If you post a message here, I will reply here unless you explicitly ask me to do it on your talk page and please remember to sign your name at the end of your entry using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Also please note the following: The big orange "you have new messages" banner was created for a reason. If you want my attention, . If I want your attention, I will edit your page. If I just want to reply out of politeness, I'll do it here and save interrupting whatever you're doing... if you're interested in what I said, watch this page and find out. If I'm keen to see your response, I will be watching your talk page, or wherever I suspect you might post it. But if you have something to say you think I need to read, the big orange banner is kind of hard to miss...

NGO's
Hi there.
I've dealt with several other people working on charity/NGO articles in the past few months, so I thought I'd share some of my advice/tips.
- Following the principles of 'bestcoi', work on the article in your own user space - e.g. user:Dbiel/mypage. Add references for everything - make sure they are reliable and verifiable sources. The webpage of the charity is a primary source, so may be challenged. For example, if you say "The organisation has 3000 employees" with a reference to their own website, that information may later be removed. If you can source a national newspaper article that mentions the fact, it should be OK. For help with how to make good refs, see my own tips in User:Chzz/help/refs.
- At the same time, get in touch with other people in the community. Go to their talk page, create a new section, and say hello. Remember to 'sign' your message, with ~~~~ at the end. Some of the others I've helped with this include;
- BasicallyGood (talk · contribs) who made Braille Institute of America
- Fintanmon (talk · contribs) who made Free Legal Advice Centres
- Peto Australis (talk · contribs) who made Centres Against Sexual Assault
- Evsfort (talk · contribs) who is writing about a non-profit organisation
- Rowena Sampang (talk · contribs) who wants to create an article about a non-profit government organisation
- Sharonkilfoy (talk · contribs) who wants to work on an article about a 'respite center'
- Closenet82 (talk · contribs) is working to improve the article about Human Relief Foundation
- It's also worthwhile you reading through their talk pages, to see the issues they faced with their articles.
- When you've got the article into shape, ask someone to look at it. You could ask a helper in IRC, or put a request on WP:FEED.
Sorry if this seems like a lot of info to take in, but from experience I've found it to be the best approach. There are lots of people in the Wikipedia community who will help you in any ways we can.
Best of luck; please leave me a message some time, and let me know how you're getting along. -- Chzz ►

ArbCom elections are now open!
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For the Election committee, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 16:20, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

Wik-Ed Women Session #5 | |
---|---|
Dear fellow Wikipedian, I would like to personally invite you to the March edition of the Wik-Ed Women meetup, which will take place on March 15, from 6-10 in the evening. It will occur at Los Angeles Contemporary Archive, 2245 E Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, California 90021 (downtown LA -- map). The building has a pink top with old signage for American Accessories, Inc. dba Princess Accessories (Photos [PDF]). There is on-site parking in the back, which also has an entrance. If you cannot attend in person, you are more than willing to work remotely, as we appreciate all help that you can provide. Finally, here is a link to the Facebook event, in case you want to invite friends, as we are always looking for new editors to help expand coverage of women on Wikipedia! I hope to see you there!
