brice Goldsborough, you mention you have transcripts of the crash investigation, waiting to be typed up. Have you done anything with them since you wrote that comment? TIA. Spem Reduxit (talk) 17:15, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the message you just left on my home wiki. Schneider's crash is a sad tale. Its a pity that you cannot locate your Goldsborough file. From where or whom did you obtain the report of the investigation - perhaps it is still available from the source? TIA. Spem Reduxit (talk) 17:49, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
- Let me look at the Scheider file and see if I still have the envelope that the report came in to find the source, I don't remember if it was the National Transportation Safety Board or if old files were transferred to National Archives and Records Administration. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 18:01, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
