Astronomy has always been a fascination of mine, my first love in science. |
Being an Amateur Astronomer, nothing seems to me so pleasing then spending a night beneath the sky. |

The discovery in 1846 of the planet Neptune was a dramatic and spectacular achievement of mathematical astronomy. The very existence of this new member of the solar system, and its exact location, were demonstrated with pencil and paper; there was left to observers only the routine task of pointing their telescopes at the spot the mathematicians had marked. We are probably nearing the limit of all we can know about astronomy. |

Most people today still believe, perhaps unconsciously, in the heliocentric universe every newspaper in the land has a section on astrology, yet few have anything at all on astronomy. Superstition is to religion what astrology is to astronomy: the mad daughter of a wise mother.
